So I called Pepose out, and he blocked me as well, he was like “writers are people too” and I pointed out so are his readers and he has no right to attack people, especially small accounts that don’t even tag him or systems who are hurt by what he’s done. Clearly he is just a narcissistic man child
David Pepose is such a disappointment. What an absolute ass. He really needs a publicist to tell him to get off Twitter.
Maybe if he didn't attack systems on Twitter; maybe if he didn't take MK System and turn them into a singlet self-insert character for exploring his own issues; maybe if he didn't write a Jewish character through a Christianized lens; and maybe if he didn't twist Layla El-Faouly into an Orientalist-troped "spirit guide" character who is at the beck and call of a white person ... maybe then he wouldn't have people calling him out for his shitty behavior and his ableist, anti-Jewish, and racist writing!
MK System are one of the few sources of representation that systems have in popular literature. They're also one of the few Jewish superheroes. Layla El-Faouly is the first Egyptian superhero in the MCU. And in "City of the Dead," Pepose takes all that and says, "No, I'm going to throw all that in the bin and write a story that will help *me* instead." He's taking characters that serve as desperately needed representation and using them for his own self-exploration.
Pepose, this is not about you!! Dude, you should be writing in service of these characters and the communities they represent, not using them as some sort of therapy session for dealing with your own shit. If you want to do that, just write an original story with original characters! Do what Jeff Lemire has done and focus on your own writing, you insufferable asshole!

Moon Knight: City of the Dead #4 by David Pepose and Marcelo Ferreira. Variant covers by (1) Aka and (2) David Marquez. Out in October.
"Nothing is more feared in the City of the Dead than the ancient crocodile goddess known as AMMUT THE DEVOURER. Unfortunately for Marc Spector, he is currently being digested inside Ammut’s belly, memory by memory. Can Moon Knight survive the weight of his own horrific past, or will the JACKAL KNIGHT rule triumphant across the realms of both the living and the dead? All hope may be lost… That is unless the SCARLET SCARAB has anything to say about it!"
