Favorite Rath species and/or subspecies GO
Ooh, that's tough, there are so many!
My top three are Destruction Wyvern Rathalos, Dreadking Rathalos, and Gold Rathian.
I think overall, Destruction is a little much, and Dreadking isn't quite as interesting, so my overall favorite is Gold Rathian!

MHS:SC The Poisoned Rain (Downpour Hyadoku)
Hyadoku: Hyades (Greek, name for a sisterhood of nymphs associated with bringing rain from Greek mythology) + Doku (Japanese, word for poison/venom)
And now, introducing the Big Bad of MHS:SC and a new (fanmade) Elder Dragon, or well a Deviant variant of one.
An Elder Dragon that hails from a small archipelago of islands with a unique ecosystem that thrives off of the poisonous water it expels from it’s body, This specific specimen is one that was born with an extremely rare mutation that sends its poison production into overdrive to the point that it’s own venom threatens both its very home, its own mentality, and is the main reason behind the poisoned rains.
Other Hyadoku viewed this specimen as a threat and chased it out of its homeland which caused it to cross the ocean in search of a new territory to claim for itself, bringing about destruction wherever it flies as its venom causes plants to wither.
The territory that it chose to invade was that of the mountains, home to that of the Cloudwalker subspecies of Rathalos, forcing those Flying Wyverns to flee from their native range either deeper into the mountains itself or elsewhere. This Elder Dragon is later revealed to have been after a water source that the mountain holds that’s said to be the heart of pretty much all of the main rivers within this region. Should this Elder Dragon get there and pollute that source could spell a major disaster for this particular region and all who live in it.
The poison produced from its body has a rather strong neurotoxic effect on Monsters. Those that do not succumb to its initial exposure eventually are driven into a state of irritability and gain a slight purplish-pink hue to their bodies. Monsters that are affected by this Monster’s venom are referred to as Rain Tainted Monsters.
Humans and other sentient species are also not immune to the effects of this specific monster’s venom. Those affected by it will grow ill and will develop the same purplish-pink hues on their skin akin to that of Rain Tainted Monsters. The venom can also mess with the mind of those afflicted, most notably on those who hold some sort of already existing grudge or regret, causing them to act out on things they might not normally do (As seen with the Wyverian Chief’s attempts to prevent the Protagonist from leaving the village all because of his own personal grudge against Hunters for the lost of Monstie years ago and the Lone Rider’s antagonistic behaviors.)
Not everyone affected by the rain acts the same as seen with both Reverto whom comes down with the venom after saving the Protagonist, Scout, Ratha, and Navirou from an oncoming downpour/attack who simply becomes ill (this sets in motion the events that lead up to the Scriveners helping to develop a cure) or the Feline Village that was hit by a downpour that caused all of the cats to suddenly start acting like they had consumed too much Felvine.
Monsties can also be affected but with the help of a Kinship Stone, the affects of the poison can either be nullified or lessened if the Monster had already been poisoned beforehand (As seen with Cloudwalker Ratha who’s egg had been contaminated by the poison prior to hatching and one of the main reasons behind this little guy’s sort of erratic behavoir and developmental delays)
It’s unknown if this is the same Hyudoku from the legends but this specimen appears to be rather old as evidenced by the various scars all over its body and it’s large wings.

Hey so a while ago I mentioned I had a new fursona called Samael; well here he is!
