By making this year's batch of bakers such a pleasant group of people, I now care about all of them. I am rooting for literally everyone.
I don't know if Paul and Prue realize how much this becomes a double-edged sword.
Because I care about all of them, I am absolutely invested in the justice and fairness of it all. It outweighs my love for the individual baker. I can only bear seeing the bakers go home if everything went wrong for them. If their ducks were so far from being in a row, each duck was on a separate planet. I don't want to see any of them robbed of their place in the tent because of audacious bias and nonsensical judging.
So I shall not sit there and clap whenever injustice occurs. I will not be part of bake off's delusional self-praise in these circumstances.
Do better Bake Off. Be better. All of these bakers only deserve the absolute best.

really bugging me how all this conversation and discourse about polyamoury is cropping up and I'm not seeing anyone use the word
amatonormitivity
If you don't know this word you should learn it, its a really relevant concept to this conversation

i do have to say that, if there's a theory that game changer's got an ARG based around sam looking at his hands when he says "i am your host, sam reich" he does do it earlier seasons, so either this has been going on for longer than we thought or he wasn't lying in the discord.
rewatching s4 right now and he does it in Don't Cry, Sam Says*, Noise Boys** and Survivor (Part 1). it doesn't happen in Race to the Bottom, Like My Coffee, Secret Samta 3, and The Official Cast Recording. Survivor (Part 2) does not have an intro so it does not count.
i don't know if this means anything. i was just binge-watching shit and remembered that this is something going around, so i thought i might bring it up if anyone wanted that information. i didn't notice any common threads (though katie does say "sam's a magician" in survivor part one) in tie color or something else, but. well. you never know. i'm just having a good time watching a game show.
anyway, game changer theorists, do with that info what you will if you want to look into it! happy theorizing and good luck with sam dalton reich!

if you don't mind me asking, and if i just missed something again somewhere thatd answer my question, i am so sorry. but. it seems like even tho with the assumption that korvin is basically from our world, he doesnt know all that much about general comic book lore. so like. how aware is korvin that he was isekai'ed into the comic book world?
don't mind, will clarify.
let's think of it like this. at what point does it matter how much you know about the world you've isekai'd in? especially for a comic book world, in which canon and continuity are already loosely defined? what about it being so close to the real world for most of the time, and then jarringly different during the highest stakes?
are you willing to bet your life on assumptions?
korvin's not.
he knows of batman from the cultural zeitgeist but has my general...uh, disinterest and skepticism in the messiness and narratives of comics and superheroes stories.
and on his general mindset (my mindset): it's folly to walk into something assuming you have the ground truth. a lot of the work i do day-to-day is interdisciplinary aka working between specialties to connect them into a larger analysis. and by god i work with some of the most brilliant people... in their field that can't for the life of them understand and articulate their working assumptions that only WORK FOR THEM. knowledge bias is real and it's a barrier for this type of collaboration. so, i'm extra-wary about going into things treating it like it has to be some way. i rather rely on a more abstracted and fundamental set of first principles and adapt as necessary.
and so you get korvin.

…Paul, the reason Syabira failed you on flavors is because you told her in the first challenge that her melon flavor was too strong, so she overcorrected. At least acknowledge that

uhm, yeah <3
:O a fun outing!!!!! there are so many cool different types of lavender i never knew... and not all of them are purple! i only thought lavender came in. well. lavender so seeing different colors is really cool...i especially like the hidcote pink and munstead, very pretty! i am running through the fields and picking flowers if they would let me pick flowers if they don't i am admiring their beauty without taking anything ^^ you're right actually i would love to try lavender ice cream! and i also wanna try lavender honey and lavender jam, they sound very floral and sweet, very nice c: i should find some for myself soon in like a farmers market or something i wanna try it irl... hmmm....from the gift shop i would like the lavender body mists, incense, lip balm, & bath salts. ok maybe not the bath salts actually ^^' i don't trust myself not to eat them. vietnam flashbacks. and also the lavender sleep pillow for the same reason i'd like the plushie (seems cuddly and would help me sleep) and finally maybe some lavender seeds so i could grow my own lavender! thank you for taking me this day was so fun, at the end of the day i reveal i have taken some lavender flowers and weaved them into a flower crown for you and i put it on your head. i love you. i also took the plushie and she had so much fun, here are two pictures i drew of her enjoying the day out ^^
she is laying in the grass and also sitting next to lavender flowers because i couldn't decide which drawing i liked better. ignore the way her palms are open magnanimously like jesus christ or jerry seinfeld i wanted to show her beans. also ignore the way her nose is white in the grass drawing i forgot to color it in. just imagine she ate a powdered donut filled with lavender jelly, okay? thank you again, this was really fun! bye bye 💖💖💖

My question is going to be "even if you think abolishing families is good, how do you intend to achieve that in any practical sense against the general desires and instincts common to almost every parent everywhere throughout all of human history?"
idk I don't think I have the anthropological knowledge for this but idk that the level of absolute autocratic power given to parents in a nuclear family context is all that universal? in the very least large extended families (or even to some extent neighborhoods) doing a pretty communal form of child-rearing seems pretty common historically. my experience is that those are pretty shitty too, but maybe suggests that some alternative arrangements are still possible. not sure.
like I think that particular kind of arrangement guards somewhat against certain issues like one particular parent being personally terrible or just the burden of the work, but at the same time the adults all sort of protect each other and are often still collectively abusive. I think they perhaps rely on such heavily-shared norms between the guardians that the parents feel comfortable ceding power. which leaves much of the problem intact.
I still think reducing the power imbalance by just empowering kids should be feasible and help a lot. like not being 100% dependent on the parents for survival. having access to resources. that kind of thing. which is what OP was talking about I think.
also there's a bunch of issues with schools but we do seem to have managed to reduce parents' monopoly on information children get at least.
