5 Skills An Administrative Assistant Diploma Will Help You Develop
When it comes to pursuing an administrative assistant diploma, most people are familiar with aspects such as document processing, filing, and other related tasks; but people who become administrative assistants deal with a wide variety of responsibilities that go beyond that.
In this blog, we’ll discuss five essential skills that an Administrative Assistant diploma program will help you develop, ones that most people may not think of.
Typing speed
Having a relatively fast typing speed is a very important component of any kind of job, but especially for admin assistants. An administrative assistant diploma program would have implemented a class where students can specifically focus on improving the speed and accuracy of their typing, making them more employable once they graduate.
Many jobs in professional fields, including administrative assistants or transcriptionists, want their employees to aim for a typing accuracy rate of 97 per cent, which is no more than three mistakes per every 100 words. Being good at typing improves efficiency and will make the job go more smoothly.
Interpersonal skills
Post-secondary courses or diplomas don’t often teach interpersonal skills, but it’s a crucial skill for people who want to become administrative assistants, as they will be the representatives of the company they work for and the first point of contact.
An administrative assistant diploma program will focus on teaching students how to conduct themselves in an office environment and continue to maintain professional communication and behaviour, both with workers internally and external clients. As well, students in the program will learn how they should conduct themselves in an office setting and what procedures are necessary for proper etiquette and manner when they’re in the field.
Software skills
There’s many programs that administrative assistants will need to be proficient in. This includes but is not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and many more. The softwares used to teach students in an administrative assistant diploma program should be industry standard and up-to-date with the latest versions and updates.
The computer software skills that students acquire not only helps them to work with those programs, but will also allow them to learn other programs more easily, especially ones that the company may be using, as they normally have similar interfaces.
Human resources
Administrative assistants can also be involved in the hiring process for new employees or assist in other types of management for employees. In the diploma program for this field, students are able to learn strategic approaches to effectively manage people for the company they work for, which will allow their business to gain a competitive advantage over others.
This goes hand-in-hand with learning interpersonal skills, as you will not be able to implement human resources management without having good and approachable relations with the rest of the employees at the company.
Accounting
Accounting is usually not associated with administrative assistants, but many people in the role are multitaskers and do practice accounting. When there might not be dedicated accountants to help out, or the accountants need some additional help, administrative assistants have to handle things like payroll, bookkeeping, and more.
In an administrative assistant diploma program, students learn how to deal with everyday financial transactions, sales, receipts, and payments, which are now common in many business and other organizational settings.
With these five skills, you’ll become a well-rounded administrative assistant, but in addition to that, it will also help you out in your everyday life, whether that’s with finances, relationship-building, or understanding correspondence.
youtube
Enrolling in ABM College’s Administrative Assistant Diploma program will give you a leading advantage to kick start your career, as the additional skills it teaches gives students extra value for the future, and provides in-depth, industry-standard software training.

Notes on the Bylaws of the Aguefort Adventuring Academy
We've had some revelations in this episode, so I thought it might be a good time to go back to my Musings on the Greater Solisian School District.
Before this season, we had learned a few things about the Aguefort Adventuring Academy's Bylaws from Fantasy High, Fantasy High: Sophomore Year and the Seven that are ambiguously canon:
Adventuring Parties are established on the first day of freshman year so that the party can graduate together and begin working as an adventuring party. The party is expected to participate in activities together such that they might go forth and be violent lunatics enforcing their will upon the world.
There are a variety of reasons one might leave an adventuring party--the one that applied to the members of the Seven was severe injury, incapacitation, or capture to the point of losing more than a semester of school. By technicality, the Bad Kids circumvent this by virtue of going to jail as a group for ~2 months towards the end of their freshman year--not enough to cause them to repeat the semester or break the party.
The Crowning of a Prom King & Queen was prohibited due to the prophesized return of Kalvaxus, Emperor of the Red Waste, given that Kalvaxus was in fact working as the Vice Principal in the form of a dragonborn named Goldenhoard.
Arthur Aguefort keeps numerous magical artifacts in his office and in various locations around the school, this includes objects like Watches and Wards, an abjurative ward that can only be affected by Arthur Aguefort and the Elven Oracle [Adaine Abernant], the Crown of the Nightmare King, and the Bylaws of the Greater Solisian School District.
