So like I understand the whole Derek freaks out when he realizes that he’s in love with stiles thing. Cause, sure, valid after everything he been through.

But like I also feel that he would be so relieved. That it’s stiles. Stiles is someone who is safe to fall in love with. Not in the sense of “oh he loves me back so I won’t get my heart broken” (he does) but like in the sense of it won’t be used against him.

Stiles has saved his life over and over again, has kept his secrets and defend him. And Derek cannot help but feel relief of the fact that it’s stiles who has his heart . Because it’s entirely safe with him. Stiles would not abuse him like any of his past relationships. It’s not something the Derek has to worry about. And that just makes it easier to fall deeper in love with him.

Obsessed with the idea that Derek loves hearing Stiles talk, that he could listen to him talk for hours, that he uses the sound of his voice to ground himself and be at peace, that it's his favorite sound in the world. That when someone tells Stiles to shut up he'll growl right in their face and tell them to apologize or get lost (even the pack, they don't get a pass when it comes to Stiles).

I especially can't stop thinking about how, at some point, they'll be alone spending time together, and Stiles will be talking and Derek will be listening, until Stiles shuts himself up because he's so used to people getting annoyed when he talks, and he doesn't want to annoy Derek, but Derek just opens his eyes from where he'd been resting his head on Stiles' lap and asks him why he stopped, he obviously was very excited about the new Iron Man movie, come on, keep going.

And anyways yeah I think they're perfect for each other.

Derek, incredibly annoyed: Yes.

Stiles: You can tell they don't have flavors yet, they're still eating cornflakes.

Couple minutes later

The movie: Use your spoon, eat your cereal.

Stiles: It's too damn big. Why is his spoon so big?

Derek, getting irritated: Shut up.

Couple more minutes later

Stiles, genuinely curious: Were women allowed to work back then?

Derek: Mhm

Stiles: When did they get rights?

Issac, who was dragged into watching the movie with them: The 60's

Stiles, looking towards him confused: You say the 60's?

Isaac, second guessing himself: Should've been the 60's..... Someone got rights in the 60's.

Couple of minutes later

Stiles, getting invested: What's really crazy is he's carrying that mug around. He's gonna have to carry that all day. That's really stupid. Now he has to carry that mug and her present. Idiot.

Another couple of minutes later

Stiles, upset: Don't forgot about those slippers you ungrateful little prick.

Seconds later

Stiles, laughing: She said, 'Carl's a loser'

Friendly reminder that Stiles Stilinksi is canonically the person who mellowed out Derek Hale. Lots of talk about how Derek went from hard-edged angry bad boy to loving, soft dilf, but let’s give credit where it’s due. It was physically impossible for Derek to not be angry since it was his anchor at the start of the show. That is canon. If he ever stopped being angry, he would lose control of his wolf. But then, oh but then, he met Stiles Stilinksi, and he became his anchor. That is also canon. There for, the reason Derek softened, is canonically Stiles Stilisnki.
