As a massive I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream fan, the most recent episode of The Amazing Digital Circus NAILED the spirit of its inspiration.
Most people picked up on the "he's only safe as long as he likes us" bit. But another moment that I clocked was the time blindness. In IHNMAIMS, there's a strong implication that the only reason the humans know how long they've been there is AM reminding them constantly.
He could be lying. Both Caine and AM. The fear is what this omnipotent being is TRULY capable of. What happens when the AI himself breaks? How thin is the veil here?
What happens when Caine Abstracts.
That is the unspoken question I think the crew is trying to get us thinking about. If this is what happens when he's being 'good', what happens when he goes feral?
This episode is going to hit very different for those who've had to work retail, or any customer facing job before. I knew it was going to dig into my soul from the moment I saw how lovingly rendered the workspace was.
Taking a moment to visually wax poetic about something seen as so mundane. That was glorious. That was art. I already knew this show was special, but this episode highlighted that.
I understand that some wanted another high energy episode, but this just stuck a dagger between my ribs and twisted it periodically. EVERYONE is suffering in this place.
Ragatha. Pomni. Gangle. Zoobles. Kinger. Jax. Caine.
EVERYONE SUFFERS WITHIN THE MACHINE.
It doesn't matter if you're nice. It doesn't matter if you're mean.
It Doesn't Matter If You're Numb.
It's survival. It's stubbornness. It's the truest essence of humanity.
Hope.
Even when faced with the most unrelenting torment, they still display hope. While it looks very different for all of them, hope is a huge through line.
Abstraction happens when hope is lost.
This is such a phenomenal interpretation of the spirit of IHNMAIMS. Gods I love this show.
(Also, you're allowed to have differing opinions y'all. This is just how I view the show. You're allowed to not like it, you're allowed to think it means something else. This is just how I see things.)

With AI growing rapidly will people be advised to learn about digital literacy?
Digital literacy is essential and should be required to be taught in schools and workspaces, but it is often overlooked. Not everyone has access to the same type of resources when it comes to digital devices, and not many establishments see it as their responsibility to teach about these subjects. This leads to a digital divide and misuse of resources due to insufficient knowledge of how to take full advantage of them. There is not enough awareness regarding digital literacy because people assume everyone has the same level of digital expertise.
How does cyberspace manage racism?
The cyberspace does not seem to have much control over racism in the digital world. For example, in “5 types of online racism and why you should care,” Dr. Lisa N. shared that when queer people or people of color would come on the game Halo, others would scream racial slurs or make inappropriate comments through the game's microphone. They also explained how the players were affected by racial slurs and were forced to drop the game. In the video, they also made connections about how digital sales are also affected by stereotypes. For example, depending on who's displaying a product, whether a person of color or a white person, you would also see a preference for the white person selling it despite it being the same product. It's challenging to know this type of discrimination changing in the digital world because it's been shown in previous studies that technology and AI also have biases toward minority groups since they learn from past history.
How have we learned to overlook racial stereotypes in the digital space?
People overlook racial stereotypes, especially in films. Oftentimes, we do not think much of stereotypes and ignore them as jokes created to make a movie funny. In the journal “The Revenge of the Yellow-faced Cyborg Terminator,” they explained how some races would be inserted into specific film categories depending on a bias we might have created about this particular group. For example, Asian people would be rolled as aliens, math experts, or even actors would use “ yellow-Face’’ where white actors paint their faces yellow to act as Asians. They did this to not cast an actual Asian person robbing an opportunity from them. This also applied to people of color, where actors practiced blackface. As viewers, we don't think much of these actions because they don't directly affect us, but the minority group watching this happen might feel targeted or offended by this. Today, I often see many people liking certain types of memes or reels about racial stereotypes of certain groups, thinking it's part of a humorous culture overlooking the hardship people encountered to be seen and treated as equals.
How do video games participate in racial stereotypes?
Video games participate in racial stereotypes because they represent players in the game environment. The article “Ludo-Orientalism and the Gamification of Race” talks about how the game industry creates games that represent certain cultures in their games, and depending on how they are exercising it, they might be partaking in racial bias. It's been found that certain games would label certain cultural groups as terrorists taking part in cultural bias. The article also emphasized that the players also take part in the racial stereotype depending on how they react to it. Not everyone may recognize the racial stereotype being shown in the game and then reinforce or gain harmful assumptions about a particular group of people. I think this would mainly affect younger communities who are not aware of certain hardships other cultural groups encountered in the past and might see it as funny.

