Understanding Hydrocarbon Remediation: Process and Benefits
Contamination of soil and water by hydrocarbons, which are compounds made up of carbon and hydrogen atoms found in petroleum products like diesel and gasoline, can pose a significant threat to human health and the environment. Hydrocarbon remediation is the crucial process used to clean up and remove these contaminants from the affected area. This article examines the process of hydrocarbon remediation, its benefits, and its usefulness for businesses.
Hydrocarbon remediation involves various techniques and methods to remove hydrocarbon contaminants from the soil and water. Some of the techniques used include excavation and treatment, excavation and storage/disposal, bioremediation, chemical oxidation, air sparging, and soil vapor extraction. Bioremediation involves the use of microorganisms to break down the hydrocarbons naturally occurring or stimulated, while chemical oxidation involves using chemicals to break down hydrocarbons into harmless substances.
Hydrocarbon remediation provides several benefits, including environmental protection, health benefits, cost savings, and regulatory compliance. For businesses dealing with petroleum products, such as oil refineries and gas stations, hydrocarbon remediation can be particularly useful in avoiding potential fines and lawsuits, reducing liability, and complying with environmental regulations. Additionally, demonstrating a commitment to environmental protection can enhance a business's reputation and attract environmentally conscious customers.
In conclusion, hydrocarbon remediation is a critical process that protects human health and the environment. Businesses can benefit from its various advantages, and bioremediation solutions provider, Delta Remediation, offers bioremediation services as part of hydrocarbon remediation, using specific microorganisms that can break down even the most complex hydrocarbon chains.

Assorted Horizon 3 thoughts that have been bouncing in my brain:
I hope they take all the time they need on this. We can wait. A 2027 release feels likely given the more or less standard 5-year development cycle for Sony AAA titles.
We’ll have to see how they handle it narratively but at least as a concept Nemesis is a perfect overarching threat for the series and I will die on this hill. It’s more or less an inverse of GAIA and it makes sense to have Aloy and co face down a final embodiment of the failures of the old world. The series is about hope and renewal, but it is also a cautionary tale that is pretty up front with messaging that capitalism and the banal evil of corporate greed will destroy our world and kill us all. It makes sense to me to have Aloy finish Lis’ work by destroying the final specter of that.
On a practical note I’m really curious to see how Aloy and Sylens are going to keep Nemesis from being an immediately world-ending threat. As it is right now there’s nothing stopping it from lobbing asteroids at earth from orbit. There are a few audio logs where Travis Tate mentions the apocalyptic malware that FAS developed, and I wonder if we’ll see that come back.
I’m expecting Nemesis and whatever enemies you face that it creates to look like slightly more eldritch Zenith tech, since that’s what it’s based on.
I hope they just do what Remedy did and cast David Harewood as Sylens, there’s a scene in Alan Wake II where he channels Lance perfectly.
God I hope they take a cue from the Witcher 3 with their map design and have several biomes. I know Ban-Ur, The Claim, and the Great Delta would be a tall order but fuck that would be cool.

Hold Fast - Sneak Peek!
Tumblr media
Rating: 18+ MDNI (no smut in sneak peak)
A/N: For my first Frankie Friday I'm posting a sneak peek to my first fan fic Hold Fast (a one-shot? part one? possibly more?). Thank you to @vyduan for being my beta and my write or die! Grateful to everyone who voted in my poll and @katareyoudrilling for encouraging me to post. Full piece coming Friday, Feb 16th!
Tags: no y/n, gymbff!Benny, reader is a powerlifting girlie described as short, Tom is alive unfortunately (we hate Tom), Tom owns a bar, Pope owns a gym, alcohol, brief body insecurity and Frankie being down on himself, swearing (I'm new to this so please lmk if I missed anything!)
Word Count: 591 of ~3.9k
Benny was surprised to see you walk into Pope's one night an hour before closing since you always trained in the mornings. You had given him a short head nod instead of your usual big smile before stalking to a platform and slamming your bag down.
"Yooooo, everything ok?" he asks as he walks over.
"Does it look like I'm okay," you huff, aggressively wrestling your knee sleeves on. Glancing at him, you immediately apologize when he hesitates and takes a step back.
"Sorry, Benny. I'll be a lot better after I pick up some heavy things and put them down."
"Might help if you want to talk about it?" he ventures leaning against the barbell.
You finish tying your squat shoes before looking at him again with dejected eyes and sighing.
