Summary: A doctor is a lifeline. In the Jack of Hearts game, Chishiya strives to be yours.
yeah, i took the physician reveal and ran with it. i tried to get into his head to portray him as well as i could in writing this and accidentally fell head over heels. let me know if i did him justice? warnings: large helpings of anxiety, chishiya-esque emotional manipulation, though affectionate. mentions of sex, fwb setup, my attempt at sounding medically educated. word count: 2741 requested by: anon (thank you so much for this brilliant idea, i loved getting stuck into it. i don’t write smut, but i hope this still gets you a little riled.) written by: archie support me on ko-fi

It’s human nature to fuck up. He should’ve known to expect it from you.
It was beginning to wear him down, your constant knee bouncing and nail biting since the third hour of this game. All he needed to do was watch. He was wildly curious to see how this would all play out, and he knew he was safe. Knew you were safe.
All things considered, it was a low-risk game: only trust was required, and he’d scored that easily by taking you under his wing. However, The idea of the Jack of Hearts was a poison injected into the bloodstream of the prison’s population. The symptoms of distrust and paranoia would migrate through the ranks, and the masses would spiral and die.
It was a simple game. The key was to not let your protector get infected.
But the symptoms were visibly taking a hold of you. The cafeteria table shook with your anxious tics, the water in your bottle sloshing enough to disrupt his attention on the surrounding cafeteria. He wouldn’t complain though. You weren’t annoying, no, but you could soon put him on edge if he let you spiral like this, and then he’d be infected too.
“Chishiya,” you called softly, clearly nervous to disrupt his spectating.
He didn’t tear his eyes from the scheming girl in the dress. She was particularly interesting in this setting; and by his deductions, not likely to be the Jack. “Hm?”
Your voice came meeker than normal. “What’s my suit again?”
He turned slowly, a brow quirked over a relaxed eye as he finally gave you his attention. “You forgot?”
“No. Just tell me.”
He sighed silently through his nose, calculating your thoughts. To ask this after he’d told you twice already, you must’ve been anxious about one of two things. One, that your addled mind would fool you into speaking the wrong suit. Or two, that you couldn’t trust him.
“Heart,” was all he said.
And you nodded. Your eyes hardened, clearly visualising the shape before your eyes. ‘Heart,’ he could practically see your mind reciting. ‘Heart.’
Or… Was that a calculating look? He flexed his jaw. Were you possibly tallying up the likelihood that he’d lied to you?
He focused on the accidental downturn of his lips. He shouldn’t be double reading you like that - his own intuition was the only concrete thing he had. He’d never been wrong before. He’d kept the both of you alive for this long based on his skill alone, and he’d not let your lives slip away in a measly Jack’s game.
With a slow blink, he made the conscious choice not to chip away at his own trust in himself, as was undeniably the Jack’s aim in this game.
Chishiya’s gaze lowered to where your fingertips danced on the tabletop. A heart shape. Over and over. Frantic, disturbed. You were slipping.
Against his better judgement, he reached out a hand to clasp over your fingers, quietly amused when those sweet, round eyes fixed on his face. You were so scared, so anxious, and the part inside of him that felt for you lit a soft smile on his lips.
You’d never been good at heart games with that anxious disposition, but that was why he’d kept you by his side. You were an easy window into the minds of his surroundings with how easily he could read you. Your distress on the outside showed blatantly the fear of the people in this game. Everyone under the roof would be feeling it. Even the Jack… Especially the Jack.
Chishiya had found you early on in the games-- only the two of you had survived the Six of Hearts. You were entirely integral to his methods of survival that day, so he stole you away to the Beach and was sure to never let you have a game without him. Losing you as the key to his readings would surely damn him someday. Yet somewhere along the line, he grew… fond.
It must’ve been your consistent proximity, he’d reasoned at first. How your constant being around became a sense of ‘normal’ for both he and Kuina, how your raw, unapologetic humanity was a refreshing shift in his life, how you were a brilliant vessel in the games.
He’d protect you, and you’d provide him the opposite perspective as the control in his readings where everyone else was the variable. The perfect symbiotic relationship in this land.
And perhaps that may have been the case. Perhaps that was the foundation for which he felt appreciative of you, the foundation for a so-called friendship. But it didn’t explain how you’d developed into more for him.
His hold on your fingers tightened, gaze fixed on them as he recalled how they’d thread through his hair, night after night. How they’d unzip his hoodie at the Beach. How they’d scramble to tug the sheets over your naked body when a militant barged through the unlockable door to call him into an executive meeting. He couldn’t help the huff of amusement at the thought. Your eyes were as sweet and panicked then as they were now.
But it wasn’t the same. There, you had the safety of the blankets in his room. A sanctuary. Here, you must’ve felt so exposed to the Jack’s poison. Knee bouncing beneath the table and water bottle gripped tight in one hand, what he could swear was a thin sheen of sweat over your skin. You were really losing your nerve, and he needed to be your antidote.
“Follow me,” he murmured, his interest in the room’s population dissipated. With a gentle nod in a moment of reassurance, he let go of your fingers to let you take up your bottle of water and led you from the cafeteria.
His hands burrowed into his pockets as he walked. He took his slow time, sure to register his surroundings in his peripherals even as he gazed straight ahead, effortless as ever.
Your distinct footsteps followed close behind, audibly unsure and glancing around to the others as you tagged along. He knew you had no clue yet. You were playing it blind and suffering for it.
He took you aside into one of the prison’s meeting rooms where once upon a time, a board of directors would’ve gathered. They’d have administered handfuls of men’s fates, and they’d have considered them less than rats. Now this was where Chishiya would administer your own fate, purely because he held you dear.
He opened a palm to gesture to the end of the table. “Take a seat,” he spoke, ever relaxed, and watched you hop up onto the end of the table. It was rickety, chairs kicked and strewn about, the room only lit by the game-master’s searchlights that shone into the windows.
You looked far from comfortable perched up there, the glare lighting half of your face, and he found himself silent. He just looked at you for a moment. How beautiful you were.
He’d noticed many times, of course. The flutter of your lashes as you looked over his features in a fruitless attempt to read his face. Your parted lips channelling the oxygen that fuelled your body, though your lungs delivered it all shaky and uneven. You were stunning to him, even in the worst of times. Even when you were drenched in the crimson of lives you outlived.