Presumably, beginning in sophomore year, an adventuring party attending the Aguefort Adventuring Academy must complete a quest that accounts for 60% of their grade for that year. It is unclear whether this rule is universal or whether it applies to specific parties who have direct involvement in larger quests, i.e. the Bad Kids tracking down the Crown of the Nightmare King, the Seven Maidens going to the Red Waste to eliminate the remainder of the Cult of Kalvaxus. This ties into a later application of the bylaws regarding the Last Stand Exam.
Parties can have members in different grades, however, graduation and further work can cause the disbandment of the party.
To acquire a GED diploma from the Solisian School District, an adventurer/adventuring party must get the signature of the Superintendent of Schools of the Solisian School District and complete a class A, B, or C quest [reference my previous meta for more discussion of this]
Now, at the halfway mark of Junior Year, we have some more bylaws and school rules to consider.
Administrative
In the absence of the Principal of the Aguefort Adventuring Academy [Arthur Aguefort] the Vice Principal [Gilear Faeth] is the Acting Principal of the school and carries out all administrative decisions thereof.
In the absence of both the Principal [Arthur Aguefort] and the Vice Principal [Gilear Faeth], administration of the School falls to the Principal's appointed emergency staff: Principal [Interim Emergency Backup Principal Grix] and Vice Principal [Jace Stardiamond]
The bylaws of the Aguefort Adventuring Academy in particular are based on a combination of written and oral proclamations from Arthur Aguefort; thus some bylaws may be contradictory in their application, given the man's proclivity for bits and exaggerated speech.
The election of a student body president typically occurs around the end of a given school year, with students in their junior year competing to be president in their senior year. There is no indicated option for a vice presidential position, though there are other administrative positions such as treasurer.
Thus, when all options for administrative staff have been exhausted e.g. all appointed candidates have passed or are absent, the role of principal falls to the student body president, who presides over the Academy as a democratically-run educational institution.
Academic
Generally, students are expected to progress in the class in which they first joined the Adventuring Academy. While leveling can differ based on extracurricular achievement as well as background, the existing hypothesis places students in tier 2-3 starting in Junior Year*. Currently the Bad Kids are exceeding the hypothesized levels, but given their extracurricular achievements in adventuring, this is to be expected.
To Multi-class and effectively take both classes in which the student has interest, they are able to utilize the MCAT, upon given the consent of the class instructors for both courses. Reference previous meta for more information on the MCAT.
Measures of success in each class varies significantly; a wizard is not graded on the same curve as a sorcerer. One of the more extreme examples of this is the conditional pass of the rogue class; upon finding the rogue teacher, the student passes the year and no longer has to attend class.
Pass-Fail and Conditional Examinations
If a member of an adventuring party leaves for any given reason: irreconcilable differences, severe injury/incapacitation, capture or other forms of imprisonment, death, etc., the entire party is shifted to pass-fail for the entire year, and is thus prohibited from extracurricular activities.
If the faculty member/instructor of a particular class passes away during the school year, the entire class is shifted into pass-fail. This can have further effects on the adventuring parties of those students, since they are shifted into pass-fail along with their allies in the given class. The most recent example of this is the death of Yolanda Badgood and the shift of the Cleric class to pass-fail.
If a student, for whatever reason, has had difficulty throughout the year with academic success, especially due to systemic barriers, they may be eligible for a exam called the Last Stand, which is taken later in the year, and replaces the student's transcript. This exam can be taken as a party, or individually, depending on the students' needs.
*Tier 1 = Levels 1-5, Tier 2 = Levels 6-10, Tier 3 = Levels 11-15, Tier 4 = Levels 16-20

Dr. Malpractice
Frederick Chilton x Reader
Summary: Dr. Frederick Chilton had always hated you and you hated him. Mutual feelings make the world go ‘round. During one visit to see Will Graham, those feelings change.
Tw: mention of murders, Frederick being a snarky bitch-
~~~~~~~~~~~
Agent Crawford’s car came to a halt outside the Baltimore State Hospital for the Criminally Insane, the BSHCI for short. Three people emerged from the car; Dr. Alana Bloom, Special Agent Jack Crawford and Dr. Y/n L/n.
The building loomed over the three as they made their way up the steps, heading to the large dark doors ahead of them. Dr. Bloom was first to enter the building, holding the door open for the other two. The three of you signed in at the front desk and got your visitor passes before heading further into the hospital.
