To those that haven't played DDR 5thMIX in the PS1 yet, there's this great feature that you unlock after around 200+ songs where it shows you in the Information screen how many times you played as each character.

And obviously being the Konsento fan I am, I happened to play as Robo-2001 194 F-ING TIMES (as of the time this was taken which was last week), thrice as much as the second most played character with Princess-Zukin.

-->And then heard a weird musical sting, and looked over at Smiler to realize they were absolutely Hysterical from all this fun. AKA, one good giggle fit away from death. D: I quickly got them away from the games to chat with Victor, who laid a Heat Of The Moment kiss on them as a distraction. XD Once they’d gotten their flirt on a bit, I had Smiler go calm themselves down in the bathroom mirrors (never mind they have no reflection to do so) -- once they were safely just Very Inspired, I then let them hop on the DDR machine while Victor shot some hoops at the basketball machine. As my game threw out ANOTHER barista-related error. *grumbles* I don’t know if that’s the game, one of my mods, or what, but seems I’m gonna have to be careful playing for a while...

-->And then I looked at the date timer, saw that they only had thirty minutes left, and was like “crap, forget the games, finish socializing, do more cute things together!” XD Fortunately they were more than amenable to kissing and flirting some more, and the date ended with them having reached Gold level as well, yay! Not like I need those VIP buckets, but fuck it, we can recycle them or something. I just wanted my boy and my enby to have a good time.

-->With that date done, it was time to send the pair home, where I found Alice, still in werewolf form, sitting on the couch watching some classic Sims TV. Which gave me an idea – VICTOR had already fulfilled the “watch Romantic TV” tradition I slapped on the holiday a while back, but Alice and Smiler hadn’t. And despite the fact it was past midnight, the holiday wasn’t quite over yet (they don’t end until 2 AM the next morning). So I had Alice turn off the classics, let out a somber howl to keep her Fury down, change back into her human form, then put on the Romance channel before sending Victor and Smiler over to join her on the couch. Holiday ended with the three of them hanging out for a while, watching goofy medical dramas and doing a little bit of flirting, before Smiler got up and left Alice and Victor to it while they made a drink over at their bar in the party barn. XD At least they all had an extremely successful Love Day!

*whew* Yeah, that was a bit more chaotic than I wanted – at least for Victor and Alice, at any rate! Seriously – I can get that the problems with them getting their food was because the cafe’s probably a little too small and was built with form over function in mind, but the FUCK was with townies just randomly flirting with Alice?! Like I said, that didn’t happen on Victor and Smiler’s date – everyone just left them alone! Does Alice have some sort of setting on her that makes townies think it’s okay to get up close and personal on her, because I have GOT to turn that off if so. Talk about the most unAlice thing ever... But at least I got my two good dates in the end. Next time, we wrap up in-game spring with another trip to Van Liddelton Groceries! The gang filled the shelves, and now we have to empty them. See you then!

TMAGP 38 thoughts: let's talk hunger

Felt weird coming to this right after watching a video essay on Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs. Gives it a funny undertone. This little piggy went to market...

Once again, we've got some hunger and eating related stuff in the incident. As I have mentioned in some of my other posts, I have noticed a connection with literal and metaphorical hunger and some symbolism that could tie into the alchemical Luna (I added a brief explanation to my pinned post). Most of those cases have a high H value, and in this one the H was also the highest one (DPHW 2153). So I'm starting to lean towards H meaning Hunger, which would conveniently also be Hunger in the German equivalent (TSHU). But I'm still keeping my mind open for other interpretations.

What this case was missing (and what most other Hunger cases have) is an emotional element or a painful memory. So with very little proof and a lot of reading between the lines, I will claim that the trauma is on the mother. She reacted very oddly to the carousel and told the kid to keep it safe and not play with it. It connects to her antique business/hobby, and more importantly, she immediately jumped to thinking it was from East Berlin. The mother spoke fluent German, so it's not inconceivable to think that she grew up in East Germany, which was dissolved in 1990 (the case is dated in 1992). The carousel may even have been her own childhood toy. Since she refused to teach her kid German, it feels fitting to me that she might have some trauma related to her life in there. And if my theories are correct about the world manifesting or reflecting the collective unconscious, we can imagine that East Germany manifested a lot of traumatic events for its citizens. Even if we don't know what the mother's specific emotional turmoil was.

