Severus hated mistletoe. He stared at it for some time, wondering if the plant deserved the Reducto he so wanted to unleash upon it. Deciding against the waste of magic, he turned to walk away — only to freeze in his steps when the person he’d waited all day to see said, in tones of fond amusement — “Hello, Severus. Look. Mistletoe.”

I fear the placeholder title may be a bit misleading so allow me to clarify; Barry’s royalty (a prince), Len is not but his father was Captain of the royal guard (also, it is through writing this that I learned much of my ‘knowledge’ of royalty comes from Disney movies💀)

Shortly before the events of the story, the kingdom of Central is overthrown. No one knows how he managed to do it, the castle had been thought to be impenetrable to anyone not wanted… alas, Eobard Thawne invaded and killed the king and queen in their own throne room; sparing the prince.

Now, Leonard Snart has been invited to an event celebrating the new king’s victory. He attends, more to get a lay of the land if you will, but ends up getting much more than he bargained for.

Excerpt from chapter 1 (and disclaimer that everything is in flux because it’s still draft one)

Len strode over to the throne, loud enough as to alert the prince of his arrival. Forced to kneel beside the throne, he was dressed in clean, noble garments, and a golden band of metal had been affixed to his neck as well as shackles around his ankles, but he appeared to be unharmed. Still, Len highly doubted that. The outfit was just a bit too clean, covering a bit too much skin. He couldn’t jump to conclusions however. Len knelt down next to Barry, an effort to humiliate him just a bit less, perhaps. “Prince,” He said, in a tone slightly softer than his usual drawl.

Barry looked over at him, well, tried to. The golden collar was attached to a short length of chain bolted to the ground; restricting his movement heavily. “What do you want?” His voice was quite hoarse and had a slight crack to it, but still stronger than expected.

Ahhhhhhh!!! okay okay 😊 I'm already excited for this. I did 27 but I might do 5 as well, just tomorrow when I have more time.

"I can hear you thinking," Len muttered quietly, his eyes still closed as he laid out on his back, one arm bent behind his head and the other resting on his bare stomach. Barry paused his internal argument with himself and his search of the hotel room for his missing sock, scooping Len’s t-shirt and sweater off the ground and tossing it onto the end of the bed.

"Oh yeah? You a mind reader now?" Barry huffed with a small shake of his head when Len made a slight noise of agreement but didn't bother moving to get dressed too. "What am I thinking about then?"

"If you should kiss me or leave me."

Damn him to Hell for being right.

"You said kissing wasn't part of the deal." Barry reminded the criminal, who still hadn't even opened his eyes or moved from his relaxed position. Barry wanted it to bother him, how nonchalant he was being while bringing up something Barry had been trying to form into words for over a month, but Len always seemed so peaceful right after they finished. Less guarded. Maybe this was the perfect time to renegotiate the terms of their deal.

It's been almost three months since they started this enemies with benefits arrangements. It had started after a robbery Captain Cold had pulled by himself, no Heatwave or Glider to interrupt the banter the two of them always fell into. No one there to say anything when Barry found the upper hand and pressed Len up against a display case. No one there to see Barry's eyes comically widen when he felt something hard pressed against his thigh. No one but Barry had been there to hear the seductive "That's not my gun, Flash," fall from Len's smirking lips. No one had been there to see The Flash throw all caution and reasonable thought out the window and attempt to kiss Captain Cold. No one had been there to see Len flip them around right before their lips met with a teasing "Ah ah ah, not so fast, Scarlet," The thief had not been shy about his desire or laying down ground rules for them the first night. Just sex. No kissing. No cuddling. No feelings.

Following two out of three of those rules wasn't bad, if Barry did say so himself.

"I did." Len said with a soft hum. "Doesn't seem to have stopped you from continuing to think about it."

"I just think it's weird, I've been inside you but haven't even kissed you yet, it's weird. Backwards." Barry said in defense.

"Necessary though," Len responded. "You wouldn't be able to continue our mutually beneficial relationship if we kissed."

"Says who?"

"Please, I know your type, and we can't have you going and falling in love with me, Barry. What would the world think?"

"That I've gone crazy, probably." Barry muttered back, mostly to himself. Was he crazy? Did having feelings for his nemesis make him crazy? Joe would probably think so. And Cisco. And Caitlin. And Iris. It was probably a good thing he hadn't talked to any of them since the singularity.

"Are you? I've always thought you had to be at least a little bit," Len replied, his tone almost wistful. Barry moved closer to the bed, slowly sitting down on the edge of the mattress, his eyes glued to Len's ruminate smile.

"Are you asking me if I'm crazy...or already in love with you?"

Len finally cracked open his eyes, meeting Barry's own searching ones with a challenging, soul-piercing stare.

"Kiss me or leave me, Barry."
