#darksiders abbadon the destroyer
Tumblr media
So for Darksiderstober 2022, I decided to combine Day 11+12 into one picture of "Light" and "Dark". Perfect representation would be Abbadon himself, and his alter The Destroyer. From Heaven's greatest warrior, to Hell's fiercest Lord, the perfect example of falling from Grace all because he wanted to end the war on his terms, ultimately dooming humanity. Hope ya like, prompts are here , and stay tuned

Honestly the atmosphere of darksiders 1 is so good bc you always feels so crushingly alone but you are not . War is constantly accompanied by a watcher . He has to return and talk to Samael after defeating each chosen . He bumps into Uriel . Vulgrim is always waiting for him to come by . But none of these are anything , you know ? War hates his Watcher for literally treating him like an animal and calling him a dog . He knows Samael is using him for his own gains again . Uriel despises him and only interacts with him because she believes he must die to avenge Abbadon . Vulgrim is only helping because he sells things for a high amount of gathered souls and War has to kill .
It goes beyond that the world is dead . It is dead and the only thing that live here now are the undead and the animals things turned violent and the demons that walk the roads . Yeah it’ s going to feel so empty when you can enter the ruins of buildings and see the last few standing work desks or the wheelchairs in the barely standing hospital . But it is dead and War is shouldering the blame for all of it .
He says if he dies while trying to kill whoever actually falsely triggered the End War , he says that can be his sentence . He doesn’ t want to die , but he also knows he might as well . And when faced with everything and still being called a traitor and a betrayer by everyone who sees him , can you really blame him for seeing death as being his own way out ?
Then it gets doubly worse when he gets the vision showing how he can defeat the Destroyer , but also proof he was shoehorned in as the culprit and was chosen by the Council because they knew everyone would believe that War would do this , and they knew War would be willing to go to earth and fight to prove his innocence . He knows the full truth and KNOWS the one person that will not leave him alone knows as well , but he cannot just turn to his Watcher and say “ I know everything . “
The crushing knowledge that the people you are trying to prove your innocence to know that you did not do it. And you are completely , utterly , terribly alone .

Is Death aware of whats happening?
So i have started playing Darksiders Genesis again. During this playthrough i’m listening and analyzing the dialogue more closely, because college classes are over and i rather spend my time knee deep in Darksiders lore and questions i have regarding Darksiders.
So here’s the question right off the bat:
1.) Is Death wary of the Councils shenanigans and how they’ve strayed from keeping their precious balance? And the involvement of Heavens angels?
So obviously War and Fury were not aware of the things happening behind the scenes until it involved them directly. But later they both understand that something big is happening and they are just pawns in some grander scheme or game.
Bringing attention to Strife. During the cut scene at the beginning of Darksiders Genesis, the Council is telling War and Strife “not to mourn over the extermination of the Nephilim” and “that this was a victory for the balance.” Immediately after the Council said that Strife looked to War and said, “victory?” Now the moment he said that, i immediately thought right then and there that Strife did not trust the Council at all and just became a Horsemen for reasons still unknown.  He also says to War that “he is aware what he signed up for.”
With this being said, this is why i ask my question. Because all Deaths story was in Darksiders 2 was to prove the innocence of War. (The man is INNOCENT i say!!!) He does run into Corruption (aka Absalom) when he first entered the tree of life, but that is more related to the eradication of his kind. He is also aware that the kingdom of man is no more and that Abbadon had became the Destroyer, so maybe knowing this information he could’ve been thinking about what really is happening. Again it was mainly his mission to prove his brothers innocence, to do that he needed to stop the corruption, and restore mankind.
What do you guys think?

Another dumb thing but kinda follows the end of the first darksiders game, where War fights the Destroyer. But at the very end of the fight, all the human survivors are there back War and are just.... quietly judging Abbadon....
*War and Abaddon killing each other*
Humans, messing with Abaddon. Every time he makes a mistake they click their tongues and shake their heads.
Tumblr media
And it always throws him off his game.

