About Me

Hi. I’m T.

Cancer, early-80s baby. From the western mountains of the U.S., born and raised, though I have moved a state over (still in mountains). East coast for college. Love to travel and have traveled quite a few places, including all over my own country. I prefer to do it in my baby, Fiona, a 16yo car with 360k+ miles on her.

Have always loved to read and write and draw, but stopped most post-college. Got back seriously into reading thanks to 2020 and Rebecca Yarros’s Empyrean series has gotten me back into writing and I am forever grateful.

I love hockey - and play it - and am an Ironman triathlete. I love to cook and to bake. I like shiny rocks and dragons and dinosaurs and stuffed animals and not acting my age … and thankfully married a guy who enjoys acting similarly.

My music tastes are polyjamorous - I will legit listen to pretty much anything and everything, but I do tend mostly to the rock side of things.

thinking about writing a witch Jyn AU for Halloween but I can’t decide which idea I like better so I’m taking votes

1. Practical Magic inspired. Jyn tries to get revenge on Krennic, accidentally kills him instead. Cassian is the private detective hired by his family to look into his death (because I didn't want to make him a cop). He can tell right away that Jyn's hiding something, but he doesn't expect to fall for her. Meanwhile, Jyn has sworn off love because her bloodline has long been believed to be cursed, and their partners tend to die young. Naturally, she ends up falling for Cassian anyway, but she's not sure what he'll do if he finds out she really killed Krennic. On top of it all, Krennic's ghost might be haunting her... 

 2. Much more gothic, horror vibes. Jyn and Bodhi are roommates but their lease is up next month, so when Bodhi's distant uncle dies and he inherits his house in a quiet little town, it's the perfect opportunity to move. Jyn's a witch who's been actively trying to repress and ignore her powers because magic's essentially what killed her parents, but when she meets Cassian who runs a small antique shop in town, she can't ignore the way he's always followed around by the ghost of a young woman who looks a lot like him. On top of it all, the townspeople are a little too nice in a way that's kind of creepy, and Jyn can't help feeling like they're all harboring a dark secret. The more time passes, the more she feels like something's wrong with this town...

Is there ANY Chance at all to get the english translation of "Step Lotus" and "The Bodhi Fate"? They are published in Chinese but I could find no trace of an English translation by now. My inner "monk" (series Adrian.Monk, a traumatized obsessive american TV detective) is all upset and crying all day for not being able to read on Tang Qi's delicious style of writing.

Hey! I'm so sorry to say this but besides what's linked in our pinned post and the bits and pieces Admin Ro wants to do, there's no English translation for Lotus Step. It's not even finished publishing yet (we're at vol. 3 of 4 volumes) if you've at all gone through our blog, and Bodhi Fate hasn't even been written yet.

Hopefully you can find asian fantasy novels to fulfill your desire to read similar genre, be it translated works or western published Asian authors.

Why does now feel like a good time to leave Casualty?

One of my big reasons for wanting a break was to spend more time at home. It’s a long commute [to Cardiff, where the series is filmed] and I have a young family. I was also getting that itch to explore other challenges. I turned 40 last year, too, so it all rolled into one package!

Are you pleased that Ethan isn’t being killed off?

Yes, and that was very much part of the conversation when I was toying with the idea of a break. I said, ‘I’d like the door to be left open, please.’ I know there are no guarantees in our industry, but I like that Ethan has gone away, yet there’s loads to explore down the line. In terms of storylines, there was nothing in the immediate vicinity that they wanted me to play out. So it was nice to leave quietly, much like Ethan does in the episode.

Can you reveal anything about his departure?

Ethan is going for his final interview for the Jac Naylor Award, which is a six-month placement abroad. At the same time, he’s treating a young boy who makes him think about his own son, Bodhi. Alongside all this, Fenisha’s parents are in the hospital because her mother has a heart attack. Ethan starts to assess his responsibilities. He’s aware his future is probably going to be shorter than other people’s [having been diagnosed with Huntington’s disease], so he needs to make the most of life. It all comes to a head and he makes his decision. It’s bittersweet. I’m leaving, as [clinical lead] Dylan Keogh says, with an Irish Exit!

Yes, Ethan slips away without saying goodbye to his colleagues! But, offscreen, did you have a leaving party?

Yes, and it was lovely because it coincided with Casualty’s summer break in August, so it was a joint ‘Summer & See You Later, Ethan’ party. The cast made videos, there were a few speeches and William Beck [AKA Dylan] DJ-ed! I went back in October to meet up with a few of them and it was really strange, especially as there were some new faces! The swing doors of Casualty never stay still!

