Week 12 - Compulsory Question 1
My group's manifesto has 3 important components.
Principle, Aesthetic and Reflection.
We agreed on these components as group mates because we believe that these are crucial in our design career. Our design principles are communication, visual engagement and to inspire. Through communication, we are able to connect with others through our viewers. We are also able to convey our message which is important. Aside from those, communicating works wonder in meeting with clients to prevent from misinterpretation. With interactive and colourful designs, we are able to inspire and engage with our audience while also creating social support and build stronger bonds.

This series of posters is a good example for our group's manifesto as it fits the standards of our design values. The posters were communicated effectively with the vibrant text. These images gave off a sense of cold due to the colour grading which also depicts how persons with disabilities are being treated.
This social campaign's purpose is to educate others about people with disabilities. To let the viewers know the obstacles face by persons with disabilities as they go about their daily commute. Hoping that this series will inspire the public to be more considerate.
Any people with half a heart would understand the meaning behind the posters as it speaks a thousand words.
In my personal manifesto, I have included mental health and good amount of sleep. It is important to prioritise these two values because they will help us mentally and physically.
Designing for clients can be draining and it may affect our design passion. To prevent from feeling this way, I make passion projects to keep the love going. My group's manifesto is not that different than mine because our beliefs are somewhat similar.
In my point of view, one of the aspects of CTS B that were significant for me would be: Week 2 - This is How You Connect Theory with Practice.
To be an illustrator is to have a strong artistic identity. Anyone can illustrate, but it is how we interpret and make meaning in our visuals. From this lecture, I learnt the importance of identity and I will be connecting this aspect in my design career.
However, Design-wise, the aspect that would be significant to the studio module is manifesto. By creating a structured manifesto, it will help us to be consistent and committed to a certain goal.

My Studio works from last term is a good example of my design values. My initial poster looked different than my current poster. The current poster have lesser elements than the original artwork because I believe that lesser is more. By being open to feedbacks and having self-reflection, we will able to improve ourselves!

The Value of Design
Artists and designers, such as ourselves in G. Limgenco Arkitekto, share a common dilemma: understanding the worth of our work. There’s no straightforward method in arriving at this, as there are several aspects that influence and determine the value of design. Design, style, and art are such subjective disciplines, that while one person would appreciate your work, another can inversely despise it. When art and design is your source of livelihood, it is important to know how to put a price tag on your work. In general, there are two positions that decide if your work is a masterpiece, or a master piece of shit.
The first is the artist himself. This may seem arbitrary, as any egotistic creator can proclaim his/her work as valuable. But the truth is, the artist/designer is in the best position in knowing how good or bad his/her own work is. And as long as he/she is being honest to him/herself, the artist should be self aware of the level of his/her skills: apprentice-novice-intemediate-advanced-master. Another factor is the amount of time and care a designer puts into the work. Even a master will sometimes create quick works. At a master’s level, even quick works could be considered good work, but it would still be very distinguishable from the intricacies of passion projects. Bottomline, the creator him/herself has authority in judging his/her own output.
Ultimately, however, it is also the recipient or viewer of the work that gives value to any creative output. One cannot force another to appreciate a work of art in the same way he/she does. Beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder. The final analysis to give thumbs or a middle finger boils down to experience. What is the experience of the viewer upon seeing, using, or walking through the work of art? What experiences in the viewer’s past resurfaced and were provoked by it? It is then that all objectivity becomes trivial. Feelings, emotion, they take control. The same piece will evoke various reactions from different individuals.
Information is key. Sometimes, the more we know about the piece or the artist, our perception of its value may change, usually for the better. Knowing the process, the history of the artist, legitimizes its worth.
Does it matter then, if your audience likes your work or not? The truth is, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t. In giving value from the recipients’ point of view, it does. It does, once the numbers come in play. The law of averages come into play. It follows the ratings approval system found similarly in restaurant reviews or movie reviews. At this point, statistics, comments, and feedback are what determine value.
For the artist, it then becomes important to understand who your audience is. Are you designing for one individual or the general public?