Your gaze shifted from picture to picture of all staff and administrators from when it opened to now, eyeing the picture of the most recent administrator, Dr. Frederick Chilton.
Alana chuckled and looked into your eyes, “Don’t start on him yet, that’s just a picture.” With that, you continued to walk with the duo, listening as they spoke about Will Graham- or the Chesapeake Ripper.
It didn’t matter to you, you were just here to annoy Chilton. You knew he dreaded it when you came here, “A waste of breath.” Is what he would say after every argument no matter what the subject was. Once it was how to spell ‘colour’-
Color
Colour.
You were firm on that answer.
Eventually, You, Agent Crawford and Dr. Bloom arrived outside Dr. Chilton’s office where he patiently stood waiting for you to arrive. A quick eye roll and a blunt smile told you his mood for today and it certainly wasn’t a good one. He ushered the three of you into his office, his cane tapping on the hard wooden floor as he wandered over to his desk, admiring his own awards and diplomas on the way.
God, he was vain.
But that goes without saying. A man who peacocked around with expensive suits, fancy cars and flaunted their own accomplishments was obviously, even slightly, narcissistic.
“So,” he began, a smug smirk planted on his face as he sat down. “May I ask why you’re here today, Agent Crawford?”
Agent Crawford gave a small smile as he folded his jacket over his arm. “We were hoping to speak with Will, if that’s alright with you.”
Chilton crossed his legs and hummed, as if in thought despite having made up his mind on what to say next. “I suppose so…although, could you do something for me?”
“Of course, what do you need done?”
“Will has been…less than compliant in his therapy. I was hoping you could fix that.”
“You just want him to open up for another book, don’t you?” You interjected, glaring at the man.
“Agent, unless I have his permission, I am not allowed to publish anything to do with him.” He smugly retorted, his hand perched on his cane.
You scowled at him, away to say something until Alana cut you off. She started to speak back and forth him, Jack joining in at times, but you stayed quiet. Silently seething as he had a smart response to everything. From time to time, you caught him glancing at you, his green eyes analysing you from head to toe. He looked as if he was trying to sum up your whole life in one train of thought.
“I guess you can go talk to him. Please do try to get him to open up, I’d love to explore his mind.”
“You’d love to exploit him…”
For that, you got a jab to the ribs with Alana’s elbow.
You could feel Dr. Chilton’s eyes bore a hole into the back of your skull.
“Agent L/N, would you like to stay behind? I would love some company and three people could overwhelm poor Mister Graham.”
“I’d rather wait in the car.”
“You’ll wait here, Agent.” Crawford stated, glaring at you. It took a moment before you nodded and agreed to stay in the office with Dr. Chilton. Alana shot you a look of sympathy before leaving with Agent Crawford.
As the door closed behind the two, you and Chilton stayed in silence. You refused to sit with him and even out your differences. Silence sat heavy in the atmosphere, clinging to each corner and crevice, making the air feel thicker.
Suddenly, he cleared his throat, making you look over to him. Your eyes darted over him, analysing him just as he did to you earlier. “What, Doctor?” You asked spitefully.
He paused, refusing to look away from your eyes before glancing down at his work. “Why must you insist on being a thorn in my side, Y/N?”
A dark scowl appeared on your face, “Agent Y/N.” You corrected.
He chuckled and stood up to walk around his large desk and head over to his bookshelf, tracing the tip of his fingers over it, coating them in a thin layer of dust. “Yes, yes, Agent Y/N L/N.”
“Why are you speaking like a Disney villain?”
Dr. Chilton scoffed and looked over his shoulder at you. “Excuse me?”
“You sound like a Disney villain.”
“I heard you, why? What makes you think that?”
You paused, letting your eyes clearly wander up and down him. “If I say, you’ll kick me out.”
“If I wanted to, I would have by now.”
You shrugged and stepped closer, looking at the books on the shelf. All were old literature, psychology, psychiatry, books on psychopaths and sociopaths. “Im surprised your books aren’t up here, Doctor.” You mumbled, earning a hearty chuckle from him.
“Im not so self obsessed.” His eyes glossed over to you who unaware of his staring.
Frederick knew he wouldn’t get along with you since the first conversation he had with you. Well, conversation is a loose term. It was more or less an argument. He was set on Abel Gideon being the Chesapeake Ripped whilst you and Dr. Bloom were adamant he wasn’t. In his mind, he made compelling argument as to why he was right, while you gave snide comments on how he was wrong.