Tumblr media
This sounds crazy but he actually came to me in a dream (feel free to skip the dream summary lmao) (no really, it was one of those really vivid lucid ones, and there was a secret dragon society in a pseudo medieval world, and dragons could shapeshift into humans (through some kind of convoluted ritual) and there were dragon hunters (just reskinned witch hunts to be honest), and though they were called dragons, most of them were wyverns (basically rathalos and rathian), but I was a super special cool one that I remember thinking of as like destruction wyvern rathalos (mainly colour scheme) and malzeno (4 legs and the vampire beak thing), i was in the dream and was a chosen one type thing called a Vampyre (look i might just be edgy and cringe), (and no one had noticed up until then? Even though my parents were raths and I was a 4 legged elder dragon thing?). It wasn’t fully medieval because later on in the dream I got my hands on a boltgun (based on faint memories of the yellow one in dr who (42?, look up dr who boltgun and you’ll see what I mean)) . When I woke up it wrote out a full summary of what I dreamed and it’s really long, I might have to try and make a coherent setting/lore out of it, and I drew out my first design for Samael. (Might post that sometime too)
I really want to make fursuit parts but I’m trying to save money at the moment, I keep telling myself I can do stuff like that after my exams lol.

Fatalis (Obscuravormis dominus) – Black Wyvern of Demise
Tumblr media
Fatalis is the Elder Dragon introduced in Monster Hunter.
It was most dangerous of all known animals in Monster Hunter series. Due to destruction of Castle Schrade caused by the Black Dragon and some of people migrate and settled in what now Dundorma, Kokoto, and Astera. Fatalis' habitat origin was truly controversial.
Fatalis was undefeated and that's a reason to kill its opponents using fire, explosive, and the dragon energy. The Fatalis is the most intelligent, but dumber than any Elder Dragons. Their skin was nearly unbreakable, and fire resistant. Their eyes aren't real, there are made of unknown materials that Fatalis is full sighted and similar to binoculars or spyglasses that increase or decrease the vision or view of this species.
Unlike the dragons, the Fatalis cannot break the tail, and it was a featured. Fatalis can kill poachers, loggers, and even enemies to supervillains thanks for their powerful abilities.
Lore
Fortunately, Fatalis was a natural disaster and an animal, and doesn't affected by Thanos' snap. Thanos was possibly defeated by Fatalis. Possibly the Avengers noticed that the war between Rathalos and Rathian against Fatalis was on what now Germany on their cave paintings.
Fatalis wasn't affected by obedience of Isu's Piece of Eden, except for dragon energy infused weapons from Hephaestus or Peter the Apostle.

Hello! May I humbly request for a Bartos, Part II? 😊
Tumblr media
Please and thank you!
YEESS! LOOK AT THE BOY💖
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A Pampered Brute Wyvern (Part 2)
Your beloved glavenus monstie gets the surprise of a lifetime. And he’s not sure if he likes it.
Tumblr media
You knew today was going to be a handful. Not only did you leave Bartos, your best boy, in the hands of Kayna, but you also were bringing home a new friend that you just got done hatching in Rutoh.
A little rathalos that has been named Ratha. Original.
Now while you have other monsties, Bartos was the only one that ever stuck by your side. He was pampered, used to being the favorite. Heck, the glavenus even has his own fluffy bed complete with blanket and a little paolumu plush that you affectionately called “Lulu”.
He wasn’t the glavenus that people feared even though he could fight quite hard, but it wasn’t over things you would think. If Bartos didn’t get his way, he would throw a fit. Which isn’t good when you are capable of setting things on fire and having a tail sharp enough to cut the spikes clean off a rathian’s wing.
You can’t recall how many times you’ve had to rebuild your house.
The glavenus was spoiled to say the least and all of your attention was usually centered around him. Whenever it wasn’t, someone better be paying attention to him or else something will be torn to shreds.
So, you don’t know how he will react when you bring the new baby home.
“Kayna, how were things?” You asked her once you returned to the village that night. From the looks of things, nothing was torn to shreds or on fire. You took this as a good sign when you asked your friend how things were with the squirming rathalos baby in your arms.
“Better than expected, but he’ll want to see you.” She said, completely ignoring the monster in your arms. At this point, Kayna was used to things like this. But she was worried on how Bartos would react. You nodded at her words before making your way towards your home.
As expected, when you opened the door, Bartos was waiting there with his blanket in his mouth, looking at you expectantly. Apparently, Kayna didn’t tuck him in right.
