Senator Soundwave and cassettes in childcare (or lack thereof) hell.
I'm trying something new... the comic strip will be posted tomorrow--- Stay tuned!
-----------------------------------------‐--‐------------------------------------------------------
Title: Soundwave: Signals of a Working Dad
( “Fine. I’ll Just Be Evil Then.”)
Cybertron’s towers shimmered in the golden light of Iacon’s energy grid, but Soundwave’s optic sensors twitched with mounting stress. His console pinged with diplomatic memos, classified updates, and worst of all—a rejection from yet another daycare center.
"RE: Application for Cassette Unit Supervision
We regret to inform you that your children are classified under 'military-grade espionage tools' and therefore ineligible for SparkSprouts Learning Core."
Soundwave’s vocalizer buzzed in frustration. He was a Senator, a pillar of Cybertronian law and order, yet no institution would take in his small herd of sentient cassette children—each of whom had enough destructive capability to warrant their own defense subcommittee.
Ravage had eaten through a file clerk’s desk last week. Laserbeak had imprinted on a data archivist and now refused to stop following him into the wash racks, chirping emotionally. Rumble and Frenzy had started a minor seismic event during nap time. The nap was canceled. The floor is still cracked... And the caregivers are still traumatized.
He couldn’t blame the facilities. But he also couldn’t keep dragging them to the Senate.
“Senator Soundwave,” crackled a panicked voice over the intercom, “your cassette units are in the ventilation system again. Rumble is—wait—Frenzy just launched himself out of an air duct. Is he—IS THAT A DETONATOR?”
He disconnected the call without comment, which was Soundwave for “I am internally screaming.” Then came the final straw. An emergency Senate meeting. High priority. High stakes. Attendance mandatory. No dependents allowed.”
Soundwave sat very still. Shoulders slumped. Optics dimmed. His spark ached in that slow, quiet way familiar to every working caregiver stuck in a system built by bots who clearly never had to wipe unidentifiable goo off the inside of a political briefing data pad.
Across his screen blinked another security memo: Civil unrest. Riots in Kaon. Broadcasts from Megatron again—raging about the elite and how the Senate catered only to the pristine few.
Soundwave wasn’t sure who the “elite” even were anymore. It definitely wasn’t him. Not forged in the Hall of Records. Not groomed by Primes. Not sipping high-grade energon from crystal flutes while somebody else took the spawnlings to enrichment programming.
He had clawed his way up from the shadow circuits, raised five cassette children while climbing the political ranks, and now? Now he couldn’t even get into an emergency session without a babysitter.
...Then came the final insult: An emergency Senate meeting. High alert. All Senators required. No dependents (OR CASSETTES) allowed.
He tried to reason. Briefly.
“Surely—there is a secure observation chamber—”
“Soundwave,” they interrupted, “we are on the brink of civil war. This is no place for... your cassette situation.”
“Senator Soundwave,” said the automated message, “Reminder: Today’s emergency Senate meeting is classified. No dependents allowed. Attendance is mandatory. Failure to appear will result in loss of voting privileges and probable disciplinary review.”
That was it. Not the clogged air vents. Not the Senate’s thousand-page parenting waiver forms. Not even Ravage getting banned from the cafeteria for hunting the microwave.
It was being told—once again—that his family was a “situation.”
He rage-quit the entire political infrastructure of Cybertron.
He stared at the screen. Slowly. Deliberately. He pressed a button. He activated his surveillance . system. It was the sound and sight of five cassette children screaming in unison while dismantling a vending machine.
He attached the file to his RSVP.
“Regretfully Declined. Kindly and collectively Eat My Entire Aft. Sincerely, Soundwave.”
Then, with the calm of a mech who’d just finally decided, “You know what? To the Pit with this,” he opened a comm line and dialed Megatron.
Megatron: “Soundwave. About time. You ready to rise up?”
Sondwave: “Negative. I’m ready to never fill out another daycare application form EVER again.”
M: “...You bringing the cassettes/children?”
S: “Affirmative. All of them. Rumble, Frenzy, Laserbeak, Buzzsaw, Ravage.”
M: “You know we’re starting a violent uprising, right?”
S: “They love those. It's Frenzy’s favorite. I am tuning out of the bureaucratic daycare hellscape that is the Senate.
S: You want me, you take them.”
M: “Can they follow orders?”
S: “Sometimes. It's hit or miss.”
S: “They come with snacks and skills.”
In the background: *Frenzy screaming into the vents for absolutely no reason while buzzsaw and laserbeak eat through the cabling in the wall they're destroying for a nest*
M: “That’s beautiful. Welcome aboard.”
S: “Do Decepticons have healthcare?”
M: “Not really. But we’ve got free refueling and a crying/napping room behind the munitions closet.”
S: “Acceptable. Are dependents allowed to attend meetings?”
M: “They can run HR, for all I care.”
S: “I’m in.”
That night, as the Senate descended into bureaucratic chaos over who was going to draft the Emergency Parking Zoning Act of 405-B, Soundwave reclined in a dark corner of the Decepticon base. Buzzsaw nibbled at Energon snacks. Rumble and Frenzy dropkicked a punching bag labeled “Sentinal Prime.” Ravage dozed atop a crate labeled "Explosives (Definitely Not Toys)."