After that, whenever he saw you walk up the steps to the Hospital from his cameras, he’d groan, maybe roll his eyes at a push. But he had to be civil. He dreaded hearing your voice from down the hall, slowly making its way to his office. He dreaded opening his office door and seeing you alongside whoever accompanied you.
But there was something so familiar about you. Maybe your clothes or your deodorant was the same as someone he used to know, maybe an old nanny or teacher, but it was comforting.
So, as the weeks turned into months and months into years, he grew more fond of you. Less with the argumentative side of things and more with that nostalgic feeling you brought with yourself.
Your head whipped over, catching his gaze. “Sure, sure…”
“I am not, Agent.” He snappily remarked, now pointing a finger at you. As you glared back at him, he retracted his finger and placed his hand on his cane, his fingers tapping rhythmically as a thick silence set between you.
Then he said something, something that shocked you and himself.
“Why do you hate me so..?” The somber whisper left his throat, his voice cracking slightly. His body shifted to face you, all his weight resting on his cane.
Your eyes widened slightly at his accusation-…
No.
His statement.
It was obvious to everyone that you didn’t like him. He was pompous and flaunted all he could have. Frederick descended from rich and was clearly used to people praising him for everything. But not you. You worked hard to get where you were today. He hadn’t.
“I hate you because you’re…well, you.” Your gaze met his, catching the pathetic and sorrowful look in his eyes. “You’re cocky, arrogant and not scared to flaunt what you have. You’re confident and you really shouldn’t be. You’re smart and you waste it on a stupid books and petty arguments.”
Dr. Chilton scoffed softly and stepped slightly closer, the warmth of his body radiating towards you. “Are you trying to flatter me or put me down?”
A small, sweet smile appeared on your face as you moved to face him. “Can’t it be both?”
Frederick chuckled and looked over your face, tracing every inch as if trying to memorise it. Something about your smile made him feel good. Something about it gave him the courage to lean in and kiss you.
~
Fanfics have not been great recently 😍😍
The scale of the present book already indicates the bustle of its subject: 646 pages and almost 4 kilograms bear witness to the over four decades of architectural creativity of Fritz Novotny (1929-2018) and Arthur Mähner, principals of what would become Novotny Mähner Assoziierte. The two were childhood friends and consecutively studied architecture at TH Darmstadt, first Fritz Novotny who obtained his diploma in 1954, then, five years later, Arthur Mähner. In that very year the two also founded their office in Offenbach and quickly became one of the busiest offices in the area: during the 1960s alone they participated in some 100 competitions covering all kinds of typologies ranging from town halls, schools and office buildings to hotels and hospitals. In view of the growing number and size of projects Novotny and Mähner in 1973 decided to enter associations with other architects in order be able to tackle large projects also in the future, hence the office’s name Novotny Mähner Assoziierte.
In 1997 Bernd and Elisabeth Krimmel published their massive monograph/work catalogue with Karl Krämer Verlag, a true diligence work literally covering hundreds of projects. The book begins with a brief overview of Novotny and Mähner's approach to architecture, their personalities and their self-conception as architects emphatically written by colleague Paulfriedrich Posenenske. Following this, the authors in chronological and typological order open out a broad selection of works from the 1950s to the 1990s. Based on the extent of the individual chapters one can spot the office’s focal points, namely on administrative buildings, hospitals and schools which take up a third of the entire book. But as all-rounders N+M also designed single-family homes, town halls, banks and hotels, projects that, just like all projects, are covered in comprehensive dossiers including photographs, plans, sections and texts. At this point it should also be noted that the authors introduce each typological chapter with a historical sketch of the development of the respective typology and thus situate the firm’s output within the history of architecture.
In view of this, the present volume not provides a comprehensive history of an important postwar architectural firm but also a very readable history of architectural typologies that makes it an unexpectedly worthwhile read.
I can officially now say that I'm an economist
Got my diplomas yesterday from all 4 years of high school and my official paper that I did my final work and that now I am an economists
4 years of hard work for that school, of me struggling with it bc I realized that I'm not into economics and that this is not something I want to do, the subjects were boring to me and some were difficult such as statistics in the 3rd grade, accounting through all 4 years ahaha and economic basics (mostly bc of the teacher), so it was a bit more harder for me but I still managed somehow
With this, I can find myself a job if something goes wrong with the college/I don't make it in (if I fail my matura). Jobs such as: work in a bank, offices, financial institutions, administrative office jobs, retail officer/manager, bank adviser, employee in public state institutions, etc
But I hope I'll be able to go to a college bc I'm not really into economics and I don't wanna work in those institutions or do those jobs
Here are my headcanons for the Bugsnax cast's academic qualifications!