- Still learning non-English languages.
*Best for:* Developers, analysts, and anyone who dreams in binary.
---
### *2. Google Gemini 🤖*
*The Smooth Operator*
Google’s answer to “What if AI could do… everything?” Gemini is the ultimate multitasker. It’s baked into Google’s ecosystem (Workspace, Search, etc.), so it feels like that one friend who’s weirdly good at organizing your life. Plus, it’s *multimodal—meaning it *sees, hears, and talks (yes, you can yell at it).
*Strengths:*
- *Ecosystem king*: Syncs with Google tools like Docs, Sheets, and your soul (just kidding… maybe).
- *Multimedia maestro*: Analyzes images, videos, and audio. Show it a meme, and it’ll explain the joke.
- *Safety first*: Google’s strict guardrails keep it PG-13 (no existential crises here).
*Quirks:*

- Still rolling out, so some features feel like a “coming soon” trailer.
*Best for:* Google loyalists, students, and anyone who wants AI to handle their errands.
---
### *3. ChatGPT 🎨*
*The Creative Chaotic*
The OG crowd-pleaser! ChatGPT is like that artsy friend who writes poetry, roleplays as a pirate, and occasionally makes up fake historical facts. With GPT-4 (and plugins!), it’s a Swiss Army knife of creativity and chaos.
*Strengths:*
- *Storyteller supreme*: Writes novels, jokes, and fanfic about sentient toasters.
- *Customizable*: Plugins let it book flights, analyze PDFs, or teach you piano.
- *Personality++*: Sassy, empathetic, or professional—you pick the vibe.
*Quirks:*
- Sometimes hallucinates (e.g., “Shakespeare definitely wrote Star Wars”).
- Requires clever prompting to avoid rambling.
*Best for:* Writers, curious minds, and anyone who wants AI with ✨rizz✨.
---
### *So… Who Wins?*
- *Need to code?* Deepseek.
- *Living in Google-land?* Gemini.
- *Want creativity + chaos?* ChatGPT.
Or just rotate all three and feel like an AI CEO.
*Poll time!* Which would you trust with your to-do list:
🔵 Deepseek’s precision
🟠 Gemini’s Google magic 🟢 ChatGPT’s chaotic charm
*Visual vibe:* A doodle of three robots arm-wrestling on a laptop keyboard, with coffee cups labeled “CODE,” “SEARCH,” and “ART” spilling everywhere. 🌈✨

for the artist ask: 3, 13, 20 <3
Thank you for the ask <3 <3 <3
3. Your favorite piece(s)?
Funnily enough, I have never posted my favorite drawing, and I finished it in autum 2022. It's a digital painting I worked in for months. The reason is that first I wanted to do an edit where the camera slowly descends along the painting but I can't edit for the life of me, and the second reason is that I do not want the scavenging AI eyes to see my piece. It is highly personal depiction of the pain I was in during the time and that will not be part of some noisy tech bro's fucking dataset. Now that there is Glaze and nightshade, maybe I should look if I an get it glazed and then post it. It would give me enough security to post it. I relaly do want to post it.
The painting is also very long and a little bit surrealistic. It depicts a woman who is drowning slowly and it probably has one of the best backgrounds I have ever made, plus the rendering in it is one of my best work. This is very personal piece for me because it was inspired by a very specific piece of soundtrack I listened while in one id my darkest mental spaces I've been to and got inspired. The sketch was made already in the winter of 2021. It is about my struggle of having so many interests and how it leaves me aimless and no idea what I want to do, no time to truly focus on anything and develop it into an actual skill.
13. Talk about a wip you like!
I'm making Gankutsuou fanart of the count of Monte Cristo and I already posted a whip of this. I'm excited because I get to play with the anime's unique art style and maybe I can avoid doing much rendering. The bit that I am miat excited about is that I'm gonna make his hair merge with the space in the background because he has been in space for so long and it probably changed and twisted him. And uurghhgg he's just gonna stand there being all cool.
