Why did Darkstalker put such a strong enchantment on Glory…?
Because he saw what would happen if he didn’t.
[ID]
Glory slashed at Darkstalker’s tongue, and it severed sickeningly. Darkstalker roars as her venom spits and and melts his eyes. His scales we’re hard as diamonds, yet they began to melt and bubble as black venom seeped into his skin. It was eating his eyes so fast he couldn’t think, the pain was indescribable. Deathbringer is surging forward with smoke in his mouth and a spear in his talons. Other dragons are flapping towards and away from them. Moon and Qibli are racing towards them. Their faces are all contorted in rage and fear. The sun is setting over the forest.

𝐁𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐃𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐑𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐒 - 𝐁𝐑𝐀𝐒𝐒-𝐅𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐇
The flesh of a Bloodthirster has both the qualities of skin and unyielding metal depending upon the situation. The sheen carried by a Bloodthirster is due both to it's combustive blood-perspirant and the metallic quality of it's dermis. However, the metallic look isn't just for show. Even in a "relaxed" state, Bloodthirsters have tough, largely insensate skin-- the softest flesh on their bodies is on their noses, ears, joints, groins, tails, and anything internal. Meanwhile, they backs, necks, shoulders, and hands are especially calloused. It isn't uncommon to see a Bloodthirster littered with spears, swords, and arrows as it's skin makes pulling free nuisances difficult. When in combat or anticipating combat, the skin hardens. Like breathing, this is both a voluntary and involuntary reflex. A Bloodthirster anticipating a battle will harden it's flesh without thought, but this brass flesh can also be hardened at will. For example, a Bloodthirster can use it's arm as a make-shift buckler if need-be. There are actually animals with similar abilities-- namely the Starfish. Furred Bloodthirsters have extra layer of protection, their thick, gore-matted hair provided an additional barrier for enemies to overcome. Blunt physical trauma is the least affective against Bloodthirster skin and slashing damage is negligible at best. The best offense against a Deathbringer is a weapon designed to pierce armor, particular on the aforementioned "soft" bits.

Deathbringer
Deathbringer, this was the name they gave me
Since my duty is to set all hopeless souls free
Of their bleak lives I intend to break the binds
Until at last all sorrow is gone from their minds
The methods I often propose are indeed drastic
For to break away all emotions must go static
One night, she arrived, eyes drenched in tears
Their voices, taunting her she could still hear
I offer her a fine glass of poison, one last drink
So that her weary eyes would never again blink
She took it, to rid herself of their remarks at last
As the liquid was going down her throat, so fast
And another, a sad boy, his mind filled with fire
He could never have the love he deeply desired
I gave him a blade, to let his sorrows flow away
The blood taking it all while he lets his body lay
He listened, and accepted the deal I presented
One slash, another, to erase all that was tainted
Then, a young lady sought me, it was her turn
Wished to feel again, for that she would yearn
A rope, to block the air from entering her lungs
No more troubles will come as her body hangs
No other way to make that empty feeling end
So she tied a noose, and let her body suspend
He came here to meet me, with his lonely heart
The so called love of the blood tore him apart
Alone, beaten, starved, he had nowhere to run
I had the perfect solution for him, a loaded gun
He accepted for the despair only grew stronger
Thus he aimed the gun, and he pulled the trigger
However, I was at times met with resistance
There were some who refused my assistance
They considered a few of my means of escape
Yet didn't take the offer of forever dreamscape
What I proposed, as it seems, made them doubt
Some even sought help, in order to cast me out
Those who seek me out for help will do as I say
Despite some managing from me to break away
Too strong for me, even if this they don't know
I will need to find them again in their lowest low
But desperate souls shall always hear my call
Any time the misfortune upon them shall befall

FFXIVWrite2020 4 - Clinch
Oh, she really should have seen this coming.
Their aether has been strange the second Rheena met them, and as time moved on it only grew more… muddled. When at first it was two puddles of paint, the two colours have mixed and blended together more and more. And in her foolishness, she blamed this phenomenon on an obscured vision from attuning to her new strength.
Well, in any case, here they are now. As steel clashes against steel, Rheena is faced with an uncomfortable truth.
"Do you have any idea how ridiculous you look? Flailing about like a wild beast in a battle against yourself?"
"..."
They even talk in her voice.
Fr- her other side is barely giving her room to breathe. Their swings mirror the ones she was taught, but the ferocity behind them threatens to break through her parries. Like a distant memory of a swordsman clinging to their life, fighting for the chance to suffer one more day,  their attacks are desperate. Clank. This one reverberates in her arms. Dark energy flings past her and the aether hums. Stonework crumbles as darkness crashes into it. She gasps, hands tightening around the sword’s hilt. Knights yell something, but it is lost in the adrenaline of battle. It’s only the two of them now.
Darkness flares up again and envelops the other, they throw themself against Rheena, and despite being a perfect copy of herself, they push her back easily. She slams against stone with a dull noise, clinking as the sword is flung from her grasp. The stinging, cold Coerthan air tastes of blood.