are you in need of another sad darksiders headcanon?
I don’t know how, but Genesis gave me a lot of  Darksiders 1 feels? Specifically Azrael and Ulthane feels? Perhaps it’s that whole premise of the horsemen having to cope with their own decision to wipe out their own kin for the greater good/cosmic balance/eden/humanity and trying to justify that choice to themselves and isn’t guilt just the juciest of plot motivators? And while I’m ecstatic about both War and Strife seemingly preferring NOT to think about their own guilt while aching to talk about it at the some time, this post is not about that.
Because I feel like there's a good story there for poor old Ulthane and Azrael and it’s been there for almost a decade and I need to pick it up?
You know how Ulthane seems to have a really low opinion of Angels when War first encounters him in the first game? Referring to them as “pigeons” like they’re pests and all that, always messing with stuff that “ain’t theirs”.
But the thing is, he either can’t always have thought as badly of angels, or their would have been an exception at least.
Because it's Azrael who conviced Ulthane to join Abbadon's conspiracy. Why should a Maker care whether Angels, Demons or Humans come out on top during the End War? The Maker’s have no dog in that race. And Ulthane didn’t seem to be fully convinced by the plot. He's all like "Oh, Azrael you old fool" in the flashbacks, but he forged the Armageddon blade all the same and the six replacement Seals, implying there's a lot of trust between those two specifically. Abbadon’s plan couldn’t have worked without Ulthane. He needed a crazily skilled smith if he had ever had any hopes of fooling anyone that the forged seals were genuine. He couldn't have recurited the smith on his own with just his mad scheme, but he didn’t need to, because he had Azrael to convince Ulthane for him. (And Azrael even echoes Ulthane’s line later, when he asks War to go to Ulthane and tell him to forge that same weapon again because he is the last hope of an “old fool” and oh boy we’re getting sentimental here. But of course, War doesn’t tell Ulthane that, because he waded through 5000 galleons of demon blood to get to this point and he’s covered in gore and, man, he’s tired and not here for sentimentalities).
But the point is, Azrael and Ulthane were clearly friends once upon a time, regardless of what Ulthane may have thought of Angels in general even back then, and what with the expanded lore it’s easy to see why.
One thing they have in common is they care about Creation (capital C), they care about humans - as evidenced by Ulthane doing what he can to protect the remnants of humanity for as long as he can (it doesn’t last, of course it doesn’t, they all die, every last one of them, but he tried, and it probably played a huge part in him ending up the way he did by the time War finds him the first game, alone in the Hollows, a hermit, bitter and gruff and angry, an exile by his own choice). And Azrael, the healer as he is established in the Abomination Vault, the Angel of Death who cares for all the souls in his charge before they go back in the recycle bin the Well of Souls to be reborn... As soon as he’s free from Straga and the Destroyer’s prison, all he cares about is helping War make things right again, not caring much that it’s the horseman’s duty to kill him for his part in the apocalypse as soon as the more pressing matters are dealt with.
Both of them helped Abbadon because they thought making sure Hell was at a disadvantage during the Apocalypse was the Right Thing To Do because both of them, despite everything, are Bleeding Heart Idiots deep down. It’s kinda sweet despite the mass extinction they cause.
But then the Angels started messing with matters they should have left well alone, and so Ulthane helped start a war that he reasonably shouldn’t have had a stake in - because Azrael asked real nicely - and he’s had to live with that guilt for a hundred years, cursing the damn pigeons, never even getting closure with any of the other instigators of this plot because as far as he knows Abbadon got killed five minutes into the big battle and Azrael disappeared off the face of the earth shortly after. He doesn’t know the details about the Destroyer and the Black Tower and War never went into any of that on screen.
But even if he did, what would that mean to Ulthane? Is Azrael just another pigeon by that point? Would Ulthane seek him out at Leviathan’s Drift? Would that give him closure? Would Azrael come to the Hollows and apologize if given the chance?
We may never know, but I enjoy the thought.

"I would follow you into hell my Lord."

The 2nd day entry for Darksiders week, the topic being of Lore ships. Gonna be honest, while it was shown to be a one-sided Romance, it was interesting to see how one's admiration could be something more. Uriel being the prime example, or as Samael said it best. "Her Admiration was....less than professional.". And only in the end was it revealed that the possibility of Abbadon returning the affection was there. Anyways, enjoyed drawing two angels in one pic! 😆

Let's admit it, the Darksiders series is a bloody game, but I thought it would be interesting for @imagine-darksiders prompt to depict what Abbadon would look like after losing his eye in Abomination vault.

Fury and the humans from haven
More Darksiders related question(s)
I realize i should mention a SPOILER WARNING for those who have yet to play Darksiders 3, that i will be talking about the ending of the game.
So onto the question(s):
1.) Where exactly were the Humans taken to after they entered the reflecting pool? Where was their safe hiding place most likely to be if the reflecting pool was made to satisfy Fury’s desire?
2.) How long has Fury been protecting the humans, before the seventh seal was broken?
3.) Could Ulthane possible know the whereabouts of where the Humans and Fury?
My thought on these questions are all over the place.
Now the Humans entered the reflecting pool first and Fury was the last to enter. So i’m confused on whether the Humans choose a safe place to hide or if it was Fury. Because Ulthane said that the reflecting pool was only meant for Fury so if that is the case why did a Human go first and not her? Was it just so that the story line made sense?
it’s hard for me to determine how much time has passed in the Darksiders universe, i’m still a bit fuzzy on the timeline. I wanna say that Darksiders 3 takes place at least like a couple of decades before the first Darksiders game.
I would like for it to be that Ulthane would know of Fury and the Humans whereabouts, but sadly that is highly unlikely. The reasons why i say this is because at the end of the game you see The Destroyer (aka Abbadon) and the time Abbadon has been The Destroyer is what about a century or so, which is around the time War has been at the Councils mercy.
So yeah, your thoughts and opinions on this please.
