⚡️WEATHER ADVISOR FOR FRIDAY 2/25⚡️My new single “Heavy Rain” (mixed and mastered by the great @johannsoloyoso from the equally 🔥 @yoso.collective ) drops on all platforms! Where I’m from it rains so hard it makes everything else disappear. You can’t hear or see anything. You can’t drive, can’t leave. The rain is the only thing around, and it’s everywhere, muting everything else till all you can hear is white noise. This is the 2nd song I ever wrote on guitar (over 4 years ago), when I was still in the beginning stages of my transition. I was terrified of being rejected and losing the privilege of feeling safe in most spaces. While transitioning has always meant stepping into a more authentic way of living, at that time in my head, it also felt like consciously embracing rejection everywhere. That shit made me really scared and sad and reluctant to be in my body at all, which drained all the energy and sharpness out of everything. Everything in my life slowly lost its shape, and I felt like I was being assaulted by something invisible but constant and exhaustively deafening. Music’s how I process what I’m feeling, so out poured Heavy Rain. I feel really differently about my life these days, but now I have this beautiful Imprint of a memory that instantly transports me back into that scary time, but with the soft hands of retrospect and a wisdom I simply didn’t have then.