Through this lens, the entire symbolism starts making a little more sense too. At night, the pigs turned red and black, which were two of the three prominent colors on the DDR flag. The pigs are oinking angrily, "in German", almost like police or military officers shouting orders as they circle the sad people who are drowning in blood in the middle. Okay it may not be the subtlest metaphor, but this is what I'm personally reading between the lines. Oh, and let's not forget about the bit at the end where the kid bites into a "ham" sandwich right after listening (albeit not understanding) a creepy voice talk about eating parents. Which little piggy went to market again?

As for alchemy stuff, there's not much for me to look into. Celia mentioned specific symbols (lead, sulphur, phosphorus and zinc), but it's just as impossible for me to say what they relate to as it was for her. I expected some juicier alchemy from Colin's notes, but I guess I'll have to wait for Alice to decode it. I also can't wait to meet Heinrich Unheimlich. If he's the same as Mr. Cat Eyes, we've got ourselves another trickster character.

Storia Di Musica #356 - Lou Reed, Berlin, 1973

L'ultimo libro del 2024 è stato lo strepitoso Kairos di Jenny Erpebeck, ambientato nella Berlino Est a fine anni '80, tra gli ultimi anni della DDR e la transizione verso la riunificazione. Quel libro mi ha ispirato per la prima serie di dischi della Rubrica del 2025, che sarà dedicata a dischi che hanno a che fare con Berlino. Due tra i pi�� famosi, Heroes di Bowie, fulcro della cosiddetta Trilogia Berlinese (insieme a Low e Lodger, in verità in primo solo in parte registrato lì, il terzo pensato a Berlino ma finito fuori dalla Germania) e Achtung Baby! degli U2 sono stati già protagonisti delle storie di musica. Ma fortunatamente la città tedesca è stata fonte ispirativa per altri grandiosi capolavori musicali.

Il disco di oggi parte da un assunto: dopo che ci aveva quasi rinunciato, e proprio grazie a Bowie era diventato di nuovo leggenda, Lou Reed è ormai un artista di successo oltre la leggenda che lo accompagnava dai tempi dei Velvet Underground. Dopo Trasformer, ha una necessità particolare di fare un disco particolare, personale, ardito. Lo spunto glielo dà il giovane produttore, che diventerà uno dei più grandi di sempre, Bob Ezrin, chiamato dalla RCA a districare le idee di Reed. Ezrin chiede a Reed: tu scrivi grandi canzoni, che però non hanno mai una fine. Che fine hanno fatto per esempio i protagonisti di Berlin (canzone del primo disco solista, Lou Reed, 1972?). Reed fa sua questa osservazione e costruisce un concept album che racconta la storia dei due protagonisti di quella canzone, Jim e Caroline, coppia di americani che vive a Berlino. Una coppia che vive una vita drammatica, oscura, terribile tra droghe, abusi, maltrattamenti, figli non accuditi. Un viaggio nelle tenebre, nella disperazione, nel caos psicologico (con molti accenni autobiografici) di uno dei maestri narratori di questi viaggi, ricordo a tutti che Reed si laureò cum laude alla Syracuse University in Letteratura Americana.

Musicalmente, Reed in Berlin, che esce nel 1973, registrato tra Londra e New York, ripesca nel suo archivio di bozze, scritte anche per i Velvet Underground, e costruisce con Erzin canzoni dai grandi arrangiamenti, con archi, fiati, accompagnato da un gruppo di musicisti eccezionale: l'ex Cream Jack Bruce, Tony Levin mago del basso, Ainsley Dunbar che fu nel gruppo di Frank Zappa, Steve Hunter e Dick Wagner chitarristi di Alice Cooper, e i fratelli Brecker ai fiati. Berlin, che apre il disco, ha perfino un Happy Birthday, sciorina poi nel suo pianoforte quella sensazione di tristezza e angoscia che, volutamente, permea la storia di Jim e Caroline. Lady Day, un omaggio a Billie Holiday, morta prematuramente per abuso di droghe e alcol, è metafora di ciò che caroline va alla ricerca. Men Of Good Fortune (Men of good fortune often wish that they could die. While men of poor beginnings want what they have and to get it they'll die) è l'amara constatazione della loro condizione materiale. How Do You Think If Feels è il brano più autobiografico di tutto l'album: c'è la drammatica paura di Reed di dormire, dovuta alle serie di elettroshock a cui i suoi genitori lo obbligarono a sottoporsi da adolescente, per curarlo da una latente omosessualità. Oh Jim, è la versione di "autoanalisi" che Jim fa a sè stesso, cosa che Reed fa fare a Caroline in due brani, Caroline Says e Caroline Says II, che partono da una canzone pensata per i Velvet, Stephanie Says: soprattutto la seconda è un pugno nello stomaco per ciò che racconta Caroline: Caroline says\as she gets up off the floor\Why is it that you beat me\it isn't any fun (...) But she's not afraid to die\all her friends call her "Alaska"\When she takes speed, they laugh and ask her (...) as she gets up from the floor\You can hit me all you want to\but I don't love you anymore. Da un lato l'umiliazione sociale (La Gelide Alaska, così la chiamiavano gli amici), dall'altro l'abuso fisico. The Kids, così straziante per il pianto dei bambini, ci descrive la squallida situazione familiare in cui vive la coppia, con i bambini che vengono portati via alla coppia. Il finale è potentissimo: The Bed parte dal suicidio di Caroline, Jim prova una struggente nostalgia per lei e la "racconta" elencando tutti i suoi oggetti rimasti: la cronaca ci dice che in quelle stesse settimane la prima moglie di Reed, Bettye Kronstad, tentò un suicidio tagliandosi le vene. Il disco si chiude con Sad Song, che è tra il dolore e l'assoluzione (I'm gonna stop wasting time, somebody else would have broken both of her arms).

