Practicalities

What: A Disco Elysium larp for around 100 players.

When: 18-22 & 25-29 September 2024 (1 day of workshops, 2 days of play)

Where: Old Military Hospital, Terezín (Czech Republic)

Language: English

Location: Old military hospital, in the middle of the city. Indoors and outdoors environment. Location has basic amenities (toilets, water etc) but don’t expect high standard (no central heating).

Accessibility: Not wheel chair friendly (no elevators, stairs, thresholds). Very sensitive allergies or asthmatics may have problems with the environment.

Time: Players will be required to be in Terezín on Wednesday evening, for a full day of workshops, briefings, player meetings and co-creation. The game itself will start on Thursday afternoon and run until Saturday afternoon — with less intense or no play at all for night time sleeping (players choice).

Costumes & props: Key costume elements and key props will be provided. You bring a base layer, shoes, and any extra props you want. Costumes and props are mostly attainable by modern second-hand shopping.

Food & drink: Scheduled breakfast, lunch, and dinner (served in-game). We will provide water, tea, and vegetarian food, with the whole menu available beforehand, allowing people to bring food to address their allergies and special needs.

Design stuff

Potential content warnings: Racism, violence, physical larping, political extremism, loud noises, realistic firearms, drug use, oppression, suicide, actual work.

Design & play style: Immersive experience grounded in a poetic world. Expect some scripted stories in the form of fateplay and collaborative rather than competitive play. Individual character-specific plots. Not full transparency. Some non-diegetic meta-techniques.

Sign up process: Lottery system with certain conditions applied by organisers. Upon selection in the lottery, players pay the participation fee and receive full character and access to the participant website. Players will have option to signal they are uncomfortable playing with somebody or think somebody is not safe to be at the event.

Co-creation: Pre-written characters. Act structure with some specific limitations and/or mechanics; otherwise, players have the freedom to create. Players are not expected to prepare or create relations, have meetings, partake in events, etc., before the event. Lore is established by organisers, and players act within provided frames. There is an established overarching arc for the larp, with some set events. Artist characters will be creating art during the game.

Physical & emotional safety: Opt-out techniques & safety techniques. Some themes, mechanics or content of the larp are very general and not opt-outable (for example, “poverty”). Mechanics for violence and fighting that lean more towards simple conflict resolution than boffer fighting. Dedicated organisers on premises for safety, medical, and emotional support. Calibration and escalation/de-escalation techniques will be workshopped and encouraged.

What will we be doing: Playing out conflicts, romances, brawls, revealing secrets from the past, pursuing political goals, dealing with community problems. Creating art, music, weird performances, or just striving to have a normal, working family. The slice-of-life approach means that work is also part of the game. Most players will have 2-3 hours of some form of “work” to perform each day (not very physically taxing). Scheduled and spontaneous activities in the characters’ social groups (hobbies, families, politics, interest groups, etc.). Socialising, trading, scheming or just chilling and people-watching. There will be plenty of low-threshold activities on-site for everyone to be involved in if interested. Our aim is to create a living, breathing world. Everyone will be able to get 8 hours of sleep.

Could the woman have their own gun in the 30s?

Yes. In an attempt to curtail gun crime, there was some federal legislation passed in the 1930s that required registration and taxation on owning and selling certain types of firearms in the US, but...well, as you may know, this country isn't generally known for its history of restrictive gun laws.

The degree of regulation has fluctuated over the years and much of that regulation is done on the state level with a lot of variance from place to place. I was soon looking like a walking piece of graffitied skin. I began to do other things. Like adding gauges to hjs ears. One I had them completely obliterated to the point of now return I knew that his physical changes had to come to a close.

For the next part in his journey I decided to delve deeper into one of his stories tropes that he wrote about alot. Problem was that I wasn’t willing to do any of the work. I found myself on the dark web one night and with a couple thousand dollars and his social security number it wasn’t long before the stranger had logged into the federal system and began to add charge after charge to his record. Drugs, possession, firearms. He was making this man a low life thug criminal and now there was nothing he would be able to do about it. He would be able to find the chat rooms or anything to get this resolved. I even perfected his signature and sending a copy to the stranger online he used that to validate the claims of all the charges he was placing on this body. We even managed to invalidate his college degrees and even high school degree. Now he was a high school drop out who went down the path of being a hard criminal. It wasn’t long before his face was being seen all over tv. Armed and dangerous. I was now living the body of a wanted man just like in those stories he wrote. It was t long before the police came and aggressively arrested me. And I just smirked. Bring in prison was going to be the utmost change to his life that would be able to make. And from the sounds of it. With all the charges I had managed to get on his record, he was going to be here for several years. Especially after I admitted to everything for him.

1) Dick getting blasted by Alexander Luthor Jr from Earth 3 in the event Infinite Crisis, left in critical condition and it got Bruce so furious, he picked up one of Slade’s firearms and aimed at Alexander. It only took Diana reminding him that heroes don’t break the One Rule to get him to put it down

2) When Dick was strapped to that world destroying device by The Crime Syndicate connected to his heartbeat in Forever Evil. Prime Verse Lex Luthor then proceeded to temporarily stop Dick’s heart but Bruce objected greatly to it to put it mildly and had to be held back by Selina and others from pulverizing Luthor. Thankfully, Luthor injected some adrenaline to restart Dick’s heart once the device was defused, allowing Dick being safely detached

Which Bruce flagrantly attempts to destroy in the Superman vs Batman movie. Honestly, if Dick died, the world would burn by Batman's own hand.