But… There was something in this moment. Something about how right now, he was your lifeline. He held that beautiful existence in his hands and this time, he had the power to choose his method of helping. No supervisors to end your life with a swift letter, no list of priority to bump you down. Or at least, you were the priority.
“What is it?” You jerked him from his thoughts, your ankle bouncing once more where it swung below the table. “Chishiya?”
He gifted you a smile, but it didn’t soothe you.
Your eyes narrowed instead. “What are you hiding from me?”
A soft hum of laughter as he took slow, deliberate steps closer until he stood directly before you. A pinkness on your neck caught his eye and his head tipped in curiosity. He reached to slip a finger into your collar, lips pursed in question as he felt the irritated heat of your skin underneath. “Mm? Do you have a latex allergy?”
“Lat-? No.”
He pulled gently on the band at your neck, stepping even closer to peer at the line of irritation from the garment. It wasn’t until he finally removed his hold that he noted the moisture on his finger-- your sweat. The salt must have caught in the material and rubbed you raw, leading to irritation and the slightest blood spots beneath your skin.
“You’ve been pulling at the collar.”
“It’s tighter than when we started.”
Chishiya knew that wasn’t true. His was perfectly fine - comfortable, even - but he didn’t give a thought to argue. Your stress was having physical implications, making everything even worse for you. Anxiety really is a bitch, he mused.
“Water.” He held a hand out to the bottle and you placed it in his palm. His eyes fixed on yours as he opened it up-- and only at this point did he realise quite how close he was.
Your knees put a comfortable, familiar pressure on either side of his hips, his face uncommonly close to yours without the presence of a bed, but he had no intention of moving. He just took the space and owned it, relishing in the slightest hue of red that dusted your cheek, sure to notice it deepen as he raised your chin between his finger and thumb, guiding you to lift your face.
“This will be cold,” was all the warning he gave before trickling the water down your neck.
You hissed and jerked back, likely from the cold or the sting of the freshwater on your salted wounds. “Shit, Chishiya.”
He simply chuckled inwardly, lips hitched in a humoured smirk as he rinsed your skin. He let the little stream of water run across your throat, taking his time to work towards your other ear. His touch on your chin remained delicate as a doctor’s touch, directing you to look the other way for his ease.
This intimacy, he pondered. So rare in the home world. It was one thing to be a physician in a hospital, and another to use basic, opportunistic materials to heal someone who depended on him so wholly. A patient may fight to survive on their own accord, but here, in this game, with you… Everything rode on his word, on his actions. Everything.
A strange magnetism in his chest drew him ever closer to your skin, until his lips soon met the human warmth beneath your ear. It was a slow kiss, tender and deliberate, and he relished in how your body naturally leant into his.
His closed eyes let him hone on the quickened beat of your pulse, the ghost of a thrum against his lips. Your blood pumped the cortisol of your anxiety through the roof, and he remembered his mission to bring it back down, to calm you. He clung to this as a reason to retract from you. If this reaction was from his unsolicited affection, he should know better than to drive your adrenaline too high.
“Don’t touch it anymore,” he prescribed, voice level and cool, giving no hint as to how hard it was to lean back from you. “The irritation will lessen and you can focus more.”
“I don’t know what the hell I’m focusing on,” you spat in a whisper, uncommonly callous with your words despite the pink to your cheeks as you watched him close the bottle cap once more. He’d seen you panic before in many a heart’s game, but not like this, not after his sparing affection. This game really was frying your nerves.
“Focus on keeping your head,” he murmured, the slightest snort slipping out after. “In every sense of the word.”
“Shut the fuck up, Chishiya.”
It was endlessly amusing to see you like this. The fire that came from your lips right now had never been rivalled before, and any regret he’d had at choosing a Heart’s game for you quickly dissipated. Fascinating to see you lose your mind.
But, he couldn’t toy with you too far. He allowed you to hear his chuckle, low and rumbling in his chest, only audible with the proximity he kept. “Sincerely. Focus on staying calm. All you need to do is trust me.”
“Not so easy in a place like this.”
He took the chance to look surprised. This was his opening to seal any of his own concerns about you. “You think I’d feed you the wrong suit?”
He paid careful attention to how you hesitated, watching the thoughts dance their patterns behind your eyes. You were looking at him without seeing him, close enough that he could see his reflection in your irises. Calculations, calculations, ones that you so visibly struggled to work out. Would he dare tell you the wrong suit? Would it be out of choice or pre-emptive, lest you try to end him first, purely because you’d worried?
Moments passed, and the longer it went on, the more his worries tugged at his thoughts. He needed to prove himself to you to save his own skin. Both of your skins.
His hands settled lightly on your lower thighs, set snug on either side of his hips, and he gave a reassuring squeeze. “You don’t need to worry,” he murmured, voice low and soothing as butter on a wound, “We’ll survive this together.”
That endearing little tug between your brows encouraged him on, and he couldn’t help but take your chin in his hold again. To hold that sweet face, so trusting, so impressionable. He watched the hope shine in your features before turning your face the slightest degree, exposing your ear once more, to which he leant in. His breath just tickled your lobe as his nose nudged on your shell, words slow and deliberate. “I know who the Jack is.”
The change in your body language was instant. You jumped back to peer at his face, brows high and eyes wide, no longer slouched and dejected. Your hand gripped at his white jacket, fisted into the fabric to keep him close as you murmured, “Really?”
A slow nod. Relaxed eyes and knowing smirk shone in the searchlight, and he planned his next words carefully. He didn’t want you to know who his suspects were, in case you gave anything away and steered the game from its natural course. “I have two suspects, it’s just down to seeing which fails first.”
The elation in his chest at seeing your relief was disorienting. The way you sighed out with almost a laugh, head thrown back to let it escape you… It was an image he wouldn’t forget for a long time. The serenity of his antidote, saving you from the Jack’s poison.
His brows shot up as you snatched his shoulders into a tight, relieved hold, thighs tight on his waist and arms looped around his neck. Your face pressed into the junction of his shoulder, nestled against his hair. “Thank fuck,” you breathed, edging on tears. “You worked it out? I should’ve known. I should’ve!”
He didn’t say anything, only astounded that you might be so liberal in your affections outside his hotel room. But then, he did bridge that gap first. And there were no regrets. He allowed himself to indulge in it, his own arms finding their home around your waist and his nose in your hair. Of course it was a trick of psychological conditioning, but if he focused just right, he could almost smell the residue of chlorine from the days at the Beach.
