Maybe Jaheira's hideout survived after the battle, and she offered them to stay there for a bit before venturing into the Underdark. Maybe Lance eventually found a way to help Astarion walk under the sun again, and they built this little house together. Maybe Gale and his students came up with the idea of an artificial sun that doesn't harm vampires as badly as the real sun. Maybe these rays are just Daylight spell Lance casts over their home when they both really miss the surface.

All I know, they're happy and safe there.