“There’s my Bartos.” You cooed affectionately, but that also caused little Ratha to squawk. Upon hearing that, the glavenus dropped the blanket and eyed the baby monster in your arms. You knelt down a bit to allow him to get a better look.
“Hey bud...this is your new brother, Ratha!” You introduced the two as Bartos sniffed him. Then, the glavenus growled. He didn’t like the idea of this little thing taking you away. Ratha growled a bit as well, causing you to pull him away so neither one bit or fired at each other.
“Okay, okay, I know things look rough right now, but you guys will learn to love each other.” You said with a big grin on your face before patting your monstie, who resumed picking up his blanket and stubbornly stomping off to his bed where his plushie lay waiting, missing how Ratha eyed it.
You thought they would grow on each other, but you didn’t know it would take so long.
Leaving them alone was the last thing you should’ve done because when you came home, there were things on fire and things cut in half. But in the middle of the destruction was Bartos holding one end of his Lulu plushie while Ratha was holding onto another end, flapping his little wings furiously as he tried to win this tug of war.
“Hey! No fighting!” You shouted, causing both of the boys to give up the fight before they broke the toy. However, this now caused another problem as they rushed towards you, both seeking affection.
“Gah!” You shouted as a large glavenus hopped on you followed by Ratha. However, now you were the new thing they were fighting over. And let’s just say both have sharp teeth and breath fire. It’s not easy when one is pulling at your leg and another is pulling at the collar of your shirt.
“Enough!”
Fights between the wyverns were common well into adulthood. Both Bartos and Ratha were extremely close to you, which led to fights for your attention. Bartos figured he’s earned it more since he was here first, but Ratha considered himself the special baby. Not only did they fight over your affection, but things like the bed as well.
But the worst was that paolumu plushie. You swear it was going to burn your house down one day.
You’ve never felt more like a flustered mother when it came to fights between your rathalos and your glavenus. You were hoping that they would come to care for one another, but Bartos was too spoiled for his own good and Ratha was too needy. They were always going to be rivals, especially now that you see him guarding that plush every chance he gets, eyeing Ratha with a smug look.
But hey, that’s your Bartos for you.

@bluesthebest from ask
Whelp. Blue looked far more excited than she was expecting. Now, Blue was right next to her excited for the latest update.
Tumblr media
"Yeah, sorry about waiting until now to tell you. This feature was extremely confidential until recently because of how it works." She did feel a little bad the whole time, but it was far worth it in the end. "Anyway! So, it's a new Pokédex feature that Professor Cherry of Hoenn and I made. You know how I've been traveling to different worlds and dimensions through Ultra Space? It turns out that there's an entire multiverse out there, filled with creatures that may or may not even be Pokémon!" Leaf sounded giddy.
"Here. Let me show you one." Leaf pressed a few buttons on her Pokédex, and, not only the style change, but the variations of the creatures did as well. Not only were there Pokémon that Blue was likely familiar with, but also entities and creatures that would seem completely foreign to him. Leaf touched one in particular.
Tumblr media
Species: Rathalos, the Fire Wyvern Estimated Type: Fire / Dragon This male-only wyvern is known for its ferociousness and territorial claims. Some say that there are special Rathalos who can bring the destruction and ruin to the world with the beat of its wings.
Tumblr media
"This picture of Rathalos is a special one that a friend of mine has. His name is Red, and he's such a cutie!" Leaf chuckled. "Oh! Anyway, this feature is called the Interstellar Dex! It's a Pokédex that not only logs the Pokémon of our world, but it also records Pokémon and creatures from other worlds. There are so many things out there that don't even really qualify as Pokémon that Cherry and I just HAD to find ways to learn about them. Heck, even in certain worlds, the Pokémon that we ARE familiar with can be EXTREMELY different from world to world. So, we made this to try to learn more about them! The best part? The Interstellar Dex doesn't even require you to catch them, either. Just interact with them, battle them, talk to them... the more you're around them, the more the Pokédex learns about them, like big Red here! Of course, catching will make the process faster and more instant, but not everything that you find otu there can be caught... that or you may not want to in order to respect the ecosystem there. So, this was a happy medium for us. Hehe! Isn't that awesome?!"