He indulged in splaying a hand across your back, rubbing soothing circles over your form. This body… He knew the ins and outs of it. He knew where every mole dotted your skin, he could estimate the length of your lower ribs without flaw. His thumb pressed slow pulses in the flesh between the back of your ribs, imagining that he’d place his stethoscope there.
What a sound he’d hear. Each breath, the source of your survival.
Would it be too arrogant to consider himself such a thing too?

visitor
show: alice in borderland
character: chishiya shuntaro
summary: you visit your idiot brother at the while he's injured and in the process, meet someone new. you caught his eye and now you have another reason to visit so often.
warnings: g/n! reader, they/them pronouns used, spoilers for season 2 episode 8
"you're so dumb!" you call as you walk into the room, a doctor flailing behind you in worry. but you only focus your eyes on your brother, who lays in the bed fully, glancing back with you. an annoyed sigh leaves his lips before he closes his eyes. "i told you i'd pick you up! and then i get a call saying you were already there? and you were in an accident!"
niragi knew you'd be the first to come. the only, actually. but he could never deal with your shouting, especially not when it happened so frequently. it's been a day since the accident, and he has finally woken up.
you put your bag on the floor against the bedside table. "you could stand to listen to me at least once! this is why you're always getting hurt and i'm always the one checking up on you."
you made it sound like a hassle, but the both of you know that no matter what, you would stick by. you made a promise to yourself to make your brother a better person, and niragi vowed to protect you from the bullies in life. you needed each other.
"yeah, yeah, i got it. god, you're so fucking loud." he grumbles back to you, "can't you see i'm in pain?"
you hold your angry gaze before a bit of sadness falls in. you stand at his side, pressing a gentle hand to the bandages on his arm. "you look like shit, suguru." you mutter out under your breath, "the hell were you doing there so early? we were supposed to meet at 2!"
"i got tired of waiting! i was calling you to tell you to hurry the fuck up!" he exclaimed, making you drop your jaw, "how about you answer your phone next time, huh?"
you retract your hand, pointing an accusing finger at your brother. "i told you, moron, i was in a meeting! 2 was the earliest i can do!"
"ah, please... there are other patients in this room..." the doctor says, waving his hand to dismiss the situation, "we don't want to cause a ruckus..."
you look back to the doctor. "sorry, i forgot..." you say in a quieter tone. your eyes gaze upon the two other occupants in the room, both staring right back at you in frozen shock. you give a little bow. "i apologise, i just needed to talk to this... dumbass... but i promise, no more yelling."
"thank fuck."
"suguru."
"it's alright." the furthest one, in the corner near the window, says to you. he has a bandage on his cheek, and grins to you softly.
the one beside your brother, notably taking his eyes off of you and on your brother. "don't worry about it. this guy your boyfrend or something?"
"oh, hell no." you laugh, the doctor then leaving the room, deeming it safe, "he's my older brother."
suguru glares back at the man beside him. "are you stupid?"
in response, he raises his brow at the stranger's words. you widen your eyes and slap your brother's shoulder. "shut up, suguru!" you scoff, turning back to the strangers, "sorry about him, he can't read social cues... my name is y/n."
the black-haired man in the back sits up, throwing his legs off the side of the bed. "i'm arisu. it's nice to meet you." he says.
the blonde speaks up, "chishiya. it's a pleasure."
arisu stands up, holding his back a bit. "i'm going to go get a drink." he states, leaving the room.
chishiya keeps his eye on you. you were obviously so caring of your brother that you would berate him this much. but your tone conveyed an annoyed feeling. your face showed that you were stressed, but relief had washed over you when you realised he was as good as he could be.
"there's a chair here, stop standing there." suguru tells you, nodding to the space in between him and chishiya at the ends of their beds. you walk around, taking the spot, ignoring his ignorant voice.
"the doctors said they wanted to run you through a couple more tests." you say, your voice sounding softer now as you stare at your brother, "they're going to come in soon."
"more tests? fuck, they won't let me go." suguru grumbles, leaning his head back against the pillow. he hated the stares people gave him because of all the bandages on his face. he hated being small in their eyes. "whatever... you staying? or heading out after i leave?"
you think for a moment, tapping your knee, before you respond, "i'll stay. i want to talk to you some more before i leave."
as if on time, the doctor from earlier comes in, holding a clipboard with quite a few papers on it. "mr niragi, we've set up the rooms for testing." he claims, looking at the both of you, "although, there are many. this would take at least an hour."
suguru looks back at you as nurses come in, ready to transport him to the first test. "you still gonna' stay? you'll be lonely, like a loser." you give him a look.
"they won't be lonely." chishiya speaks up, leaning comfortably against the bed. he smiles at your brother, with some teasing hint behind it. "i'll keep them company."
"i already hate you." suguru claims, beginning to move out of the room while he hears your chuckle at chishiya's claim. soon enough, he's gone and the door is closed. just you and chishiya.
you rub the back of your neck with a big sigh, "he's going to be the death of me... i can't help but worry for that guy."
chishiya sits up, leaning away from the bed's support. "he does seem to be a bit of a handful." he says in response, "you have it all together for the both of you, hm?"
you shrug your shoulders, staring back at the guy. it was strange, he didn't look to be injured. "so what happened to you? if you don't mind me asking."
chishiya smiles, placing a hand over his stomach first. "impaled. twice, what are the chances?" he says, "missed any vital organs, so that's a plus."
"you sound weirdly fine with being impaled twice." you say, smiling awkwardly. chishiya shrugs. he grins back at you softly, and you can't help but stare for a few more seconds. he sure was pretty. "so... job?"
"is this a first date?" he raises his brow.
"i would hardly call this place suitable for a first date." you joke, shaking your head, "maybe when you're out of here."
chishiya stops, his brows lifting a little more and his lips parting. you were confident, he could give you that, it was obvious that you and suguru were related. the way you smile at his silence makes his chest squeeze, and he sits up straighter under your heavy gaze.
"i should be released in the next few weeks." chishiya states, tilting his head at you, "and to answer your question, i'm a medical student."
"smart." you say, impressed. chishiya nods his head, asking about your job. "i'm a part of a publishing firm."
