Thank you! Sometimes it is as simple as combining things you are already interested in. Like, with Salmon Road, I wanted to combine lesbians, bears, towns where weird things happen and unconventional relationships.

If you go back into this blog’s archive, you can find the oldest version of Whitney, Clementine & Joan. I drew them with a mouse on a school computer in 2018

I was an extremely dedicated We Bare Bears fanartist from 2015-2019 so I was already very interested in drawing bear characters at the time

In 2019, I repurposed the bear girls into my first anthro ocs + changed the entire premise of their story to include elements of supernatural investigation

(My original anthro concepts shown below; I was 18 yrs old when I drew these)

Over the years, I gradually added to their stories and personalities and refined what they looked like alongside developing my technical drawing skills

In general, the main trio of Salmon Road are very special to me. I am proud of their characters and the direction they are heading in

And I really appreciate that there are people out there who show such an interest in them! I hope seeing some of my older concept art was enjoyable for you. It's wild to look back and notice what has changed about my art (and what has stayed exactly the same)

This early development drawing for “Tom and Jerry Meet Sherlock Holmes,” has both characters sporting the classic Sherlock Holmes costume, of the deerstalker hat and Inverness cape, investigating a yet unwritten mystery. Although an early thought, this image would have staying power, and show up later in post production.

My Sketch of Grozni (the OG main antagonist of Disney’s Dinosaur)

Here is my full-body sketch of the original main antagonist from the original 1986 concept of Disney’s Dinosaur; Grozni the Tyrannosaurus Rex. He was going to constantly chase Woot the Styracosaurus and eventually have a climactic fight against Woot, with Woot winning. But it mattered not as the asteroid came and made the dinosaurs extinct. Basically, the original version of Disney’s Dinosaur by Phil Tippet and Paul Verhoeven was going to have a dark tone and have a sad ending, like The Plague Dogs (1982).

Grozni is different from other Tyrannosaurs as he has spikes running down his back, has spikes on his head and the back of has arms. He’s also bigger than other Tyrannosaurs, reaching a length of 50 to 51 feet in length and 22 to 23 feet in height.

So working on Book 5, I had to go ahead and give the old professor a proper refresh.

It's been ages since I drew him and by then he's picked up a lot of personality traits on the sidelines with friends!

I really love him and his new look- even if they're simple updates.

first color sketch of minette. i might change her shirt color to white to contrast against the dark manor, but i'm not sure. i also want to give her a headpiece, but again, not sure on that. i feel like she needs a little "something" to let her stand out, because she looks a little boring right now...