"I just went on a crappy date with a guy from one of those dating apps," you sigh again. "He spent the whole time talking about himself and how much he works out. Then he had the fucking audacity to question me when he asked how much I could lift."
"Fucking asshole!" Benny feels himself getting steamed.
"He just stormed out of the restaurant and left me with the bill when I refused to change my answer," you shrug, but Benny sees your jaw tick. "Apparently, I squat and deadlift more than he does and he couldn't date someone who could do that." You roll your eyes and huff.
"WTF! What a total loser. You don't need a guy like that who doesn't appreciate you," Benny replies incensed. He sees your face fall for a moment, eyes downcast and tight.
"I just — I've been trying to put myself out there again and it sucks," you mumble, cheeks flush with embarrassment. "It's also been kinda lonely since I moved here, and I guess I could just use more friends, too."
"I'M YOUR FRIEND!"
"Yeah, my gym friend! We don't do anything outside of this hot, sweaty box Benny," you remind him with a small smile and playful shove to get him off your barbell.
Benny decides this is completely unacceptable and immediately remedies this by inviting you to the next hangout with him and his ex-Delta Force friends at Redfly's, a local bar nearby. "You know Pope and Will already," he reassures, "Tom's the owner of the bar and he's an asshole, but he's our asshole. And there's Catfish — we call him Fish for short. We've been trying to get him to come work out here, but he's been busy with his new pilot job for the hospital. And he shares custody of his 3-year-old daughter with his ex."
He could see your brain turning over all the information he was throwing at you. You don't seem to react either way to the news that Fish has an ex and a daughter. As you adjust the bar height you respond, "You sure? Don't want to crash a regular thing that you have with your guys."
"Nah, it'll be great! They'll love you!" Benny's determined to get you to come.
You hand him your phone. "Well... okay. Text me the details?"
With your phone in hand, Benny puts his number in to text himself and then convinces you to show him your dating profile. Between sets of squats you both take turns swiping on possible matches, Benny teasing you on your picks. Ever observant, Benny notices your preference for profiles with tall, brown-haired, brown-eyed photos. As you work through your next set, Benny sneaks his phone out and immediately texts Fish.

Effective Bioremediation Techniques: A Sustainable Solution for Environmental Cleanup
Bioremediation is a sustainable and cost-effective solution to environmental pollution, using living organisms such as bacteria and fungi to degrade pollutants into harmless compounds. There are various bioremediation techniques, including in situ (at the site of pollution) and ex situ (removing contaminants to treat elsewhere). Other methods include bioventing, biosparging, and use of bioreactors to promote the natural degradation of pollutants.
These techniques can handle a wide array of pollution types including petroleum, heavy metal, pesticide contamination, industrial waste, and landfill leachate. Benefits of bioremediation include its sustainability, cost-effectiveness, versatility, and non-invasiveness.
One company leading the way in bioremediation is Delta Remediation, based in Alberta, Canada. They specialize in applying these techniques to sites polluted with hydrocarbons, pesticides, and industrial waste, and have expanded their operations to Nigeria and Kenya.
Bioremediation thus offers a promising method for environmental cleanup, being both eco-friendly and adaptable to diverse environments. Companies like Delta Remediation are pioneering in this sector, making significant contributions to environmental health.

Contrasting Bioremediation Techniques: Spotting the Differences
Remediation is the process of removing contamination from water and soil, and bioremediation is a subset of this process that involves the use of living organisms to eliminate harmful pollutants in contaminated areas. Bioremediation techniques can be confusing, as some methods stimulate naturally occurring organisms to break down toxic chemicals and pathogens, while others introduce microorganisms into the environment to achieve remedial goals. There are two types of bioremediation techniques: biostimulation and bioaugmentation. These should not be confused with the two main methods of soil remediation (in-situ/ex-situ), which refer to how a remediation treatment is carried out and not the actual biology involved.
Biostimulation techniques encourage natural organisms to consume pollutants. Normally, these naturally occurring microorganisms could take decades to degrade contaminants, but by modifying the environment through the addition of nutrients, this time can be reduced. Nutrients and electron acceptors such as phosphorus, nitrogen, oxygen, or carbon are added to the environment to stimulate biodegradation. Examples of biostimulation techniques include biosparging and bioventing. Bioventing is the injection of high-pressure air (oxygen) into the soil or unsaturated vadose zone to enhance aerobic biodegradation. Biosparging is the injection of air into the saturated zone of the soil matrix or groundwater table to stimulate degradation.