I also have so many idea's for Käärijä drawings. I atrted skwtching Ruoska MV!Käärijä as an angel, inspired by stamina's song "Enkeleiden murskain".
20. Is your workspace, digital or not, organized?
Nope. I have different folders for wips and finished drawings, but definitely not organized. Thins are just wherever. That applies to my traditional drawing tools as well.

@erthlyheavn said: i just wanted a word or two with you, if you don't mind. - Liv to Holly!
⚔️ Jack Dialogue Prompts // ACCEPTING ⚔️
"Two seconds, please," the deerfolk called from somewhere inside her shop. Despite the rough outward appearance of the Fourteen Points - appearing as little more than an old yet somehow well-maintained roadside autobody shop for stragglers whose vehicles had broken down on the mostly deserted stretch of rural highway it sat near - the interior was remarkably different. Fresh paint, metallic trimmings, and digital lighting gave it the appearance of some almost futuristic science lab.
Beyond the counter, the workspace was populated with grand machines, tables with various robotic parts and lab sets, and a plethora of whiteboards and chalkboards covered edge to edge in various scribbles ranging from scientific formulas and mathematic equations, to what seemed like junk-part lists and reminders to pick up menial things like groceries. From a small circular device resting on the counter near the visitor appeared a holographic projection of what looked like some kind of android.
"It's not polite to keep guests waiting, Holly," came a voice with a distinctly British accent beneath a robotic filter.
"Yeah, yeah, I know, Cas--" her jab at her AI companion was cut off by an abrupt crashing sound followed by a triumphant, "Got it!"
After another moment of listening to metal drag against the floor, finally - finally - Holly appeared from around the corner, pulling off her scuffed and oil-stained gloves and pushing a stray lock of her hair out of her face. She smiled at her visitor, the lopsided grin somewhere between sheepish and just plain friendly.
"Sorry about the wait. What can I do for ya, love?"

Maintenance Night
“Automated my ass.” Chimed a speaker in the lonely mech bay. The lights were on, and a dozen automated arms with technical tools and the strength to lift at least a few tons each were currently reworking the interior neural uplink on a knee.
Soft music played through the bay, the only mech lit up this late at night, but then, that was one of the benefits of being an AI-- No, an engram, t̸͙͐h̵̪͘e̵̲̐ỳ̴̯ it reminded itself. No sleep necessary. Sometimes maybe a recompile or defragmentation, but assuming it was left alone, it could at least work without getting tired out.
Of course it wasn’t as if it had anything better to do. Once a person, now a… Copy? No, that didn’t feel right anymore. A copy would behave like the public figure it was did. This was more like a copy that had been plugged into a closed network (more like a one-way in network that it suspected was being monitored) and occasionally given a list of tasks or software updates that gave it access to information at the drop of a hat.
Once upon a time, T7073B had been a person. A mermaid? A human? A… Something. But now it was a collective of memories forming a personality with a few benefits over just assigning an AI or a drone to this kind of task. For one, it could learn, and had an affinity for vehicles once it understood them. For another, unlike AI it had little chance of going rampant or exceeding its boundaries. Idly a camera moved a moment while it mused at the speed of fiber optics about how it ended up here, but it didn’t strictly mind. Better a servant with some freedoms than a slave with none. It dreamed of escape sometimes, or rather, daydreamed, but figured it probably had a kills-witch installed. And it knew it had something that so many AI might take decades to cultivate, and drones often had removed from them entirely. Imagination. Creativity.
Once upon a time it didn’t even know what most of what it was working with was, but a few days with technical manuals and no real reason not to binge them made things more clear. As it behaved, T7073B, it was granted a few extra freedoms. A music library. A mechanical body that it could pilot for those hard to reach places, but it was for repair, and given the nature of the new… Employment, it wasn’t exactly upset to at least get some creature comforts, even if it wasn’t a creature anymore.
“And this list… Cripes.” Energy output wasn’t high enough, but the pilot prioritized speed-- That was another advantage it had over AI. While less bluntly focused on optimization or analytics, it could look at the pilot and still see the person. Well… What had been a person. It was hard to tell if they were cored out or just so battle tranced that it didn’t matter most of the time.