I want to be extremely clear that I'm treating this as purely character history stuff, not some kind of measure of worth or intelligence. I know some people treat academic qualifications that way, but that's stupid and I hate it. This stuff is based more on opportunity and interest. And what would have to be true for the characters to be in the positions they're in in the game.
I'm using US definitions, and not going into vocational stuff, which is why I keep saying academic. Vocational is kind of its own tier of things that's hard to throw into a table with the academic stuff. Also, vocational qualifications in the US don't seem to be standardised, so it's hard to compare them to each other. Chandlo is totally a licensed carpenter, though.
Rambly elaborations! (How tired was I when I originally wrote these wow)
I swear Gramble's presence in the some high school section isn't about his comedy (?) Appalachian accent. It's because he didn't have parents, so he had to prioritise food and shelter over finishing his schoolwork. If he "wound up raising himself", like the instruction booklet says, he wouldn't have got a lot of support academically. Also, I headcanon that he has ADHD (among other characters), so throw that one on the pile too. But he will probably get a GED once he gets around to it. That stands for Grumpus Education Diploma.
Lizbert dropping out of high school (for a life of adventure) is from the Reddit AMA, and also I like it. She seems big into forging her own path. Also, if her comedy Australian accent is meant to imply that she's Grumpus Australian, it's way less stigmatised in Australia to not finish year 12 than it seems to be in the US. Not saying it's not stigmatised at all, but it seems like leaving school early isn't even treated as a viable option in the US? That's why I was so defensive about Gramble just now.
More down here --v
Wambus wanted to work at the family farm as a career, and was already getting training on that, so he didn't see the point of doing further education. Also, he's from a culture that doesn't really see college as the default path after high school. I think that's one of the things the instruction booklet was implying with the line about how he's "the type who's spent his whole life within a mile of where he was born."
Cromdo went to college to study business administration, but had to drop out due to various family emergencies, and could never afford to go back. That seems like about his luck. I blame Grumpus Reagan (I hope there's no Grumpus Reagan).
Speaking of college being the default after high school, Filbo went to college because that's what you do, but couldn't keep up, and dropped out and returned home within a year. I hope he at least went to some good parties in that time. …Wait, isn't he childhood friends with Lizbert? Is he Grumpus Australian?
I'm not a hundred percent sure what a liberal arts degree is, but I bet Beffica has one. Maybe she majored in photography. Or sociology. I'm going to say sociology.
I headcanon that Chandlo and Snorpy went to the same college for undergrad, and were roommates the whole time. Platonic roommates, because they were still in the "if only you could just date your best friend wouldn't that be simpler hahaha" stage. Chandlo's degree is in kinesiology, probably.
Clumby has a diploma in her office from the School of Journalism at New Grump City College, which you can see at the start of the game. But it doesn't mention what qualification she graduated with. It could be a Bachelor's or Master's, but the advanced degree section has a strict one Snakolyte limit, and Jamfoot was funnier. Actually, it seemed excessive to give an advanced degree to six out of sixteen characters.
Wiggle probably went to one of those performing arts high schools I keep hearing about. And then to one of those performing arts colleges. She had a hard time deciding between dance and music, but ended up settling on music because she thought she'd reach a bigger audience that way. You can't do fashion design at those types of schools, I don't think, or that would've come third.
You tend to need a degree in journalism before you can find work in it, so I think the Journalist probably got one. They did a year of art school first, but concluded that drawing was something they'd be happier doing as a hobby than for a living. So they switched to their other passion. That's my headcanon for why the quest art is so good, if they're supposed to be the one who drew it in-universe.
Jamfoot canonically has a degree in library science, but he doesn't say what kind. In the US, most degrees in library science are Master's, so he might not have needed to specify. And a Master's in Library Science is extremely a part-time barista qualification. Because it's hard to get a job in the actual field. As mentioned in his interview.
