((A/N: First request for Red Guy! Sorry this took a while, I wasn't really sure where I wanted to go with this at first but I figured it out eventually))

— Red Guy normally doesn't say much and when he does it's normally just a quick "You look nice today" or "That outfit is cool". Even then, Yellow Guy and Duck will tease him relentlessly about it, so he tends to keep quiet.

— But if you two are alone without them to pick on him, he becomes a lot more verbose. It's adorable to see his normally stoic demeanor dissolve as he gushes about you.

— He's very observant and notices so many little things about you, which he'll recount to you later in a big long list of reasons why he loves you.

— This also means he's great at noticing when you're feeling a little down or self-conscious and need a little reassurance.

— If you compliment him, he'll act like he's not that bothered but he secretly he loves it. If you keep going the signs will start to slip through like his slightly raised shoulders or an ever so slight stutter.

— Even when the strangeness of the world gets him down you never fail to cheer him up and he couldn't thank you enough for it.

The reader typically doesn't show much emotion other than mildly pleasant or passive aggressive displeasure with exception toward one thing:they are terrified of loud noises, and whenever they hear anything loud they cover their ears and crumple up into a ball.

Red Guy

-He didn't mind your quite nature, actully, he enjoyed.

-You reminded him of well, himself.

-The most he's seen you express is a very slight smile.

-Or just flat out annoyance.

-He found you're passive aggressive behavior entertaining.

-Of course, once something comes alive and starts a dumb song about a lesson, he's waiting to see what you say.

-One time you flat out told one of then to stop and it was annoying. Which I'm pretty sure all of them were feeling the same thing.

-However, once one of then came alive with quite a big crashing sound. To which you screammed at.

-Everyone in the house was shocked on how you just yelled, this quite, calm person. Just screamed like their life depended on it.

-"Uh, are you ok?" He asks in his monotone voice, but with a slight bit of worry in it.

-You nod saying you're just scared of loud noises.

-It doesn't really effect him after that, so kinda just nods and takes it into consideration.

Yellow Guy

-He never questioned your quite behavior.

-Now, he has a lack of expression as well so he thinks maybe it's just hard for you to have huge expressions. (It could also be puppet design.)

-He gets really excited whenever he makes you smile a little, it makes him happy to see you happy. Especially when it's him doing it.

-Well, he was putting away the plates today, and of course, he drops them.

-And I mean ALL of them.

-This creates quite the loud noise. Making you yell in fear and fall to the ground.

-He questions why you were scared, in which you tell him of your fear.

-He feels bad for scaring you, and tells you he'll try harder to not make to much noise.

Red Guy Relationship Headcanons ☁️

ღ Reader is GN | Established Relationship | Just sweet little things to boost my account !

Initially, Red is VERY awkward. Poor dude has little to no experience in the dating game, and you’re his first test subject! Hooray! Nonetheless, he is very blunt about things and doesn’t hold back from telling you about stuff he wants to do with you, what he feels is wrong, etc.

He’s slow and gentle when becoming more accustomed to any physical affection. Whether that be holding hands, a hug, or a kiss- he’s not going to that good at it. He’ll attempt to hold your hand at an ungodly angle or simply brush his lips against yours instead of an actual kiss. Please forgive him, he’s trying.

On the account that you as well aren’t comfortable with physical affection, Red feels slightly relieved. On one hand he doesn’t have to feel awkward or embarrassed, but on the other he’s unsure of how else he can show his love for you, as he’s not much of a sweet-talker.

Communication is absolute KEY in this relationship and will 99.99% solve most of your issues or misunderstandings. He’s quite blunt, which is definitely a plus. Though sometimes that gift of his can be a little... much, you appreciate the openness regardless.

Not only is communication key, but patience as well. Red is not by any means a fast paced guy. Slow and steady wins the race. Not to mention he breaks under pressure and his shouting volume is terrifying. Could possible make you go deaf, who knows. You’ve fortunately never heard it.

Definitely does not show almost all of his emotions outwardly. Yes his face is covered, but I’m talking body language, voice, or even just a hint of an emotion in his eyes. Thank God he’s blunt, or you’d be entirely confused about Red’s feelings. It stresses you out a little, but you always remind yourself that’s just Red, he’s never doing it maliciously or purposefully.

If you two ever cuddle, Red’s body is an INSANE heater. You’re freezing cold, almost in a vegetative state? Fingers can’t move? You JUST climbed Mount Everest? No worries, he’s got you. It can be a tad bit uncomfortable in the summer. Not like you mind though. Being in your lover’s arms is enough.

Whilst Red may not outwardly show his emotions, and can be a little aloof, he still holds much love and care in his heart for you as he possibly can. That’s a fact. Anyone else (duck & yellow) who knows him can confirm that for you. Never forget it.