Il disco all'epoca fu osteggiato dalla RCA, che si convinse a produrlo solo perchè Reed firmò un contratto per altri due dischi (che furono un live, il fantasmagorico Rock'N'Roll Animal del 1973, e il glam rock sbiadito di Sally Can't Dance nel 1974), e snobbato da pubblico e critica, che lo bollò come un disastro. Con il tempo, le continue trasformazioni di Reed e nella generale riscoperta della sua musica (che ha una data precisa, cioè quando gli U2 lo chiamano a cantare Satellite Of Love durante gli show dello Zoo Tv Tour) il disco viene riconsiderato uno dei suoi grandi capolavori, nonostante la sua dolorosa e tragica natura. Che tra l'altro fece una vittima illustre: Bob Ezrin ebbe un esaurimento nervoso dopo le registrazioni, probabilmente per aver osservato troppo tempo quella oscurità, ma avrà comunque una carriera stellare, a fine decennio produrrà un altro concept leggendario, The Wall dei Pink Floyd. E un verso di The Kids, Oh, I am the water boy, the real game's not over yet\Oh, but my heart is overflowin' each and everyday, arriva fino ad un ragazzo scozzese, Mike Scott, che chiamerà la sua band The Waterboys.

Dinner rations having been held early at 5pm-6pm for the entire building, the next hour was spent furiously setting up the tables that had already been previously set out for goodies. Every room off the Atrium and the Atrium itself are all strung with the Christmas lights and battery operated fairy lights, streamers hung from and across everything they could be, and balloons not only covering the floor to just bounce around as they please, but taped to the walls in random scattered patterns to fill the space. In the middle of the Atrium in the place where the Christmas tree had just been taken down stand a chair next to the piano which had been rolled out of the common room. The muffled sounds of music are already filtering out from seemingly every space, and the colour changing lights from The W's dance floor are spilling out from the open double doors. i really like minos prime's theme btw, it's unironically something i listen to daily a fuller list in no particular order: ultrakill, celeste, nso, nine sols, jsab, ender lilies, hollow knight, stardew valley, slime rancher and sr2, undertale and deltarune, yume nikki (but not really anymore), a hat in time, unfortunately league of legends

i also unfortunately play roblox and have a very great selection of games that i am definitely normal about :] i fuck heavy with block tales, pressure, grace, dandy's world, entry point, decaying winter, combat initiation, dream game, doomspire defense and hours

contrary to popular belief, i do in fact go outside i like playing rhythm games (please do not call gd a rhythm game in front of me btw /srs) i'm a hardstuck 11.7X arcaea thumbs player, casual phigros and cytus2 player and i am an avid pjsk disliker. i've also played osu, muse dash and unfortunately fnf below is a demonstration of my profound skill issue

as for arcade rhythm games, i started playing maimai and chunithm this year and within the span of maybe a month, i reached 13.7 in chuni and took maybe a total of 10-12 days across the span of a few months to reach 11.2k in maimai which i'm pretty proud of :)

i have tried sdvx and ddr as well but i much prefer maimai and chunithm since all i need to do is move my upper body and not have to coordinate myself as hard :'D

