List of books to finish reading before the new year
- Four Thousand Weeks by Oliver Burkeman (except he’s starting to repeat himself and I only have so much undistracted attention—every time he talks about distraction I literally tap on my social media)
- A Dream about Lightning Bugs by Ben Folds (musician bio I picked up at work and read over half-way thru)
- Tone Deaf and All Thumbs? by Frank R. Wilson (neuroscience and music—this is the book that had me trying to teach myself some piano exercises…)
Plus a Hungarian immigrant family cozy mystery, the first volume of a danmei that will wreck me (Erha), another danmei about idols that I am “savoring,” and maybe a couple more kids’ books or graphic novels to round it out.

Hello little blue void. Let me tell you that I am doing amazing at my job and giving my boss grace because I know she’s overwhelmed and running at the speed of light.
But when I say I looked into and researched a complicated thing, then set up the tools needed to complete the complicated thing, my “hey I’m going to submit this Complicated Thing now” is a courtesy????? Not asking for permission?????? To be answered in frantic “No that’s the wrong thing!!!!! Not the thing I’ve been telling you about!!!!” when I have multi-step proof that Complicated Thing is indeed the thing she has been telling me about, and I’ve fact-checked each step??????
Anyway, I did the Complicated Thing. Because this is why I was hired. To take Complicated Things off her overladen plate. And so that is what I’m doing.