Looking back over the past nine years, what have been your favourite storylines?

The story around Olivia D’Lima leaving; I loved our two wedding episodes [which aired in 2021]. Although if you’d asked me at the time, I probably would have said it was too intense! I also really enjoyed the episodes where Richard Winsor came back in flashbacks [in 2021] and we relived what happened in 2016. And I always love those big, ensemble pieces with the whole cast. Our coronavirus episode was particularly poignant; we were telling a story that meant so much.

What will you miss most – and least! – about the show?

I’ll miss the people; the cast and crew are so talented and fun to be around. But I’m happy not to do those long days in resus for a while! We film them over a couple of days and there’s a lot of tricky medical prosthetics and the medical jargon is like a foreign language.

The next chapter of your career starts with you in the stage adaptation of Peter James’ crime novella Wish You Were Dead, alongside fellow Casualty legend Clive Mantle [AKA doctor Mike Barratt] and I’m a Celebrity… 2020 winner Giovanna Fletcher…

I’m really looking forward to getting back on stage! I’ve wanted to do a play for a while because theatre’s my first love. But I’ve definitely got that feeling of going back to school.

The UK tour begins on Thursday 16 February. What can you tell us about it?

It’s the sixth play by Peter James, and fans of his will know the character Roy Grace, a detective superintendent who lives in Brighton. Most of the stories take place in and around Sussex, but this one’s a little different because Roy, who I play, and his wife, Cleo, played by Giovanna, are on holiday. It starts off light-heartedly as a holiday going wrong, but it soon becomes more sinister – the people who run the hotel aren’t who they say they are!

Did you know any of the cast beforehand?

I remember going on a school trip to see Clive in an adaptation of [John Steinbeck’s novella] Of Mice and Men with my drama GCSE group! We also did a Doctor Who audio together [in 2012] and a Casualty-themed episode of Pointless Celebrities [in 2021], which Clive won while Di Botcher [AKA paramedic Jan Jenning] and I came last!

Have you seen John Simm’s portrayal of Roy Grace in ITV1 crime drama Grace?

Yes, it’s great! I really like the books, too. I’m immersing myself in the back catalogue. I had lunch with Peter James in Brighton and he’s a really interesting guy. He does a lot of research and has been to visit people in prison. He said I can ask him any questions, which I will be taking him up on!

Hopefully, some of your Casualty co-stars will come to see you treading the boards!

Yes, I’m in Cardiff, so they have no excuse! Without being too gushy, Casualty has been completely life-changing. I got to immerse myself in a character and a show, and now I’ve come out 10 years older with all these amazing experiences!

Bodhi too had caught up on the areas that had become off-limits for locals and tourists. One of those had been the Duck Pond, a place that he'd began to visit regularly for the fact that the five who were sleeping had all been found there. He felt it had significance with the disappearances. Of course, he couldn't be sure, but it felt... Supernatural.

Not that it changed much about his daily plan, he was still payed to find the students, he was still attempting just that, walking into the Police station with a smile on his lips, saying hi to everyone because he knew them so well already.

He'd learnt to befriend the people of a city whenever he was there for a job. Even if he didn't manage to complete it, it was still good to be able to come back and be welcomed, instead of being frowned upon for having been a nuisance.

He sat down in the waiting area, being careful with his long wool coat and waited for his appointment. He had several questions about the Duck Pond and Brann's Peak. "Ah, detective Kaneko, thank you for seeing me on such short notice," he said, smiling, when the local detective appeared. "I brought you some coffee." He held out one of the cups on the carton.

Hey anon! Thank you for the question!

Definitely some people with connections to those who got murdered, those who disappeared, or those who are in a coma, or even someone who was in a coma (so I can bring them out of it and give them many dreams). I'd love more Private Investigators like Anmol Bodhi Mohan or detectives on the police (honestly the police at Fenrir's Wood are a little like Hot Fuzz, they're good people, but idiots. Maybe more Brooklyn 99 vibes). And some more higher ups like the pack leaders of Fenrir Pack or other rich and well-standing people from the city itself, the ones who are now trying to cover things up and make sure the city doesn't get even more suspicious of the supernatural.

Case Study {Part VII}

Detective! Bodhi x Reader

Plot Summary: John MacArthur was found dead in his home on March 3rd, 2017. His family, especially his wife and sister in law, are emotionally distressed. His neighbor is strangely nonchalant, a former prostitute has been demanding child support, and the weapon is nowhere to be found. New LAPD detective Bodhi Rook has been assigned to this murder, and has been paired up with you, one of the precinct’s finest. Try not to let your emotions hinder the case, detective.