Soundwave sipped from a cube of high-grade fuel. He’d had enough of trying to be the perfect Senator. Now? He was a Decepticon.
They had a bring-your-minions-to-work policy. And braver babysitters with ball-bearings here. War was hell. But so was parenthood. At least here, the snacks are free and the cassetes could finally be loud. He felt vindicated.
The Senate could keep its rules, panels, and its “no cassettes allowed” elitist energon nonsense. Soundwave was a Decepticon now, and honestly? It came with free dental and part-time daycare (health and safety not guaranteed but frag if he was worried about that on a single mom’s discount ener-mojito-gon night).
And that's why Mamawave became a Decepticon. Corperate and political Cybertron hates families and the working parent.
(much like another planet we know...😤)
I swear--- the older I get, the more I agree with IDW Megatron...
--- I say we start a movement! Like---
Moms And Megatron Against the System! (MAMAS) 🫡🫡🫡

One of my favourite spaceflight facts is that, due to some heavy technicalities on what the universally accepted definition of an astronaut is, and the intense secrecy surrounding the Soviet Union at the time, the entire Vostok program, AKA the thing that first took humans into space, technically doesn't count and everyone just agrees to ignore that.
Tumblr media
Submitting my claim that Vostok is actually the cutest spacecraft ever, which is an entirely normal statement.
When they sat down and defined what counts as a successful manned flight, part of the requirements included the astronaut(s) landing in the vehicle. But Vostok didn't do that. Instead, the Vostok cosmonauts ejected from the vehicle after re-entry and parachuted to the ground separately. This continued until the later Voskhod missions, where they ripped out the ejector seat so they could fit more guys inside (and on the second one, one guy and an inflatable airlock so one of them could do the first spacewalk), and put in a rollcage so that landing inside the vehicle wouldn't turn them to goo.
But by the time Voskhod 1 blasted off from Baikonur, all of the Mercury flights had already been flown, so this means that, according to the rules, America technically completed the first manned space flights.
Another technicality was added to the list a couple of years back, when the guys that make the rules futzed with said rules in order to deny Jeff Bezos and Richard Branson astronaut status, because fuck 'em. Now, in order to be an astronaut, you have to actually do something on the flight, otherwise you're just a passenger. And many of the Vostok flights were indeed more like passengers than crew. The Vostok spacecraft is pretty much a big satellite with a passenger compartment and a re-entry module, and it's fully automated.
So why didn't these technicalities get called out? The USA and USSR were never shy about trying to embarrass each other, or make each other look foolish on the world stage. One of the biggest reasons why we know the Moon Landing Conspiracy Theory is total stupidity is that the USSR congratulated NASA on the successful landing, because if it had been recorded on a soundstage in Area 51, the Soviets would've been the first to call bullshit.
Well, part of it is just that the Americans didn't know about the specifics of the Vostok program at the time. Whereas the American space program was a very public affair with cheering crowds showing up to watch every launch, the Soviets were much, much more clandestine than that. Baikonur is in the middle of the Kazakh desert, and the Soviets were keen to lie about anything that went wrong.
When their attempt at a moon rocket, the N1, endured four successive failures on launch, mostly caused by the Soviets lacking the funding and the facilities to properly test the thing, and instead just had to launch fully built rockets and hope they worked, the Soviets simply scrapped the last two and declared that they'd never intended to go to the Moon and were all about Earth orbit instead.
Tumblr media
The N1 was actually more powerful than the Saturn V, but because it never reached operational status and the Soviets preferred to pretend it didn't exist, the Saturn V remained the world's most powerful rocket until Artemis 1 flew last year. A similar situation is happening now, with SpaceX's Superheavy being more powerful than the SLS, but also being basically a giant bomb at the moment.
Most Americans had no idea how Vostok worked, and didn't even know what it looked like. They didn't get to see what a Soviet spacecraft actually looked like up close until the Apollo-Soyuz mission in 1975.
Tumblr media
Behold, the setting for the most expensive handshake in history.
By the time the full details came out, the world had known that the Soviets did it first for decades, and challenging that doesn't really do much for anyone besides the people that want to go "Um, ackchully" about everything.
Additionally, the rules weren't even written yet at the time, so there's even less reason to start changing shit up now. Vostok might be technically breaking the rules, but nobody cares, and downplaying the immense technical achievements of Sergei Korolev, Yuri Gagarin, and everyone else that worked on the early Soviet spaceflights on account of a rules quirk that wasn't even written yet is just kinda dumb.
(Random sidenote, Korolev was the chief designer of much of the USSR's early spacecraft, including the R7 rocket that carried both Sputnik and Vostok into space, and still carries some of the Soyuz flights to this day. And, like pretty much every major achievement of the USSR, he wasn't Russian. He was, in fact, Ukrainian.)

something something grow a pair and state thoughts on ai?
So, funny story, I made a post about this before, whenever the topic tag for it was trending. And like, I still stand by that, sans the part where I call the AI itself a form of art under my definition. A little bit after that, I saw a post, while definitely not in response to my own post, made the point that while we should hate AI art for the rampant theft of jobs and content, that its somehow bad to dislike it as Bad Art or Not Art because "gatekeeping art is baddd". Which like, in the context of someone drawing stick figures or painting giant blocks of color, is valid; we shouldn't gatekeep art from people. I still think AI doesn't deserve that privilege. Like, not to try and define art again, but, like hold on ket me grab something.