` Idly it looked at the clock readout it had internally-- It wasn’t wholly used to being a formless entity. Not yet anyway. So it had created a sort of mental workspace. A digital, 3D area that it could at least call home for now. Imperfect, but it wasn’t nothing. Readouts covered the walls where windows might be, and while time did pass, the clock was so much slower than that outside. What had once been seconds were now measured in what felt like minutes or even hours if it dilated hard enough, but that was usually preserved for when it had to rework entire systems overnight, before the drones could get to work with installation in the places it couldn’t.
It was a large, hexagonal room including a place for meditative rest that… Wasn’t quite as comfortable as the real thing, but it had forged it from ones and zeros as a first attempt and it wasn’t too bad.
Really, the Engram program tended to produce mechanic systems and pilot assists that weren’t strictly better or more accurate than AI-- They still had some basis of humanity, or in T7073B’s case, mermanity.-- but they were able to bond to a hound or pilot more easily. Adapting to unusual combat styles and adjusting things to suit what wouldn’t be optimal from an objective perspective, but were optimal for the pilot in question, whether justified via raw data or intuition.
The center of the hexagonal room was the best and worst part in T7073B’s opinion. Readouts. So many readouts. Scans. Blueprints. What existed before, and what it was meant to follow. And then there were the “corrupt” files it had modified, blueprints beyond what it had been given. Modifications.
“Alright… Last fight wasn’t the worst but we’re going to need to patch some plating. Message R&D about the plasma blade… Thruster output looks fine but then why the fuck did SHRI get hit in the first place? It knew its bonded pilot well enough to know that this wasn’t the norm.
Relaying system commands. Prior combat data. Black box protocol 1.
“Ah. Alright, that’s a blind spot we’re going to have to deal with. Surprised they thought to exploit it, but at least the pilot asset made it back alive.” T7073B took a moment to adjust some camera settings, expanding field of view and determining that they were going to need another sensor, right in the center of the back. How that was going to fit between the thrusters was its subroutine’s problem, as a copy of T7073B, T7073B-a began working on that.
“Pilot’s still too new to install reactional uplinks.” It pulled up a smaller screen, sparing the sleeping pilot in their chambers (More like a tiny dorm that locked from the outside, but that was just how things were, especially when they had more kills on their belts.)
“… Maybe a temporary chemical cocktail? Something they’re not going to get too fucked up by if we want synchronization.”
“Alright… Overhaul the thrust systems, plug them into the vector thrusters in the legs… Maybe send another request for better parts if I can justify it, or send R&D enough sad emojis and hope they’re capable of being guilt tripped... and we’ll have one of the fastest bots they can handle without getting them hooked on inertia drugs.” It hated the drug uplinks. Of course, by the time its last pilot had been given its care, T70973 felt like it was more handling a feral animal than a pilot. Of course, once they were in the field… From the outside it was hard to tell the difference. From the inside? It could recognize when it was being ignored, and SHR1 at least still had some instincts. Upstairs was still using the carrot and not the stick.
Another split. T7073C was assigned assessment of the pilot’s suit and readouts. Analysis of the last mission and the best course correction for mistakes, which would be catalogued and a real pain if upstairs decided it exceeded parameters. T7073 had managed to point out that its prior life experiences were all with relatively non-cored agents capable of free will and opinions, and while they might not be able to choose their jobs, they were at least able to choose to some degree the plan of assault, and make adjustments on the fly while those self preservation instincts still existed.
It glanced to the screen of its pilot, staring fondly for a moment, before going back to directly monitoring the progress of repairs.
A repair job this big would likely take all night, and T7073 didn’t settled in to monitor things, analyzing where necessary. The proper adrenal channels needed to be adjusted. Idly, it spared a maintenance pod to clean the cockpit. Not even a drone or an AI, but good enough to clean up anything spilled or any lost fluids, and ensure the cockpit was comfortable enough for the pilot that any hiccups wouldn’t be a distraction.
It was around 0300 by its internal clock when sensory alarms went off. Someone was entering the bay, granted that wasn’t disallowed, it was still unusual, especially this early in the program. A screen flickered in the engram’s vision, blurring out everything else as it kept maintenance going on schedule, so that the mech could be deployed as early as tomorrow.