"creative." he compliments.
the both of you talk for the hours that your brother is busy doing tests. usually, chishiya wouldn't spend all this time just speaking to a stranger. but you were kind and didn't make him feel uncomfortable in silences. you would fill them with questions or simply just explaining things about you and your brother. chishiya was glad you weren't the nervous type.
you began to come over more in your spare time, dropping off supplies for your brother and talking to him for a while with chishiya in the background listening. sometimes, suguru would be out on his walk or in physical therapy (without telling you so you couldn't follow) and you'd be in the hospital room waiting for his return. but it was okay, chishiya was always there to keep you company. he'd tell you all the things that the doctor's were saying about your brother, what it meant, and most importantly, his progress.
you learnt from what he told you that your brother would be sent home after a month. relief washed over you and you thanked him. chishiya was more than happy to help, especially seeing how glad that made you.
"do you know when you'll be released?" you questioned that same day he informed you of suguru's last day.
chishiya, who sits across from you in the open hospital yard at a coffee table, watches as you stir your drink. it was his idea to leave the room today and get some coffee or tea, feeling stuffy in that room (and quite lonely since his only friend arisu was occupied by some girl he heard named usagi) and you just happened to drop by as he was getting ready to leave, your brother out of sight. so he asked you to come along, enjoying your smile as you accept.
"itching for that first date?" he mutters to you, leaning back in his spot.
you chuckle, "that wasn't the point. you know, after suguru comes home, i won't have a proper reason to visit the hospital anymore. they only allowed family to come see the patients, with how many there are."
you made a good point there. chishiya doesn't think he's seen anybody other than you or arisu's father or brother come around to visit them. and judging by niragi's personality, he was surely stringing some girls behind, no?
"so, yeah, we can go out on a date when you're released. or we can just continue talking casually." you offer him, holding your drink, "i don't mind."
chishiya raises a brow. he's a bit suspicious. why would you be so willing to spend time around him? some sort of game? he hums, "you don't mind? really?"
you shrug your shoulders as you sip from your cup. when you place it down on the table, chishiya eagerly awaits your response. "i really don't. you know, i like spending time with you, chishiya."
he's only known you for a good two weeks. is that long enough to develop feelings?
he's heard stories from people he worked with and around. proposing on their anniversary, chasing them to the airport before they board, dating since they were fifteen. he's even heard of some couples who move in together mere months after dating. he used to think it was all too fast.
but was it okay for someone to fall in love that quickly?
he decides to test the waters, overturning his hand so his palm is presented to the person in front of him. "i like spending time with you too, y/n."
you reply with a simple grin, resting a gentle hand in his. "that's great. then we can hang out more once you're out of here."
"i'll be released next week. thursday, 9 in the morning." he states, confident that your hand was the only thing keeping him warm in the spring weather. you blink at him, making chishiya nervously tilt his head with a grin. "too soon for you?"
you shake your own head and say, "no, it's not that, it's just that you made it sound like i'd have to wait another fortnight for you to be out of the hospital." you squeeze his hand ever so gently. "i'll spare some time."
"did you want to get breakfast with me?" he asks, nearly too fast for his liking.
you mumble, "what day?"
"thursday." chishiya is confident he is coming off too strong. but who was around to tell him off?
you laugh in response, "now it sounds like you're the one who can't wait." he wants to crumble into the ground. "but sure, i can do thursday. have a spot in mind?"
a loud huff interrupts the both of you. suguru, in crutches, lands in the chair beside you as soon as chishiya goes to answer. he's almost like a bad luck charm. your brother is breathing heavily, leaning his crutches against the table as he lets out a hefty sigh.
"god fucking damn it, i hate these things." he tells you, throwing his head back. the nurse helping him before standing a few feet away to give you privacy, but it was obvious that they were trying to get your brother back to his room. "remind me to never break my leg ever again. this fuckin' sucks."
"i would think so." you murmur to him.
that's when his eyes suddenly go down to your hand, linked with chishiya's on the table. and now, he's confused.
"what the fuck is this?" he questions, furrowed brows. he stared stupidly at you two as you noticed your hands and pull away at the same time. his gaze turns to chishiya first. "you gotta' be messing with me. no way you fell for this smart-ass, y/n."
chishiya places a hand over his heart. "you wound me, niragi." he sarcastically says, finishing off his drink as he stands up, "i'll let the two of you talk. if you need me, i'll be in the room."
he doesn't get very far before you call his name again. chishiya turns around, watching you scribbling something on the spare napkin you brought took you with the pen the nurse so kindly provided. he can already guess what it is, and now he's even more sure this isn't real. nobody would actually write their phone number on a napkin, right?
"feel free to text or call me whenever." you say, handing it to him. and sure enough, it's the digits to your cell. accompanied by your name and a smiley face, as if he was one to received many numbers from pretty strangers such as yourself. "i'll see you before i leave."
chishiya pockets the napkin securely in his pocket, holding his hand there for safe keeping. "i'll keep an eye out. see you, y/n."
"bye, chishiya." you respond, watching as he walks back towards the main building.
suguru is going to throw up, is what chishiya hears him say. you two speak loudly that he can still catch what you are talking about.
"why him of all people? i woulda' accepted even arisu over that guy." suguru scowls, making you roll your eyes.
you mumble back, shaking your head, "don't be mean, you barely talk to him."
"that's a fucking lie, he belittles me when you're not around." he points out, glaring holes in the back of chishiya's head. he can feel them.
"well then, soon you'll only have to see him when i'm around." you claim, holding your chin in your hand as you smile to yourself, "so no problem."
suguru gets one look at you and sees that you're being dead serious. he groans, eyes up to the sky, "what do you see in a guy like him?"
you trace the rim of your mug. "i like him a lot. he's smart."
chishiya is out of earshot as soon as that's said, and he's almost glad. he doesn't want to walk around the hospital with some dumb smile on his face.

reunion - s.chishiya
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"anyway, don't be a stranger" - scott street, phoebe bridgers.
_____
"promise me you'll remember me?" he asked for the 50th time what evening.
"i promise" you said weakly. you had been stabbed 3 times by nirgai in the event before. chishiya had been so worried, and done everything he could to bandage your wound and minimise your pain.
suddenly, you and chishiya saw fireworks in the distance, and he pulled you into a kiss. you could feel your tears streaming down your face as you kissed him back gently, holding eachother, you two being the perfect example of pure love, before everything went black.
______
light shone through the window of the hospital room and reflected onto your face. you woke up, disoriented, a sharp pain in your stomach and leg. you looked down to see a bandage tied around your waist and one tied around your leg, but you couldn't move to remove the blanket properly. you groaned slightly, the pain finally catching up to you. you heard a slight noise come from the door beside you and you watched a nurse come in while looking at her clipboard, glance up at you and gasp.
she quickly ran out of the room and a doctor came in, looking shocked aswell. he checked all the normal things such as heart rate, and considered your state stable. you heard him murmuring to the other nurses, something about preventing an infection, before turning back to you.
