books I’ve read in 2023 📖 no. 100
The Decagon House Murders by Yukito Ayatsuji
“In my opinion, mystery fiction is, at its core, a kind of intellectual puzzle. An exciting game of reasoning in the form of a novel. A game between the reader and the great detective, or the reader and the author. Nothing more or less than that.”

I’m reading And Then There We’re None for the first time ever while also somehow 99% unspoiled for it right?
And I’m actually getting a little irritated at so many thrillers I’ve read that basically have “an homage to and then there were none!” in the summary. I thought it was just the ‘people trapped on and island and getting picked off one by one’ thing… but no! A lot of books apparently rip off the characters’ manner of death sometimes even in the same order as this book. It’s sooooo 😬
I guess it explains the popularity of bees in some of these books

I really like that this sentiment exists here. I’m sure this group of detectives are gonna keep at it and all, but having someone bring this up is really nice