And then, as sun is reflected by moon, suffering turns against her as black flames fray the fabric of existence once more. Truth laughs bitterly as the force pinning the miqo'te against the wall increases, and lifts their sword with one hand.
"Look. You're doing it again! Bravo, Rheena, bravo!"
The sickly sweet tone of mockery seeps deep into her flesh. It sticks in the cuts, viscous and burning. And through all the pain, shame and blood, the curtain is lifted and Rheena sees.
The air is cut in two as Deathbringer arcs downward. The aether roars, and -
Sword meets magic, shockwave sending it flying. And finally, she raises her voice.
"Enough."
The other stumbles. Rheena takes the chance to push them back and grab the sword they wrought from her grasp. No turning away anymore. She faces her problems head on, from now on, the silent promise made with a forceful slash forward.

Direguards
The direguard monsters from 4th edition's Monster Manual 2 are undead who were granted unusual magics from a dark ritual they entered into. Their creator and master can place quotas on them, demanding a certain amount of death they must spread within a time limit or face immediate destruction. One very interesting feature of both direguard's stat blocks is their 50 foot truesight, almost as unusual in 4th edition as it is in 5th now. The source of this incredibly powerful vision is unremarked upon, and I don't have an actual reason for why these monsters out of any were granted it. Whatever the reason, it's fascinating to see it show up so unexpectedly, and I decided to lean into it a little, especially with the deathbringer.
Tumblr media
Direguard Deathbringer Medium undead, neutral evil Armor Class 13 (16 with mage armor) Hit Points 82 (15d8+15 Speed 30 ft. Str 17 Dex 17 Con 13 Int 19 Wis 14 Cha 20 Skills Deception +8, Insight +5, Intimidation +8, Perception +5 Damage Immunities force, poison Damage Resistances necrotic, bludgeoning, slashing and piercing damage from nonmagical weapons Condition Immunities exhaustion, frightened, paralyzed, petrified, poisoned, unconscious Senses darkvision 120 ft., truesight 50 ft., passive Perception 15 Languages Common, any languages its creator spoke Challenge 8 (3900 XP) Spellcasting. The direguard deathbringer is a 11th-level spellcaster. Its spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 16, +8 to hit with spell attacks). The direguard deathbringer has the following sorcerer spells prepared: Cantrips (at will): blade ward, eldritch blast, friends, mage hand, message, shocking grasp 1st level (4 slots): detect magic, disguise self, false life, shield 2nd level (3 slots): detect thoughts, hold person 3rd level (3 slots): clairvoyance, counterspell, slow 4th level (3 slots): greater invisibility 5th level (2 slots): telekinesis 6th level (1 slots): disintegrate Innate Spellcasting. The direguard deathbringer's spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 16). The direguard deathbringer can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components: At will: mage armor 3/day each: magic missile (as an 8th level spell) ACTIONS Multiattack. The Direguard Deathbringer makes 2 bone claw attacks. Bone Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d4+3) slashing damage plus 10 (3d6) force damage. Vile Command (Recharges After A Short Or Long Rest). For 1 minute, the deathbringer can utter a special command or warning whenever a nonhostile undead that it can see within 30 feet it makes an attack roll or saving throw. The creature can add a d4 to its roll provided it can hear and see the deathbringer. A creature can only benefit from one Vile Command or Leadership die at a time. This effect ends if the deathbringer is incapacitated.
The direguard deathbringer (what a ridiculous name) was a leader and elite monster, designed to lead other monsters into battle, and its primary means of attack was a force blast attack. However, I looked at the deathbringer's given skills in the original and it seems to fit a roll of spy or counter spy quite well, so I decided to lean it further in that direction, making it a relatively powerful spellcaster that has most of its spell list specialized in manipulation or investigation, with just a few useful spells to fight back with. However, I did give it mage armor and magic missile (at a very high spell slot) as innate spells, to call back to the original's powers and abilities tied to force. The deathbringer is better suited in a fight to using its Vile Command to bolster lesser undead, then supporting with spells such as slow and counterspell, using its magic missiles to damage where needed, and holding its disintegrate back for a guaranteed kill or desperate attempt at escape. Aside from its cantrips, it has no other damaging spells to work with and so without allies it wants to escape or destroy its enemies quickly.

How exactly did Theodore get stuck inside that glass box? And what about the other Velvet Attendants and Igor?
Thieves in Inaba Part 93
As Mishma is dragged into the cell and locked away, the symbol of the Moon Arcana appears over the cage…acting as a sort of lock.
Ren grunts in frustration, placing a hand on his mask. “Come! Sandalphon!”
But his mask sparks, causing him to kneel down. “What…? This has never happened before…”
From within the Velvet Room, the remaining siblings watch on with great concern.
“Theodore foolishly went on his own to aide the wild cards…” Margret sighs. “While his capture is of no consequence…it is still fatal for him to be in the human world for too long.”
“Sister, we need to run to his aide!” Lavenza insists. “I know we must have faith in the Wild Cards but…our own family has been taken!”
Igor shakes his head. “It is too risky to let you all come out. Should none of you remain, it will become harder to repel the darkness from our living space.”