"your boyfriend's really in love with you, you know that? he's been asking about you every hour for days in case you woke up, and begged me to let him see you, even while sleeping" he chuckled, while you looked at him confused.
boyfriend?
this was when you felt another figure enter the room.
in came a blonde long-haired boy with crutches, and once he entered the room he processed your awake state, before going as fast as his crutches would take him towards you, enveloping you in a tight hug. you could feel his tears fall on your shirt, and were slightly confused. you had no idea who this stranger was, or what he was doing at your hospital bed.
"i'm so happy you are awake" he sobs, before hugging you tighter.
"I thought- i didn't- i had no idea if you were going to wake up. you were unconcious when the fireworks were up and i didn't know if you would make i-" he rambled.
"i'm sorry, i don't think you have the right person" you explained calmly.
"what..." he pulled back, processing what you face looked like and making sure that it was actually you before slowly backing away from you.
"im really sorry but I don't think that you have the right person" you repeated.
he took a step back, looking as if he was slapped, before the floods of tears came back, much stronger than before.
"but...the fireworks...you promised" he sobbed, disregarding the stares of the doctor.
"fireworks? ive never seen any in my life, im really sorry" you say gently, careful not to hurt him any more.
"if this is a joke, it really isn't funny" he stares at you, praying for any sign of lying, silently begging for you to laugh so beautifully as you had so many times before and tell him that it was a joke and that you would never forget him, yet it never comes.
the doctor stares at you in complete sadness. he had heard all the comments chishiya would say about you once he woke up, such as "she would love this" when he saw a teddy bear holding a heart, and randomly saying facts about you to him roommate, such as "shes so pretty, i can't wait to see her again", and the arguments and anger he showed towards him for not letting him see her sooner because of him injuries.
after you show no sign of realisation, and just pity, he steps back again in shock, realising that you didn't remember. but you promised? you had never broken a promise in your life.
love was a weakness. that's what he told himself before he met you, and during while in denial of his feelings. but you changed him. you made him happier. you practically made him remember how to be happy. so why can't he do the same for you?
what about all the months you spent together? when you taught him how to love? when you cuddled him at night and made him feel warm inside? when you baked a cake together and burnt it? when you gave eachother loving kisses every day? when you spent your evenings together on the rooftop, discussing your future together? what about the cat you promised to have? what about the dates he promised to take you on? what about the gentle love that you two shared for eachother?
and that's when he realised that you'll never be able to do those things together.
and oh how it hurt.
he embraced you again, desperate.
"please baby, you have to remember me. chishiya, remember? you used to call me shun to annoy me, but I always secretly liked it" he sobs.
"please remember. you promised me" he sobs harder, unable to control the overwhelming feelings that he was expressing.
the small shake of your head was enough.
he stumbled out of your room, dazed. he returned to his own. pulled the curtain back so that niragi couldn't see him, and he sobbed.
oh how he sobbed.
he couldn't stop, no matter how many doctors came by. he knew he couldn't come back from this.
as nightfall came, he finally fell asleep. many hours later, he woke back up, only to he greeted with the moonlight shining through the window. he stood up with red, puffy eyes and stumbled over to the window, only to find that it was a full moon.
you always loved the full moon.
__________
"look! shun, it's the moon! isn't it beautiful today?" you stared in admiration at the moon that you loved so much from the perfect view of the rooftop.
"yeah, it's beautiful" he says back. but he wasn't looking at the moon. he was looking at you, his eyes filled with love and admiration as his mouth smiled at your happy expression.
_________
how he wished he could go back to that moment.
he lied back down on the bed, covered himself with the duvet, and sobbed into the pillow, muffling his cries.
he held the teddy with a heart he bought you in his hand, cuddling it as he pretended it was you. you always knew how to comfort him in these situations.
he traced his pocket, the outline of a small box inside it, containing the small yet glamorous ring that he was planning to give to you once you woke up.

You Changed Me
Summary: While patching you up, Chishiya confesses something to you.
(The reader is gender-neutral. The race/ethnicity is preferably black/person of color.)
*I am not a medical professional so I don't know if any of this is accurate*
Tumblr media
"Hold still," Chishiya told you as he continued to dab the scratch marks with more antiseptic, concentrating on not pressing too hard on you.
"Sorry," you hissed, trying not to feel too flustered at having him so focused on your body even if it was just to patch you up.
Lifting your head up from the bed, you couldn't help but notice the close attention he gave to your wounds. You had seen him focused before when it came to tampering with a tricked-out device of his or a new plan that he had schemed up and wouldn't give you the full details, only the parts involving you. This type of focus he currently had was quite different. He's in his doctor mode, you realized. Right now, you weren't (Y/N), one of the few people he expressed slight concern and affection for. Right now, you were just a patient who needed his professional skills.
"Okay," he began, throwing the now blood-filled cotton ball away in the trash, before getting up and heading to the bathroom. You heard the cabinet open and close before you saw him walk back over to you on the bed, and felt him sitting down on the edge with a needle and thread in one hand, and a box of gauze pads in the other. "I need to stitch you and then dress your wounds."
The sight of the needle and thread made you gulp nervously, but not wanting to seem weak in front of him, you took a deep breath before nodding your head to him.
As he lowered himself to your side, you looked up to the ceiling of the room and tried to ignore the painful sting of the needle entering your skin and the thread following behind.
"Hey Chishi," you said, knowing the nickname irritated him, but not currently caring.
"Yeah," he replied back, his voice the usual devoid of emotions.
"Were you a good doctor," you asked him, feeling curious. He never gave that much details about his life before the Borderlands, besides the fact that he came from a rich family and that he was a doctor.
"Yes, I was," he answered.
The way he answered was full of assurance, leaving no room for doubt, and hearing it made you smile.
"What type of doctor were you? Like general, or surgeon, pediatrician, psychiatrist...?"
"Heart surgeon."
Heart surgeon, you repeated in your mind. The thought of him being a doctor was still a strange thing you couldn't quite grasp, but you were still impressed at the amount of knowledge he secretly had.
"Hmm," you hummed aloud without thinking.
"What?"