Tumblr media
This is an ai generated adoptable from deiantart. Now, I have to ask, what's being expressed here- besides "cute girl in big hoodie (despite the one on the left not having a hoodie)"? Like it's easy to take these apart mechanically, but conceptually? It's somehow easier. Like, part of character design is visually communicating stuff about the character. There's nothing here besides anime girl in big outfit with minor armor details maybe? Like nothing else here is coherent! Like she looks sampled off of genshin and honkai characters but that's it. Like the cutains are just blue, and its dull and boring because of it. Why is the jacket neon green? The prompter wanted it that way. Why does she have the shoulder pieces and the case she's holding? Because the prompter likely put "battle girl" and/or "solarpunk" into the prompt. And it's not bad to have design elements for the sake of it, but the ai can't do anything but that, and the content it generates suffers because of it. There's no artistic value there, imo.
Now, not to toot my own horn, but here's my take on this design:
Tumblr media
This is still a "cute girl in a big lime green jacket", but there's more to it. It's a high visibility jacket, with stripes reminiscent of construction vests. In the other doodles on the page, this high visibility theme is expanded to a theme of her being some kind of rescue personnel, and/or an angel (see; the halo in the bottom right). While it's fairly easy for me to point these themes out- it is what I intended- I'd still argue an obersever would be able to point out similar, or other themes and motifs that bring this character together.
No ammount of prompts and generation models can recreate that. Even if the prompter had the exact same intent I had when making the og ai content, that intent doesn't come across whatsoever. Because AI cannot replicate human intent and artistic processes.
These image generators register to me as the miserable end point of the sad, art-illiterate belief that art only is, and is only meant to "look pretty". Every time modern art is decried as "ugly and pointless", another prompter gets validated in their shameless attempts to assert their narrow-as-fuck vosion of what art is.
Art is human. Art is messy, art is intricate, art is sloppy, art is beautiful and art is ugly.
No machine on earth can comprehend or replicate that. And the ceasless attempts to commodify and capitalize on art have made some people forget that fact. The kinds of people who prompt really only see art as a gimmick product, pretty knickknacks that will make them rich quick.
For lack of better terms, the dehumanization of art itself is disgusting, and so like hell am I going to consider AI's mass-produced, slot machine-esque, drivel as art.
And I will not be guilted by other people on this hellsite who think its a moral failure to call mindless content what it is because its dressed up in distorted frills and anime girl boobs.
Art is human, and AI is not human. And what a sad world it is, that we're automating and strangling human creation, instead of letting it thrive.
Thank you for reminding me to share my thoughts.

Predicting the world 100 years from now is tricky, but based on current trends, here’s my best guess:
Technology & AI
AI will be deeply integrated into daily life, possibly achieving general intelligence.
Humans may have neural interfaces (brain-computer connections) for direct interaction with technology.
Quantum computing could revolutionize science, solving problems we can’t even comprehend today.
Automation will dominate industries, possibly making traditional jobs scarce but also creating new ones.
Medicine & Human Life
Lifespans may extend significantly due to advancements in genetics, nanotechnology, and disease eradication.
Personalized medicine will tailor treatments to individual DNA, making many illnesses rare or manageable.
Bionics and brain implants could enhance human capabilities, blurring the line between human and machine.
Lab-grown organs and artificial blood might make organ failure a thing of the past.
Climate & Environment
Climate change will reshape geography—some cities may be underwater, while new habitable zones open in the Arctic.
Renewable energy will likely be dominant, with fusion power possibly providing limitless clean energy.
Some species will go extinct, but others could be revived using genetic engineering (de-extinction).
Space-based solar power and asteroid mining might provide Earth with limitless resources.
Space Exploration
Humans may have colonies on the Moon, Mars, or even further, possibly terraforming parts of Mars.
Space tourism might be common, and asteroid mining could be a major industry.
We may have discovered signs of extraterrestrial life, even if just microbial.
Society & Culture
Nations may shift towards global governance or digital nation-states with AI-assisted leadership.
Cultural and language barriers could dissolve due to real-time AI translation.
Cities may be smart, self-sustaining, and highly automated, with minimal human labor required.
Virtual reality could become so advanced that people spend much of their lives in digital worlds.
Ethical & Existential Risks
AI, biotechnology, and climate change could present existential risks if not managed well.
Humans may merge with technology so much that the definition of "human" itself changes.
Wars might be fought with cyber weapons, drones, and AI rather than traditional military forces.
Privacy could be nearly nonexistent, with constant surveillance and data tracking.
Overall, the world of 2125 will be radically different, shaped by AI, biotechnology, climate adaptation, and space expansion. Whether it’s a utopia or dystopia depends on how wisely we handle the next few decades.

Saw a bunch of beautiful knitted patterns on Pinterest and got inspired to make a few new knit patterns. They are among my favorite patterns to make! Now some word vomit, I just feel like the need to ramble today...