“So you would abandon Theodore?!” Lavenza is enraged. “I cannot believe this..”
Elizbeth places a hand on her younger sister’s shoulder and smiles. “Theodore will return, just like he always has.”
“How can you be sure, sister?”
Margret sees the hurt on her youngest sister’s face, and then looks to the battle…seeing the Persona users struggle to fight the draws of the Crawling Darkness.
“We must only act when we see it fit to aide humanity. And with it’s current protectors in trouble Master…I must object to your statement.”
Lavenza looks up to Margret, hope in her eyes.
“I shall take my sisters to aide not only our idiot of a brother, but those who need it the most.” She raises a hand and a door appears.
Igor sighs, and offers a nod. “Seal the door, Margret. And do not expend too much of your power.”
Shadowy arms reach out from the sprouted TVs as they go after members of the Investigation Team. Yosuke is trying his best to dodge them to the best of his abilities.
“Okay! I kinda get what’s going on here! If we get sucked in..our Persona gets sealed and our connection is blocked. This is why Ren couldn’t summon Sandalphon.”
Futaba nods, flying her persona around spiraticly in an attempt of throwing off the perusing chains. “The others down below must be dealing with this too!”
Yu takes a deep breath, as a tarot card manifests before him. “Sraosha!”
But upon shattering the card….nothing happens. Yu freezes as his eyes slowly widen in realization.
“Nanako-chan? Can you help us out again with these shadow weaknesses?” Makoto asks. “I can’t do this by myself, you know.”
But she receives no reply.
Dojima looks around, panicked. “Why aren’t we getting a reply? Is there a bit of a delay?”
Adachi shakes his head. “No…this is normally instant. Her TV turned on…and these TVs have…shadows…DAMNIT!”
Yu runs at full force, charging directly at Deathbringer with sword drawn.
“YOU SON OF A BITCH!”
He laughs, holding out his sythe and swinging it to block his oncoming attack. “Once again, you let your emotions leave you open…Seeker of Truth.”
Yu is then struck by the blade of the scyte, knocking him down hard…face first. A foot is placed on his back.
“The folly of your actions…see it before you human.” He pulls his collar up, showing as his friends fight in vein to escape the shadow arms…but are unable to.
“Yu!”
“Senpai!”
“SENSEI!”
Ren and Akechi fire shots at Deathbringer from either side in an attempt at pulling his attention away.
Sho then slashes at the man, knocking him off of Yu and leaving him open for an attack by Messiah.
But, despite some shadow mist leaking out of him…Maou stands tall.
“Damnit..I thought for sure that would have worked…” Akechi shakes his head.
Yu stands up, and a bunch of Tarot cards surround him…with several grayed out.
“Have I…lost…? with this many gone…I can’t use Izanagi-no-Okami to it’s fullest…”
A hand is placed on his shoulder, a familiar one.
“This isn’t like you, Yu. “ Margeret states. “You have overcome your fair share of conflicts…and you still have people who are willing to fight alongside you.”
Lavenza nods, holding the Grimore book close to her chest. “She is right. As long as you have friends and people you trust by your side, you cannot fail.”
Yu looks to his fellow Wild Cards and those who remain, all of which are smiling.
“Right. This isn’t over. Everyone, push forward. We will win this!”

Best if DC: Week if December 12th, 2018
Best of this Week: Hawkman #7 - Robert Venditti, Bryan Hitch, Andrew Currie, Jeremiah Skipper
I used to make fun of Hawkman pretty brutally. The punk ass Hro Talak (anagram of Katar Hol) from the Justice League cartoon, the crazy Carter Hall from Justice League Unlimited, New 52 Savage Hawkman… these were all less than favorable versions of  the character that I’ve read and seen before I really got into comics. Once I started reading more JSA, Hawkworld and Hawkman by Geoff Johns, I started to fall in love and Robert Venditti cemented that with this amazing series.
Hawkman has always had a convoluted character history, but the retcons made to his origin here have been greatly needed and add a much needed weight and sorrow to the character to make him all the more sympathetic, heroic and ultimately tragic.
For the last six issues, Carter Hall has been searching for clues regarding his many pasts and a way to stop the incoming “Deathbringers,” a threat that is apparently more than capable of destroying all life in the universe. Last issue he found a repository containing his first life and original history. Carter, known as Ktar, was originally the Leader of the Deathbringers and he brought untold death and devastation to cosmos in order to bring about the emergence of his God, The Lord Beyond the Void, with every small genocide or “tribute.”  Bryan Hitch’s art here is stunning, but also fails here a bit as we get a sense of how dense the ground is with bodies at Ktar’s feet, but not how far the pile extend because the background kinda flatly ends.
This excursion takes place on Thanagar where he sees a woman, who seems to have survived the massacre and says to him, “You are in pain, warrior.” setting the theme for the rest of the issue.