Monster Ecologies: Tigrex and Brute Tigrex
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Entry 24 - Tigrex and Brute Tigrex
Name: Tigrex and Brute Tigrex
Aliases: Rex, Crash, Tigarekkusu, Roaring Wyvern for Tigrex and Crunch, Tigarekkusu Ashu, Black Roaring Wyvern for Tigrex
Classification: Reptile, Pseudo Wyvern
Biology: Tigrex are bulky and primitive reptilian Pseudo Wyverns, having a body shape believed to be similar to the original ancestor of all Flying Wyverns. Two crests (that are slightly larger in male specimens) jut out from above it’s eyes, small fins are located on its back and shoulders, and it’s tail ends in a spiky protrusion. The monster is easily identified by its powerful limb muscles and bright yellow-blue striped coloration. Rather than the large wings most Flying Wyverns are known for, the front limbs of a Tigrex are instead a set of winged forelegs. This allows it to run much more efficiently than many others of its kind, at speeds of up to 50 km/h, and means that it spends the majority of its time on the ground. While it is indeed capable of flight, it prefers gliding or walking from location to location and will only take to the air in emergency situations. The most unusual abilities of a Tigrex are it’s blood vessels and it’s roar. When enraged, blood full of adrenaline rushes to the creatures extremities and head. This stops it from cramping or blacking out during fits of anger alongside giving it near-unrivalled stamina. But this useful adaptation does have disadvantages. It’s body becomes injured more easily in this state and if the monster doesn’t rest soon after it calms down, it risks suffering major injuries, hyperventilating and even passing out. The roar of a Tigrex is one of the most infamous among all monsters, strong enough to potentially kill smaller creatures standing close to it. It accomplishes this spectacular feat thanks to a triple-branched respiratory system, essentially having three sets of lungs. They breathe in a cyclic manner, allowing a constant flow of oxygen into its bloodstream and further boosting its impressive stamina. Alongside their impressive lungs are a massive syrinx and unusually wide trachea, which all combine to amplify its roar into the destructive force that comes out of the maw of this beast. Brute Tigrex are very similar to their normal counterparts, but do have things to set them apart. Their scales have darker colours of grey, brown, and beige. It’s forelimbs are more muscular and powerful, and it also an even stronger robust set of lungs that give it increased roaring capacity. These are adaptations it has evolved due to it predominantly living in harsher environments than the common Tigrex.
Behaviour: Tigrex are incredibly aggressive monsters with a short fused attitude and intense will to fight. They will attempt to attack anything that so much as irritates them, even going after species much larger than them such as Gammoth in the Old World. It is not uncommon to see these monsters covered in scars and bite marks from previous battles. Areas that Tigrex are currently inhabiting are periodically filled with the sound of its booming roars, serving as a stay-away warning to rivals or an invitation to mates. Parents will raise their young in different ways depending on how many are born. A single cub will be solely raised by the mother while the father leaves to continue his life. When two cubs are born, each parent will take one and raise them separately. In the rare case of three cubs, the parents will raise them together but send them off into the wild at an earlier age. This is because the cubs will hunt together as a trio, but not as a duo. Even as juveniles, they have the intense aggression and determination adults are known for, so they can hold their own against larger monsters when fighting together. They will eventually split apart fortunately, as even a single Tigrex is a force to be reckoned with, let alone three of them. Brute Tigrex behave in much the same way, with no observed differences.