I noticed that I really suffer from performance anxiety regarding making CC for Sims 3. It has been building up the whole year, and it is especially bad now that Simblreen is around the corner and the Christmas season is coming up too. On tumblr, people mostly post their accomplishments, not so much their failures, and it makes me think that everyone is so much more productive! I see people participating in Simblreen daily prompt challenges, or making/publishing CC for Simblreeen, and feel sad and inadequate in the face of so much success. I manage to make a couple of things that never really see the light of day, and I feel guilty about it and feel like I let people down😿 At the moment, I can really only make CC for the sake of making it (making patterns is a meditative process for me) and I cannot seem to complete the whole process of publication. I guess if you follow me you are not expecting anything you see appearing as a download soon anyway, but sometimes I really struggle with that. I am really sad about this, but I have always struggled with my perfectionism and intrusive negative thoughts that make the process harder. I sometimes think my patterns are not really needed. The lack of CC that is tailored to Sims 3 specifically (that recolors better than conversions) adds to the feeling that I am becoming obsolete, and my anxiety feeds this feeling. I guess I feel much less motivated to try if there are few things that you can use my CC with, and collabs seem to be much more popular for Sims 4, and I really want to make meshes to accompany my patterns, but I just get stuck in the middle and cannot continue, it sucks so much! The last time I attempted to make a super cozy sweater, I wanted to bake nice textures for it in Blender, but it just wouldn't work it out and I got so frustrated, and the automated bone assignments are subpar for highly customized meshes too. Then I wonder whether my meshes are any good in the first place (sculpting folds and such is really hard to get right!). Now most people seem to work with geoms instead of TSR workshop's WSO format, and I have a hard time understanding how everything works. I would love to assign bones in Blender and such, but I also want to use Blender 3.x and keep up to date instead of always using ancient versions for everything. Tutorials are often for older versions. My brain wants to do things a certain way and it's really frustrating sometimes! Learning from tutorials whilst having a different version of the software is making the process much more difficult. At one point, I had 4 different versions of Blender installed, but is so annoying to have different versions for so many things.
I am using a medically prescribed app now to hopefully help with my anxiety and it currently teaches me that anxious people tend to think negatively and catastrophize. This is definitely true for me, and it keeps me from actually trying out things because my brain tells me I could fail and why waste that time. Actually doing things while the brain throws you curveballs all the time is taking a lot of energy too. Maybe this is part of why I abandon my WIPs, because I cannot muster up the energy anymore to work on them. I often have great ideas and start on projects, and then lose the motivation or energy. I envy people who are able to finish their projects 😭
If you have any tips on how to keep going even with negative thoughts and obstacles in the way, I'm all ears.

Blockchain Technology, Quantum Computing’s Blockchain Impact
Tumblr media
What Is Blockchain?
Definition and Fundamental Ideas
Blockchain technology is a decentralized digital ledger that records transactions across several computers without allowing changes. First given as Bitcoin’s basis. Banking, healthcare, and supply chain management employ bitcoin-related technologies.
Immutability, transparency, and decentralization characterize blockchain. Decentralization on peer-to-peer networks eliminates manipulation and single points of failure. Blockchain transparency is achieved by displaying the whole transaction history on the open ledger. It enhances transaction accountability and traceability. Finally, immutability means a blockchain transaction cannot be amended or erased. This is feasible via cryptographic hash algorithms, which preserve data and blockchain integrity.
These ideas make blockchain a desirable choice for protecting online transactions and automating procedures in a variety of sectors, which will boost productivity and save expenses. One of the factors driving the technology’s broad interest and uptake is its capacity to foster security and trust in digital interactions.
Key Features of Blockchain Technology
Blockchain, a decentralized digital ledger, may change several sectors. Decentralization, which removes a single point of control, is one of its most essential features. Decentralization reduces corruption and failure by spreading data over a network of computers.
The immutability of blockchain technology is another essential component. It is very hard to change data after it has been stored on a blockchain. This is due to the fact that every block establishes a safe connection between them by including a distinct cryptographic hash of the one before it. This feature makes the blockchain a reliable platform for transactions by guaranteeing the integrity of the data stored there.
Blockchain technology is more secure than traditional record-keeping. Data is encrypted to prevent fraud and unwanted access. Data-sensitive businesses like healthcare and finance need blockchain’s security.
How Blockchain and Quantum Computing Intersect
Enhancing Security Features
Blockchain and quantum computing appear to increase digital transaction security. Blockchain technology uses distributed ledger technology to record transactions decentralizedly. Quantum computing may break several blockchain encryption methods due to its powerful processing. But this danger also encourages the creation of blockchains that are resistant to quantum assaults by including algorithms that are safe from such attacks.
By allowing two parties to generate a shared random secret key that is only known to them, quantum key distribution (QKD) is a technique that employs the concepts of quantum physics to secure communications. This key may be used to both encrypt and decode messages. The key cannot be intercepted by an eavesdropper without creating observable irregularities. This technique may be used into blockchain technology to improve security and make it almost impenetrable.
Quantum computing may speed up complex cryptographic procedures like zero-knowledge proofs on blockchains, boosting security and privacy. These advances might revolutionize sensitive data management in government, healthcare, and finance. To explore how quantum computing improves blockchain security, see Quantum Resistant Ledger, which discusses quantum-resistant cryptographic techniques.
Quantum Computing’s Impact on Blockchain Technology
By using the ideas of quantum physics to process data at rates that are not possible for traditional computers, quantum computing provides a substantial breakthrough in computational power. Blockchain technology, which is based on traditional cryptographic concepts, faces both possibilities and dangers from this new technology.
