I crave violets in the fall, not the spring 💜 for many years we would spend August in France & I would treat myself to an inexpensive bottle of Violettes de Toulouse, so that fragrance is forever associated with the end of summer now 🍃🍂🍁 that soft soapy skin scent smells like showers after the beach, sweaters as the air starts to cool, days getting shorter & summer tans fading (yes yes I know) 💜 this discontinued Calypso Violette is one of my fav cheapies, a simple soapy violet that actually wears pretty well. I've been mystified by the disappearance of the original Violette de Toulouse and Violette de Parma perfumes - like they're just gone. Are they out of fashion? Out of production? I'm desperate for a new bottle of each and would love to know if anyone else has seen them...it's been too long since I've travelled to France. Diwali is early this year and it makes me pull out more of my India-adjacent fragrances. This year, I've pulled out the cardamoms. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Cardamom is the breath-freshening gum of the spice family. Mentholated and dry, it’s a cool spice that's actually best in the summer. These are three of my favourite cardamom scents but honourable mention goes to Cartier Declaration which is easy enough to find, and has a more mellow cardamom note. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Dior's Escale a Pondichery is probably an outlier because it's discontinued (but again, still available here and there, have a google). The cardamom is fresh and paired with black tea in a cologne-type scent, but this has decent longevity thanks to a functional fragrance jasmine base. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Comme de Garcons Incense Jaiselmer is one that doesn't get talked about because maybe it's not as good as the other incense fragrances. This has a dark burnt cardamom, probably a black cardamom which is larger and more pungent, also considered to be a warm spice instead of a cool one. Here, the cardamom is lit on fire, given a smokiness that brings out its camphorous facets. The cedar in the base adds to the dryness. I've never smelled incense like this. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Finally, Kenzo Jungle. Arguably, the most approachable and most polarizing. This is a BIG perfume, quite intense, and I'm calling it approachable because the cardamom is with so many other spices, but is also paired with vanilla which people love. But it's so strong. And so spicy! Wear with care! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Do you like cardamom? I'm known for my cardamom ice cream. The Demand Quite often now, we have customers coming in with fragrances that they wish they could get a hold of, but since the manufacturer stopped making that product, the only way to get more is through expensive online purchases. Luckily, we're working to become experts in giving clients options and variety in recreating their favorite scents.

How do we Recreate a fragrance?With our selection of oils, we smell the original fragrance and go through our oils to find what different notes might work together to, hopefully, recreate something close. A lot of the time the client will also smell through the oils and find ones they would like to incorporate, making it even more personal to their body chemistry.

What if I'm not in Colorado? We love the challenge of creating something through the mail! And it can be simpler than you think, too! Recently, Claire S. from Bethesda, Maryland contacted us through e-mail and asked if we could recreate a reed diffuser scent she had at home. We asked her to send us a sample of the fragrance, and she sent us the reeds in a plastic baggy (to make sure the scent was sealed in). Once we got the reeds, we spent a couple of hours constructing a few varieties of her blend in the form of 3 oil-based roll-on's. We sent those on out to her numbered #1, #2, & #3. She replied saying she enjoyed number 3 the most with just a touch of number 1. She then ordered a hand & body lotion in this fragrance and replied "It's exactly what I wanted"! So, then what? Once we create the blend, we have the options of putting that fragrance into ANY of our products! That means not only did you finally find a way to get that amazing scent, but you can now have it in a lotion, perfume, bath oil, warming oil, sugar scrub, and so much more.