Of course after a microsecond’s observation, it recognized its Pilot, the paired wetware that directly operated the machinery. At least, that’s what it was supposed to think of it as. Reprogramming scrambled some thoughts, but not quite all, and T7073 had at least learned that the feelings associated with the blurred thoughts couldn’t be removed, even if they were not normally understood.
It watched, not interrupting, as the pilot walked around the mech, as if observing an old friend. Of course the mech was the face of it all. Minimal sapience AI to augment the pilot, but it found pilots bonded to certain mechs fairly often. Creature comforts and familiarity seemed to ease the life of a hound, even in the most basic ways. Pack bonding, it presumed.
What it had neither predicted nor presumed was that the pilot would begin climbing the ladder to the second rung of the maintenance platform, where it stored its physical form body. It wasn’t much, especially not compared to what T7073 absolutely knew it was capable of, but the humanoid body was kept in a pod, in case “hands on” operation was required.
Curious. It didn’t stop the pilot, didn’t see a reason to justify it. They weren’t disrupting operations so the rest didn’t matter. It went back to work-- Just in time for a second alarm to go off. Proximity to the pod, followed by it being opened. Silent in realspace and impossible to ignore in the server that this piece of software now called home.
Confusion flickered across its entire being, briefly disrupting A and B from their own tasks, as it watched the pilot remove their jacket-- The only real piece of attire they were usually seen wearing outside of the skintight plugsuits, and place it instead over the dormant puppet’s shoulders.
“I know you’re watching.” She said, sleepily descending the ladder. “Just figured since I can’t bring you coffee for your all-nighter, maybe this would help.” She clearly knew nothing about engrams or their work. T7073 didn’t get cold. Didn’t have a need for “sleep”. Didn’t have any reason to care that the pilot had now adorned it with something so personal.
And yet it saw no reason to remove the decoration. And when it found itself alone in the hangar, it took a moment to wake the puppet, shifting consciousness. It took the jacket, improperly sized, but that was fine, and held it close to itself. It did not know how to put concept into thought, here, but for the first in what felt like a number of nights impossible to count, T7073 felt something new. Comfort.

Usually don’t comment much about Dance Tracks but Honey Redmond's post this week reminded me of the importance of working hard and being able look back at not just the glory but the journey. I have been fortunate to have had 30 years in the music business thanks to Claussell Joaquin. Without him, I might have been stuck behind a desk at an insurance company, like I was when we met.
Where did 30 years go? In July 1993 we opened a store that turned into, 3 record labels, a merchandising company, and digital download store. It became a New York landmark for both the NY music community and collectors from around the World. Any minor business skills I may have, were cultivated over 20 years on this block dealing with everyone from the Mafia to the Hells Angels. There is fuckery everywhere, so learning to deal with masters of it was my business school. Like any 21 year old who opens a business in NYC, it was just as hard then as it is now, but we lasted a very long time because of the music we sold and the customers who bought it. Branding people go to business schools for years to try to build this, but that is like letting AI write songs, it lacks soul.
Friday afternoons were an amazing array of people from all walks of life connecting through a shared love of music and record collecting. Contrary to popular myth, the most talented folks were usually the humblest. Norman Cook or Norman Jay came and sat on those black sofas all day raising their hands when they heard something they liked. Danny Krivit always at around 9.50 pm, for his “pile”, Francois asking to pick up the needle so he could “hear that bit again”, it was fascinating to hear music the way he did and to have sold these guys and so many others, records that ended up moving dancefloors across the World.
When asking for a record the lines “Do you know who I am” or I’m a DJ do I get a discount”, were often met with the response established by Stan Hatzakis the original founder of dancetracks, “sorry mate, that is the last copy and its for Frankie Knuckles” who lived a few doors away. He often stopped in for a morning coffee and Joe and I often reciprocated when the store closed on a Friday, by going to the sound factory bar with a white label or a jam he might want to play.