Habitat: Similarly to Bazelguese and Deviljho, Tigrex are nomadic creatures. They journey from area to area and settle down in areas rich with prey to feed on, but are known to frequent deserts and snowy mountainous regions most often. Because of this, they can be found all throughout the New World. Their hunting methods actually differ depending on what area they are currently inhabiting. In deserts, their colouration helps them to blend in with the rocks and sand so they stay still until prey comes near to ambush them. In any other area, they stand out vividly. So they instead sprint towards prey that haven’t noticed it yet, often attempting to separate the old or weak to ensure an easier catch. While Brute Tigrex can be found in similar areas as common Tigrex in the Old Wolrd, they mostly inhabit volcanic areas. Correspondingly, they can be found in the Elders Recess and also the Guiding Lands in the New World.
Diet: Tigrex are carnivores that voraciously feed on whatever is available. Their diet mainly consists of large herbivores such as Aptonoth, Apceros and Popo. Smaller predators are also on the menu, but it prefers to hunt herbivores due to their higher body fat content. Tigrex that live in the Rotten Vale have become scavengers that feed on the wide variety of carrion available, but won’t pass up a meal of singular Lesser Girros or juvenile Radobaan. While they are capable of killing adult Radobaan and Great Girros, the paralysing packs of the former and the hard bony exterior of the latter make it so that the two typically stay off the menu unless the beast is extremely desperate. Brute Tigrex in the Elders Recess subsist on Gastodon and Barnos, with those living in the Guiding Lands feed on a wider variety of prey alongside carrion from the Rotten Hollow.
Attack Method: Other than their ear-splitting roar, Tigrex rely exclusively on brute strength during fights. Their powerful jaws and muscular limbs allow them to overpower smaller opponents, not really having a fighting style but instead just savagely biting and thrashing about. Their tail ends in a spiked tip and is sometimes used like a whip, such as when the monster spins 360 degrees to hit anything around it. Against larger opponents, Tigrex aren’t the type to look for weak spots and just bite and scratch the body part nearest to them. Brute Tigrex fight in much the same way, but with even more ferocity. Due to the constant eruptions of their volcanic homes, the roar of this species has become even louder and stronger. It has even gained the ability to create a short-range blast of sound, similar to that of Akantor.
Place in the Food Chain: Being nomadic, Tigrex are among the top predators in any environment they inhabit. They can survive in almost any habitat and don’t hesitate entering the territory of other monsters. Brute Tigrex are much the same, but aren’t as wide-spread as the regular members are. Only apex monsters like Rathalos, Rathian, Nargacuga, Zinogre, Diablos, Glavenus, Brachydios and Barioth are capable of winning brawls with the Pseudo Wyverns and kicking them out of the area. Odogaron and Legiana are too frail to outright beat the beasts but the formers tenacity and latters agility can keep them at bay until they decide to wander out of the area.
This has been a report on the Tigrex and Brute Tigrex. Thank you for reading.
(The explanation of the triple-branched lungs comes from @the-wyvern-biologist , someone who is a massive help to me when I am writing these Ecologies. Please go check them out, they’re great!)

I finally got to play frontier and just beat the stories 1 remaster, surprised nobody still has been talking about makili i always liked the pietrus (also making them a base ASAP cause i love em also they have concept art for better refs let’s goooo)
So since i’m hyperfixated on the games again i’m making myself bases for every single monster. Finished ibushi now working on rathalos cause i want a destruction wyvern ratha oc and seeing he has so many versions of himself… i kinda had to- I have a flying wyvern guideline at least so may work on a majority of them. Will this be free? Probably not i kinda need money for personal stuff going on but maybe someday in the future if i’m comfortable with it. I’m 100% making adopts with these however :)

Creature Design Evaluation: Monster Hunter
“Monster Hunter” has a wide variety of game styles, from hyper realistic to more cartoonish/anime like art styles. Originating from Japan, the style is an indicator if this and spin off games such as “Monster Hunter Stories” were often portrayed in an anime esc style through the games art and creature designs, staying very realistic however, many of the creatures are anatomically correct and believable as monsters. However, for research purposes I will be focusing on the main base of the games that show the realistic art of creatures in more recent games such as “Monster Hunter World”.