Discounting mystical powers and firearms, who would win in a fistfight: Lambi or Logan?

haha this is fun omg- All of this would depend on the plot point, Logan is just a regular person who knows how to fight and shoot, but if we have God Lambi fight him, she'll still lose because of size difference alone.

If we have post-crowning but pre-godhood Lambi fight Logan, I think Logan will still lose, at that point Lambi has gone through so much exercise during crusades that they've earned their musculature & strength with or without crown magic. However, they're used to being able to crush bones with their hand so they might be thrown off by the sudden loss of OP grip strength. Not that it would really matter in the end, a hit from Logan just does not compare to a hit from Lambi.

If logan and pre-crown Lambi fight each other it'll be a lot more even. Im not sure who would win, maybe Logan in this case? Lambi had a lot of luck surviving before their beheading. In my head pre-crown Lambi was more of an escape artist and would always fight dirty, and the crown gave them the ability to completely overpower enemies that they used to barely get away from prior. Logan has gotten into fistfights and shootouts, and knew how to fistfight before the suffolks died. so if the fight stays clean no matter what, Logan wins. If the fight gets dirty? Lambi can win.

Here he is, the special boi, Moxxie. Thankfully he didn't take as long as Mille's redesgin did being he was gonna have a more simpler design. Anyways to the notes:

I wanted to go for a professional yet causal look for Moxxie considering his personally. Much later in the story he likely dresses a bit more relaxed once he kinda feels more comfortable and confident with himself. He also looses up a bit much later personality wise as well as I.M.P become much closer to each other. When we get therein the story I'll likely make another redesign to show that.

In my AU, Moxxie was already a trained assassin before joining I.M.P, being taught at a young age and has done plenty of hits for his father and his business (I'm likely gonna rewrite the whole Mafia thing into something that makes sense because um...). One job however made him start questioning what he was doing being how these hits weren't just 'competition' he was taking out. You'll see once I post his profile up.

The tip of his tail is suppose to be a spade, not a heart (because ya know, greed ring, greed imp, gambling) but I don't think I did a good job with that.

Moxxie is Knowledgeable about firearms but fuck if I'm gonna draw them often.

Taking a firearms and toolmark class right now, and it is annoying me because when doing research you have to wade through hundreds of NRA gun-loving redneck blogs before you find a reputable source.

Now, I'm from rural Northern WI. We're talking, deep in the forest, anyone who wasn't living on a foreclosed farm was probably a logger, townsfolk once tried to stone my mom out of the town for being a witch kind of rural. Inbred enough community that one family had three sets of twins that each died before the next set was born and they were fraternal twins but each set looked identical to the previous set. Stuff like that. The true northwoods experience.

And once, a kid who went to my mom's school died, and his dad brought his gun to the school and threatened to shoot. This was in maybe the late 70s or early 80s, and around there, the school's rule was that you had to have your ammo on a different shelf than your gun. Most people hunted at least a portion of their food because groceries were too expensive. The man was dead in seconds and had over 20 gunshot wounds. Some would say this is an argument for everyone having guns. The first time I heard that story, I thought that was the point my mom was going for. I mean, our family had over 40, and I'd been taught to shoot from a young age. My mom said it was a failing. The guy was bereaved and in a mental health crisis, but he wasn't likely to actually open fire. She thought it was a situation that could've been de-escalated if anyone had taken even a moment to think before reaching for their gun. Of course, mass shootings are awful and we can't truly know how it would have gone.

But every time I have to read one of those sources where the author is like, "In those self-defense situations when you need your gun, you'll want to be able to fire multiple rounds quickly/have the best stopping power/whatever"

99.99% of people will never need their gun except on a planned hunting trip or perhaps fucking their partner with it.

Learn to use your goddamn brain and maybe preventable firearm deaths in the US will go down. If someone tried to mug you and you shoot them, you're the bad guy there. The mugger is desperate and broke and probably doesn't want to kill you. The few examples I hear are always stuff like this. Someone shoots a mass shooter? It has happened. But there have also been times when someone successfully de-escalated a situation where someone was threatening to shoot up or bomb a place. I won't judge anyone for carrying a gun for self-defense, especially after I got old enough to learn why my grandpa did (that's a story for another time), but I sure as fuck will judge anyone who talks like you might find yourself in an action movie at any moment and a gun is the best solution.

Murray: Get what?

Murray: Affirmative.  We appreciate your cooperation.

Mark: Did he say something to you?

Mark: Did you get all that?

MacKay: No.

Mark: (simultaneously) No.

MacKay: I thought you'd appreciate a demonstration!

Mark: We do.  I'm not angry, Mr. MacKay.  I'm fascinated.  I just want to make sure this conversation is recorded accurately.

MacKay: Ah, don't call me 'mister.'

Mark: Would you prefer Miss?

MacKay: Just call me MacKay.

Mark: I can do that.  Would you mind putting that on his file?  Is it 'he?'

MacKay: 'He's fine.

Mark: You'll be 'it' in official documentation, but that's standard procedure.  All subjects of study are 'it.'  For impartiality.

MacKay: Right.