The woman begins to appear after every tribute, torturing Ktar with her presence as he sinks further and further into despair over his actions. Throughout the issue, Hitch draws Hakman as a man standing tall, but still relatively doubtful of his actions. Hitch does well to also focus the shot in such a way that we get the idea that the feelings are far away from him, but as the woman looks on, the shots get closer and closer signaling that his regret is coming more to the surface. The woman herself is really interesting because I’m not entirely convinced that she’s real, more like a manifestation of Ktar’s guilt at his actions.
It reaches a head when he’s about to sacrifice more people from Thanagar to The Lord and he sees The Woman one more time before betraying his best friend, a Deathbringer named Idamm, destroying the monolith that would bring about the Lord and dies at Idamm’s hands before everything else falls into the void.
We then reach an afterlife of sorts, Ktar surrounded by the skulls of those has killed, and a disembodied voice offers him a choice; to be erased from existence or be cursed to live a life for every one that he has taken for penance, drawing him closer and closer to his final death. I’m going to get this one framed alongside Dark Nights Metal #1 and Doomsday Clock #1, because this was fantastic. High recommend.
-----------------------------------------
I always get excited when there’s a story focused on Alfred.
Runner Up: Batman Annual #3 - Tom Taylor and Otto Schmidt
Why? Because they’re very few and far between with his involvement always being at the side to Batman or the boys and girls under his care. The last time we really got a good arc focused on Alfred was in the awesome First Ally arc of the All-Star Batman series by Scott Snyder. In it, we were shown Alfred’s past as a Batman-like spy figure in his youth before he realized that his father’s legacy as butler to The Wayne family was more important to him than the horrific things he had to do in that life.
But this story was more so about how much Alfred truly does for Bruce and the toll it takes on him. Alfred cooks, he cleans, he makes witty jokes and acts as a doctor whenever Bruce needs him. He cares for Batman and has sacrificed a life of his own to make sure that Bruce was cared for. He sacrifices his sleep, his own health and happiness to make sure that he never gets that dreaded call, that Batman was dead, that his son was dead. And isn’t that truly what these two are for each other at this point? Not just employee/employer, not even just friends, but family as well?
Bruce goes out and has a confrontation with a villain who seeks to destroy companies and people that made drones that were used to kill people in some unspecified conflict. Bruce subdues to villain, but gets stabbed through the Batsuit because it’s slash and bullet proof, not puncture proof. He calls Alfred to come and save him and is almost assaulted by street toughs before Alfred arrives and fights them off, suffering injuries of his own. They go to Doctor Leslie Thompkins who fixes Bruce up while evaluating Alfred, telling him he seriously needs to rest cause the man is always at Batman's beck and call.
Doctor Thompkins tells Bruce to let Alfred take a break and he listens as we cut to a heartwarming scene of Alfred waking up from a restful sleep in a huff, with Bruce remarking with how he burnt the crumpets he made for him. I would spoil more, but I think this is more than worth a read on its own as it ends with Alfred, smiling in contentment.

Some thoughts on Horizon Zero Dawn under the cut. Bound to be spoilers!
Probably the most beautiful game I’ve ever played and I just recently finished Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, so there’s that.
Probably the most fun I’ve ever had with strategic combat. I did extreme stealth and sniping from afar on my first playthrough so my NG+ will most likely be more hack ‘n slash.
I started off thinking Aloy was badass but not a whole lot else. Ended up absolutely loving the shit out of her. And also really, really caring about resolving her long search.
Loved every NPC. They were so varied too. Goddamn, take note Bioware.
I did almost everything to completion, apart from the stuff that mostly annoyed me (cauldrons and hunt lodges). Hunted down every single vantage point, vessel, banuk figures, metal flowers, you name it. The game made me WANT to explore for these things and it made me want to read and listen to every data point. That’s pretty rare for me.
Slowly uncovering the secrets behind the Zero Dawn project and reading about the upcoming global extinction (even if it was thousands of years earlier) filled me with an immense existential dread. Well done for a game about hunting robot dinosaurs.
I’ve seen a lot of people complain about the voice acting and I just don’t get that. I thought the voice acting was stellar and really helped sell the world and its characters. Even tiny audio logs or other collectibles had quality voice acting for the most part.
The final boss was initially a disappointment to me. All the buildup was great but fighting Helis was sorta trivial, holding the ridge was fun but basically amounted to aiming and shooting a cannon for 5 minutes and the final deathbringer fight was just tedious. I’d hoped we’d actually get to fight a functioning Horus unit, but seeing as there’s most likely a sequel coming, I’ll hold out hope for that. Fucking imagine scaling one of those things. I wanna fight a massive sea scorpion, please and thank you.
I cried like a little bitch at the ending. Straight in the goddamn heart.

Specialised Disciplines - Soul Crystals [ref: 217]
Ever since the height of the Allagan Empire in the Third Astral Era, the practice of using crystals to store and impart knowledge has been prevalent in Eorzea. An adornment known as a “soul crystal” is worn close to the skin, where the uncommonly clear facets of the carefully cut shard catch and transcribe the ebb and flow of a soul’s aetherial composition - effectively capturing an imperfect echo of the wearer’s memories. This arcane tool engraved with the myriad deeds of heroes from eras past was employed by many of the disciples of yesteryear to preserve and pass on the skills of successive generations of masters.
