So I kept running into this problem where someone would pick a song, and I would get so excited to finally draw something for that specific part of whoever’s story the song is supposed to represent that I would draw a million things for it instead of the like. one doodle or whatever I’m supposed to do for this challenge

That being said, this song is on DBHC Etho's playlist, representing the journey from Etho's reset Post-Destruction all the way up to the moment he re-deviates (though he doesn't let it show) <3 Cody Fry's take on this song and his orchestral arrangement is just heartwrenching /pos and I absolutely recommend you give it a listen! :]

I feel like this song also does a good job at representing a glimpse of bdubs' side of this arc... his longing and sorrow as he waits and waits and waits for his friend to come back to him, to no avail. I'm so very normal about Etho's Season 9 arc <shaking

Xisuma’s Season 8 has made me certifiably insane and I’m so glad this drawing challenge lets me out of my enclosure to share some of my insanity with yall— dbhc flavored, because of course! <3 This song is actually such a bop, highly recommend it!! It’s pretty early on in dbhc Xisuma’s playlist, representing the uh… Introduction/ Entering The Scene of a certain someone, and it foreshadows the horrific vibes of Xisuma’s season to come. I am so so so normal about this song, I’m positive it would be higher on the list had I found it a little earlier in the year

Although I will say, I was actually really excited to see this song rank at 69 because I knew people would request this number LMAO plus I’ve been drawing so much Xisuma lately so i was super excited to be able to draw and post some of my brainrot finally >:]

This song kinda came on randomly and it almost immediately became the designated Pre-Deviant dbhc Doc song. I like how clean and robotic it sounds at the start and how the song becomes increasingly glitched out and unique/original as it goes— it kinda reminds me of the progression of doc’s programming slowly starting to question things and produce original thought until he realizes he can breach his programming and do whatever he wants, manipulating the beat and syncopation the same way he kinda starts manipulating robotics and everything around him :]

Xisuma strikes me as the type of guy to listen to like, songs that are like kinda lewd that you'd never expect him to listen too. He only listens to them cause he likes the beat, but it shocks everyone who hears him whistling the tune XD

YEAH LMAO this is basically the vibe. Either he’s not paying attention to the lyrics, doesn’t understand them, or doesn’t care that they’re explicit. I’m personally inclined to believe the first and last of those three LMAO but either way I think creates hilarious situations where the other hermits are just Shocked DGBJCGBM

When picking the songs, are you just adding ones you already like that go with the vibe or do you find new ones when making the playlists?

WAU THANK YOUUU!! <3 Honestly, I found myself putting one of the dbhc playlists on out of nowhere and what a huge freaking mistake let me tell you, its like all at once the full force of brainrot hits me. like what, did i think i wasn't gonna be affected by all of the emotions that go with these songs? the heck did I think was gonna happen what a FOOL LDKFJDFG

But seriously, thank you!! I feel like i can be kinda picky with my music and don't often branch out to music reqs unless i'm like ~feeling~ it so i'm rly happy you like the music i pick!! :>

When it comes to picking songs specifically for dbhc characters, (i think i may have mentioned this somewhere else? i dont know what i have or havent said tbh my memory is so bad) -- and honestly, i do this with pretty much all of my character playlists i think-- i usually only pick songs that coincide directly with a moment, emotion, or event from that character's timeline! Which can be hard if i'm looking for songs to represent specific events, especially if I want to represent that event specifically from the character's perspective (meaning the vibes or lyrics need to be pretty spot on) but it's also cool bc it helps me sort the playlists chronologically while also inspiring how certain details of each event may go down... idk!! I had no plans to make dbhc etho go Wacko Crazy until I actually listened to the song Destruction and was like 'oooh this song sounds like one of the androids going crazy, almost like they didn't get booted up right-- oh... oh. oh. oh no.'

