Trying to keep a running tally of what we know re: character ages… I feel like that image of the guy with the conspiracy board who looks very haggard standing in front of it lol.

Daniel is “old enough to drive and be on his own” (assuming 18y)

Lucy is “slightly older than Daniel” (assuming 19y)

Hoagie is “not old enough to drive yet” (torn btwn assuming 15y and 17y? He seems young to me personally so I’m inclined to assume he’s closer to 15y or 16y but I’ve been wrong before)

Bixby is “an adult” (idk how old she is she has a babyface)

Jayce found the Cyclops Eye “before he was 20” and was locked in the Soul Box for 5 years (assuming he didn’t age in the Soul Box, I’ve put him around 20-21y. If he DID age in the Soul Box, he’s probably closer to 25y)

Shak “was a kid” the last time she was inside of Jayce’s hideout, which means she considered herself a “kid” 5-6 years prior, since Jayce DISAPPEARED 5 years ago but who knows how long he was out adventuring before that. I’m also assuming Shak and Hoagie are a similar age based on the way they interact. Shak has been confirmed younger than Hoagie. (Assuming she’s around 14y)

Burden is ???? old enough to know Daniel’s father (and Viktor Albright?) from before Daniel was born/when Daniel was a young kid, and “knows more about Daniel’s father” than what has been stated in the show so far. (I don’t have an estimate for him but he’s a Grown-Ass Adult™)

Elyse was probably around the same age as Lucy (assuming 19y) if they went to the Dowser Academy together.

Viktor is ???? years old! He was originally supposed to be hundreds of years old (“a sprightly 147 year old man”) and passing himself off as his son’s son’s son (Viktor Albright IV) but that didn’t necessarily make it into the final edit of the show so? He’s probably older than a human should be able to be tho. (Assuming at LEAST over 100y)

Daniel spellbound, and Tales of Arcadia, an Au thing

My brains doing the funky fixation thing so… here.

Daniel spellbound takes place in the same world as TOA, just like 5+ billion years after it.

I still like my whole “Douxie absorbs the arcane order’s powers and replaces them in order to keep magical balance or smth” thing, so he eventually had to do the whole titans thing and restarted the world to save it.

And he left humanity to do its thing, but allowed magic to evolve and change with them this time. Now it’s been a while and humans have pretty much domesticated magic, and changed how it works in entirety.

“Wild” “old” or “natural” magic like how it worked in TOA is practically gone. Instead of just relying on a caster, even common magic now requires guidance from natural sources.

And then dread magic comes back. It’s a hybrid of electric magic and death magic, and it was never domesticated, it’s still old magic. Humans don’t know how to use wild magic anymore so anyone who comes in contact with it can be entirely taken over by it.

And while all this is happening, Douxie is still mourning his friends and his original earth. He barely pays attention to the world around him.

And then Daniel and Lucy seek him out so he can destroy the dread magic, and he realizes what’s become of magic.

And this all surprisingly makes some sense because most magic in Daniel spellbound seems to work the same way but then ancient magic like with nurenya and the dread magic seem to follow different rules that seem closer to the way it acted with the wizards from TOA.

And bonus: Douxie realizing “oh crap, I can’t destroy magic so I need to teach someone how to use this” and he basically becomes Merlin, but for team spellbound instead of the trollhunters.

I just remembered I was so into Power Rangers: Dino Charge and I shipped Shelby and Tyler so damn bad(all the boys on there were so hot). Now I’m back at it again because I literally ship the remix with Lucy and Daniel. The funny part is both of them lost their dads because both were murdered(possibly for Tyler bc his dad was technically missing). In the beginning of the series Tyler and Daniel are also about the same age(18 and 19 respectively). Also both boys are Latino and also wear a red clothing item (Tyler was the red ranger but in power rangers fashion sported red clothing). Which also aides the joke that every Latino male character wears red. There’s differences of course between the characters and series, especially since Tyler and Shelby actually do start dating in the series. The only similarities between Lucy and Shelby are they are Black girls and they kick ass, but you could argue they’re both adorably corny when they crack jokes or geeking out.

Also the worldbuilding on this show holy noodles. Loved the gremlins. And the magic system. And the character developments.

Oh and anyone who’s been spending the entire evening binging the second season of Daniel Spellbound and now don’t know what to do with themselves until season 3, y’all might wanna give Trollhunters a try and also I would very much like to talk to you XD

Also Tales of Arcadia isn’t just one tv show no no. It’s THREE TV shows (and I guess a movie also) that are connected to each other! One has trolls! One has aliens! And one has both plus magic users!

Trollhunters is the most like Daniel Spellbound though. And it’s the first one. So you might wanna start with them. Enjoy. You’re very welcome.