The wisdom contained in a soul crystal, however, is not so easily drawn forth - an untrained neophyte cannot simply pick up one of these gems and expect his mind to be flooded with the knowledge of advanced spellcraft or combat techniques. Without first attaining sufficient proficiency and tempering one’s soul to mirror the maturity of the crystal’s contributors, a prospective student will be denied even the slightest glimpse of enlightenment. Thus, as is the case with the more contemporary disciplines, the key to mastering the secrets of a soul crystal lies in diligent study and training.
Specialised Disciplines - Crystals [ref: 217]
Job: Dark Knight Region: Ishgard Era: Year 968, Sixth Astral Era
Dark Knight [ref: 238]
The pious Ishgardian clergy guide the flock, and the devout knights protect the weak. Yet even the holiest of men succumb to the darkest of temptations. None dare to administer justice to these sacrosanct elite residing outside the reach of the law. Who, then, defends the feeble from the transgressions of those meant to guide and protect them? A valiant few take up arms to defend the downtrodden, and not even the holy priests and knights can escape their judgement. Pariahs in their own land, they are known by many as “dark knights”.
Dark Knight - History [ref: 238]
In the year 960 of the Sixth Astral Era, a commoner by the name of Tryphaniel the Unshod was granted knighthood for acts of valour upon the battlefield. A young man with an unwavering sense of justice, Tyrphaniel’s desire to champion the cause of the lowborn was undiluted by his entrance into the privileged world of the nobility. It was this same moral fortitude that bid him trail after clergyman after witnessing the robed figure drag a squirming child from the alleys of the Brume. The knight’s suspicions were confirmed when he entered the secluded domicile of the priest only to find him committing unspeakable acts upon th ebody of the abducted waif. Noticing his unexpected visitor, the clergyman attempted to explain away his vile actions as a form of “exorcism”, but the incensed Tryphaniel drew his sword without hesitation, and answered the babbled excuses with a single, fatal blow.
Rather than praise his heroism, however, the knight’s peers condemned him for slaying a holy member of the church. He was forced to defend his life in a trial by combat, but though he survived, it was decreed that he would be stripped of his knighthood. Unflinching in the face of accusations that he had fallen to darkness, Tryphaniel roared that he would gladly surrender a title that required him to turn a blind eye to a child’s suffering. He cast aside his crested shield - the symbol of his station - and continued his crusade for the commonfolk with no thought or fear for what others held taboo. His righteous deeds inspired some courageous few to embrace the path of the forbidden, and thus the legacy of the dark knight was born.
Dark Knight - Equipment [ref: 238]
Chaos Armour
Passed down through generations of dark knights, this antique set of armour was forged of Ishgardian steel and appears sheathed in a faint nimbus of shadow. While the plates may once have shone like well-polished iron, years of blood spatter have dulled the metal’s natural gleam.
Deathbringer
Some two centuries ago, a troubled smith crafted this weapon as the price for a dark knight to punish a terrible injustice. The knight accepted the payment, and found a fitting name for the greatsword after baptising its blade in the lifeblood of the guilty.
Kumokirimaru
This great katana was forged by a Doman artisan at the behest of Rowena’s House of Splendors. Said to resemble a weapon described in Far Eastern legend - the divine sword that cut down the monstrous spider-spirit “tsuchigumo” - the blade becomes thicker as it nears the tip, giving the weapon a top-heavy balance. In the hands of a master swordsman, however, this awkward weight can be exploited to generate swings powerful enough to cleave through a giant’s thigh. According to the weaponsmith Seika, certain improvements could further enhance the quality of this already devastating weapon.
Dainslaif
Crafted in the Churning Mists at a time when peace prevailed between Dravanian and man, this greatsword and the dragon-like design of its crossguard is representative of that harmonious age. Dainslaif’s creation predates the appearance of dark knights by some centuries, and was originally commissioned for an orthodox knight of high standing. Intended for the purpose of monster slaying, the weapon’s blade was forged with sufficient resilience to endure repeated blows against thick bones and dense hide.
Dark Knight - Tricks of the Trade [ref: 239]
Dark Force
By infusing a vast well of aether with her own inner darkness, the dark knight forms arcane barriers of impregnable midnight. The sight of liquid shadow pouring from a sky torn open by this otherwise benevolent technique is commonly described as “unsettling”.
Hard Slash
A sweeping slash, followed by a punishing upward slice. The most fundamental attack in a dark knight’s repertoire, this technique originated from a now-antiquated style of knightly combat.
Unleash
Releasing his pain and rage upon nearby foes, the dark knight manifests an inky black circle of spikes on the ground around him. All those caught in its thorns are struck by unreasoning terror, and an irresistible need to claw away at its source.
Living Dead
This dark art allows the practitioner to continue fighting through the most heinous of injuries, and exhibit an immunity to pain usually attributed to the shambling undead. Though undeniably effective, abandoning one’s corporeal form to negative energy in this manner, however briefly, is an act fraught with mortal peril.
