I think my current favorite hobby is redrawing little moments from Decked Out streams + episodes as dbhc FGJDFGHK so have a little collection of silly doodles :]

haii!!! time to be tortured by another comic for @shepscapades DBHC AU!!

i need to point out, this scene is ✨~NONCANON~�� to the au, and is kinda just. well i really wanted to create a hypothetical 'what if' scenario to torture shep, honestly. That scenario being, in this case, "hey, what if when Doc and X reboot etho on s9 after the moon crash and he wakes up Wrong and Angry and Bloodlusty, he gets loose on the server before they can shut him down?"

so uh. yeah ^_^ also, look below the cut for ✨fun bonus facts!!✨ (because they got too long to put in the tags)

NUMBER 1!! it got hidden by the text bubble, but in the first panel bdubs is holding his phone. this is because, well, when etho gets out, doc and x immediately start warning ppl. sending messages in chat basically saying 'etho awake, he got out of the lab, something's wrong, he's glitched, he's dangerous, if you see him tell one of us immediately, and BE CAREFUL' and bdubs, of course, processes up to "etho's awake" before dropping everything and going to look everywhere for him. because that's his buddy! etho's been down for repairs for a while he misses him!! he's going to go see his buddy!

2!! in dbh (the actual game), when an android's stress level gets too high, they pretty much start looking for a way to terminate themselves. of course, i'm sure this holds no bearing to the comic! definitely no relation with etho throwing himself into pvp as his stress level skyrockets...

and 3! there's a couple of ways this can end. either, doc and x arriving and one of them having to hold bdubs back as the other deactivates etho, or, option 2, well... at least bdubs will respawn far away and not have to watch :) i'm sure this won't be traumatizing for either of them ^_^

When you said 'make mumbo even more downbad', I read 'make mumbo even more download' and I didn't know how Mumbo could be more downloadable, but I did know that the idea scared me.

Okay so it definitely wouldn't work in rift au but now im. Rotating Mumbo as a form of computer intelligence that can download into a robot [I guess???? kind of like DBH/ @/shepscapades DBHC AU which is lovely and everyone needs to go get their eyes on it STAT] [though, tbf, I am imagining an entirely different retrofuturism vibe. think more The Jetsons.] !!! Maybe he was human before and downloaded his brain and memories into a computer and it was installed into a robot so that he could live forever and then Scar and Grian are from the future where this is taking place and I could do a bunch of wild sci fi things with the s9 builds i am. hm. OH. OH. S6. GRIANS FUTURE BASE. HMMMMMMMMMMMMM.

Part 4 is finally here!! The last few months got so busy, but I would be lying if i said i didn't spend almost every day daydreaming about/ wishing i could be working on this instead; this project has been such a fun break from work and i feel like each part makes me crazier and crazier as things gets worse and worse (better and better) LOL. The composition has been sooo fun to play with, and I've been having a blast trying to figure out how to write these guys in character despite the angst and chaos :] And, considering this comic project kinda came out of nowhere and disrupted some other comic plans i had for dbhc, finding little ways to rearrange how i'm presenting lore has been really fun >:3

im rotating the dbhc au and s9. do you think theres anything about the decked out (or s9 in general) experience that would be notably different in that au, or would things mostly follow canon bc theyre all pretty adjusted to eachother by then?

OOOH this is such a good question tbh. I think currently, not that I can think of? There are a few little things that kind of change the… context? I suppose? Of what’s currently happening, but I don’t think the moments themselves change all that much, besides maybe little emotional inflections that I would imagine are different based on the slightly different relationships of the characters. (for example, I see doc and X being a lot closer in this au since they preside over android maintenance together!)

I would say most “canon divergence” happens kinda at the beginning of s9 and a LOT of s8, because I’m still not sure which androids were introduced in s9 (i had a few in mind that I wanted to introduce for s9 for dynamics reasons, but I’m still trying to logic out how all that changes s8 and stuff like that) and I also don’t know the exact timeline of deviancies for s8. So honestly, as the au develops and I figure out everyone’s backstories/fill in gaps, it’s very possible that current dynamics/plot points may change!

Such is the nature of a fluid and ever-changing/ever-updating au though I suppose!! but i think it’s kinda fun that not everything is figured out— it always gives me something new and exciting to explore that could always make the story more interesting, in my opinion :]