Tumblr media
Rathian are one of the first large enemies you usually encounter in the games, large and fierce, these dragon/wyvern like creatures are one of the closest depictions of a dragon that I have seen in a game. Visually this creature is really cool to look at, with large wings, hind legs and rock like scales and spines, they can shoot fire projectiles at enemies like many European projections of dragons like creatures. Known as “Queens of the Land”, these creatures are powerful and feared in the Monster Hunter franchise, their male counterparts known as Rathalos are red and similar in appearance to their female variants. These are known as “Kings of the Skies” and have larger bodies, wings and sharper horns. They are one of my favourite monsters in the game due to their wyvern and dragon like aspects, I mostly like how realistic the scales and wings look, it is very well done especially with the skin that is stretched over the wings, the creature is very anatomically impressive and the realistic nature of it is astounding.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tigrex are flying wyverns that appear in the game, able to control water, fire and ice abilities, these medium sized monsters are very fast and agile in battle. Their orange, brown and blue colouration is likely where their name came from as the creature resembles tigers, the large jaws and long tail of the Tigrex remind me of modern tigers and the claws seem useful for climbing up rock walls and gripping onto prey. Tigrex have thunderous roars that can deafen enemies and overall look as if they would be a formidable foe. I really like this design, I feel like it would work better as a larger monster but find the colours, head and scales all really stunning to look at due to the realistic complexity of the design.
Tumblr media
Legiana are a type of ice monster found in “Monster Hunter”, with large butterfly like wings, sharp bird like feet and long thrills along its long neck, this monster is very large and can agilely fly around its environment as it hunts for prey. Light blue, brown and white in colourationm these creatures have a wyvern like appearance with two thin back legs and two large wings that help it move, its skin is like a mixture a butterfly and reptiles skin with smooth scales running all along its body. Legiana can freeze enemies just by flapping its wings and have a fierce expression on their faces, remining me of dilophosaurus type dinosaurs. I find this design very cool, however would not of expected these creatures to be carnivorous by looking at their patterned, butterfly like bodies and wings.
Tumblr media
Zinogre are another one of my favourite creatures, like many monsters in the franchise they have a mixture of fur and scales on their skin, however this monsters fur is often coursing with electrical charge which power its lighting type abilities against enemies. Although this creature is not entirely dragon like, its hardy scales, large claws, thick horns and facial features make it a really interesting looking creature to look at. Like a mixture between a dog and a dragon, these creatures are very agile and powerful, able to shock other monsters and human enemies into a paralyzed state. The coloration reminds me of the element of lightning as I associate both bright blues and yellows with this, its horns seem like they would be useful as lightning rods and its large paddle like tail could be the way it grounds itself and can release electrical power. I love this design, the mixture of scales and fur is interesting, the horns and head looks fearsome but cool, and the colour choice was well picked for this creature.
Tumblr media
The final creature design I am evaluating is possibly the scariest looking monster from the games, Nergigante is a powerful type of elder dragon monster that follows other elder dragons in the area, despite not having an elemental alignment it is one of the most powerful creatures in the game and its appearance shows this. Documented as highly destructive creatures, this monster will go out of its way to track down its enemies and will win against almost all other creatures in the world. Covered in dark black scales and spikes, the Nergigante has massive horns that its uses to slam into anything in its way, its orange, black and purple colouration are a really good choice as it reminds me of Halloween, a holiday based around fear and monsters. Its large wings and tail also have long spines running along them, its tail reminds me of the stinger of a scorpion and its face is incredibly intimidating to look at, being chased by this monster would easily freak me out. This creature can even regrow any spikes that it has lost and launch them at enemies as a projectile attack, it is immune to being trapped or captured. This design is honestly very cool, its dragon like aspects are coupled with a great colour choice and design that make the creature very scary to look at, very demon or devil like compared to the other designs in the game.
