everyone’s already talked about how welly boots by the amazing devil was definitely written while joey was reading the witcher books and working on the show, and how geralt and ciri’s relationship are definitely influential in the song’s creation but like. has anyone talked about the song as is?

it’s from the perspective of a too-soon dead father, telling a story to—presumably—his living daughter whose ears can no longer hear his words and yet he continues to tell the tale. and as she grow up he continues to speak to her, always in her corner, even and especially when she breaks down and screams her hatred toward him in her grief—“I’ve been so scared, you left me here behind, do you not care? how the fuck am I supposed to carry on… without you here?”—he is still there, willing with everything he has left that she will still feel his love, feel the comfort in the ghostly hand on her back, feel his strength and take solace in him, even though they are worlds apart now.

and as she stands in the grass outside her childhood home she feels the wind whip at her, enveloping her as the storm rolls in. she turns to go back inside and freezes.

a brand new pair of scarlet welly boots sits on the front porch. just like the last pair her father bought her before he died. and she finally knows.

theres a specific collective delirium where fandom will obsess over some guy whose death is, in the great scheme of things, something people could never earnestly give a fuck about. but they will want more space for him bc he has slightly tousled brown hair, laconic mien and pretty much fucking nothing to recommend him. and brother i don't have that dog in me.

A mildly frustrating thing about Act 6 hate that perpetuates in certain corners in the fandom is when you try to talk about, you know, the text, and people start acting like because they don't like Act 6/think it's poorly written these are suddenly things that like, didn't happen.

Idk I like a lot of Act 6 so obviously I'm biased but I think it's very counterintuitive and tedious to talk to people who treat characters like they didn't evolve past Act 5. People who act like things like Rose's alcoholism is OOC and like a bunch of characters were just assassinated by Act 6 really need to reckon with the fact that these are still developments that happened and need to be acknowledged if you want to do any genuine analysis of a character (or the work itself). You don't need to LIKE these developments, but yes, Dave DID say that and your lack of enjoyment of a character's development doesn't suddenly remove from its significance. Characters exist in text in more than just the places you like lol

Hii could I request some creeps like Ben drowned or Toby and more with a new reader proxy (whose job is like to check up on other proxies like their health and stuff but other than that they ignore everybody and go on some missions) that is very timid, introverted, calm and isolated? In their free time they'll always be seen either on their phone (probably playing some kids game like cooking mama or hello kitty adventure or Roblox bc it's iconic) or just listening to music. When you'll try totalk to them you would find out they're pretty shy and blunt but very polite and patient? Thank uu

And, just as Ben had planned, you slowly begin to warm up to them as you playing throughout the day, with Toby occasionally running to get snacks for everyone.

Toby downed a whole box of Caprisuns and no one said a word.

Now, Toby and Ben’s silly little meme avatars are at the first of your friends list whenever you log on, and you always invite them to whatever game you’re playing.

Ben has an entire collection of mansions and restaurants on Bloxburg, and usually attempts to kidnap players with you.

Toby will giggle under the covers on call, and occasionally scream from a scary game, usually the Roblox version of FNAF or something similar.

And just like that, you found yourself two new friends who will stick by you until the end.

hiding from leaks rn so im posting to preoccupy myself. still thinking about how the first and so far only time that Larys has ever made physical contact with another person on the show was him helping Aegon back to bed… still screaming too!!!

at first i was like mmmmmmm idk about this new scrappy skinny scrawny Jim Kirk but as I think about it as resident JTK expert (Phd) I am coming around to the accuracy of post-Tarsus massacre Commander Kirk desperate to embrace the fleeting impermance of happiness by embodying compassion (towards Uhura and La'an) and appreciation for transient silly pleasures (like cookies or hotdogs) AS WELL AS being actively hypervigilant towards his own & other's safety (La'an, The Enterprise vs the Romulans, Uhura) as a trauma response towards the horrors of genocide he experienced first hand.

Also his devil-may-care mien & deep respect towards command in TOS is replaced by a somewhat less likeable ambition to succeed in SNW... another off-shoot to this trauma. We see he has a desire to climb towards rank (for control & protection) yet does not fully embody the ability to handle it with the grace needed to become the legend just yet.

also I've ended up liking the inversion of TOS physical physique that SNW gives us with a more muscular/appearance-oriented (anxious) Spock & a small scrappy (traumatized) Jim ... it appears to be well thought out & a stepping stone to their eventual comfortable self-actualizations in TOS.

The fact that Dream had to deal with the Greek Pantheon as his family in law is both horrifying and absolutely hilarious. Did the poor naive soul walk into that thinking it couldn't be any worse then his family? ... There's I'll do anything for my beloved wife to be and dealing with Lord grope first, think never as your father in law. Yeah sure Dream, live separately from your wife to 'keep it special'. I'm pretty sure that's code for, keep your entire family of chaotic neutral rabbits way way... Way over there where I don't have to see, speak or hear them. Ever! Wow, think of the mutual family gatherings. At some point, Desire and Aphrodite shared the same breathing space and yet the world somehow surivied past the hellenistic period. Amazing!