The main worry is that many of the cryptographic techniques used by modern blockchains to provide security might be cracked by quantum computers. The difficulty of factoring big numbers, for example, is the foundation of most of today’s cryptography, a work that quantum computers will do exponentially quicker than conventional ones. If the cryptographic underpinnings of blockchain networks are hacked, this might possibly expose them to fraud and theft concerns.
But the use of quantum computing also presents blockchain technology with revolutionary possibilities. Blockchains with quantum enhancements may be able to execute transactions at very fast rates and with improved security features, far outperforming current networks. To protect blockchain technology from the dangers of quantum computing, researchers and developers are actively investigating quantum-resistant algorithms.

End of day reflection with my RWS tarot deck.
Tumblr media
This day has been met with the second failure for the technician visit and the cards indicate that your handling things with much grace, maybe too much grace, as you've placed the third order for technician visit. The card of advice is the two of wands, indicating that you should definitely make a decision and plan that is outside of your comfort zone of just making calls to an automated operator menu and waiting. You're using a prepaid data subscription that'll last until tomorrow afternoon, and you can scour the internet for other ways to contact customer service and / or tech support.

hey!! it’s the fic anon who’s writing about your bobert au! just wanted to let you know that im still working on it, and i have a few paragraphs of it for you to read!! :>
it actually gets minorly angsty at one point with the whole “im a robot, one out of thousands, and i am not inherently unique or my own person” sort of philosophy or whatever it’s called that i decided to use. if it doesn’t fit the au or you don’t want it in pls tell me!! im an angst writer so i do it without even realizing sorry :<
“Bobert, despite how much he liked to think otherwise, wasn’t unique. He wasn’t special, by definition he was actually quite the opposite. He was mass-produced alongside thousands of others, each with the same purpose embedded into them. The same mission. Observe, protect, and heal.”
“He’d never seen another Bobert face-to-face, but Gumball had said that was because, ‘they’re all just rich people robot butlers with medical degrees’. He’d then turned to face Bobert, and with flattened ears he tacked on, ‘but not you, Bobert. You’re cool.’
That wasn’t true, despite how Bobert would sometimes let himself believe it.”
“He had the same purpose as any other Bobert, the same automated responses, the same knowledge. And like those thousands of others before him, and the thousands of others to come after, he would complete his mission; observe, protect, and heal.”
“Juke glared at him. He pointed at his head and let out a series of ‘bkk bsh bbbksh’s that Bobert couldn’t understand, even with his highly-advanced multilingual code. The language was too fast-paced, so similar to music that whenever Bobert tried to find out what Juke was saying, he only got beatboxing songs as a result. On the rare chance it translated into the language, it was gibberish.
It was strange, not knowing something, when he was supposed to know everything he’d need to work efficiently. And it was definitely frustrating as well, though not as frustrating as it surely was for Juke.”
also taking the “product that we specifically made to fail so that way we’d uh-“ thing into consideration and wow said intended failure made him SENTIENT!!! and he does in the end learn he’s different and all that!! and he’s special!!! happy ending for the boy!!!
WOWOWEOODOOWWWWW LLOOKBARS U
SHAKES YOU/POS plese I cant wait when ur fic comes out !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, with your problem of worrying, if it doesn't fit with my AU, umm,,, its like kinda familar with the OG show!! But in the Aau bobert is leaning how he acts in the comics cause i said so/silly between that and how Baymax from big hero six is programmed to be igggggggggggg idk
be creative tho, and stick with what you have so far, btwbtw am sure itll turn out great

The Ed Zitron read was interesting. It's certainly a more pessimistic view of AI. I'm more optimistic. Here's how I personally would respond to these concerns:
The first question posed above is perplexing. What expensive problems will it address? All of them! AI is believed to be a massive productivity tool that's general purpose (i.e. it can be used by just about any industry to see gains in productivity). For instance, goldman sachs has estimated that it could generate $7 Billion in productivity gains in the next 10 years (they also believe we'll start to see AI become truly economically useful around 2027). Or to put this less abstractly: It's helping to provide more of every service you need and enjoy and want. (E.g. AI is already making major advances against illness. A cure for cancer would by itself be worth trillions of dollars.) In the article, Ed quotes Jim Covello as arguing "replacing low-wage jobs with tremendously costly technology is basically the polar opposite of the prior technology transitions [he's] witnessed in the last thirty years." But this seems like a rather confused argument to me. Companies aren't investing billions of dollars to augment or replace *a* job. They're hoping to augment or replace *all* jobs, as well as open entirely new forms of productivity and research.
It's true that AI is not like other technologies. We are creating a new form of intelligence, different from human intelligence, with different strengths and weaknesses. That said, researchers absolutely *do* have roadmaps for the technology, and there are many avenues for continued improvement, which is precisely what we've seen since Ed's article was published a year ago. I would also add that I agree *current* llm's are unlikely to lead to AGI (depending on definitions), but AI is not just llms, and continued research will continue to uncover and create new AI algorithms.
Energy infrastructure is a challenge, not just for AI but for everything. The US desperately needs to update and improve (and electrify) its energy grid. However, tech giants have the resources to source their own power, outside of main grids, and to do so sustainably (though we need laws to ensure they do so). If AI uses a lot of energy, but the energy is sourced sustainably, I don't see any problem in that. Further, it could help spur lowered prices for sustainable energy (by raising local investment), as well as the use of AI in designing improved green energy sources.