Dark Knight - Profile - Fray Myste [ref: 239]
Race (Clan): Hyur (Midlander) Gender: Male Age: 25 Epithet: Fray of the Onyx Shade
An orphan of the Brume, a young Fray was set on the dark knight’s path when his future master found him plotting revenge over the body of a friend unjustly executed by Holy See officials. Proving an apt and inquisitive student, Fray approached both the book-bound and physical aspects of his training with equal eagerness. But it was the desire to adi his master and the fiery Sidurgu in their duties that truly drove the youth to excel. Alongside his volatile fellow disciple, Fray later succeeded in rescuing the maiden Rielle from an undeserved fate, but would himself fall afoul of her pursuers. Dragged before the Tribunal for trial by combat, the dark knight fought with skill and righteous rage only to fall to the dancing blade of the court’s champion. It is a testament to Fray’s devotion to life and those he left behind that his soul crystal would burn with such undying intensity...
Dark Knight - Profile - Sidurgu Orl [ref: 239]
Race (Clan): Au Ra (Xaela) Gender: Male Age: 26 Epithet: Sidurgu of the Obsidian Heart
As a child, Sidurgu lived with his family in a frontier town of Othard, until their settlement fell under the subjugation of the invading Garlean Empire. Unable to endure the stifling regime of their conquerors, his parents bundled him into a cart along with their meagre possessions, and fled into the wilderness soon after his sixth nameday. For five years they wandered, seeking a place to belong, before their journeys eventually brought them to Eorzea’s shores. Like many of their race, they found themselves drawn to the plains of Coerthas, where they hoped to adopt the nomadic ways of their ancestors... but neither fate nor the Ishgardians were kind to the Au Ra.
Molded by a life of tragedy, the displaced Xaela found himself well suited to the mantle of a dark knight. Now bereft of family, master, and fellow apprentice, Sidurgu wears his stern demeanour like a suit of armour, impenetrable to all perhaps but his young charge, Rielle.
Dark Knight - Darkness [ref: 239]
Arising from the fear and wrath within the dark knight’s own soul, this shadowy flame feeds greedily on her body’s aether, its sygian fires coursing through her blade and fuelling her eldritch arts. But as ever, such power comes with a price: should the dark knight lose control over this darkness, she will be consumed in a backlash of entropic energies.
Dark Knight - Dark Arts [ref: 239]
Fuelled by the darkness from within ,the dark knight employs these techniques to lend an arcane edge to the blows of her greatsword. Though known for their disdain for shields, the fighting style of the earliest dark knights was nevertheless built upon mundane swordplay, and it was not until several centuries later that one of their order first unlocked the secrets of the dark arts.

TV’s new breed of killer women
After a number of a long time of watching males commit the lion’s share of violence on TV, women have achieved true parity — getting an opportunity to shoot, stab, poison, castrate and in any other case dispose of anybody they need. Arya Stark (Maisie Williams), Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) have embodied this bloodsport since 2011 within the fantasy world of “Sport of Thrones.” On a extra earthly airplane, KGB agent Elizabeth Jennings (Keri Russell) made feminine violence all of the extra stunning when “The Individuals” premiered again in 2013. Elizabeth had no compunction about snapping a neck or slashing a throat to dispatch her victims — all within the title of Mom Russia. It helped put “The Individuals” on the popular culture map and earned Russell two Emmy nominations — and maybe a 3rd for Season 6 (nominations are out Thursday). Her successors in TV land are greater than succesful of finishing up what has turn out to be a grim custom. Right here’s a take a look at a couple of of TV’s “Killer Women.” Emily, “The Handmaid’s Story” (Hulu) Hulu After operating over a safety guard with a automotive in Season 1, Emily (Alexis Bledel) was nonetheless indignant, particularly when she was shipped off to the Colonies, a poisonous wasteland the place wayward handmaids have been despatched to die. She wasn’t there lengthy earlier than she met Mrs. O’Conner (Marisa Tomei), an adulterous commander’s spouse. Emily noticed her as an emblem of the patriarchal oppression of women and poisoned her. However that wasn’t the top of Emily; she was granted a reprieve to return to Gilead, however she was to not be trusted as viewers will see in Wednesday evening’s season finale. Dolores Abernathy, “Westworld” (HBO) John P. Johnson/HBO As a number one determine within the Wild West portion of the Westworld park, there’s no purpose why Dolores (Evan Rachel Wooden) wouldn’t know easy methods to use a gun. However who knew she’d be so good at it? We reckon the homespun sharpshooter has shot dozens of folks, amongst them park patrons, “Westworld” mastermind Robert Ford (Anthony Hopkins), his enterprise companion, Arnold (Jeffrey Wright), her robotic boyfriend, Teddy (James Marsden), Karl Strand (Gustav Skarsgard) and his safety staff within the Forge. Regardless of the way you program her circuit board, Dolores — also referred to as the Deathbringer — is one badass. Villanelle, “Killing Eve” (BBC America) BBC America Don’t let the lengthy blond hair and lithe physique idiot you. Russian murderer Villanelle (Jodie Comer), this yr’s stylish psychopath, is as harmful as Frank Underwood, Tony Soprano and Walter White mixed. As an worker of The 12, this demented Emma Peel goes about her enterprise with no hint of emotion, capably switching accents relying on the nation the place the kill goes to happen — utilizing an unusually sharp hairpin to complete off her victims and, when that turns into too traceable, retrieving one of the vile weapons from the cupboard of cruelty she retains in her Paris residence or mixing up a particular batch of poison. Improbably named after a 19-line poetic type, Villanelle all the time will get her man or lady. TTI: So the Crawling Darkness has taken matters into his own hands. What’s happening to Deathbringer now that the Crawling Darkness is making him lose his free will?
