I need feedback on something, read on if you don't mind minor spoilers.
Yes, it's about Noah!
I rewrote the conversation with a different approach, but I'm having trouble deciding on what to stick with, just because I see merit in both but I'm not sure if I'm getting what I want out of the exchange.
Obviously you don't know the full story yet, but mostly I want to gauge what, at a glance, seems more interesting (or dare I say, immersive).

working on a better outline for chapter one and i thought i'd show a quick example of what i mean when i say "failure may be just as fun as succeeding!"
"failing" a check just means you failed to do what you were trying to do—not that you necessarily failed in general, if that makes sense. that doesn't mean it'll always have a positive outcome, but in this case it does!!

I'm obsessing over the fact that Volcarona sits perfectly in my hand, I could throw that mf like a damn baseball!
Anyways work on the comic is slow but being made, I've downgraded the background slightly so that I have more time to focus on my studies and the actual center focus of the comic, lol. Might be done around next week but don't hold me to that.

this project is over 4 months in progress and many mechanics are added already, this is a WIP that i dedicate nearly all personal time towards outside of my day job

Finally! It took a few months of working on and off (I don't do this all the time, unfortunately), but I have made a good dent into the Armor Tiers for Ryophi!

This one's Tier Two, the set made out of Tungsten- Tier One was already complete before I made this blog, but the Iron set is in the mod, too!
Designing armor for a large tail, on a snake-like body is REAL hard- Requiring a fair number of straps to keep it attached, but I think it's still really fun to make!
The spriting, however, is AGONY- Agony I am willing to endure-
NOTE: I always use the ""Female"" model for designing the armors, because "Female" isn't actually... "Female" in the game- I might explain how the Gender options in the Species mod actually work... sometime-
But! The changes are now updated on Steam, so have fun with it!

Update!
ive been working on map layout reworks and touch ups for the first floor!
ive had to stop myself from constantly nitpicking my tileset and graphics...i can fix those at a later time when im fully satisfied with the layout, important events, writing, and such!
given that im not focusing on the tilesets as much, the first floor is actually very close to being done! when i finish it, and get a couple friends to play through it, i plan to update the demo to include both floors!

Hi, regarding the discord server: It's not that the invitation is expired, but that I've decided to delete the server since going back there and checking the channels was an huge mental toll and felt really bad for having an inactive server.
Maybe in some future there will be a new server, but it must will be once the prologue is out at least, so there will be something to discuss over. I'm sorry for the inconvenience

Update: 12/2/23
Hello friends,
This is certainly not the update you all were hoping for, but I've put a lot of thought into it...
Unfortunately, I've decided to finally put this game to rest. While I have written more for the update I said I'd get to and post around Thanksgiving, I just can't seem to wrangle the story in the way I originally planned.
My writing style has changed, the things I want from stories has changed, the state of the world has changed, and while I had some truly exciting and ambitious plans for the this story, ultimately I have changed too much to feel good about continuing this game. I want to give you a game that's fun for you, but also that I have fun making, and I've unfortunately spent too much time fretting about it to feel good about it anymore.
I am sorry to disappoint and have dreaded quitting this game for so long because I did put years and years of planning and thought and effort into it. Perhaps one day when I know how to rewrite things to get them in the direction I want, I'll pick this back up. But I'm making no promises, and that's a huge 'perhaps'. As I said, I've changed.
Feel free to ask any questions; I'm happy to answer them. Even spoilers for where the story was going. I had such plans.
Thank you so much for your support over the years. You're all wonderful people who helped my confidence in sharing my work grow. I hope you'll all be there for the next project I bring to the table, and I've learned so much from this experience, so I can only hope my next one is even better!

Not as impressive as Olivia's mission, but hopefully will still be engaging.
I see each one almost as a kind of boss battle. Each has an interest in the conversation of what it means to be heroic.
For Aiden, heroism is a matter of practicality. For the majority to win, some have to lose.
For Olivia, self-sacrifice is what makes a hero, above all else. If you're giving yourself up in any way, you're being a hero.
For Petra, there are no heroes. Only people who are good at making themselves popular. All roads lead to hedonism.
The player will hopefully have enough room to interact and play with this theme. I am guilty of letting my biases play into how the "best ending" is achieved, but I also want to ensure this doesn't get in the way of an nuanced experience.
I guess that’s it for now.

SpaceFreight: Mercenary dev post
Hellooo, back again with gdeveloping. Main focus has been particle effects in gdevelop, I have used them for the ships engine trail, asteroids blowing up, bullets hitting stuff and missile explosions.

You can do heaps with the particle effects and they make the game feel much better. Also learned how to do a scrolling background (The stars) which gives the illusion of constantly moving forward. Overall pretty happy with progress on the asteroid game.

As for my thoughts on the readings, the writers tend to waffle on a bit with examples and whatnot but the concepts that they repeat about 5 times over are actually useful to think about while making the game. Such as having to constrain the scope of what I want to achieve in the prototype (Fullerton, Ch 6). While developing this prototype I've had many ideas such as upgrade systems, making the asteroids come in waves or levels, turrets on the big ship on the bottom, shield system, many more types of weaponry and lots more (roguelite??). While all these ideas are fun I have had to constrain myself to get a working, internally complete game.
