How many days does January have?
I feel a bit stuck in this boring routine, feel unproductive and tired.

tuesday january 16, 2024
officially started the first day of my last year of undergrad which i couldn’t be more excited about. i love the classes i’m taking this semester and i’m hoping to get all a’s so i can finish my concentration with a 4.0 gpa. mainly just got started on a bit of note taking and getting myself familiar with the new courses structures and professors teaching styles. also, recently purchased a digital copy of dead poets society which i watched while working on some notes and i am literally never getting over how much i love meeks.

Papercut
some thoughts I had about the papercuts in my life.
I got a papercut today.
I was opening mail, and I didn't notice the paper cutting my finger. I didn't notice, not until I felt a sting on my finger while cutting onions.
Paper cuts are always weird. They're painful, and such a nuisance to deal with. I would much rather have a real cut, one that hits you deep enough to cause you to bleed. One that you notice right away.
You see the pain that was inflicted on your body right after its done. You see the blood rushing to cover your new wound. The blood drowning your wound and engulfing it with its healing properties. Soon you will form a hard exterior around your wound, protecting it with a scab. And soon all that will be left of that cut is a faint white scar, that vanishes more and more every day.
Papercuts aren't like that; they don't have the luxury of healing like a cut. Papercuts are surface level and minute. You don't notice it until your crying from pain. Everything may look right, everything may feel right, until it doesn't. And that line is crossed in an instant. You wail in pain and try to find the source of your suffering.
Searching and searching.
That's when you notice the papercut. Something so minute and small, yet so powerful.
How can something I never noticed before, cause me to act like this? How can something so small cause all this pain?
Why haven't I noticed?
How much time has it been? Why won't it heal?
Heal. Please heal already.
I need to heal.

Happy New Year! My yearly Davesprite is here to usher in 2024... it's been a quite the 2023! This also marks 10 years since I started this tradition... yippee!!!
I made the piece this year listening to @toontitsgoopbrain's davesprite tracks (give them a listen they're really good!)
2023 has been on the quieter side for me, nonetheless I'm overwhelmed by the support I've had during it anyways. Thanks to everyone who stuck around!

friday january 19, 2023
study day with the bestie! i had my first in-person class of the semester today and it went pretty well. the professors lectures are actually pretty interesting and they give me a chance to do some notes too! after class, i meet up with gisi and we studied in the library until closing. got some dinner before going back to my place and studying some more (and stalking people we went to high school with on facebook). honestly, sometimes being a 19 year old college senior means staying in on a cold friday night to study with your best friend and talk about your futures.