Job losses: This part of the argument is kind of weird. OTOH, they are arguing that AI is hype and can't actually do the job, but OTOH, they are arguing that AI is doing the job and that it's replacing people. So,,, which is it? Are AIs incapable of doing jobs or taking all the jobs? For instance, Ed talks about how Wendy's and White Castle both have tried using AI for taking food orders. Ed argues that this was a massive failure since human intervention was required for 10-14% of the orders. This was very weird to read bc being able to successfully automate over 80% of this task is a huge leap forward in efficiency. Similarly, call centers have seen similar numbers. And this reveals the true dynamic of AI and jobs at this moment: They can't do everything and need human oversight - but they can reduce employment. E.g. A call center of 10 people can be reduced to 2 people. So humans are still in the loop and required, but fewer of them. (Ed also criticizes AI for not being able to make the food. But AI is not robotics, even if robotics may use AI. Further, this ignores the rapid growth in robotics. In other words, he complains that AI lived in the digital world, not the real one, and this is true for now, but robots are coming soon, and will start doing "real world" jobs.) I don't this means thinking little of workers. I think it shows recognition that AI can help with many of these tasks. I also think many will agree that AI is often not as good or smart as a person - but they can do the work at a fraction of the cost. So while employers may recognize that their human workers are very skilled, they equally recognize that that skill comes with a cost. It seems very likely that lots, if not most, people would prefer this tradeoff since most people buy mass manufactured goods (cheaper quality but also much cheaper cost) instead of hand-made goods (better quality but much more expensive). And besides, we should not expect AI to stay at its current level. Even if it's kinda stupid and clumsy in some areas today, that's unlikely to be the case in 3-5 years, if not sooner. (This a common pattern in technology. e.g. The first cell phones were laughable compared to later improvements.) But for those who think that AI isn't really that useful and won't really help productivity - then rejoice! That means AI won't be around long. Rejoice that capitalist companies are 'wasting their money and time' with it. So why don't we see this rejoicing? I suspect it's because people see that AI actually is useful, and improving quickly, and so won't go away.
Data is not as much of a limiting factor as some would believe. For one, everyday humans upload unbelievable amounts of data to the internet (for instance, right here on tumblr). Many companies have legal access to this data, as a tradeoff for using their service (e.g. again, here on tumblr). Additionally, companies now have ways to create "synthetic data" (e.g. software that mimics cities and roads which can be used to train self-driving cars). Lastly, robotics and smart glasses are on the horizon. They are part of the ai roadmap, and one reason for this is that they'll be able to harvest huge amounts of data - and not just abstract data, but real world, observational data.
None of this is to imply that I think AI is perfect and presents no social issues. Just the opposite. But here are the kinds of questions I want people to talk about:
a. What can it do today? What will it be able to do in a year? b. How are these being powered? What is being done to ensure its rolled out sustainably? c. How will society help those who lose their jobs in the first wave of ai layoffs? How will society help everyone once entire chunks of the workforce lose their jobs? What kind of economy will we, or should we, have once AI can complete the majority of tasks? d. What laws do we need to establish to adjust society to this new technology and prevent what most would consider mis-use? How can we steer this technology toward the most public good?
ed zitron, a tech beat reporter, wrote an article about a recent paper that came out from goldman-sachs calling AI, in nicer terms, a grift. it is a really interesting article; hearing criticism from people who are not ignorant of the tech and have no reason to mince words is refreshing. it also brings up points and asks the right questions:
if AI is going to be a trillion dollar investment, what trillion dollar problem is it solving?
what does it mean when people say that AI will "get better"? what does that look like and how would it even be achieved? the article makes a point to debunk talking points about how all tech is misunderstood at first by pointing out that the tech it gets compared to the most, the internet and smartphones, were both created over the course of decades with roadmaps and clear goals. AI does not have this.
the american power grid straight up cannot handle the load required to run AI because it has not been meaningfully developed in decades. how are they going to overcome this hurdle (they aren't)?
people who are losing their jobs to this tech aren't being "replaced". they're just getting a taste of how little their managers care about their craft and how little they think of their consumer base. ai is not capable of replacing humans and there's no indication they ever will because...
all of these models use the same training data so now they're all giving the same wrong answers in the same voice. without massive and i mean EXPONENTIALLY MASSIVE troves of data to work with, they are pretty much as a standstill for any innovation they're imagining in their heads

How Technology Is Transforming Medical Waste Disposal Practices?
It is not that healthcare is receiving its digital makeover alone during this age of automation and AI; medical waste disposal Boynton Beach and beyond are undergoing an unseen revolution of their own. Once limited to primitive incineration or very expensive outsourcing, medical waste management is now seeing the emergence of a whole range of smart technologies, real-time tracking, and sustainable innovations.
This change is one for public health, environment safety, and regulatory compliance, not just mere convenience or cost-efficiency. In areas like Boynton Beach, where medical facilities cater to an aging generation with expanding demand for healthcare, waste disposal modernization becomes something that must be done and not a matter for choice.
Let's see how technologies are giving a new definition to medical waste disposal and what is in store for clinics, hospitals, and waste handlers.