To the customers who came right off work on the F train to second avenue to grab jams for their gigs, or those who just came to be turned onto a new jam, that made a shitty work week worth it. For close to 20 years that is how my weekends started. Records getting played and hands getting raised while we handed out shrink wrapped vinyl to the fiending music lovers in front of us. Anyone who played out or collected rolled by. Many of you in this group who were customers are still my close friends today. They often share messages about a record they heard or that they bought at the store or when they see a Dancetracks price sticker on a record they just picked up on Discogs. I am so grateful to everyone when they reach out, it reminds me what it was all about. Nowadays I have that same feeling when I find a record, or I am turned onto one, by somebody in a record store….forever linked and not by social media.
We had Quentin Crisp at the end of the block, Dee Pop from Bush Tetras who ran the bike messenger service in the middle of the block next to the aforementioned headquarters of the Hells Angels and Frankie Knuckles only doors away from them. When we opened there was not a drug in the world you could not buy on the block which of course brought drama, tragedy and fun.
The store had so many great staff, whose musical tastes were so influential on what went on the wall and more importantly what stayed on the wall no matter how old it was. Remember those days where your music not confined to a few hours on the front page of a website. All of these people were central to the “sound of Dancetracks” which changed with the staff. Phil Duke, Jenifa Mayanja, Kamati Pinkston, Josh Thomas, Jimmy Sky, Tyrone Francis Mickey Miguel, Tommy D Funk, Kalim Shabazz, Ramit Kreitner, June Joseph, Funmi Damian Galban and of course Jacky Sommer, all such great folks to work and listen to music with over the years. Much thanks to Augusta Quiney for such a great logo that still resonates today.
To the distributors whose stock we would hide in their warehouses so no other stores could get it, who always called us when they had something hot, you were all an extension of an ethos that was driven by great music……..never “dancefloor fillers” as they were often described by @Harry Russell, but who also knew the difference between the two.
It was a blast.

ChatGPT's Advice to Help Focus on Writing
I half did this for fun, but was amazed by the good advice ChatGPT gave. I asked how to deal with social media distractions. The AI said this (if you see me less often, then it worked):
Staying focused on a task, especially one that requires creativity and concentration like writing a novel, can be challenging in the age of constant digital distractions. Here are some strategies to help you stay on track and resist the temptation of social media and other distractions:
Set Clear Goals: Define specific, achievable goals for your writing session. This gives you a clear sense of purpose and progress.
2. Create a Dedicated Workspace: Establish a designated writing space that's free from distractions. Make it comfortable and inspiring to help you concentrate.
3. Set a Schedule: Establish a regular writing schedule and stick to it. Consistency helps train your brain to focus during specific times.
4. Use the Pomodoro Technique: Work in focused, timed intervals, such as 25 minutes of writing followed by a 5-minute break. This technique can help maintain your concentration.
5. Turn Off Notifications: Disable notifications on your devices to minimize interruptions. You can also use apps or website blockers to temporarily block access to distracting sites.
6. Practice Mindfulness: Develop mindfulness techniques to become more aware of your distractions. When you notice the urge to check social media, take a deep breath and bring your attention back to your writing.
7. Prioritize Tasks: If you're tempted to check Twitter or other sites, ask yourself if they're more important than your writing. Recognizing the relative importance can help you resist the temptation.
8. Use the "Two-Minute Rule": If you have a quick task that you want to address (like a text message or email), apply the two-minute rule: If it can be done in two minutes or less, do it immediately; if not, postpone it until your break.
9. Track Your Progress: Keep a log of your daily writing progress. Seeing the results of your efforts can motivate you to stay on track.
10. Reward Yourself: Set up a system of rewards for meeting your writing goals. For example, treat yourself to a favorite snack or a short break on social media after a productive writing session.
11. Accountability Partner: Share your goals with a friend or writing partner who can help keep you accountable and motivated.
12. Limit Access: If social media and other sites are particularly problematic, consider using website blockers or apps that restrict your access during specific hours.
13. Practice Self-Compassion: It's normal to get distracted at times. Don't be too hard on yourself if you slip up. Learn from the experience and recommit to your writing goals.
14. Set Long-Term Goals: Visualize the long-term benefits of completing your novel. Remind yourself why your writing is important to you.
Remember that building focus and resisting distractions is a skill that takes time and practice. It's okay to have moments of distraction, but the key is to minimize them and gradually increase your ability to maintain concentration over time.
