What is Digital Demand Responsive Transport (DDRT) :

The notion of Digital Demand Responsive Transport (DDRT) describes a technology-enabled shared mobility service that has a flexible operating, schedule and/or provides virtual stops and/or flexible routes. The service uses a mobile phone app that enables you to book your journey, see in real time when the vehicle will arrive, and make payments. 

D-DRT offers the benefits of both a personalized taxi service and a conventional fixed-route bus as it is typically a shared service with other passengers going in a similar direction or destination.  They will pick you up near your actual origin and drop you at your destination. Furthermore, as per the experience and availed services passengers can also rate their journey in the app and provide feedback.  This feedback will be used to constantly improve and evaluate the service.

How Digital DRT is Emerging as mainstream in Europe?

The unification of Digital Demand Responsive Transit (DDRT) into transport networks is becoming mainstream. Its successes around Europe in the past few years have laid the foundation for a future of tech-enabled public transport. 

In 2020, an analysis of worldwide DDRT deployments found that the average service term was around 12 months — shorter than standard transport contracts, which could be up to seven years in duration, and reflective of a landscape dominated at the time by pilot programs. These days, DDRT has matured into a service mode with longevity.

DDRT services are now fully integrated into transport networks, filling gaps where fixed-route transport cannot operate cost-effectively. A large number of European cities like Milton Keynes, U.K., Stuttgart, Germany, and Quimper, France are expanding service zones, hours, or fleets after seeing DDRT’s clear impact delivered to their communities. 

The status of digital demand-responsive transport in the US 

It varies depending on the region. In some areas, such as large metropolitan areas, there are already established DRT services offered by companies. In addition to private companies, some public transportation agencies in the US have also implemented DRT services. For example, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro) operates a demand-responsive service called MicroTransit in certain areas of Los Angeles.

However, the availability and use of DRT in the US are still relatively limited compared to traditional public transportation. Many smaller cities and rural areas do not yet have access to DRT services, and there is still a significant reliance on fixed-route public transportation. Nonetheless, the trend towards DRT is expected to continue to grow as more people seek flexible and personalized transportation options.

MANILA – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has deployed and is preparing to send more personnel and assets to help communities in the Cagayan Valley region that have been severely affected by the series of typhoons, including "Ulysses", which has caused heavy flooding.

"The AFP hears the calls for help. We have sent and will continue to send personnel and assets to the areas in Region 2 (Cagayan Valley) affected by the heavy flooding brought by recent typhoons," AFP Chief of Staff, Gen. Gilbert Gapay, said in a statement Saturday.

The entire Joint Task Force Tala, composed of the 5th Infantry Division, Naval Forces Northern Luzon, Marine Battalion Landing Team (MBLT) 10, and Tactical Operations Group 2, has been on the search, rescue, and retrieval mode.

"All resources of these units are being used to rescue and provide relief to stricken individuals and communities in CAR (Cordillera Administrative Region) and Region 2," he added.

Gapay said two water search-and-rescue (WASAR) teams from Tactical Operations Group 2 are on the third day of their mission in Ilagan City, Isabela, while three search, rescue and retrieval (SRR) teams of the Marine Battalion Landing Team (MBLT) 1, equipped with rubber boats and trucks are in Alcala, Cagayan.

"More than 91 SRR units of the Northern Luzon Command are spread out in 12 provinces and 31 municipalities," Gapay said.

Meanwhile, five helicopters and three more WASAR teams are just waiting for fair weather to fly in and help, he added.

"We continue to cooperate with the Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine National Police, Philippine Coast Guard, and other members of the SRR Cluster in order to help as many people as possible, as quickly as possible. We have faced many challenges. Our resilience and 'Bayanihan' have kept us forward. We call on everyone to hold on to safety. Help is on the way. And help will come," Gapay said.

As this developed, the Philippine Navy (PN) said a disaster response and rescue team (DRRT) is now headed for Alcala, Cagayan to help in ongoing rescue efforts in the floods caused by the spilling of water from Magat Dam brought by the onslaught of “Ulysses”.

The PN DDRT is composed of 14 personnel led by Marine Lt. Col. Carlo Bubuli and is based at the Naval Forces Northern Luzon's Naval Base Camilo Osias in Sta. Ana, Cagayan.

The team is equipped with a rubber boat with an outboard motor and other DRRT equipment. Three of the DDRT members are corpsmen from MBLT-10 and a PN reservist trained in emergency response operations. (PNA)

Understanding Acronyms in the Tree Climbing Industry Part 2

After we released our blog post explaining what all of these crazy abbreviations in the tree climbing industry mean, we realized that it would be a bit easier to explain all of them with some pictures with graphics. This blog should help illustrate what we were talking about and the 2 blog posts can be used in conjunction with each other to give you a better understanding of the different abbreviations as well as some of the climbing systems that would be used with them. Let’s take a look! First up is DdRT or MRS which stand for Doubled Rope Technique and Moving Rope System. They are both the same thing but MRS really helps illustrate what the heck is going on when you are using an MRS climbing system… The rope is moving!

Next up is SRT or SRS and this follows right along the same lines as the DdRT and MRS mix up. SRT stands for Single Rope Technique or Static Rope Technique while SRS stands for Stationary Rope Technique. Stationary Rope Technique is a far better explanation as to what is happening because the rope doesn’t move at all but the climber does move along the rope as they ascend and descend the rope. Pretty simple! DRT is one that has been confused with DdRT for far too long. Then climbers started adding 2 SRS systems to one rope that was double! It was even more confusing!! DRT stands for Double Rope Technique and it is usually referring to foot locking while DSRT or DSRS stand for Double Stationary Rope System whereas 2 SRS systems are attached to the same rope that is split in half, just like a Triple Threat or something along those lines.

Webcomic Ideas -Need Opinions!

Hi there fam.

So, I’ve been interested in doing a webcomic for a while and think I'm going to try to get on that. However, I have so many ideas on my mind that I need the thoughts of the people to decide which story to tell. So, here are the basic outlines of three of my ideas. Choose whichever one you like the most and just comment which one is your favorite. Okay, here they are:

Sepulcher 66 - In the middle of modern L.A., a group of ragtag paranormal investigators, including a failed actor, a vampiric French monarch, and a pet one-eyed cat, to name a few, must combat otherworldly forces while trying to manage their base of operations: a rundown mini market. Oh, and their preferred mode of transportation is a stolen Sunday school bus. Classic. Comical with dark themes and satire.

2149 - In the year 2149, the universe as we know it became no more. In a last ditch attempt to try to change fate itself, various gods were thrown back in time to do battle for the title of God King. This champion would wield unimaginable power and thus would be able to stop the end of reality. The cosmic battle eventually comes to Earth, where a preteen boy meets Skai, an ice dragon goddess. The unlikely pair team up to defeat other power-hungry gods and discover more about themselves than ever imagined. Action/fantasy with a lighthearted feel.

DDRT - Ravine, a world once ruled by ethereal beings, has been inhabited by humans with magical abilities for centuries. These beings, known as Potentialists, have been gifted with powers beyond belief. Despite their moral affiliations, eleven humans have always been chosen to have incredible abilities, with each Potentialist having their magic reborn into a new body at the time of their death. Now, as a dark warlock and his army threaten Ravine with destruction, one of the current Potentialists, Persephone Dematrio, searches for allies to combat the looming evil. As she and a mute farm boy, Faux, travel the world seeking guidance and strength, both discover that uniting the 10 other Potentialists, the world’s best chance at defeating the warlock’s forces, may be more difficult than ever imagined. Fantasy/adventure/action with violent/dark themes.