Tumblr media
Overall the designs in the franchise and “Monster Hunter World” are amazingly well done, many are anatomically correct, all have great colour choices and many of the designs seem very thought out. The realistic aspects of them are unmatched by any other game and the quality of the animation, illustrations and digital design of these creatures are amazing, however the realistic aspects would be very hard to replicate if I wanted to try drawing in this style. The colours and designs are very advanced but natural, making me feel like these creatures could be real if it wasn't for the elemental abilities that reduce the realism of the monsters. I would love to try designing my own monster that could go into a future game, however I feel that I would be able to replicate the style of the more animated, simple “Monster Hunter” games with much more ease.

Holy shit I just realized that while Fate has Saberfaces; Monster Hunter has “Rathfaces”.
No seriously look at this list:
Rathian
Dreadqueen Rathian
Hardcore Rathian
Conflagration Rathian
Scorching Heat Rathian
Pink Rathian
Hardcore Pink Rathian
Gold Rathian
Hardcore Gold Rathian
Rathalos
Dreadking Rathalos
Flame Rathalos
Destruction Wyvern Rathalos
Hardcore Rathalos
Zenith Rathalos
Azure Rathalos
Hardcore Azure Rathalos
Silver Rathalos

What the fuck Capcom they’re not even cool enough to warrant this. They’re the most boring/vanilla/annoying reoccurring monsters in the series, and yet there’s almost as many of them as there are Saberfaces in FGO what the FUCK

Could I ask for a Destruction Wyvern Rathalos Rider with prompt #111 with Kyle. Like the rider's family was being constantly cruel to her and her monsties. Kyle, his father and his brothers noticed this and decided to do something about it. (Kyle is secretly pining for reader and is extremely concerned)
Sure thing!💖 I’ll try not to be too angsty, but I hope you like it!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Blood is Thick but Not Thick Enough
Your family is rather cruel towards you, and Kyle’s had enough.
#111 “I knew you’d feel guilty, but you do understand I would bear over a thousand wounds if it meant keeping you safe, don’t you?”
Tumblr media
You ran away again.
It was hard to take all the verbal abuse from your family after all this time, so you ran off again. However, it wasn’t always like this. Ever since you hatched a rathalos with catastrophic destructive powers, your family has been treating you like an outcast to the family.
The worst part being that your monsties were included.
Your family had turned cruel in their words and actions, treating Ratha especially poor amongst your monsties, but mostly it was to get at you. The things they said were vile, things that no one should say to their family, and the things they did were wrong as well. They never physically touched you, even they weren’t being that bad, but they would treat your monsties poorly, such as excluding them from dinner time and so forth.
You were afraid of what might happen, so you fled (even though you were worried for your monsties). This has happened before, and you’ve always returned to receive punishment for your actions. However, you’d at least get some peace when you went to see Kyle.
“I can’t believe you let them treat you like this!” Your hunter friend was furious, and it was totally not because he has a secret crush on you (he actually does). He just can’t believe that family could treat family like that.
Well, his brothers teased him, but they were never cruel.
“I don’t have much of a choice...they’re family...” You mumbled out, petting Ratha’s head as you guys chilled near the stables in Lulucion. Kyle sighed because he knew family was really important to you. Heck, they could cut off your arm and you would still defend them.
“Even so...family doesn’t treat family like that. Like you’re some sort of villain.” He spat, and you nodded in agreement. After changing the subject, you guys hung out for a bit before you decided to head home. Those words pierced at Kyle’s heart, but you promised you would be okay.
His longing heart ached as you flew off.
Now, Kyle has kept your family drama to himself. His father and brothers suspected something was wrong, but they didn’t know the half of it. Kyle never told them, in respect to your privacy, but he was not going to wait for the day when you came to him in bruises.
He was doing something about this now.