Red guy/reader observations/headcanons:

- His most obvious way of showing you he cares is by being a caretaker. He protects, cares for others, always paying attention to other’s needs and listening intently. He cooks for people, brings them snacks and gifts. He makes sure you’re comfortable, helps you stick to self care routines, etc. and he’s always there to support you.

- He has very active hands. They’re always doing something, fumbling, tracing, tapping.

- He’s not very comfortable with hugging unless you’re dating. You both ease into it very slowly but once you get there, it’s hard for others to pry you apart because you’re enjoying feeling safe and comforted by your ~special one~

- You can also see him melt a bit, relaxing into a cuddle. He sighs softly and likes to be as close to you as possible. He is the best cuddler with his soft, warm body.

- He likes to listen to people talk, because he’s not much of a talker himself.

- He shows love and affection by staring at people, but if he’s caught, he gets shy, looking away, fumbling with his hands. If you don’t catch him though, he’d happily just watch you go about your day.

- He’s very blunt with his feelings. This means being unapologetically honest when he’s both happy and unhappy. Luckily, this means he doesn’t dance around his feelings. He sometimes struggles to put his feelings into words. But he can describe them in a roundabout way, and will happily do so to try and help convey what he means.

- His laugh. It’s rare, but incredibly adorable. It’s a short, sharp little laugh, but you can hear so much emotion in it. When he laughs, you KNOW he’s very happy.

- He gets needy sometimes. He’ll be having a hard time, maybe feeling frustrated with his life or a bit lonely, and he’ll look for you so he can pull you into a big hug and find comfort in the fact you’re there with him. Despite his nonchalant attitude, he cares so much more than he lets on, so it’s good to check in on him.

- Although his voice sounds monotonous to most others, you, and the rest of his clump disagree. He may not express his emotions as strongly/outwardly but it’s certainly not impossible to tell. And happy Red is an absolute heartwarming joy to behold.

- You have so many silly in-jokes together.

- He likes feeling like he belongs with you and the clump. It makes him feel loved. You’re his found family. His best friends.

"Yeah, I do too, it's peaceful." Red Guy said, watching the sun rise from beyond the orange-colored sky of this new place.

You nodded at the two, settling yourself beside Yellow, asking him for his thoughts.

"I.. uh, I don't really know.." Yellow replied, the young boy yawns tiredly. His head rocking back and forth as he tries to stay awake with his family. You smile at Yellow, "well, let's explore later in the day, it's a bit early, isn't?" You said affectionately, picking up the puppet carefully as he snuggles into your neck.

"Hmp, I want to explore now." Duck whispers under his breath, but follows you and Yellow back to your rooms.

You pause, looking back at Red, asking him if he was gonna head back with you. Yet he remains silent, his focus on the outside world, much different from the one you all knew.

You tuck Yellow back in his bed, patting his messy blue hair before whispering reassuring words to see him when he woke up. Duck heads back into his bed as well, mumbling a sleepy "good-night".

You, however, don't go back to bed. Instead, creeping back downstairs to see Red still in the same place where you left him. His mind still elsewhere, hopefully somewhere happy, you hoped.

You open the fridge, clicking your tongue in distaste, peeved at the stains of blood decorating the inside. Opting to ignore it, you focus on a few items you needed to make a pleasant breakfast.

i love being cringe. we are all cringe. we are all free.

pre-relationship ~

red isn’t someone who wears every emotion on his sleeve like yellow, but he doesn’t necessarily act all haughty to cover up any of his emotions like duck.

red is very practical and so emotions, along with other abstract concepts like creativity, aren’t a high priority in his mind.

this doesn’t mean he doesn’t feel anything, of course he does, but when he talks, he isn’t typically thinking of how someone feels when he says it.

he’s very much a “we’ll cross that bridge when we get there” guy in regards to emotions on paper, but when he actually DOES get to that bridge he .  doesn’t know how to cross it LMAO

this is why he doesn’t really call the others his friends; it doesn’t mean he doesn’t like them or even that he hates them, he just doesn’t really know how to handle relationships and emotions too well

that being said, it’s very difficult for red to process having romantic feelings, let alone be in a relationship.

if it weren’t for the fact that he’s bunched up with two other puppet twats (my words, not his ♡), red wouldn’t really have any friends. he doesn’t go out of his way to form connections with people.

so even if red acknowledges his developing feelings, he is very, very unlikely to act on them at all.

and by god, he is so relieved when you tell him and he doesn’t have to.

he feels a bit bad about it, he wishes he could be more brave about it (especially since he thinks it’s silly he’s so afraid of expressing how he feels).

red feels relieved that you confessed (or if he confessed, he’s glad he at least got that out of his system).

but then he’s struck by the fear of how to approach you or talk to you or do anything with you since you’re both... Official.

to say red doesn’t understand the logistics of relationships would be an understatement.