“We’re so sorry about the questioning reschedule, the place has been really busy as of late.” You spoke, smiling as the women nodded.

“No, we understand. I just want to find answers.” Sarah, John’s late wife spoke with tears in her eyes as Sadie nodded.

“Absolutely, we’re more than happy to help.” Sadie replied, turning and holding her sister’s hand for comfort.

“Now, would you like to go one at a time, or both at the same time?” You asked.

“Both, please. I could really use Sadie’s support.” Sarah stood up as you and Bodhi led them to the interrogation room.

“Is it alright if I ask…” Sarah turned to you, eyeing the bandage.

“It’s fine. I was in a squadron, taking down a drug ring in San Mateo with some fellow officers. Bullet grazed about five inches on my right arm, but not even deadly.”

“Wow. That sounds insane.” Sarah sighed while Bodhi held back his emotions. A strange mixture of worry, anger, and fear.Bodhi gestured the two women to sit across from the both of you, hitting the recorder. “Now, tell me where you were on March 3rd.”

Sarah started first. “I work at the hospital, on late shifts as a nurse. I didn’t get home until ten because I was working in the E.R. that night. When I got home… The door was locked, so I just went in, thinking John was doing what he did every morning, drinking coffee while in a half-ready suit.” She chuckled, remembering her husband while tears streamed down her cheeks and onto the table. “But when I turned back around after locking the door, there was blood everywhere. I… I saw him on the ground, and his face was so covered in blood that I couldn’t even recognize him at first. Then it all clicked and I screamed. I ran outside, calling 911, and then waited on the porch until they came.”

You nodded as Bodhi wrote down the details, Sadie hugging her sister in comfort.

“And Sadie? Where were you, March 3rd?”

“I was at home. I had a really bad cold that day, so my boss let me off for a couple sick days. I was mostly at home, and I rarely left, unless it was to go buy groceries. Then I got a call from Sarah and she told me what she saw.” Sadie stifled a sob, before continuing. “I… I couldn’t believe it. John was a wonderful man, it was awful.”

“Do you know of any people that might have a vendetta against John?” Bodhi asked.

“No. Nobody I know of.” Sarah responded, Sadie nodding in agreement.

He looked over to Sarah. “Sarah… Did you know much of John’s public life?”

“Well yes. Sure, he’d come home late sometimes, but he was a bartender.”

You and Bodhi looked at each other, before he decided to leak the news.

“Sarah, John often went to a strip club in the red-light district. He had a son with one of their workers, and is now dead. It sounds like a motive to me.”

Sarah leaned back, while Sadie held her hand. “John… What…?”

You sighed, closing your pad. “That’s enough questions for now. We’ll call you when we have further questions.”

You and Bodhi escorted the two out, turning to return to your desk until Bodhi took your shoulder. “Come with me.“

Bodhi led you into the records room, quickly shutting the door and turning to you, grabbing your bandaged arm tentatively with his hands. “What happened? Are you okay?”

“I’m alright, it wasn’t deep. Bullet just grazed my arm during the assault. Might leave a nasty scar, though.” You sighed, looking down and watching him trail his fingers along the edge of the gauze.

“I asked you to be careful.”

You shook your head. “Can’t really guarantee that in our line of work, Rookie.”

“No, Y/N, I don’t like this. Not if you come back with blood.” Bodhi bit the inside of his cheek.

“You can’t control what the division wants.” You furrowed your brows, looking back up at him.

Bodhi ran a hand through his hair, his voice growing louder. “Yes I can. Especially if it means your life is on the line!”

“I chose to put my life on the line for this career, and so did you!” You pulled back from him, holding your arm.

“I chose this job to protect the people I love, and there’s no way in hell I’m going to go back on that!”

“I don’t need protecting, I can handle myself!”

Bodhi’s hands bunched into fists as he strode towards you. “But I can’t! I love you and I want to protect you, can’t you see that? Or is your pride in the way?”

If you hadn’t been blinded by your own prideful fury, you might have registered that he said he loved you.

But you didn’t. Instead, you retorted. “I don’t need your help, I don’t need anyone’s help, I’m not a little girl, I can do just fine on my own!”

“What, because of Connor?”

You froze, shaking and yelling. “How do you know about that?”

“Cassian told me. You think everyone is out to manipulate you and you need to stop it! You need to just trust me and let me in!”

You walked up to him, nearly chest-to-chest as you looked up at him. “Why the hell would I need to do that?”