Bioaugmentation involves the addition of exogenous microbial strains to supplement the degradation capacity of indigenous microbial populations. Site assessments are conducted to determine the chemical structure and concentration of contaminants, the size and nature of existing microbial populations, and the nature of the physical environment before the right bioaugmentation technique can be conducted. Effective bioaugmentation technology must be able to maintain genetic stability and viability during storage, survive in foreign and hostile environments, effectively compete with indigenous microorganisms, and move through the pores of the sediment to the contaminants. Nutrient application alone will not produce the desired remediation results, but augmenting contaminated soils with aggressive bacteria will often produce desired results in as little as 30 days.
While both techniques have applications in the remediation industry, bioaugmentation reduces the risk and uncertainty often associated with biostimulation. Delta Remediation is a worldwide leader in the area of bioremediation, offering proprietary remediation technology (BioLogix) and innovative solutions (ScreenLogix Rapid TPH Test) to meet site needs. Rebjukebox 2024 - No 1
Here's my first playlist for 2024, it's not gonna be a monthly thing, just once i have 40 tracks i like, then i will share it. So could be one or two or even three in one month and other months maybe none, this is why it's numbered. I am already close to No 2 being finished, cover done, just need to cut down to 40 tracks from the 80+ tracks in the provisional draft playlist. So could share this next week!! These playlists are great way to find new bands and artists and saves us having to post each on sepearatly.
I used to do these just through Soundcloud, but thought i might as well add it to my Spotify also. So i will add two links to the playlist and can use which ever one you prefer.
If your a solo singer or a member of a band, then follow me on my Soundcloud page here, if i like your stuff, i will follow you back, if i don't follow back then sorry but your not my thing. Whatever style of music is fine, i like many stlyes and will take a listen. You should always trust your own ears with music.
You can only follow 2,000 people on Soundcloud, so am limited. But if am following you there, i can see when you share new music, which means you could be added to one of these playlists or the main JIR playlist (one per month). What style of music is fine, i like many and will take a listen.
Enjoy and share, stay free, see you soon with No 2!!

The Gloster Javelin jet fighter was not as terrible as people say, here’s why…
Hush KitApril 13, 2013
March 27, 2024
We have often knocked the Britain’s Cold War Javelin interceptor as a sluggish mess. For the sake of balance, we asked former Tornado pilot and author Michael Napier to defend Gloster’s ‘Flying Flat-iron’.
Firstly, the Javelin was the first RAF aircraft to be designed from the outset as a night/ all-weather interceptor; all previous night/ all-weather types had been less than ideal modifications of existing day fighters. The Javelin was designed to take-off on a dark and stormy night, intercept enemy aircraft many miles out over the North Sea and then return to an airfield right on the weather limits. To achieve this, it had to be stable enough to fly almost entirely on instruments: it was never intended (or required) to be an air superiority fighter, so comparisons of daytime air combat performance against, say, the Hunter completely miss the point. As an all-weather interceptor the Javelin, which equipped 10 squadrons in Fighter Command in the late ‘50s and early ‘60s, was very effective in role. You wouldn’t want to be flying a Hunter over the North Sea on a dark and stormy night!
Javelin also boasted an iconic – and unique – design in the T-tailed delta. The delta wing was chosen because it combined the best control and stability characteristics at high subsonic speeds. The drawback was that delta wings need a high angle of attack at approach speeds, so the pilot would potentially come out of cloud at decision height and be unable to see the runway because the nose of the aircraft would be in the way. Hence the T-tail: by putting the elevators on top of the tailfin, the whole of the wing trailing edge was free for flaps which would, in turn, lower the nose angle. As a result, the Javelin came in an almost flat attitude during an approach – ideal for bad weather operations. The flying controls feel system introduced a nose down bias at high angles of attack so that the pilot did not stall and spin the aircraft, since, like most subsequent high performance aircraft, a spin was irrecoverable.
As a result of its stability, the Javelin was an excellent gun platform – interestingly two Javelin squadrons beat a Hunter squadron into third place in the Duncan Trophy gun/ciné-weave competition in Germany in 1961. So there, Hunter fans!
The Javelin was the first British front-line aircraft to be armed with guided Air-to-Air missiles (AAM) – the de Havilland Firestreak Infra-Red seeking missile in 1960. As such the Javelin was the pioneer of RAF AAM tactics. It could carry four Firestreaks – that’s four more than a Hunter and twice as many as a Lightning!