of course he knows couples hold hands and hug and kiss and all that other stuff, but it feels weird when he even thinks about doing it himself.

if you initiate, he’ll be shy, but he certainly won’t dislike it.

it’s just the idea that he’s the one doing it, that’s what he’s afraid of.

he makes the mistake of even lightly discussing it with duck, who, depending on his mood, will either list every unrealistic ideal from romance literature, or will spout about how love is just a chemical and has no meaning. it’s a coin toss.

he’ll deny and deny, but eventually, he crumbles.

it didn’t really occur to him that he could talk to you about his insecurities and the pressure he feels.

after that, he tries to work on communicating with you more and not internalizing everything so much.

red isn’t a pda guy, but he is definitely affectionate.

most of the affection he gives is in private, and if he’s giving affection in Public, it’s usually small stuff like handholding.

"But, you don't have hair, you're a bird." The yellow boy says, head tilted in confusion as he shovels cereal into his mouth. "Feathers are hair for birds, idiot." Duck snaps, The yellow one looks down sadly at this, a slight whine as he goes back to his cereal.

After a few minutes, Red sighs and puts down his paper. "Y'know, I thought something would have happened by now." He says. Duck's brow furrows as he looks up from his mirror, setting down his comb. "You're right, I'm bored. Someone do something. Call someone." He orders. "Call someone? Do we have a phone?" Yellow asks. "Nah, I think that electric person took it a few days ago, remember?" The three shiver at the memory of the small electric girl, and the sounds she made when they swapped her batteries. Duck snaps out of it first, and throws his mirror off the table. "Well, find something to do-" "What's this?" Yellow interjects, picking up the newspaper.

"DON'T INTERRUPT ME!" Duck screeches, only to be ignored by Red. "It's a newspaper." "But what's this say?" Yellow points to an ad, that reads 'Roomate wanted, apply at address below'. Red takes the paper from him, looking closer. "S' a roommate ad. Y'know, for people you live with, like us." He explains, before pausing. His eyes narrow. "Huh. This is our address." Duck snatches the paper. "Our address-" He looks up, even more annoyed. "You put out an ad for another roommate? Am I not enough?". Red shakes his head. "I didn't put out an ad, and he probably didn't either." He glances at yellow. "I don't even think he can read." Red continues to examine the ad, trying to ignore Duck's squabbling. In all this noise, Yellow seems to be the only one to hear a knock on the front door. He hops down from his chair, and heads out of the kitchen. "Where's he going?" Duck asks. The two follow him and peek around the doorframe, watching as he opens the door.

"Uhm, hello?" You greet, looking down at the odd yellow fellow. "Hello!" He greets you, staring up at you blankly. You wait a few moments, but he doesn't go on. "Oh, for god's sake-" A green bird in a tweed jacket pushes him aside with a grunt. "Who're you?" He asks, eyeing you up and down with furrowed brows. "I'm Y/N, I saw an ad in the paper." You reach into the bag hanging at your side and pull out the scrap of paper. "Yeah, says here 'Roomate wanted'.". You try to hand the bird the paper, but he swats it away. "We've seen the ad, we didn't send it! Go away!" He squawks, attempting to shut the door. A red foot stops it from closing all the way, and a much larger red figure looks down at the bird. "Hold on now, come on. You wanted something to do today, maybe we could use a new roommate." The red man proposes.

"What, No! There's three of us! Just three of us!" The bird exclaims. Once more, the two characters argue back and forth, leaving you confused and feeling awkward on there doorstep. "I'm Yellow. It's nice to meet you, roommate!" The yellow man says, extending a hand happily. "Wha- Oh, no! My name isn't roommate, my name is Y/N." You correct, shaking his hand gently. "So Roomates your last name?" Before you can respond, the duck coughs loudly to get your attention.

"Alright, Roommate. We have decided to allow you to stay here, as long as you're entertaining to me." Duck says. "No, I made the decision you could stay, I pay the rent." Red says. "Do you?" He rolls his eyes. "We've got a spare room, upstairs, to the left. You can set up there." Red offers. "We can have bunk beds!" Yellow exclaims, and Red shakes his head. "No, they'll have their own room." Duck nods in agreement. "But... how can you have bunk beds in two different rooms..." Yellow trails off.

"Thank you! I'll go drop my stuff off now." You thank them and head past the duck, into the house and up the stairs. "You think they'll last?" Duck asks, glancing at tred. "W-what?" Yellow asks, worry evident in his voice. "I mean, anyone new we meet pretty much leaves at the end of the day, so they probably will too." Red shrugs. "I mean, I guess it's possible. Just enjoy it while there here." He heads back into the kitchen. "But, I don't want them to leave, I like Roommate." Yellow whines. Duck only scoffs. "Please you just met them." He moves to follow Red, before stopping and turning back to say,

"and there name isn't roommate."