Superfluo ricordare che nei tedeschi, per formazione mentale e retaggio culturale, ogni cosa, anche la più elementare, viene fatta con scrupolo, testardaggine e precisione. I risultati della Deutsche Kulture, il mondo li ha potuti sperimentare con le due guerre mondiali. December 27th, 2024 - SDVX EG, PIU 2024 PHOENIX, IIDX 32, DDR WORLD

arcade day!!! couldn't really figure out how to start this post other than saying i had quite a bit more planned today with regards to non-arcade stuff... the day before, i had the amazing idea of binging the first two Sonic movies before going to the theater to watch Sonic 3! so that night, i got started on rewatching the first one, but i never managed to get through the second one as i saw a triggering scene and my head ached too much to really pay attention to the second one... thus, i was unable to fulfill my dream of watching all three movies within the same 24 hours before going to round 1 afterwards . however, i did have another reason to visit round 1 that day anyway... and that was to meet up with an online rhythm gaming friend blowing in from up north!!! he had contacted me about meeting up there during my watch of the first movie, and i happily accepted, so here came the day to show up and game!!! starting with a teensy little sdvx warmup where i may or may not have left him hanging...

but now, for the REAL DEAL!!! this aforementioned rhythm gaming friend was not just any rhythm gaming friend.... he was a huge awesome co-op player!!! and since a new update released recently with new co-op charts, we tried them out together, getting this sweet new S-rank clear on Discord (CO-OP X2), as well as little fun re-clears for him (but new clears for me) on Rage of Fire (CO-OP X2) and Another Truth (CO-OP X2)!!! ...only to get our asses beaten to the ground by the newest and much more menacing Horang Pungryuga chart (CO-OP X2)... but overall, a really fun set, and i'm glad i got to experience co-op again for the first time in quite a while!!!

SWITCH OVER to IIDX!!! i watched the friend play for a bit and even saw him clear SP 5th Dan on complete sightread!!! shortly after that, i had a really strong itch to play it myself, and so i did...! alas, i only ended up playing two sets and taking photos of three songs, but they're not all that bad!!! after all, they include an EXHC on Igaku [SPA-9], an HC on Verflucht [SPH-10], and a sightread random EC on HAPPY ANGEL [SPA-10]!!!

and now, for the DDR portion of this post!!! with first place being meeting up with the friend, the second most exciting thing about this round 1 trip was the new christmas content update to DDR World!!! you may have seen the grand return of full-screen BGAs from a few posts ago(?), but this one was even better... it was the grand addition of other characters (like alice and baby-lon!! wow), other customization stuff, NEW BANGER LICENSES, NEW CONTEST SONGS and even NEW CLASSIC SONG CHALLENGE CHARTS!!! one of which, Hana ranman -Flowers- [CSP-14], i managed to snipe on sightread with a 30p PFC as 14 PFC #21!!! additionally impressive scores include finally getting a GFC AAA (with 995k score, at that!) on 9th Outburst [ESP-15], a sightread 49p PFC (albeit a really bad one) on the absolute banger of a contest song that is Dance and Death [ESP-13], a really damn good upscore (949k -> 978k) on Monkey Business [CSP-16], and even a sightread GFC AAA on Mesmerizer [ESP-15]!!!

quick SDVX interjection between DDR sets when i was sorta gassed out and needed a break... i wasn't really expecting or hoping for much from this set, given i'd already gotten a nice 18 upscore earlier to satisfy my needs, but i got a shocker of an upscore that blew said 18 upscore out of the water... it was a a UC on Juusan futou [EXH-16], a chart I hadn't even S-ranked prior...! and it was my first naturally occuring UC since BBKKBKK NOV, an insane feat by itself!!! with a 999 at that, holyhelll...

back to DDR, however!!! there's not many scores left (only 3 more, actually), so this is gonna be quite the short paragraph to wrap things up... but before i could leave round 1 and finally get to watching the second sonic movie, i Needed to get a PFC on a certain new license whose chart was torturing me all session long... a song and chart none other than Igaku [ESP-13] . but like, i'd already played the chart in IIDX with similar timing windows... why was it so hard to do the same in DDR all of a sudden?? beats me, but along the way i realized just how good i was at BE LOVIN [CSP-15], another one of the new song challenge charts!!! maybe i could even PFC it some other day... but no time to think about that now!!! i kept trying and trying for the PFC on the aforementioned chart, failing time and time again at the stupidest patterns possible... until finally... i got a 30p PFC on Igaku [ESP-13]!!! oh right, and to wrap things up... a PFC (and Flare EX clear) on Warera kanzen muteki no idol!! [ESP-12] (CSP-15 is gonna take me much, much longer...)

BONUS: I GOT A RASIS FIGURE FROM MY SISTER FOR CHRISTMAS!!! YOOOOOOOOOO !!!!! admittedly, it feels a bit degenerate to own this given her clothing (or lack thereof), but having this figure in my possession now is so surreal yet incredible... there's two of em now!!! one fat and stinky, the other tall and beautiful... wwwww
