Saturday Mornings on the Global Television Network promo, featuring Smurfs (1981), Alvin and the Chipmunks (1983), and Dennis the Menace (1986). Circa late 80s.
🐾 These drawings I worked on today are based on an episode of the “Dennis the Menace” Saturday morning cartoon series from the late 80s called “Dennis of the Jungle”. In the episode, Dennis and Margaret are on a jungle boat ride and express their skepticism over whether or not the animals are real or animatronic. After a monkey snatches Margaret’s favorite doll, she and Dennis jump overboard. After close calls with a hippopotamus, sinking in quicksand, and mistaking a giant snake for a vine, the two kids encounter a lioness, whose two cubs have been trapped by two greedy poachers. The two thugs have captured some animals with intentions to start a wild animal restaurant. Thankfully, Dennis, Margaret, and their new animal friends foil their plans for good. I remember this particular episode on a VHS tape from Kids Klassics Home Video. It featured other “Dennis the Menace” episodes. Altogether, there must have been seven different stories, but this is the one I fondly remember the most from when I was a kid. 🦛🐍🦁🦏
Good morning, friends! Guess what today is? No, it’s not National Go Back To Bed Day … sorry to say. No, today is the next-to-last day of April! Yesterday when I mentioned to daughter Chris that there were only two more days left in April, do you know what she said? “That means Christmas is right around the corner!” Lucky for her, I had a kitty sleeping in my lap! Christmas … my foot! Bah…
