Last night's numbers! (Explanation of challenge here.)
I did not declutter on Tuesday night. I needed a little break, and I worked instead on sorting mail into keep, shred, and recycle, which is another neverending battle.
Also, I was dreading the dresser drawer I did tonight, frankly. It was jam-packed full of stuff, scattered and disorganized, mostly sentimental stuff all mixed together. I kind of wish I'd taken a picture of it before I started.
I made myself do it tonight because I knew if I didn't, I'd keep putting it off, and all my momentum would fizzle out.
As much as I was dreading it, it only took an hour, and it would've taken less if I hadn't been counting every item I discarded.
Still, that one drawer took an hour.
In that single drawer, there were 313 things to discard. Most of them small, some of them teeny. You wouldn't believe it, looking at this small trash pile, but I promise you.

And it's easy to think, ah, it was just one drawer, what's the big deal? But a) I had to go through every single item in that drawer and decide what to do with it, and b) this house is FULL of spaces like that.
Here is also a very tiny pile of 9 donations. Like I said, most of the stuff in that drawer was either sentimental, trash, or both.

Something fun: This is apparently the first time I wrote my name (if we're being generous), when I was 3.

So tonight's number is 313 + 9 = 324. I'm pulling the 54 post-it, as it's the largest one left.
Running total is 1,037.
Over a thousand items discarded or ready to donate, in just over a week.
And I'm just getting started.

★ how to declutter your phone ★

i spend a lot of my time on my phone, and most likely you do too (don't worry, i'm not here to call you out). if you never organize or declutter your phone, after a while your storage gets full and you can't find anything on it. here's a list of things you can do to keep your phone looking clean and organized:
⋆ ˚。 ⋆୨♡୧⋆ ˚。 ⋆
✧ move new and unorganized apps into folders
✧ delete all unneeded alarms
✧ delete unneeded photos and videos
✧ delete unneeded screenshots and screen recordings
✧ close all tabs
✧ delete unneeded notes
✧ add upcoming events to calendar
✧ delete unneeded bookmarks on browser
✧ organize apps on homescreen
✧ delete and unsubscribe unneeded emails
✧ organize social media (unfollow people, update profiles)
✧ delete unused apps
✧ organize playlists
⋆ ˚。 ⋆୨♡୧⋆ ˚。 ⋆
if you do all this once a month, or atleast every few months, your phone will stay nice and tidy. it might feel like a big project the first time, but once you start doing this regularly, it'll be much easier and faster. have a great day, stay organized ♡

Its been a while. I had to be intentional and put “declutter 18 things” on my To-Do list, and that’s what I did!! 18 things down!
I seriously can believe how much progress I’ve made.. But at the same time I started to feel overwhelmed and guilty about the fact that I accumulated so many things. I started to think to myself - I need to stop buying junk, and I can’t keep making impulse buys..
I decluttered my books today and while I was going through them I sat down and read through one of them and came across a part of a chapter that spoke about setting goals as a positive statement.
Instead of saying “I must to stop filling my space with junk”
I should say “I want to make more meaningful purchases”
Instead of saying: “l need to stop leaving my room a mess”
I should say: “I enjoy keeping my room welcoming, neat and organized”
You’re more likely to achieve goals this way because you’re getting what you want vs. restricting and limiting yourself.
It honestly boosted my mood when I began feeling down about all that I’ve accumulated. Made me realize that through my actions I was working towards a life that I want for myself and that setting goals that make me feel guilt is pointless.

Lent is traditionally a time for reflection and self-improvement, extending beyond spiritual growth to practical aspects like financial health and personal organization. This article introduces the "40 Bag Challenge," encouraging individuals to declutter their homes by donating 40 bags of items over the 40 days of Lent. Additionally, it suggests financial practices such as paying with cash to curb spending, automating bill payments, reducing entertainment expenses to pay off debt, adopting a healthier diet, and incorporating daily exercise. These combined efforts aim to promote a more organized, financially stable, and healthier lifestyle during the Lenten season. #Lent, #decluttering, #40BagChallenge, #financialplanning, #debtreduction, #healthyhabits, #PersonalGrowth https://www.canajunfinances.com/money-and-lent/

Clean your home, clear your mind : Week 2
Hello everyone and welcome to week 2 of the Clean Mama declutter challenge. As expected, this week was a bit busier, which meant that I didn’t do anything about the living room this week. The only thing I did do was take down the Christmas tree as it was collected on Saturday morning. Even the tree decorations are still on my living room table. It will probably take me 2 days to do the living…

day 9 of reviewing whatever the daily read-this-to-earn-points manga chapter on kodansha is, and already it's a repeat (Even Given The Worthless “Appraiser” Class, I’m Actually The Strongest, which I really don't wanna reread or read more of). I guess I could pick something if I want to be really rigorous, but tbh I'm glad there's an excuse to skip today.
#i nearly forgot because i was busy doing tidying/decluttering so at least it was a good day to skip#kodansha daily review challenge#daily review challenge#i really should start switching to only using one of these tags but i can't decide

Last night's numbers! (Explanation of challenge here.)
I must admit, I did not take the donations to drop them off yesterday, and I know I won't tonight, but I HAVE to do it tomorrow. They're building up.
I decided to work on the dressers again. Cleaned out two drawers fully and another 3 drawers halfway. There are a lot of sentimental items shoved under the clothes that I don't feel comfortable decluttering on my own. I may put it all in a tote or two to get it out of the dresser drawers, but that can wait for the moment.
Tonight, I cleared 82 pieces of trash and found 55 pcs of thrashed clothes to discard (mostly old socks).

Gathered up 21 things to donate. Mostly men's shirts, a good chunk of them still with tags.

82 + 55 + 21 = 158 for the night!
Pulling the 55 post-it as it's the largest remaining.
Running total is 713!
I've got two more dresser drawers to do - one is crammed full of STUFF, so that may take a couple of nights - and then comes...
The walk-in closet. *ominous music*

I kind of want to do another decluttering challenge. Some stuff has migrated here and there. I'll have to come up with parameters. Maybe start tomorrow.

I promised, and I delivered-

Some recent empties-I think this is the first eye palette I've used to completion. I would use it a bit more but the black has such bad fallout 🫣

The Tree of Sorrows: A Story of Grief, Swedish Death Cleaning, and Finding Peace
© 2024, Tree of Sorrows, Photograph by Stacy L. Maxwell Over the last few years, while Swedish Death Cleaning is often associated with preparing for one’s own passing, I’ve found it to be a powerful and meaningful tool for navigating grief and loss in the present. It certainly reminds me just how temporary everything is, including me, and I find a deep peace in accepting that I’m only here for a…

20 more things down!
Was feeling particularly anxious this morning because I spent yet another morning procrastinating and scrolling on my phone..
I got myself up at 12pm and told myself I would make breakfast and then declutter an amount on the challenge.
I put on The Minimalist Podcast and started slowly. I always forget how just allowing yourself to work at the pace you’re comfortable with starting off goes a long way. It doesn’t help to keep telling myself “someday”
The Minimalist said something really nice on the episode I listened to, it was: “Someday” does not exist. It is just merely a trick the mind plays to avoid the present moment.
Gentle reminder: Slow starts are still starts. Focus on making just 5% progress towards something you want to accomplish. The rest will follow. Let’s “someday” be today.

No Buy Review
This month was interesting to say the least. For the most part I was able to avoid most temptation to buy things that were on my no list. This last week has been the most difficult. I think in many ways I built up this idea that come September my no buy was up and I could “go wild” so to speak. Being able to tell myself yes later has helped me manage any desires earlier in the month, but this…