Tumblr media
One drawback, which I’ll admit to – the Sapphire engines (oops!). Unfortunately, the Sapphire suffered from a condition known as Centreline Closure if they encountered super-cooling conditions – basically inside a thick cloud in the tropics. The engine outer casing shrunk rapidly as it cooled and squeezed the compressor blades so that they could no longer move. A number of aircraft were lost when the engines seized explosively in cloud. The simple remedy was to coat the compressor blades with ‘Rockide’ an abrasive substance that enabled the blades simply to rub themselves free if the engine casing contracted onto them! A simple fix.
Sometimes people also criticise the reheat system on the Sapphires, but that is not to understand how and why it was designed. The reheat was intended as a low-cost “fix” to restore the high-level performance of the aircraft with missiles (a draggy fit) to that of the original guns-only FAW7. Rather than designing a completely new fuel system to incorporate a reheat feed (which would have been excessively expensive), the reheat in the Javelin was designed around the excess high pressure fuel that was delivered to the engine core, but not needed at altitudes above 20,000ft. Rather than returning this fuel back to the tanks (which happened on pretty much all other aircraft types) in the Javelin FAW8 and 9 (as the reheated variants were designated) it could be delivered instead to the reheat, where the extra power was enough to overcome the drag of the missiles and restore the performance to guns-only days. It was not needed (and didn’t work!) at lower levels below 20,000ft.
Tumblr media
The Javelin was the pioneer of Air-to-Air Refuelling (AAR) for RAF tactical aircraft. For, although the RAF had belatedly come to look at AAR seriously for the V-Force and carried out several high-profile long-range flights with Valiants, tactical aircraft were not included in AAR operations. This changed in 1960, when the Javelins of 23 Squadron began working with the Valiants of 214 Squadron. Eventually, two units, 23 and 64 Squadrons became AAR capable. Both operated the FAW9 and the AAR probe was attached specifically for AAR sorties. NOTE: some people erroneously think that an FAW9 with a probe was an FAW9R – not so! The FAW9R was fitted with wet pylons that could take under-wing fuel tanks… if you can see an under-wing fuel tank then it’s a FAW9R! Long-range deployments were trialled by 23 Squadron in 1960 when Exercise Dyke saw the deployment of four Javelins to Singapore and during Exercise Pounce the following year, 8 Javelins from 23 and 64 Squadrons deployed to Karachi. These two trials proved the possibility of deploying an entire squadron all the way to Singapore using AAR – something that happened when 64 Squadron moved there in 1964 in response to the Indonesian Confrontation.
Like us on Facebook here for exclusive material
Because of its flexibility and the ability to redeploy swiftly if needed, the Javelin became the RAF’s rapid reaction force. Javelins reinforced Germany during the Berlin Crisis in 1961 (in addition to the two squadrons already out there), Cyprus in 1963 and Zambia (during the Rhodesian UDI) in 1965… and, of course Singapore as already mentioned.
In short, the Javelin was the backbone of RAF Fighter command in the late 1950s and early 1960s and proved to be a flexible and effective interceptor. It was the pioneer of techniques and tactics for both AAMs and AAR in the RAF and the Lightning and Phantom benefitted hugely from the work carried out by the Javelin squadrons that preceded them. It was also the first aircraft to be called when crises erupted around the world and once again proved most capable wherever it was sent. So – the Javelin played a major, and very successful, part in the development of jet fighter aircraft in the RAF and ought to be remembered in that light.

Week in Review | Oct. 8 aka the Week of the Great Gray Sweatpant Revelation
Hi, hope you all are doing well! Another week in the books. When I woke up this morning it was in the high 60’s (F) here in Florida which is basically “grab your sweatshirt” weather for me. I’ve currently got some chili in the slow cooker and I’m channeling all of my fall vibes even though it will be in the 80’s by the afternoon.
Three years ago today we rescued our corgi (for those reading Delta Landscaping, yes I had to throw a corgi into the story because of that). She had a bit of a rough go before us and she still has her moments, but she’s taught me a lot about patience and grace and we have a really special bond. It’s also been so cute to see her bond with my daughter. She was really unsure at first but now they’re super cute together.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also had quite the Pedro boy week. I started it off with meeting Mando and ended it with Silva and Strange Way of Life (more on that to come).
Fics I read this week:
I have soooo many fics I want to read, and my TBR list is getting out of control. But like, what a great problem to have. I'm continually awed by the passion, creativity, and talent in this fandom.
Frankie Morales
The Pilot and His Girl by @avastrasposts - I can’t believe we’re almost done with this story! I have the lastest chapter on the list to read asap. I’ve loved the ride so far and am so happy to see some of my mutuals on here starting to read it too!
