#ShutDownCanada actions continue today in an ongoing and furious response to the RCMP raids on Wet'suwet'en territories, February 11, 2020.
Ports being shut down in some areas, bridges and streets and trains blocked. Youth and others still chaining themselves to legislatures and sitting in at offices. The people have blocked all entrances to the British Columbia legislature, which had to cancel its first session today. Here are photos of solidarity efforts in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where people are shutting down a train line and a shipyard at the port.
"When Unist’ot’en needs support, Block the trains and block the ports!”
No to Alton Gas and No to Coastal Gaslink!

March 14th-15th 3PM
STARTING NOW UNTIL 3PM TOMORROW:
Physical isolation does not--and cannot--mean we let up the pressure to get the RCMP OFF Wet’swet’en land! NOW, and sometime over the next 24 hours, post a photo of yourself one or all of the calls below (e.g. dialling the number) to the Facebook event and share it on your page with one or all of the following hashtags. If you do not feel comfortable posting in the public event, you can also send Leap UofT a private message. Find a sample call script at the bottom! #Alleyesonwetsuweten #Wetsuweten #DefendtheYintah #Unistoten #Gidimten #climatejustice #NoPipelines #NoAccessWithoutConsent #ReconciliationisDead If you post before 3pm tomorrow (SUNDAY), you will be entered into a draw to win pieces from land defenders Somer Johnston’s Indigi.Arts and Keitha Tobias (up to five prizes!)! Be sure to share widely and signal-boost #AllEyesOnWetsuweten We’re here to make sure the government knows that a pause in support rallies does NOT mean a lull in support.

SCRIPT BELOW CUT
"Hello , my name is [NAME] and I’m [one of your constituents/calling from Toronto/a student at the University of Toronto/etc]. I’m calling with regards to the federal government’s ongoing refusal to withdraw the RCMP from Wet’suwet’en territory. While talks with the hereditary chiefs have been a necessary initial step, the fact that these are happening without the RCMP’s withdrawal is unacceptable. Good-faith negotiations cannot happen at the barrel of a gun. In solidarity with the Wet’suwet’en, I am calling on you to:
1. Immediately withdraw the RCMP and associated security and policing services from Wet’suwet’en lands, in agreement with the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimiation’s (CERD) request. The RCMP has ordered its officers in the past to use lethal force to remove peaceful land defenders. This cannot happen again.
2.Respect the Wet’suwet’en laws and governance system. Stop the forceful removal and arrests of Wet’suwet’en people from their own territories and the destruction of their camps.
3.Legislate UNDRIP into Canadian law, adhere to the UN Committee for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (UN CERD) directives, and respect Wet’suwet’en’s right to free, prior, and informed consent, which CGL has never obtained. The decision from the BC Supreme Court to extend CGL’s injunction order is an infringement of Wet’suwet’en law and directly violates their constitutionally protected rights to exist on their own unceded lands, as articulated in the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP).
4.Require the province to cease construction of the Coastal Gaslink Pipeline project and suspend permits.
When can I expect an update on what actions you’ve taken to ensure Wet’suwet’en rights are respected?"