"Nothing it's just-," you suddenly hissed at the feel of the needle piercing you sharper than before and you glanced down to see Chishiya was already looking up at you apologetically. "Do you think me and you would have been friends before all of this?" you asked him, slightly twitching at the uncomfortable feeling of the thread moving through your skin.
"Probably not," he answered a little too quickly for your taste and you quickly looked down at him to see the dark roots of his scalp as he continued to stitch.
"Why not?" you didn't mean to show the offense in your voice, but you had thought you and Chishiya were making progress with each other.
"You wouldn't have liked me before this," he answered. "The only reason we are together is because of this place."
He was silent for quite a while, and for a second, you thought that maybe he just simply ignored you, but doing a quick glance down, you saw that while he was still lowered over your stomach, needle and thread in his hand, his demeanor and aura had somewhat changed.
"Do you really think we wouldn't have been friends before this?"
With a tired sigh, he replied, "I know we wouldn't, (Y/N)."
"Why wouldn't I have liked you before, Chishiya? If I like you now, I definitely would have before."
Letting out another hiss, you watched as he finished up stitching your side, then took out a small pair of scissors that you had no idea where came from, and used them to cut the remaining thread.
"I have changed here."
Changed? Is he serious? "Chishi, we all have changed here. This place does that to you-"
"I wouldn't have cared about you before," he interrupted you. "Not you, Kuina, Arisu, or anyone else. I didn't really care much about my patients, either."
The confession made you become quiet for a second. It was something you were glad to hear come out of his mouth as it meant that he trusted you just as much as you trusted him, trusted you enough to confess something personal like that, but still...How could you not care about the patients you saw, worked on?
As if reading your mind, he answered you, "They were just people my job required me to help, just like you all were nothing but pawns to me."
Even though it was the honest truth and something you and the others had already known, you still couldn't help but feel a little hurt by it. Despite how close you two had become, it was still a bit of a struggle to not get sometimes offended by his apathetic voice coupled with harsh truths.
"Well, what changed?" You asked, using your elbows to try sitting up, but he quickly placed a hand gently on your shoulder and nudged you back down, flat on the bed.
"You're not ready to get up yet. Just relax and let me know if you need anymore medicine."
You nodded your head, before giving him a silent look, urging him to answer your question.
"You know what changed," he answered.
The answer was true, but you wanted to hear it straight from his mouth. "No, I don't. What changed, Chishi?"
Even though some strands of his hair covered his face, you could still see a slight blush appearing on his face and couldn't keep the grin from growing on yours.
Letting out a sigh at what you were trying to do, he tried to ignore the growing hotness in his face and answer you as honestly as he could. "Kuina...Arisu...and you. You changed me."
I sure did, you thought proudly, watching as he got up from the bed, gathering the needle, leftover thread, and other times in his arms before going back to the bathroom.

A Cure For Writer's Block #2 _______________
You sat uncomfortably on the cold chair in your Gynecologist's office. You had been having certain problems lately. No matter what you did you couldn’t make yourself cum. No matter what you did. No matter what toys you used. Your clit was always throbbing, hoping for release. It was almost painful. So you came here. Nervously tapping your foot. Waiting for your name to be called.
“Y/n, please follow me”, a nurse in pokemon scrubs called out your name. You stood up, following behind the woman. Allowing her to guide her through the facility. She opened a room door for you and you headed inside.
She closed the door behind you, turning towards you with a bright smile on her face. “Hi y/n, I’ll be starting you off today. We’ll start with the basics, just blood pressure, height, and weight. then you can change into the nightgown over there on the table” She instructed.
You nodded and tried to ignore the uncomfortable aching in between your legs as she did her job. When she was done she smiled at you again. Nodding over to the gown she had hinted at before, “Go on and put one of those on. The doctor will be with you shortly Y/n” she instructed. You nodded as she left you on your own in the room.
You shivered from the coldness of the room as you pulled down your flared jeans. You pulled your shirt over your head. Unclipping your bra and pulling off your underwear as well. You folded all of your garments neatly before shuffling the gown over yourself. Moving to sit back onto the chair as you had been instructed to.
You waited there for a few minutes before someone entered the room. You were expected to meet with Kuina. She was not only your Gynecologist but a very good friend. But as you looked up, you did not see Kuina’s face.
Instead, you saw blonde hair, brown eyes, and an unbelievably smug smirk. Chishiya Shuntaro. Kuina’s smart and unbelievably hot doctor friend. Who you can’t even have a conversation with without stuttering.
You sat, up staring up at him confusedly. “Chishiya hi, w-where’s Kuina,” You asked.
He stared back at you, “Oh Kuina is busy with Ann today. She asked me to cover her patients today” he said.
You flushed nervously. How were you going to survive with Chishiya looking at you like this? This was for sure going to be the death of you. If Kuina skipped out of work today just to fuck Ann, you were definitely going to kill her.
“Place your legs on the stirrups for me Y/n,”he said, the way he said your name making you silver.
You did as he said nervously allowing him to see you. His eyes stayed on yours to entire time as he came to sit in front of you.
“Before we start attacking the real problem, Im going to examen your breasts really quickly to see if a mammogram is in order.”He told you. You nodded as he stood up from his seat. He stood up to you. Reachin' for your gown to pull it up and over your chest so you were exposed to him. You tried to calm your breathing down as he began pressing down against your boobs.
He barely did anything to you. But you felt the aching twitch of your clit harshen as he did it. Noticing the hitch in your breath his hands retracted. “All good up here, now. Tell me why you’re here” He asked, returning back to his seat.
“Um . .” You started, staring at the ground.
He smirked at you, “Don’t be embarrassed, the old lady I just finished up with got a certain something stuck up there” He whispered.
You laughed a little feeling yourself relax. You took a deep breath, “Don’t laugh at me” You asked.
He put his hands up defensively, “I won’t, I won’t”.
“It won’t stop throbbing” You whispered.
If he wasn’t trying hard enough he would have never heard you, “You might need to be a little bit more specific y/n” He said.
“My clit, it’s been throbbing constantly, it almost hurts” You exclaimed, still looking the other way from you. He eyes you, thinking about what you had told him.
“Have you had any sexual partners that you’ve been with recently?”He asked, head leaning onto his hands.
You laughed at the thought, you couldn’t even imagine being with anyone who wasn’t him anymore. “Been in a bit of a dry spell for a while now” you answered him.
“Have you been masturbating regularly” He questioned.
“Yes, I’ve been doing it constantly. But nothing makes me, you know. . . “You looked away from his piercing eyes.