Delta Palms Tropical Resort by @linzels-blog - Loved some Frankie in this latest chapter. Such a competent pilot … sigh ….
Joel Miller
Butter @fuckyeahdindjarin - Sweet, fluffy Joel + a baker. This was a really cute read.
Javier Peña
Every Inch by @javierpena-inatacvest It’s in the It's Never Too Late universe. Javi is as sweet as ever with Osita and is such a supportive partner. (Warning, there’s a reference to green shirt Javi and I about passed out). 😉
Playball by @morallyinept - Gifs are my love language and how I express myself best, so a little drabble inspired by gifs (and Javi gifs at that) had me sold!
Paranoid Heat by @goodwithcheese - I already know I’m going to be obsessed with this. It was a great opening chapter and I’m so hooked. Megan, please don't tell me there are any landscapers in this fic. I don't need another spin off 😂
Marcus Pike
Headshots - Chapter 2 by @secretelephanttattoo - I loved getting a continuation of the story between Marcus and an FBI photographer. Marcus is equal parts menace and sweet, fluffy, great boyfriend.
Dieter Bravo
Destiny & Deliverance by @mysterious-moonstruck-musings Continues to deliver. This is just such a good fic and I love all of the behind-the-scenes and extras we get for more insight.
Unwind by @ramblers-lets-get-ramblin - This was so cute … you already know I love a fluffy Dieter.
Kinktober and Other Prompts
This is my first time experiencing Kinktober, so I’ve been glued to @absurdthirst feed for new stories.
My girl @trulybetty also has some great little stories as part of her Autumnal Offerings series. I’ve really enjoyed getting some glimpses at other stories in her universe that I have on my TBR list!
@secretelephanttattoo has some really fun fics dropping like Sofa, so good (Frankie), Stargazing (Frankie), and Kiss Me Quick (Dieter).
Benny Miller / Garret Hedlund
It’s been a while since I had a Benny fic, but @musings-of-a-rose remedied that in spades with The One. It follows Benny and OFC Lily, who just so happens to be Frankie’s 21-year-old daughter. These age gap/dbf stories can be tricky sometimes, but I really thought this one was handled so well. And Benny was sensitive, sweet, funny, and hot.
Posts from this week:
I hit a big (for me) milestone on here this week and invited some asks and I was not disappointed. I had so much fun with these so if you ever have something, please send me one! To anyone who sent me one this week, I’m thinking up some asks to send your way in return! 😉 I’m not sure if this link will work, but here’s all of the asks I received!
Feral corner:
Gray Sweatpants Update - I am still recovering from the revelation that Young Joel is wearing gray sweatpants in the first episode of TLOU. *deep breaths* Like honestly, the rest of the week aws a blur after that.
Tumblr media
You know, I love having friends in all corners of the globe, but sometimes I miss things when I’m asleep. Case in point, this post about … hands. Woof, it was quite the way to start my Sunday.
Things I watched:
I finally saw SWOL and loved every minute of it (although it was over too soon!). I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get back out to the theater for a viewing, but I’m going to get a free trial of Mubi when it comes to streaming so I can see it again. I’m also on the hunt for the Q&A that some saw following their showing so I can get some more insight.
Garrett Hedlund headlined two things I watched this week. I finished Mosaic, which was good. I love mysteries and thrillers. Interesting tidbit about that show: when it first came out, it was released on an app where (as I understand it) you could watch things in any order…like a Mosaic 😉 When it was put on HBO Max it transitioned to a linear format. It was good, but part of me wishes I could have chosen the path for the narrative because I love a choose-your-own-adventure story!
I also watched Desperation Road. It's set in rural Mississippi and is a series of interconnected stories. Some of the subject matter is hard and a bit triggering, but Garrett delivers an absolutely beautiful performance. Seriously, between him and Pedro…they have such expressive eyes.
Things I'm excited for:
Later this week Mr. Rhoorl and I are celebrating our wedding anniversary.  We are doing a behind-the-scenes tour at Universal for three of the Halloween Horror Nights houses and TLOU is one of the houses we are going through! I am so excited and will take as many photos as I can. I’ve been really leaning into the Halloween vibes this year so I will be writing something special later on this month to celebrate the spooky season.
Fic updates:
I got chapters out this week for both fics. I may be a little delayed getting the next installments out, but we'll see!
Thanks as always for reading my ramblings, I hope you have an awesome week!