The Traditional Problem: Inefficiency and Risk
Historically, it has been a logistics nightmare for medical waste disposal. Facilities mostly dealt with manual sorting, overfilled storage bins, which after sporadic pickups, created greater havoc. Those hazardous and ill-advised processes crisscrossed various levels of risks:
Cross-contamination: Improper segregation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste could instigate infection risks.
Environmental harm: Incinerating waste without pollution control is catastrophic for air pollution and carbon emissions.
Regulatory penalties: Failure to record, label, and store waste appropriately may bring severe penalties.
The biggest issue: it was reactive rather than preventive. That was when technology entered and made all the difference.
Tumblr media
1. Smart Waste Tracking Systems
Traceability has become the mainstay of waste management. Modern technology offers the opportunity to scrutiny each disposal step by healthcare professionals-from generating waste to treating it.
Key Developments:
RFID and Barcode Tracking: Containers are tagged and scanned at every stage, providing real-time visibility and minimizing human error.
Cloud-Based Reporting: Facilities can generate detailed compliance reports at the click of a button, streamlining audits and inspections.
Mobile Monitoring: Using GPS-enabled apps, the drivers and waste handlers log pickup times, weights, and safety checks.
In fast-growing healthcare infrastructure cities such as in medical waste disposal Boynton Beach, traceability ensures compliance with laws as well as public confidence.
2. Automated Waste Segregation
Traditionally, sorting of medical waste has been one of the most error-prone stages. Today, this process has become the target for automation through:
AI-Powered Sorting Machines: Using machine learning and image recognition, these machines distinguish biohazard waste, sharps, pharmaceutical waste and general waste at better accuracy and speed.
Smart Bins with Sensors: They detect the type of waste deposited and alert staff when full or when the wrong items are deposited.
The above innovations greatly reduce exposure of humans to hazardous materials and provide better quality of downstream processing.
3. On-Site Treatment Technologies
Very increasingly, more healthcare facilities are now offering on-site treatment options employing clean technologies such as:
Autoclave Systems: The sterilization of infectious waste is very clean when done with high-pressure steam, limiting the need to incinerate.
Microwave Treatment: This green method uses microwave energy to remove pathogens while creating zero harmful emissions.
Ozone Disinfection Units: Advanced systems allow ozone to sterilize naturally without producing any kind of secondary waste.
Such treatment on-site benefits facilities in Boynton Beach and beyond in reducing transportation cost and emission while possessing better control of their waste volumes.
4. IoT-Enabled Waste Collection
The Internet of Things (IoT) is transforming the entire necessary collection process by imbuing containers, vehicles, and logistics with intelligence.
Some Key Benefits:
Smart Containers: Fitted with fill-level sensors, these bins notify disposal services when they are good to get picked, thus dispensing with unnecessary collections.
Route Optimization Software: Based on real-time data, haulers are able to select the most fuel-efficient and timely pickup routes.
Predictive Maintenance: Waste treatment machinery is fitted with sensors that detect faults before they lead to downtime.
For medical waste disposal Boynton Beach, these solutions guarantee that waste is disposed of not just safely but efficiently—an important aspect in nicely populated or resource-constrained areas.
5. Digital Compliance & Reporting Tools
Paperwork has always been one of the heaviest burdens on healthcare providers. This is fast becoming a thing of the past with the advent of digital compliance tools.
Automated Audit Logs: Actions performed on data―collection, treatment, disposal―are logged and timestamped.
Secure Document Storage: Records are encrypted and indexed so they can be searched anytime and from any device.
Real-Time Alerts: The relevant stakeholders receive instant alerts whenever something is amiss, such as a missed pickup or incorrectly filed item.
Time gets saved through digitization, but it equally minimizes the risk of non-compliance, organizations facing lawsuits, or receiving government penalties.
Tumblr media
6. Sustainable Waste Innovations
In the dimension of sustainability, technology has emerged as a major actor, with new technologies ushering healthcare organizations into a new era of reduction, reuse, and recycling.
Material Recovery Systems: Certain plastics and metals can now be safely recovered from medical waste streams for reuse.
Compostable PPE and Packaging: Emerging products allow hospitals to swap out single-use plastics for biodegradable alternatives.
Carbon Emission Tracking: Facilities can measure their environmental impact and adjust operations accordingly.
For ecosystems on the coast in vulnerable ecosystems like Boynton Beach, those innovations help healthcare systems contribute to the environment.
Final Thoughts
The application of modern technologies is transforming, not just refurbishing, the ways of medical waste disposal. Once-threatening methods have been replaced with automation, smart tracking, IoT, and green disposal systems. And health needs continue to grow; hence, in developing areas like medical waste disposal Boynton Beach, these could not have arrived on time.
For the management, waste handlers, and healthcare professionals, the message is clear: in the future, waste disposal will no longer be about just getting rid of what serves no use anymore; rather, it will involve proper management with intelligence, safety, and sustainability at its core.

The Future of Productivity: Generative AI in the IT Workspace
In recent years, the rapid rise of generative AI has sparked a technological revolution across industries. From art and writing to software development and customer support, generative AI is proving to be a transformative force. Nowhere is this impact more pronounced—or more promising—than in the Information Technology (IT) workspace.
Tumblr media
As organizations strive to be more agile, efficient, and innovative, the integration of generative AI tools into the IT environment is ushering in a new era of productivity. In this article, we'll explore how generative AI is changing the landscape of IT operations, software development, cybersecurity, and team collaboration—and what the future might hold.