LMAO so its kinda weird! Not so much a vibe, and moreso like putting a puzzle together of songs that represent the entire narrative of each character! Sometimes there are songs i haven't put anywhere that i know will slot in, but most of the time its me listening to new music and a lyric or vibe will remind me of one character or moment and then i just start spiraling /silly

this is a bit of a ramble, but hopefully that makes sense! Idk man my mind is an enigma and before I know it i'm like listening to a character's entire narrative in musical-form in my head driving to and from work everyday

Ough, this is the second song on Dbhc Etho’s playlist!! i love this song so much fr, I think it represents Pre-Deviancy Etho while also kinda nodding towards Post-Deviancy Etho’s tendency to play into his android characteristics/instincts/programming? But OUGH this is such a good one, so many songs from this album ended up on his playlist SJFGJ

Have you ever thought about making a playlist for the DBHAU characters? I'd be interested in what music they all would listen to or songs that relate to them.

The way i like to organize playlists is, as i develop a character's lore/think about them more, i tend to put/look for songs that represent moments/feelings throughout their overall story in chronological order, rather than putting things on the playlist that are like, things the character would listen to or just general vibes. So each playlist is built to kinda... take you through their whole emotional journey :3 LFKJGSDFG although!! Usually, i will try to find a song i think is a good overall representation of the vibes, story, and character! Like, a title track :>

I think the only playlist that's currently closest to it's "finished" form or version is Etho's, which i've actually been meaning to share for ages LKFKLFJG but i keep getting this feeling that I would rather write up a quick explanation for what each song represents before I post it here, so i haven't gotten around to that yet :(

Just for those who are curious, the dbhc playlists I currently have are:

Etho (Finished! Or like. i would have to find a PERFECT song to fit something new into the song lineup i think)

Tango (This one's pretty close overall... there are some gaps here and there but it's pretty long right now so i need to do some trimming too)

Jimmy (a short collection of vibes i haven't really organized yet)

Ranchers (I dont know if I'll do anything fancy with this playlist yet, it's kind of where i've been dumping songs that i cant quite fit on either jimmy or tangos playlists)

Xisuma (this one just kinda happened, but it's pretty fleshed out right now, especially for s8... not anywhere near finished but i've been listening to it nonstop lately. this man is destroying me rn)

Doc (also just kinda happened. i listen to this one a lot for the bops and vibes because most of the songs on this are kinda. ahem. yknow. he's kinda.)

Bdubs (this one is also kinda short! its got like 8 or 9 songs so i haven't really been focusing on it a lot-- it's kinda where i dump songs that are either hyper-specific for something from bdubs' pov or doesn't quite fit anyone else for dbhc)

Mumbo (this one is really short (5 songs) but i really like the songs on there so far hehehe, i haven't been focusing on it too much since i haven't been thinking about him too much lately but i love the vibes :])

Okay I'm a little curious, because to me when making a playlist I make it to be listened to in order. Not just for story but for vibes. Is shuffle a yes or a deal breaker for some playlists? I know for me it can really mess with the vibe

OOOH good question!!! For most of the playlists, it depends what mood I'm in! If I'm looking to listen to understand the character/be immersed in the story/pay attention, listening in order is a must. But there are some of the playlists that are so full of bops/are already in an order that I'm happy with, that I don't really mind what comes on, so I'll put it on shuffle just for vibes/so the transitions and emotional rollercoasters don't get old :)

I've been listening to Xisuma and Doc's playlists nonstop lately on shuffle for vibes bc those playlists are full of bops, but if I ever want to Feel Things about the characters, I'll listen in order hehe (though I usually still feel Plenty when listening on shuffle because I'm hyper aware of the moment, arc, or feeling that song is supposed to represent LOL)

When I'm on long drives, I like to listen to the playlists top to bottom and then see what Spotify puts on afterwards to see if there are any new songs I can fit into any playlists :>

Yes, all of my dbhc posts will be under the tag #dbhc ! I tend to call it dbhc (detroit become Hermitcraft) instead of the dbh au because it’s easier/it’s what I know the au as, though I know lots of people use dbh au in their tags hehe

And there IS a masterpost out there, but I’m currently working on updating it/refixing because it’s nowhere near updated unfortunately so I really shouldn’t link it here LOL
