Mystica Eterna RPG Review.
Brief review of Mystica Eterna, and RPG set in a strange time that never happened on a planet called Terrene, a Pangea similar to Earth with a higher concentration of oxygen, magic, and lasers!
By James Pruitt. Radiance and Raven LLC. I was lucky enough to be sent a preview copy of Mystica Eterna RPG for review purposes. I would like to thank James Pruitt for getting in touch with me about this game. James appears to be mostly a one man crew working hard on this game, something I can definitely relate to. Also, my apologies for the lateness of this review. (Now that the holidays are…

Watching people write with their right hand is so...
Am ambidextrous with a favor towards left hand. The only time I SUPER PREFER my right hand is any type of whiteboard or chalkboard. Other than that it’s the same for anything.
I’m actually ambidextrous, I can do most things with both hands and am even dominant with my right when it comes to throwing things, sawing, twisting off lids ect.
But I am so not ambidextrous when it comes to holding a pen. My handwriting goes from bad to drunk five year old :U

The Friday Funny.
Some of my predictions might be way off, but I'm going for a full blackout. I think Wizards of the Coast is going to have a great year with Dungeons & Dragons, or I'm going to be right about a lot of things.
Here’s my Wizards of the Coast Dungeons & Dragons 2025 Shenanigans Bingo Card. Please bear in mind these are my opinions and predictions. We’ll compare notes at the end of the year and see if I was correct about any of it. I’m going for the blackout. Thank you for being here with me today. I appreciate you. Keep it real, but please strive for positivity, too. Please embrace the things that…

The Lazy DM’s Forge of Foes Review
I wrote this review over a year ago and represent it here with a few minor revisions. The recent fracas on X (Twitter) about the anti-colonialism article has brought this book into the spotlight. It's at the END of the book.
I enjoy a lot of the Sly Flourish books, mailing list, YouTube channel and blog. This book is dynamite for new and experienced Game Masters. It was written by Teos Abadia, Scott Fitzgerald Gray, and Michael E. “Sly Flourish” Shea. There is a wealth of advice for building and running monsters within its pages. My main interest in this book besides expanding my already vast knowledge of monster…

So I Heard There’s This Game Called Dungeons & Dragons.
This time the sad subject of the flawed book, 50th Anniversary of Dungeons & Dragons. was broached by eccentric billionaire Elon Musk of all people. Can we just get back to slinging dice and having fun around the table?
This particularly worn out topic has resurfaced yet again. I want to preface this with the notion that I have no desire to rehash the whole sordid story of the last three years of D&D history, much less the last 50. At this point I think we’d be better off celebrating the 51st Anniversary of D&D in a positive way. Apparently Elon Musk got wind of the controversy surrounding the 50th Anniversary…

I Called It!
As you probably know, I watch copious amounts of YouTube. I noticed the other day that a couple of the big name "DungeonTuber" types are making videos reaching out to new players. I saw this coming months ago.
I was onto this theme over six months ago. From an email to a friend of mine while discussing YouTube:The other thing I’m recommending to all of my friends, and I know I’m flogging heavily is all of the new players coming into the hobby with D&D 2024 from now until next year sometime. Let’s do as much as possible to encourage the new and returning players and DMs as humanly possible. That type…

Tales of the Valiant Game Master's Guide Better?
I found an article from the Kobold Press blog about the Tales of the Valiant Game Master Guide that doubles as a no-holds-barred review of another certain company's 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide. Followed by a Nov 14 retraction. yay...
Kobold Press put it all out there. Original Post: https://koboldpress.com/comparing-the-tov-game-masters-guide-to-the-dungeon-masters-guide/ Followed by the retraction: https://koboldpress.com/a-statement-on-comparisons-from-kobold-press/ I find it interesting that Kobold Press put out an official blog article basically blasting the new 2024 Dungeons & Dragons Dungeon Master’s Guide. I get…

Being a Dungeon Master is NOT Stressful.
I recently watched a YouTube video that rather set me off. If being a Dungeon Master or D&D content creator is too stressful, maybe it's time to reconsider your role in the hobby. Sorry, but this one might come off as a bit inflammatory (unintentionally.)
Please don’t let anyone on YouTube convince you that it is. Photo by cottonbro studio on Pexels.com I watched a video by a certain popular “DungeonTuber” or “D&DTuber” last night and while this person might have nigh onto a million followers on various social media I don’t think she knows entirely what she’s talking about. I want to be clear about something that was mentioned in the video- I’m…