Thieves in Inaba Part 90
The group, now being led by Ryoji makes haste through the crumbling tower. The cracking and whaling echoes throughout all of Inaba.
Makoto looks back at the tower, worry spreading on her masked face. Sae taps her back lightly.
“Hey, you need to stay focused Makoto. We have a city to protect.” She states, her tone serious.
“Sis?! When did you get here?”
“She’s with us.” Kou waves, striking a shadow with the sword he brought.
“I…see. But wait you all should be in the the gym! It’s not safe here!” Makoto is really worried now, looking over everyone.
Adachi shakes his head. “These guys aren’t gonna just turn tail, kid. If they’re insisting on helping…then let ‘em. We’re at the end of our rope anyhow…”
“But…”
Ai chuckles a bit. “You’re used to playing hero right, Phantom Gal? Well we can too. We did it before.”
Kazushi and Kenji high five each other. Hifumi looks around them as more Shadows come to the cloaked girls aide.
“Queen, you are our leader currently. Give us orders.”
Makoto sees everyone around her and grants a solid nod. “Alright. Form a protective area around the house and it’s surrounding areas. If you have a gun stay to the back, melee up front. Adachi and Marie, catch.”
She tosses them both a Soma.
“You sure are a natural leader, kid.” Adachi shakes his head.
“Well, I do plan to go into the police force after all.”
Futaba tracks everything going on. “Great. Makoto and her escortees have been cornered. But they seem to be fending them off.”
“Shit. Should we turn around then?” Ryuji asks.
Ryoji shakes his head. “There’s no time. You need to reach the top before this whole place crumbles into nothingness.”
“Great. Then we just gotta pray old death is willing to square up.” Yosuke sighs.
Chains rattle, which causes the navigators to gasp.
“I sense death!” Fuuka exclaims.
“Great…and I just got back.” Shinji shakes his head. “Well, are we going to fight or book it?”
“Wouldn’t it be suicide if we try to fight a Reaper right now? The whole building’s coming down!” Labrys points out.
“Our numbers are enough to over whelm it. We should be fine if we’re quick about it all.” Minato states.
“You heard him! No using your Persona though, we can’t afford to expend too much mental energy.” Ren adds.
The group rush the oncoming Reaper all at once.
Chihaya looks over her cards, as Takemi walks to the trio at the table.
“Tarrot hm? And what are you doing with these during a crisis?”
“We’re supporting a kid who’s in the middle of all this crap. And why do you care?” Ohya states bluntly.
“Because that ‘kid’ is someone I owe a lot to.” Tae retorts. “He’s in Inaba right?”
The three nod, which makes Tae smile.
“Then I think he’ll do just fine. He stopped one crisis after all…”
Ren’s eyes focus, drawing his knife on the reaper as it goes down.
Kenji manages to shoot down a Shadow. “We’re actually wining! These Shadow things are nothing when there’s this many of us!”
Maiko nods, dodging a shadow the best she can. “I’m not gonna lose! I made a promise to spend time with Minato, and I’m not gonna waste it!”
Minato slices through shadows with his katana, determination shining brightly in his eyes.
Kou and Daisuke are back to back, panting a bit.
“I’m not…giving in…not yet. Inaba’s our terf after all! So we have home advantage!” Kou strkes a shadow.
“On your left! Look out!” Nanako calls out
The duo move out of the way, only for the Fox to slash the shadow with a knife.
Yu moves fast, lighting spells shooting out at any shadow before him as the group goes higher and higher up the tower.
But close to the top, a figure stops them. Cloaked in a familar robe and breathing heavly, it smirks down on the group.
“Servants of Philmons will….welcome.”
“You…what has become of you?” Akechi questions, hand hovering over his sword’s hilt.
“My dear friend Maou, oh how useless he has become.” He cackles. “A puppet that can no longer be used is mere garbage. This puppet’s role has just ended.”
“So you took over his body?” Yu is in disbelif. “This..is..”
“Inhumane? Is that what you were going to say, seeker of truth?” Nythotep laughs. “But of course it is…but I am no mortal.”
“Yeah, you got that right…you’re a piece of shit that needs to wiped off this place!” Sho shouts.
“If you must threaten me like that, then do not hold back Wild Card..show the full extents of your power!”
While the Crawling Darkness clearly laughs, Maou himself seems to be in pain. This doesn’t go unnoticed by Minato, who quietly nods.