And that was when the world stopped. His jaw was tightened, but he put his hands on your shoulders and crashed his lips against yours, desperate and pleading.

For the first time, it just felt right.

By the time you had registered what had happened, he had pulled back, his eyes wide in panic at what he had done.

“I… Oh god, Y/N… I’m sorry, I-” you held up your hand, stopping his speech.

“…Bodhi?” You spoke, after a good five seconds of silence, comprehending exactly what had just happened. That was the first time he had ever heard you say his first name, and by god, he thought it sounded like home, cliche as it sounds.

“Yes…?” He replied, his heart beating a million miles per minute.

You continued, gently placing your hand on his forearm, fingers grazing his rolled up sleeve and the bandages barely brushing against his skin. “I’ve got about twenty seconds before my brain kicks in and I start overthinking everything. So before it’s too late…”

You looked up at him, your eyes mirroring the want and desperation he had as well. “Before my head starts racing… You need to kiss me again.”

“What?” He asked, amazed. The fact that you had returned his feelings was surprised him enough.

“No, no, nevermind. That was stupid, I shouldn’t have-”

This time, he interrupted you. He obliged to your request before you could change your mind, less rough and reckless than before. Both his hands were on your cheeks as he started pulling you closer and pouring his emotions into the kiss, as you finally broke your walls down. Your hands moved up against his chest, his tie brushing the top of the bandages as you let yourself accept the truth that you had felt ever since you started this case.

You had fallen for your partner.

You pulled back, whispering, “I’m sorry,” against his lips.

“I’m sorry too.” He repeated, before he came back for a third kiss. To him, it felt like it just wasn’t enough the first two times.

The two of you broke apart again, in a haze as Bodhi’s thumb traced your jawline, the man himself smiling softly. “You have no idea how long I’ve been wanting to do that.”

You chuckled, reaching up and taking his hand from your cheek, holding it in your own.

You and him stood in silence for a few moments in the records room, thankful that the walls and rows of boxes had practically soundproofed the room. “What now?” You finally asked.

“Well… we’re partners. So we’re going to trust each other.” Bodhi smiled, finally letting you go as you both exited the records room. “Then… I don’t know.”

You nodded. “Well, we can just try. Figure it out.”

“That’s good. That sounds good.”  The both of you made your way up the stairs and back to your study room, writing down the information from the earlier interviews onto the case board.

You looked at each other one more time, a slight smile evident on your face as you turned back to the board, Bodhi grinning and pumping his fist in the air as victory.

Detective AU + Locked in A Room - Bodhi/Jyn

Ooooh, intriguing. Okay, so, I would write…

Jyn is a private detective, Bodhi is the a cop. Jyn’s got a young face but she’s been in the business too long to still have anything resembling idealism, she started in boarding school, hunting down predators that preyed on her peers. She’s seen the worst that humanity has to offer and she knows: she’s better off alone. 

Bodhi’s new to the force, but he’s got a past that’s dogging him: one part youthful stupid decisions, one part bad neighborhood, mix with institutional racism and simmer. Bodhi got out of the bad situation, but when an old “friend” shows up demanding help, it’s not straightforward to say no, not when said “friend” has enough blackmail materiel to trash his new career (if he’s lucky: that’s still a better result than prison). 

So he hires Jyn to help him out “outside” the law, hating it every moment, he wants to believe that the system could work. Jyn thinks he’s naive, but she’s more than willing to take his money.

Bodhi insists on keeping a hand in, and they’re prowling through his friend’s house when ~stuff happens~ and they wind up locked in a room together. There are footsteps coming, and they are not getting out before they’re discovered. Bodhi gives Jyn a sad smile, and shoves her behind some furniture just as the door opens, he’s dragged off, Jyn is safe. 

And furious. The dumb idiot shouldn’t have sacrificed himself like that. Now she’s going to have to go be all heroic and save him, and nobody has time for this shit. 

(it’s only later that she realizes she never once thought of leaving him behind) 

She saves him, she kisses him, she sends him back to his force with his problem neatly handled. She goes back to her business, figures she’ll never see him again. 

Which is why she’s so surprised when he darkens her doorway, explaining that he really couldn’t in good conscience keep working for the law when he was so easily corrupted. He was wondering, if maybe, she knew of anyone who might be hiring, oh, say, a private detective?

Jyn looks at Bodhi, and decides that, you know what? For the first time since it was founded, Erso Investigations *does* have an opening. 

Give me two tropes and a pairing, I’ll tell you what I’d write!