“Cum”, he said finishing your sentence. You nodded.
“What do you use” He questioned
“What?,” you asked.
“To masturbate I mean” He clarified.
You blushed, “Oh um, m-my fingers, the occasional dildo or vibrator” You explained. He hummed, raising his hands on your gown, tugging it upwards. Your legs shivered as the air blew over your throbbing clit.
“Show me,” He said. His words took a second to process before you stared at him wide-eyed. “W-what”you stuttered
“I need you to show me how you masturbate. I think I have a theory,” He said, sitting back in his chair.
You tried to ignore how the throbbing got even worse at his words, sliding a hand down your stomach. Legs twitching as your hand met the hood of your oversensitive clit. You made hasty circles around your clit. They made you shiver, and the oversensitivity of your clit was driving you crazy. But the more you circled the more you could feel the pleasure drowning away for a reason you could not determine. Now somewhat less embarrassed, you reached your other hand down to circle your entrance, thankfully adding more simulation. You added a finger into yourself. Plunging it back and forth. You let a moan slip past your lips as the pleasure was upped again.
But yet again, you felt the pleasure being whipped away from you. You let out a frustrated groan. “Stop”, Chishiya commanded.
Reluctantly you drew your hands away to focus on Chishiya below you. Suddenly blushing again at the memory of him in the room.
“I think I see the problem”, he started. He scooted closer to you bringing his fingers up to your pussy. “When you masturbate, what your doing is rubbing your clit over the hood. Direct stimulation is far better,” he explained. You nodded. “Try it” he instructed.
Your hand reached down again and placed it directly against the clit. But he stopped you, “No Y/n, let me show you,” He said. Your eyes widened as his finger went down to circle your clit. But god was it beautiful. Your back arched into his hand the second he pressed into you. And when he started circling. God, you lost it. He was barely moving and you could feel your legs shaking.
Much to your displeasure his hand left you. “That felt better didn’t it” He asked. You nodded, feeling the wetness of yourself dripping down your pussy.
“Another thing, when you're penetrating yourself. Don’t just stuff your fingers inside of your self he said”. He took his ring finger to your entrance and circled it like you did. Watching you intently as you gasped. Slowly pushing in, watching your mouth fall open and your eyes fluttered close.
You felt him scrape your front walls. Almost as if he was looking for something. He started curling his fingers inside of you, dragging them in and out of your hole. “Is it good when I touch you here?” He said, before you could answer he switched where his finger placement, making you moan. “Or maybe here” he supposed. When he scraped that area again you let out a loud moan, legs quivering once again. “Oh then, this is the spot that you want to reach over” He explained.
He continued to finger you, watching your face contort in pleasure. “That feels good doesn’t it,” He asked, a smug smirk still on his face. You nodded, feeling a whimper come from your throat.
You hadn’t felt this good in a while. Your own fingers never worked magic like this. The most you got out of yourself was a little spirt of juices. But god Chishiya was getting so much more out of you. The man had done so little to you, yet your legs were struggling to stay still as they shook uncontrollably. You felt yourself creaming around his log fingers already. Trying not to embarrass yourself more by squirting. Not that the string of whimpers you were letting out were any less embarrassing.
You felt one of Chishiya’s hands come to circle directly on your clit again and you swear your vision blacked out from how hard you came. Your pussy absolutely drenched Chishiya’s fingers as your legs quivered uncontrollably. You let out a string of moans as Chishiya worked you through it. As he slowed down your eyes fluttered open slightly to see him pull out, licking your juices on his fingers.
It was only after he made a show of licking them that you realized what just happened. You just came, on your super hot Gynecologist’s fingers, and all over the floor apparently. Eyes widening and cheeks flushing in embarrassment you stood up, covering yourself up.
“Oh Chishiya I’m so sorry, I, I um don’t know why I did that. It was just, your fingers are just wow” you rambled. You were ready to continue your profuse apologizing but Chishiya came up to you. Grasping your chin to make you face him. He leaned down and pecked your lips, leaving you wide-eyed and even more flushed than before.
“The next time you have this problem, call me. And then maybe I could help you out without my gloves on”. He said, turning around and leaving you in the room. Still twitching, unsteady on your legs, with a dopey smile on your face.

#RECORD STORE+!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alice in Borderland characters meeting you for the first time in a record store and both of you share the same taste (headcanons)
Tumblr media
# — ARISU!
⇢ You noticed him choosing up a record from one of your favorite bands.
⇢ Probably isnt a famous band that everyone knows
⇢ When you called his attention, he became extremely nervous and couldn't form a coherent sentence.
⇢ He was overjoyed to see someone who appreciates the music he likes.
⇢ You told him how you discovered about the band.
⇢ He'd say it was Karube who introduced him, and then be mixed up since you have no idea who he is.
⇢ Likely would overshare that he plays his games while listening to the band music.
⇢ He would listen to you with a shy smile on his face
⇢ After a few minutes, you would split up to better explore the store.
⇢ Would cross paths on the way to the cash register and smile at each other.
⇢ He would ask the seller to give you a note that was handwritten by him.
⇢ “Hi, my name is Arisu, and I really enjoyed talking to you. Please give me a call at (xx) xxxx-xxxx (sorry I didn't know how to ask for your number)”
Tumblr media
# — USAGI!
⇢ You caught her looking at one of your favorite albums, and she noticed.
⇢ She became concerned because she assumed you were familiar with her from her father's newspapers.
⇢ She relaxed and walked over to you as you smiled and pointed to the vinyl in her hand.
⇢ "This is her best album in my opinion! What’s yours?”
⇢ She confessed that she didn't have many friends with whom to discuss her musical tastes.
⇢ You two would walk throughout the store while conversing over the music.
⇢ When she realizes she may be talking too much, she blushes, but you can get her to talk again by asking what other artists she enjoys.
⇢ You’l probably lie and say you don't know who those artists are just to see her smile as she talks.
⇢ As you wait in line to pay, she lets you pass in front of her.
⇢ Together, you exit the store and follow one another down the sidewalk.
Tumblr media
# — CHISHIYA!
⇢ He is so silent and unnoticeable that it is likely you were unaware of his presence.
⇢ He would have likely caught your attention while you were holding a record and searching for a particular album.
⇢ “You should probably buy the deluxe version of this record, I suggest.“
⇢ It'd get annoying because you'd know precisely why you're purchasing it, but you'd recognize that he doesn't.