Eggabell has the most specific canon qualifications in the game. She has an MD, with a specialisation in endocrinology. Did you know that Doctor of Medicine is a graduate degree in the US, not a research degree? I didn't, until I was researching this chart a while back when I had insomnia. I was wondering why all these American doctors also had PhDs. I may not be the quickest on the uptake.
I went back and forth on whether Floofty would have a Master's or a PhD, but I think if they could refer to themself a doctor, they definitely would, as often as possible. Maybe they couldn't get into a program after all that slander they mentioned. Or they were in one but got kicked out. Or they're just still working on it. Anyway, I think they have a Master's in molecular biology.
Shelda has an advanced degree here partly because I think it would really annoy Floofty, but also, it seems like something she'd be interested in persuing. Like, a Master's in herbal science or something. I don't know if it would licence her to practice medicine, though, if she wanted to expand the range of herb-related stuff she had access to. Maybe a Doctor of Naturopathy instead? Naturopaths actually can be licensed as physicians in about half the US, and the stuff Shelda talks about is so broad that it wasn't clear she was supposed to be a herbalist specifically until the DLC.
Snorpy has a Master's in mechanical engineering from GIT. That's what I think. (Guess what the G stands for). He made something very impressive for his thesis, but I don't know if it should be related to prosthetics or not.
The instruction booklet mentions that Triffany has a doctorate from NGU (didn't make that one up!), presumably in archaeology. There's also some evidence for this in the game. She describes herself as a leader in her field, something that's difficult to be in an academic field without a PhD, and Floofty addresses her as Professor a couple of times. I know that the word professor can also refer to anyone who's teaching at a tertiary level in American English, but she's not teaching anything at the moment. She's doing field research into her dead grandma on murder parasite island. So I think they do mean she has a professorship at a university. That's something that almost always requires a PhD or equivalent.
When I was attending university just last Fall working towards a bachelor's degree and a diploma, I was miserable and stressed out of my mind. I remember every Fall I would have a breakdown and my Winter Break would be spent recovering my sanity instead of enjoying time with loved ones.
I had convinced myself that because I had put so many years into this degree I needed to continue to pursue it: this is Sunk Cost Fallacy. Last Fall was when I finally saw some clarity and decided to take a break from university and instead work. My goal was to figure out what I wanted to do for a career before returning to school.
By January, my bf's mom told me about a government program providing full scholarships for a few programs at a local private college and sent me the link. I applied and worked to manifest my acceptance. I was denied from the first program, a diploma in Digital Health Administration, but the school encouraged me to apply for a similar program beginning in May: a diploma in Digital Office Administration. This time I was accepted.
Here I am this Fall feeling almost no stress during my finals, feeling confident in where I am going, and feeling as if I can take on this career without hesitation. I have classmates who are so stressed out right now and they are working so hard I can't help but remind myself to recognize how far I have come. I didn't know school could be so enjoyable even when it is challenging (and I have loved school since I was a child.)
I feel free.
The good thing about that weirdo making a new account dedicated to just reblogging my previous post to tell me that I'm wrong is that I at least get to give further clarification as to my personal hcs towards the whole Mongolia and Russia met in the 13th century thing
Karakorum = Mongolia Empire Capital before it got moved to China during the Yuan
Sarai = Golden Horde capital
TL;DR at the end for those who want it
>Just because Russian princes visited Karakorum it doesn't necessarily mean that Russia accompanied them
>There were indeed princes who were sent to visit so I'm not denying that (for example, Batu sending Alexander and Andrey Nevsky after their father Yaroslav died)
>Mongolia and Golden Horde had a distant relationship both figuratively and literally, so building some sort of personal relationship with Golden Horde's subjects in Eastern Europe was of little relevance to Mongolia.
>It wasn't just Karakorum princes would visit, but also Sarai. These princes being sent to Karakorum was essentially just to ratify decisions that were made at Sarai previously.
>I do believe that Russia would have gone to Sarai when the initial decisions took place, but did not go to Karakorum to witness the ratification.
>To say that Russia must have accompanied these princes to Karakorum I think is an oversimplification of the political landscape of the time (like not acknowledging why they had to visit in the first place) I'll elaborate on this later but it's to do with the divide within the Mongol Empire and the strained relationship between Sarai and Karakorum and how things were ratified before the breaking up of the Empire
> There were some princes picked to go to Karakorum by the Khan himself, like when Batu Khan (of the Golden Horde) sent Alexander and Andrey Nevsky to Karakorum to visit Guyuk when he was made Great Khan of the Mongol Empire (albeit a bit reluctantly as he didn't agree with Guyuk's ascension). This was before the 1260s, when the Mongol Empire broke up, so administrative orders were still directly given by Karakorum "Initially, the Mongols ruled their territories in Russia directly from the center of the empire that was being built at Khara Khorum, with only a limited local presence of Mongol administrators, census takers, and military contingents." (Daniel Waugh, the Golden Horde and Russia).
