Development Diary 1
Tumblr media
One of the fun aspects about Euphony's development, is the amount of ideas and concepts that the team keep on coming up with. The project lends itself to many fun and unique ideas, especially when it comes to the design. But as production continues, many of these ideas end up getting cut for one reason or another.
Therefore, we decided to showcase some of the exciting cut content. Here is some sketches of giant robots that could've appeared in the background. They would've either stood tall amongst the buildings, or climbed over them. These were created to showcase the diverse range of robots that exist in the world of Euphony.
The first one is essentially a walking crane. With the ability to travel to any construction site, with ability to even walk over buildings. The second one is more stationary. It's a gigantic robot that would clean large swaths of rubble, clearing the way for other robots. And finally, the third one is a cleaning robot, that could travel through streets and up buildings. It's many appendages carrying different cleaning tools.
Thankyou for reading, and be on the look out for other development diaries, as well as news for Euphony's Development.

Update XXII - Review of Current Previs
The team reviewed the current Pre-visualisation  with ourselves as well as with a few of our lecturers who gave us some really good points for how to push the film. ---- Talks with Dan Goodbrey Based on the Previs we currently have, there currently isn't any introduction to the character. It was suggested that we could try showing her meditating at the beginning to create an understanding of the character so we have more reason to connect with her. The scene could transition to the  forest as she looks up to the ceiling. Within this talk we discussed the fact that we would want to try and link the temple to other  earlier scenes so that the the temple is better threaded into the visual narrative of the story. The way we can thread the temple within earlier scenes could be to add props and similar textures to other scenes. ---- Talks with Frank Victoria   We were recommended to create more empathy towards our character, showing more of her at the start. This way, the audience will be able to empathise with her confusion and have more reason to want to figure out what is going on. Talks with Mark Wallman For the city scene, Mark helped us create an idea of what we could do to push this.He recommended having the crowd of people in the shot all being the goddess. They could all be walking at various speeds, the stop and look the camera simultaneously. He referenced "Being John Malkovich" as its weirdness is something that could inspire us. ------- Group Talk After our talks with the lecturers, we decided to meet and discuss the points and ideas they gave us and figure out how we would translate these ideas into our film. We wanted to see how it would look if we had the opening scene show the protagonist meditating. We would be able to show more of the room she is meditating in, which would help give the audience an idea of who the protagonist is and what she likes. For the city scene, we discussed how this would transition to the next visual scene. We discussed a few ideas and ultimately decided to have her fall into the floor and into the spiral. The floor would crack and fall apart, eating her up. To help introduce the idea of the temple, we decided to place the pillars of the temple into the beach scene. This could look really interesting as well as having other connotations and meanings that the audience can take from the scene. Lastly, for the temple scene, it might work best if the fire within the scene is also blue as this would allow the scene to be visually consistent rather can contrasting.

Introduction to this blog
Hey and thanks for coming to the blog site. It's an honor that you have shown interest in the development of the film by coming and reading this blog. The blog will show the development of the project from its inception to its completion, not only in terms of the VFX (Visual Effects) but with all areas of production. Updates that are exclusively for VFX will be updated in the 3Dhit thread which I will link soon. The first few posts will talk about the developments that happened earlier last year (a week of story development and some character development in August 2015 as well as Pre-production work that took place during the first few weeks of the university semester), once we are updated, I will be posting updates to the project as they develop.
