Draculaura - Decided to give her more lace and ruffles and switch the shoulder pads with bat wings.

I kept her og shoes and beret bc I loved them!! I also thought that short hair would look nice on her

Clawdeen - I actually really like her original doll. The purple/ green combo has always been Clawdeen’s signature and I’m glad that they also gave her an edgier look. However if you’ve been following me you might know how much I despise the biker shorts on MH G3 dolls ( the boots also look atrocious! ). I was inspired by Devon Aoki’s outfit in fast furious 2, giving her a more early 2000s style.

Cleo - I really, really disliked the shoulder pads and the random pink on the OG design! I was inspired by Kim Shui fashion collections and Beyonce Outfits.

She’s wearing a scarab bobbypin instead of her OG headpiece.

I completely removed the pinks from her design.

Lagoona - Lagoona is your fish next door! She’s rolling around the beach in her octopus blades 🫧

Kept her silhouette but changed her colours. I also changed her hairstyle and removed her hat bc I really disliked it.

Frankie - I’m still not sure about this redesign but I have to admit that Frankie’s design was really hard to reimagine. Their palette is kind of scattered around everywhere, with different patterns that would makes sense bc of Frankie’s character but they need to look more concise because I really don’t know where to look at.

Anyway, I wanted to give them a more biker/punk rock vibe, they are wearing leather pants and a leather jacket with leather boots. I also tried to give them a new hairstyle resembling a bolt, but I’m still not sure about it.

I wanted to wait until after watching the movie to refresh my memory before answering this and it was so worth it. I apologize Dy this might just turn into my 2 Fast 2 Furious review.

First of all it definitely went up to the top of my rankings. Roman’s personality felt different, in a good way. In the newer ones it feels like they’ve turned him into a goofy charismatic punching bag? Roman is still goofy and charismatic in this, but it isn’t all he is. His and Brian’s developing trust and the reemergence of their friendship is so good, by the end it’s like they’re rowdy teenage boys again. Him not having a goofy beef with Tej is also nice. They are friends. :) also everyone’s STYLE!! The only one who doesn’t have it is Brian, but everyone else’s outfits were SICK!! Tej’s first outfit? SICK. Roman only wearing shirts with the sleeves ripped off? And his little hats? SICK. SUKI??? SUKIS OUTFITS??? Rolling on the floor. I’m the ICU. SICK!!! She’s everything. I wish she was in it more. Idk if Devon Aoki is interested in acting anymore but I would love to see her in the newer ones. Before the first race when she’s like. Fingering fondling the gear shift, then tells Tej she hasn’t gotten with him because he doesn’t have “the right tools”??? My little gay heart. Suki my beloved.

Anyways I think 2 Fast 2 Furious might be my favourite of the franchise, with Tokyo Drift and maybe the newer ones trailing after them. I hadn’t rewatched 2 since University, and it brought back good memories of when I watched through all of them for the first time. 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕

Anyway my fast assessment so far: this will be long buckle up. Tldr readmore

1. The fast and the furious (2001): this is a recontextualised Western where horses are steel and men think they are also steel. There's a lot of shots of Brian and Dom gazing at each other wistfully, and a really long shot of Johnny tran's asscheeks clad in tight snake leather pants. The cars are fast and colorful and Paul walker kinda has the same babygirl energy as spn early seasons Dean who said that

2. 2fast 2furious (2003) the plot is a lot more boring than the first one, but that's OK bc there's Devon aoki in her pink car and pink outfit pink everything, and also both me and @rochastocade gasped out loud when we saw young tyrese gibson as roman pearce, that man is so smooth and ethereal and dust will never touch him.

3. Tokyo drift (2006) do not question why the main character suffers from the same issue as tobey maguire in spiderman, this man is a 30 yo sixteen year old. Halfway through we wondered why is the tag full of Han just eating snacks in the bg but honestly.... I get it. I understand. Perhaps the most swagful man in the franchise. Also the main guys best friend is literally called Twink I'm not making this up. Its fun and colorful and no don't think abt the plot too much.

4. Fast and furious (2009) I literally fell asleep during this one. This is the first one directed by Justin Lin and coincidentally also the death of horsegirlism in the franchise. There's a lot more guns and boring-ass army vehicles and less funtimes car racing. I genuinely do not remember the plot, they might have been in Mexico. Letty dies in this one but its OK bc she will come back later. Also points reduced for the boring name that makes me confuse it with the first one constantly.

5. Fast Five (2011) another Justin Lin production, another snoozefest. Which tells a lot bc a lot of people enjoy this one, and consider it pivotal for the franchise. I just really dislike the shift from fun street racing to guns and explosions. It's a heist movie packed with action and I was still bored 🥲

6. Fast & Furious 6 (2013) another boring title for another boring movie. This one's the final Lin production, thank goodness. They bring back some dead people, literally the plot was so irrelevant here. It's more big guns more boring cars. Where are my horsegirls

7. Furious 7 (2015) this one is a JAMES WAN production out of all things?? James wan of horror fame? It starts out strong, taking us back to a better time where the cars are fun and the girls still dress like it's 2003. It was fun, it was ridiculous, and it also managed to make me weep since sadly Paul Walker passed away while they were still filming, and his brother had to finish his scenes. They wrote him out of the franchise in a way that was very touching, without killing his character.

8. The fate of the furious (2017) props for the FUN name... fate... eight.... but sadly I haven't seen like a single car chase yet. The night is still young though.

And now for the real question, why the fuck are you watching these, liina? You don't even know how to drive? The answer is simple: yeah idk either, but I'm too committed to chicken out now. I still have a couple more to go so might as well.