The final battle…has finally come.

TII- Deathbringer and Nythotep have a new accomplice, and she seems to be hunting down Nanako while the others are in the tower!
Thieves in Inaba Part 86
A loud slam echos from the ‘Throne Room’ of the Tower. Nythotep is furious about the current events, yet Maou remains reactionless.
“This is unforgivable! First those useless Persona users we brought back fail to kill even one of them…but one even managed to turn on us! I would have thought you provided them with the tools to do the deed, my friend.”
“I did….but what reason is this harm bringing. We’re tearing people apart…hurting others…and prolonging the lives of those who should be dead…” Maou shakes his head. “Why are we-”
“Enough of your questions, Maou. Has the Avatar brought us the Arcana yet?” The masked darkness grows impatient.
“It seems…he too has turned on us. He led them to the stairwell where the users are…they have escaped the tower.” He points to a TV, displaying Ryoji walking alone up to them.
A frustrated hissing sigh escapes Nythotep. “Very well…we will just have her collect the Arcana. If most are outside the tower, this becomes easier.”
“But…is it even right? She’s like our other targets…and if she and he come in contact…won’t it cause a….Paradox?”
“Paradoxes are for time travel, fool. She is but a product of what little memories I could borrow from that useless attendant.” He chuckles, laughing as he looks to a glass coffin with Theodore inside. “To think he would try to aide the Wild Cards behind his sister’s backs. And with out his Master’s consent too!”
Banging can be heard from within the glass as Theo tries his hardest to break out. He’s clearly speaking, but the glass is soundproof…
“I’m going to watch from the balcony, you’re free to join me…partner.” The Crawling Darkness leaves the throne room and heads outside, leaving Maou alone.
Theo continues to bang, but Deathbringer waves his hands…allowing Theo to be heard.
“-and so help me as soon as they get here humanity will…you can hear me? Why are you doing this…Maou?” Theo asks, concerned.
“They betrayed me. The whole world did. What is happening now…is fate.” His hood seems to mask more of his face now.
“You say this…but do you truly believe it?”
But Deathbringer…says nothing.
Twisted Inaba
Shadows die left and right as Makoto guides Sojiro and the others to the Persona Training Center. They try their best to back her up, but only the Fox seems to be doing a lot more assisting.
“We’re close to our destination! Don’t break formation!” Makoto orders, running over a few more Shadows as they move further.
But while they might be doing well, the same can’t be said for Dojima’s group. With Marie growing weaker due to Inaba’s constant harm and Adachi’s overuse of his Persona…their defense is weakening.
“We need to keep this…place safe…” Marie pants, knocking away a few shadows with her bag in a slumped stance.
“Neither of you can stand though…” Dojima worries, looking them both over. “Go inside I can handle things from here.”
“Hell…no.” Adachi objects. “I’m not letting you throw your life away. If you’re gone then who the heck’s gonna be there…for Nanako, huh?”
“I know…but you have to have faith in me. I won’t let myself die because of that fact.” Dojima smirks.
Adachi stands up straight, shooting a shadow in defiance of Dojima’s orders.
“Adachi didn’t you hear me? Get inside!”
“If either one of us is gonna throw their lives away, it’s better to be me then you Dojima-san. You and your daughter….are about the closet things to family that I have. I…might not have admitted it before, but you both made working in this town worth it. If only I cared more then I did, huh?” Adachi shakes his head
“Wow, no need to be so dramatic weirdo.” Marie rolls her eyes.
But then, a slash is heard as Marie’s bag is torn at the strap. Looking over to the source they find a hooded figure much like Deathbringer.
“Oh great, this asshole again.” As Adachi prepares to summon his Persona, a naginata is pointed right at his face.
“Move.” A female voice speaks, commanding and serious.
“Yeeeeeeeah, not happening.”
Dojima aims his gun at the figure, eyes focused. “You can speak right? Then you’re not like the rest… Lower your weapon, and we can settle this peacefully…alright?”
“Negotiations will not be needed. I only require the relinquishing of the Justice Arcana and you.”
“Arcana…? What do you mean?”

---December Order Form Notes
Preorder Form Change: We have continually tried to improve our MK1 Comic Preorder forms  based on feedback from users and observations as to how they are being used.  Recent forms have focussed on launch titles only (because on the whole that's what the forms were being used for).  We have had a few requests from users to find a way to show all the comics that can possibly be preordered.  The December form now has an ALL NEW COMICS mega listing showing everything expected to ship to MK1 over the coming months.  That list is big and  ungainly but if you use your browsers “find on page" or  ctrl F function you should be able to locate the titles you are after.. It’s a good way to  jump on a series from the next new issue.  Ultimatly I would like to replace the Preorder Forms with the Diamond Comics PREVIEWS PULLBOX method but it has yet to open up to International users and retailers.
Just a reminder you don't need to use the forms to place orders with MK1.   Use them to  view the expected releases or jump  to the online PREVIEWS WORLD info.. We will happily take perorders via phone, email, txt, photocopied checklists, circled Comic Shop News articles etc..  December 2019 Highlights follow..