Killing our copyright integrity?
With the increase of online sharing and stock files creates an opportunity to be their own graphic designer (and for cheap most of the time). However as a designer and as a graphic designer I believe there is little value in having such a vast compilation of designs and pre-made business solutions. They not only take away work from us as designers but also create a marketplace where everyone has the same or similar imagery styles and layout elements. While this is not a new problem for creative professionals such as photographers. It is further encouraging the use of unpaid stock photos and free templates for graphic design. However there is a counter argument that all should be provided with equal opportunity and resources, but that fails to define the qualities and strengths of a business or marketing plan. A design should not only reflect the money that was spend on it, but also the use of time, careful planning, and differentiating it from the competition on values.
Ultimately if the design was so closely replicated in cases such as stock logo designs, there would be uproar from the designer or design company for copyright infringement. By providing so many branding identity designs for such a little or no cost it devalues the design exponentially.

💎 💎 CONTEXT, INNOVATION, IMPACT💎 💎 These are the 3 pillars that support product design for @juleskim of @bijules. Given the time and the worlds position, CONTEXT builds a solid base to comment from. Where design comes to life...
The story behind Celebrate the World Design Day:
World Design Day is celebrated on April 27th each year to recognize the impact of design on our daily lives and to promote the value of design as an essential tool for social, economic, and cultural development. This day also marks the anniversary of the founding of the International Council of Design (ico-D) in 1963, a global organization that represents the design profession and aims to advance the practice and education of design worldwide.
Design plays a crucial role in shaping the world around us, from the products we use to the buildings we inhabit and the services we access. Designers work to solve problems, improve functionality, and enhance the user experience in a wide range of fields, including architecture, graphic design, industrial design, fashion design, and more.
World Design Day provides an opportunity to celebrate the contributions of designers to our society and to raise awareness of the importance of design thinking in addressing global challenges. Through events, workshops, and exhibitions, this day encourages dialogue and collaboration between designers, industry professionals, and the wider public.
In summary, World Design Day is a day to recognize and celebrate the power of design to transform our world and to promote its value as a vital tool for innovation, sustainability, and social progress.

Week 13
According to a designvalue article, a traction channel is a marketing channel that brings in new clients. Traction means your strategy is showing results. SaaS organizations and Startups sometimes don't know which marketing channel to use.
Gabriel Weinberg has discovered 19 traction channels, which we'll explore separately, including crucial data, questions, and ideas for speedy testing. Each of these growth channels has succeeded before, but not for every company. There will be one channel that drives business. You must discover the right channel for your firm.
In this week, we're tasked with writing channels, and the channel we choose will be the foundation for growing our brand, product, and development in the future. In my opinion, traction channel is like constructing blocks one by one. The company will learn how to gain customers, raise revenues, boost public relations, give speeches on improving technology development, and promote online or offline marketing.
Despite the problem of competitive marketing or developing your channel, it's crucial to market through this channel. Marketing typically gives fresh opportunities to a startup project, but it can also be fun and crowded. You can explore alternative product concepts, blueprints, and outlines.

Traction featuring "The Bullseye Framework"

According to an online article I have read from designvalue it stated that "A traction channel is a marketing channel that helps you to get new customers. Traction means that your strategy is working and is showing valuable results. Failing to know which marketing channel works for your company is one of the prime mistakes SaaS companies and Start-ups make.
Gabriel Weinberg has identified 19 traction channels, all of which we will discuss individually – including the necessary metrics, key questions and viable ideas for rapid testing. Each of these growth channels has already worked before, but not all of them are a good fit for different companies. However, there will be at least one channel that brings traction to your business. For this reason, it is necessary that you find the channel that will work for your company."
In this week we are task to write the channels and thus the channel we choose we'll be our foundation in creating or building the brand, the product and development we'll be making in the near future. In my own perspective traction channel is like creating or building blocks one by one, the organization will garner techniques to acquire customers, increase revenues, boost public relations, be involve in different speaking engagements on strengthening technology development and lastly is the technique in promoting advertisements whether online or offline ads.
Despite greater challenge in competitive marketing or creating your channel, its also very important to note the important of marketing in this channels. Marketing often brings different possibilities in a start-up project, however marketing may be describe as the crowded point in building a project but entertaining at the same time. You'll get to explore different ideas, plans, outline and such to introduce your product.