“The family treats Y/N like trash. No, they treat them worse than trash.” Kyle told his family. A real family.
“I think you want Y/N all to yourself.” Levi cooed, and his dad smack him on the back of the head.
“This is serious, Levi. We have to get Y/N away from those people.” Aeon said, and for once, the other brothers nodded in agreement. However, the tone in his voice caught the attention of their father.
“Are you suggesting taking Y/N away by force from their own family?” He asked. It sounded absurd, but in reality, what other options did they really have? I mean, besides totally...relocating...the family, which would break your heart.
“Why not? It’s not like they’re some loving family. Y/N needs my-I mean, our help.” Kyle said, quickly stumbling over his words which caused his brother Levi to snicker a bit (which earned him another smack).
“I suppose not...but are you sure you want to raise arms against a family of riders?” His father asked in concern, and everyone but Kyle mulled over the situation.
Yes. Yes, he was sure. So, that’s exactly what everyone did.
If your family was displeased with you having a dangerous rathalos as your monstie, then you can imagine their anger when they found out you had a hunter as a friend. And they were even angrier when said hunter brought his own family to come and take you away.
Needless to say, actions speak louder than words.
“You hunters better get out of here! Leave my child alone!” Your father hissed from a top of his azure rathalos.
“Y/N isn’t your child! You stopped being a father long ago!” Kyle’s dad yelled back at him as they fought.
As this went on, Kyle’s brothers fought against your own siblings and their monsties. Kyle was busy trying to find you, who must be so confused by all this chaos. Of course, he couldn’t get to you unscathed as one of your family member’s nargacuga gave him a thrashing, leaving a couple cuts on his right arm.
“Y/N! I found you!” He said in relief when he found you cowering in the stables with your monsties.
“Kyle? What the heck is happening?!” You asked him in shock, but he just hoisted you on top of Ratha before hopping up behind you.
“I have no time to explain. Just get us to Lulucion.” He said while gripping his bloody arm, causing you to worry. However, you decided to respect his words and took to the skies, barely missing the fact that the two families were fighting together.
As soon as you guys arrived at the stables, Kyle grabbed a nearby cloth to hold to his arm, hissing in pain as he did so. After all, it was like getting scratched by a cat. As you stood there, confused, Kyle loosely told you what happened.
“So...did my family do that?” You asked him, your voice full of despair as you gestured to his wounded arm.
“I knew you’d feel guilty, but you do understand I would bear over a thousand wounds if it meant keeping you safe, don’t you?” He practically scolded you as he held a cloth to his bloody wound. Kyle didn’t care about his own health right now.
All that mattered was that you were away from those vile people that weren’t worthy of the title of “family”.
“But Kyle...” You said, still feeling guilty about the harm your family committed towards him and not to mention his own family.
“No. I won’t hear any apology from you. If anything, I should apologize for not getting you away from them sooner.” Kyle said while removing the cloth to look at his cut. With a shrug, he threw the cloth aside. His wound wasn’t that bad.
“I...thank you...” You eventually said, your rathalos moving to nudge your side. Knowing that your other monsties would soon show up, Kyle allowed you to stay with him for the time being in Lulucion.
“What if they try to get me back?” You asked him, fear in your voice. It wouldn’t be because they cared about you, it would be because they wanted their punching bag back.
That’s all you ever were to them anyway. Ever since you hatched Ratha.
“I won’t let them. I won’t anyone ever take you away again.” Kyle said strongly, and you felt yourself blush at his words. However, one thing kept biting at the back of your mind as you got yourself settled into his home (with the permission of his father of course).
“Kyle...why did you feel the need to help me? I mean, I’m grateful, but why?” You asked him, slowly setting down a blanket. Kyle felt himself freeze at your words.
“Because I like you...a lot...too much...” Is what he thought, what he wanted to say. However, different words came out of his cowardly boyish figure as he kept his back to you.
“Because no one deserves to be treated like that.”
And that answer was good enough for now.