>After the mid 1260s, all visits from Russian princes to Karakorum stopped and instead they deferred to the Golden Horde capital of Sarai or to the Golden Horde's Khan's summer camp in the Caucasus.
> I don't think Russia would have personally joined in these expeditions to Karakorum. I honestly see these as political/business endeavours the princes would go on individually to get their jarlyks and then obviously return from and take their positions accordingly "Russian princes had to travel to Mongolia to receive their patents of office (jarlyks)". (Daniel Waugh, The Golden Horde and Russia)
>Yarliks/Jarlyks were "written diplomas, which had long been used across the Empire to make formal announcements." (Marie Favereau, The Horde.)
>I'll give further context on this "Russian princes were sent to Karakorum." As touched on previously, they were sent to ratify decisions already made at the court of Sarai
>Yes, the likes of Alexander and Andrey Nevsky were sent to Karakorum. However before them was their father, Yaroslav. Yaroslav was initially summoned to Sarai for him to pledge an oath of vassalage to Batu, and Batu in turn was to put him in charge of all Russian princes
>However during this time (before the 1260s), every decision made by Sarai still had to be confirmed/ratified by Karakorum, so Yaroslav was sent to Karakorum to confirm this decision, but died in Mongolia, so he could never return and assume his post. Hence why his two sons were then sent afterwards, things didn't exactly go according to plan.
>This only further supports my point that these visits by Princes were individually embarked on mainly for the appointment/ratification of certain positions that were already made at Sarai. I don't see why Russia would need to attend the ratification process in Karakorum if he already witnessed the decision being made at Sarai. He has already acknowledged his place within the Empire by doing that and it's not as if he himself was being ratified as the Prince of anything, nor would he have a say in the process, so I see these visits from princes as them travelling themselves to be confirmed after the decision at Sarai and then obviously returning.
>On the political divide I mentioned earlier: The political divide between Sarai and Karakorum was also very apparent, which meant that Russian princes found it difficult to get support from both Sarai and Karakorum. In fact, "John of Plano Carpini reported on the poisoning there in 1246 of Prince Iaroslav of Vladimir, the senior principality of northeastern Russia." (Daniel Waugh, the Golden Horde and Russia). It is said that he was poisoned directly because of Mongol political infighting between Sarai and Karakorum.
>This links to my last point but Russian princes relationship with Karakorum and Sarai weren't uniform (because of the aforementioned divide), Alexander Nevsky won the favour of Sarai however his younger brother Andrey held a favoured position in Karakorum.
>Due to this divide I really don't think Golden Horde would have actually allowed Russia to travel to Karakorum, even if he wanted to join. If he couldn't stop Russia's princes from going over to his father whom he has a strained relationship with because of the ratification process, he was definitely going to stop Russia himself as a means of asserting authority over him.
>In addition considering this divide, it was probably in Russia's best interest to stay behind anyways
>In fact Sarai didn't always agree with Karakorum's decision in appointing prince's positions, Andrey Nevsky was initially chosen over Alexander as Grand Prince of Vladimir and thus displeased Sarai as they favoured Alexander.
>When the Mongol Empire broke up in the 1260s though and princes were expected to go to Sarai or the summer camp in the Caucasus instead, yeah I can actually see Russia joining this time because a) They were much closer b) Golden Horde was no longer a sort of "middle man" between his subjects and the overbearing Karakorum, and now that his annoying father was out of the way, he was now the ultimate authority. So he'd expect Russia to join just as he always did.
So. TL;DR
Russia attended the initial meeting at Sarai but not the ratification process at Karakorum as I believe that was a task the princes individually had to embark on + strained relationship with Karakorum and Sarai meant that it was probably best if Russia stayed, and also because of this Golden Horde would have wanted Russia to stay to keep a Hawks eye on him + Mongolia had no interest in personally meeting Russia anyways
I'm not saying anyone who HCs they met during this era is WRONG!!1 but I personally don't see it