What Is Generative AI?
Before diving into its applications, it's important to define what generative AI is. Generative AI refers to algorithms—often based on deep learning models—that can create new content from existing data. This includes text, images, audio, code, and more. Technologies such as OpenAI’s GPT models, Google’s Gemini, and Anthropic’s Claude are leading examples in this space.
Unlike traditional AI, which analyzes and classifies data, generative AI synthesizes information to produce something new and original. In an IT context, this can mean anything from writing scripts and generating code to automating complex workflows and predicting system failures.
Why Productivity in IT Needs a Boost
The IT workspace has always been complex and fast-paced, with ever-changing requirements and escalating demands:
Rising complexity of software and infrastructure.

3. Cybersecurity and Threat Intelligence
The cybersecurity landscape is evolving rapidly, with increasingly sophisticated attacks. Generative AI adds a new layer of defense—and offense.
a. Threat Detection
Machine learning models already analyze behavior for threats. With generative AI, alerts can be enriched with contextual narratives that make it easier for analysts to understand and prioritize them.
b. Automated Response
AI can generate firewall rules, quarantine commands, or SIEM queries in real time. Instead of manual configuration, analysts can validate AI-generated scripts for faster incident response.
c. Simulated Attacks
Generative AI can simulate phishing emails, malware scripts, or attack vectors to test the organization’s defenses—creating a proactive cybersecurity culture.
4. Data Management and Analysis
Data engineers and analysts often spend an inordinate amount of time preparing and interpreting data. Generative AI is dramatically changing this dynamic.
a. Data Querying with Natural Language
With tools like ChatGPT or SQLCodex, users can query databases using plain English:
“Show me the top 5 regions with declining sales in Q4 2024.”
The AI translates this into optimized SQL queries—making analytics accessible to non-technical stakeholders.
b. Data Cleaning and Transformation
AI can generate Python or ETL scripts to clean and format raw data, saving hours of manual effort. It can also suggest the best transformations based on data profiling.
c. Insight Generation
Generative AI can summarize trends, generate charts, and even create slide decks with key findings—moving analytics from data delivery to data storytelling.
5. Collaboration and Knowledge Management
Beyond individual productivity, generative AI is enhancing team communication and institutional knowledge.
a. Smart Assistants
Integrated with platforms like Slack, Microsoft Teams, or Notion, AI bots can:
Answer IT queries.
Generate meeting summaries.
Draft emails or memos.

b. Onboarding and Training
AI-powered platforms can deliver personalized training modules, simulate scenarios, or answer questions interactively. New hires can ramp up faster with contextually rich assistance.
c. Documentation and Wikis
Keeping IT documentation current is a perennial problem. Generative AI can crawl internal systems and auto-generate or update internal wikis, significantly reducing information silos.
Challenges and Ethical Considerations
Despite its enormous potential, the adoption of generative AI in IT is not without challenges:
1. Data Privacy and Security
Generative models often require access to sensitive data. Ensuring that this data is not leaked, misused, or retained without consent is critical.
2. Accuracy and Hallucination
Generative AI can sometimes “hallucinate” or produce incorrect information confidently. In IT, where accuracy is paramount, this could lead to costly mistakes.
3. Skills Gap
While AI reduces the need for rote skills, it increases the demand for AI literacy—knowing how to use, interpret, and audit AI output effectively.
4. Job Displacement vs. Augmentation
There’s a legitimate concern that generative AI could displace certain roles. However, current trends suggest a shift in job roles rather than outright elimination. AI is better seen as a copilot, not a replacement.
The Road Ahead: What the Future Holds
As generative AI continues to evolve, here are some key trends likely to shape its future in the IT workspace:
1. Hyper-Automation
Expect even higher levels of automation where entire workflows—incident response, deployment pipelines, data pipelines—are orchestrated by AI with minimal human oversight.
2. Personalized Work Environments

Next-gen ultrasound offers high-definition imaging that allows clinicians to visualize the heart in exceptional detail. With 3D and 4D capabilities, cardiologists can assess structural heart diseases—such as valve abnormalities and congenital defects—with greater clarity and confidence. These improvements lead to earlier detection and more effective treatment plans.
2. Advanced Functional Assessment
Strain imaging and tissue Doppler techniques provide insights into myocardial performance that traditional imaging often misses. This allows for:
Detection of subclinical heart failure
Precise measurement of ejection fraction
Real-time evaluation of diastolic function
These capabilities are especially crucial in monitoring patients with cardiomyopathies or those undergoing chemotherapy.
3. Artificial Intelligence Integration
Modern ultrasound machines use AI to assist clinicians in:
Automatically measuring heart chambers and valve functions
Identifying abnormalities with real-time suggestions
Reducing variability between operators
This not only speeds up the diagnostic process but also ensures consistency—making it an invaluable tool for both experienced cardiologists and medical trainees.
4. Portability and Point-of-Care Use
The advent of portable ultrasound devices has revolutionized emergency and critical care. These compact machines provide real-time cardiac imaging at the patient’s bedside, in ambulances, or even in remote rural settings. At Bilmed, we utilize these devices in our clinical simulation labs and outreach programs, demonstrating their effectiveness in real-world scenarios.