Cultural Age Gap in the Dungeons & Dragons Community?!?
It's gonna be a long year for some of us. I'm getting the impression from YouTube and social media sources that we're in for another round of, "Euww. Icky old white guys need to leave the hobby." Why can't we all just enjoy the game together?
Say it ain’t so. I’ve been hearing some of my dear friends on YouTube talking about how Wizards of the Coast intends to shun the older fans or discourage them from playing the “new” D&D. I find this both sad and disturbing. Please tell me we’re not going to do another cycle of “We hate you old guys” on YouTube and social media. This is rapidly growing into the Silly TTRPG Internet Argument…

About Paizo and Pathfinder 2E Remastered.
Here we are chatting about my lukewarm takes on Pathfinder 2E and the company who puts it out, Paizo. I don't hate them, but I don't much agree with the price points on their books or some of their sketchy employee hijinks. Your mileage may vary.
Maybe I’ve been too hard on them. I received an email yesterday, which is unusual, regarding my more recent takes on Paizo. I think I came off a little too harshly again when it comes to them. I don’t hate Paizo. I certainly have more regard for them than I do Wizards of the Coast. I just wanted to say, “Thank you!” to the person who reached out to me. I appreciate you. I value your opinion a…

October 19, 2024 Freedom day.
The new 2024 Dungeons & Dragons Dungeon Master's Guide is already in the hands of capable "DungeonTubers." Now they get to tell us how great the book is going to be before any of us get to see for ourselves. And then there's some of the "new" content.
It’s that day out of most months where I take time out to express my disdain for corporate shenanigans. Sometimes I take a poke at the regular corporate stupidity, but this month I want to rant a bit about the TableTop RolePlaying Game Industry, specifically Wizards of the Coast. They’re the company that makes the world’s most famous roleplaying game, Dungeons & Dragons. The “information…

Promptober 2024 Day 12:Libram/Tome.
I am so happy and grateful for all of you. I'm swerving just a little bit into the Dungeons & Dragons lane today. It was unavoidable. The new 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide will soon be upon us in all of its artful glory or lack thereof...
Okay, slight divergence from the theme today… Let’s talk about the impending elephant in the hobby- The 2024 Dungeons & Dragons Dungeon Master’s Guide. Why? Because the “DungeonTubers” already have their copy in hand and are already telling us how awesome Wizards of the Coast thinks they should tell us it is. Yeah, I’m a touch jealous, but also not interested. I’m weeks if not months behind on…

Do You Have to Read the Whole Dungeon Master’s Guide?
I'm going to talk about why jealousy is a bad look for all the old codgers of the Old School Renaissance/Revival/Roleplaying/R-Word-of-the-Day. Please be kind to GInny Di. Some of us would trade places with her in a heartbeat if we could.
It’s an interesting question. Recently, a respected D&DTuber or “DungeonTuber” as some would call them, admitted she had never read the full Dungeons & Dragons Dungeon Master’s Guide from cover to cover. My reaction was simple, “Okay, so what?” Apparently this revelation came as a shock to a lot of older codgers who’ve been playing for 40+ years. Why? Because the young lady gives a lot of…

September 19, 2024. Freedom Day!
I was gleefully ejected from the corporate world in 2021. It's cool if it's what you have to do to make ends meet. I'll never go back even if WotC or Paizo offer me a job. Let's face it, that's not likely anyway, is it? YAY Free League Publishing, though.
Covering lots of little things today. I saw the new Dungeons & Dragons 2024 Player’s HandBook two weeks ago. One of our Friendly Local Game Stores had it from the Wizards of the Coast Brick and Mortar Program, apparently. I had a chance to thumb through it a bit. For $50, it’s not a bad deal if you’re really into D&D. Remember #dndbegone? I do. That said, I’m not really feeling the new 2024…

#RPGaDay2024: August 25th.
Part of #RPGaDay2024. I love DiceDruid.com.
Desirable Dice: Dice Druid. Every once in a while Dice Druid will offer up free dice, just pay shipping. I shamelessly take advantage of these offerings. They have always sent me very nice quality dice. I also think their actual paid dice are pretty cool. You don’t have to get the mystery sets, but they are pretty spiffy. This latest set came in the mail on September 15th. They’re a little…

The Latest Wizards of the Coast Shenanigans.
I'm going to talk a little bit about Wizards of the Coast and Dungeons & Dragons. I'm back to referring to it as "the ampersand game" after today. Official D&D is kinda dead to me. There are dozens of better fantasy games. But, D&D is the biggest...
This is one of those articles I am hesitant to write. Three things have happened recently in the world of Dungeons & Dragons that I am feeling somewhat obligated to touch on despite my utter disdain for this new/not-new edition that’s coming. I will continue to avoid any discussion of the art previews except to say “Euww” and move on. Today I want to briefly mention the new CEO of Wizards of the…
