I've seen you reblog post about Saavik/David, but you also post often about Saavik/Joanna, so what's your stance on shipping with Saavik?

That's right! I like content with both ships! As a matter of fact, when it comes to shipping, in Saavik's case, I think there many ways to interpret the source material and create shippy content.

Saavik/ David ? They were written as a spirk next-gen, the tension is there and they are have lots of cute moments

Saavik/Joanna? Obviously we have far less canon content, but they also fits very well and I love the potential

Saavik/Gillian Taylor, Saavik/Demora Sulu, Saavik/Xon her fiancé in the comics? All valid takes and fun explorations!

Even Saavik/Original Character content is fun to see.

Of course, I have my own headcanons, which contradicts some of these ships, but the way I decide to contextualise this character in my own art/fic doesn't mean I can't enjoy it in other ways through other people's content!

Truly, the only ship I can't stand is Saavik/Sp*ck- and that's because even outside the books, putting a student and her teacher twice her age in a relationship icks me. And adding the context he raised her? Even worst.

But even then, people are allowed to do their things. When I just don't like something I don't seek it and don't interact with it. (That includes not wanting people to comment on this blog with "But they got married in-" I don't need the reminder, thank you. This is the "Saavik is Spock's daughter blog" specifically )

Canon is fake and I decide how I consume content. Saavik can be shipped in many, many different and fun ways! Just have fun and don't let anyone take that from you.

My personal headcanon about this dude

Sorak, aka Saavik's son.

My headcanon is that these

are his parents. And Kirk's look was because he hadn't seen his grandson since he was 7 or 8 years old.

Hence Sorak still is related to Spock (as he is Spock and Kirk's grandson, both by blood - through David - and adoption - through Saavik)

The childhood of the children of the triumvirate in a nutshell

Joanna McCoy: pretty good childhood, living in Georgia with her parents, when she's about 6 they divorce and she goes to live on Centaurus with her father and later stays there with her aunt and uncle when he joins Starfleet (she's a teen at this point). (Based on the book Crisis on Centaurus)

David Marcus: doesn't know his dad but never lacked love, everyday was bring your kids to work day with Carol, grew up around scientists and was absolutly cherished on every starbase they lived on.

Saavik: the plot of Lord Of The Flies amped up to 12 for the first ten years, then gets rescued by Spock and goes on to become a Starfleet nepo baby and we love that for her. (Based on the book The Pandora Principle)

I think the perfect dynamic for the the triumvirate kids would be Joanna and Saavik flirting so intensely and David having absolutely no idea he’s third wheeling.

I know I sometimes talk shit about OG trek (TOS and their movies) but one thing I think they did right was showing how you don't need to have kids to have a fulfilling life. Kirk isn't defined by David, we never hear about Joanna in canon, and Saavik is simply a mentee.

Don't get me wrong, I love the whole 'next gen' concept and it's fun to theorize but it also gets tiring seeing so much media try to push kids as the next logical step in someones life. It's what marvel's been doing and I'm tired of it.