⇢ You would answer in a passive aggressive tone that you are a collector, and he would be intrigued since you are one of the first people he has met who likes the unknown band.
⇢ You likely believe he didn't hear you and just doesn't have anything to do with you.
⇢ But he reacts by telling you his thoughts on the differences between the two editions of the albums and how satisfied he is that someone else gets to share having a good tastes.
⇢ Your conversation would be short and simple, and you would soon part ways.
⇢ You'd go to the register later and find out that he'd paid for your products (after all, he is a doctor and has a lot of money)
⇢ Plus, two weeks later, you'd cross paths on a busy street and look at each other.
Tumblr media
# — ANN!
⇢ As soon as you enter the store, you'd be aware of this woman's presence.
⇢ You want to avoid showing up at the same session as her since she is so reserved and confident, but it's impossible because the vinyl you want is already there.
⇢ You would pick it up to look at another record by a musician you like only then to quickly realize that the item you were looking for was not there.
⇢ "You should take this one, just so you know, the cover on this one is damaged and scratched."
⇢ You would grab the item out of her hands and then explain that you already owned it and were seeking for another record by the performer to add to your collection.
⇢ She'd probably just say she collects as well, and you'd try to ask what her favorite songs are.
⇢ She would be closed off with precise and brief responses, never looking into your eyes and always focused on something else.
⇢ But when you happen to stumble over words, she would listen to you carefully and smile.
⇢ You would part ways without swapping names or any other information.
⇢ However, you'd meet again the very next week at the same store, and she'd hand you the vinyl you're seeking for.
Tumblr media
# — KUINA!
⇢ Her familiarity with the location of the albums and others products comes from her regular visits to the business.
⇢ As a result, she helps you in searching for vinyl when you are having trouble finding a particular piece.
⇢ She became excited when she realized that it was the record of her favorite singer and she began talking to you.
⇢ She most likely talks a lot, and all you do is smile and nod in agreement.
⇢ However, if you spoke, she would listen attentively.
⇢ With your arms crossed, the two of you would circle the shop as she pointed out what was located where and which employees she personally prefer.
⇢ Because she asked, you likely would list the singer's top albums.
⇢ If you had a differing view, she would be horrified, but she would also laugh with you about it.
⇢ Surely, this girl will flirt to you.
⇢ She would most likely kindly ask your phone number in order to talk about the singer and your thoughts.
⇢ When you pick up the purchase and pay, she would request a special discount for you.
⇢ Message: Hello there, its Kuina from the store, are u free for a coffee tomorrow?
Tumblr media
# — NIRAGI!
⇢ He likely became aware of your presence as you approached a vinyl display of the singer he enjoys that was displayed on the wall.
⇢ As soon as you picked up the album, he would laugh sarcastically.
⇢ "I don't think you're bright enough to understand a singer like him"
⇢ His rude statements to someone he has never met in person and his tone of voice would undoubtedly annoy you.
⇢ He would approach you only to pick up another Vinyl record and declare that it was greater, but you could never hear any of it.
⇢ You would become angry and start yelling at him about which Disc was the best and how you had the same interest in music.
⇢ Most likely, you two would be the center of attention for all of the other customers in the shop.
⇢ Within a few minutes, there would already be a lot of noise, and employees would be debating whether it was best to disrupt or ignore.
⇢ He would pause his speech to look at you coldly before smiling sarcastically and walking away.
⇢ And you would become even furious.
⇢ Weeks later, you would most likely meet up at another business.
⇢ "Look if it's not the one who has no taste for anything"

Tumblr media
“y/n?” you perk up at the familiar voice, quick to leave your conversation with ann and mira.
“chishiya!” he stands with his hands stuffed into the pockets of a white jacket. he’s wearing a pair of swim trunks and sandals. you can barely see his wristband from where the sleeve of his jacket ends. “i can never get rid of you, can i?” you tease.
“i suppose not.” chishiya leans back against the wall, a little uncomfortable at the stares of the other beach members in the room.
sensing his discomfort, you glance over your shoulder at them. “ah, i should give you a tour. have you picked a room yet?”
“i was hoping you could help with that.”
you tug chishiya along with you, guiding him through the different areas of the beach.
Tumblr media
your shoulders brush against each other as you sit by the pool, dunking your legs in the cold water. “how long have you been here?” you ask.
“just a few days,” chishiya replies. “i’m still not entirely sure what’s going on.”
you glance behind you over your shoulder, dropping your voice to a whisper. “you know about the visas and the cards?” he nods, subtly leaning in a little closer. “hatter thinks we’ll be able to send someone back to the normal world once we collect all of the cards.”
“you don’t think so?”
you sigh. “i’m not sure. we only have a few cards right now, but something tells me it won’t be that easy.” despite the pool being completely empty, you lean in even closer to chishiya to whisper in his ear. “i don’t think we can trust the people here.” chishiya shivers. your breath is warm against his neck. he can feel his ears burn slightly when you pull away.
an unfamiliar feeling settles itself in his stomach. fear? dread? anxiety? you kick small ripplies into the water, slowly reaching over to hold his hand. despite all of the unknowns he’s sure you’ll be forced to confront, chishiya finds comfort in the feeling of your hand in his.
Tumblr media
chishiya paces along the outside of the beach, continuously looking out at the horizon. “waiting for someone?” kuina asks, leaning back against the wall of the hotel. chishiya sighs, knowing her question is rhetorical.
“y/n’s not back yet.”
kuina pushes off of the wall, suddenly serious. “they’re not?” he shakes his head, looking out into the darkness again. “well, do you know who they were with during their last game? maybe someone knows something.”
“i haven’t seen anyone since i came back.”
“what about the other executives? have you told them?” chishiya doesn’t answer. “there has to be something we can do, right? what about-”
“hey!” in the distance they can barely see a man struggling to pull someone towards the beach. “help me! i need help!”
kuina is quick to react, rushing over to the man. chishiya watches her as she runs to meet him, gasping. “chishiya!” she yells. “it’s y/n!”
he can almost feel the blood in his body go cold. kuina shoves herself underneath your other arm, helping the man pull you to the beach. it feels like the world has stopped - everything frozen at this moment in time.
after what feels like forever chishiya manages to will his body to move, rushing to you. blood coats your side and jacket, seeping through your shirt. he presses a hand against your wound, supporting your weight.
“what happened?” he hopes his voice isn’t shaking.
“they had crossbows,” the man pants. “i had to pull it out but i think it went straight through. i didn’t know what else to do.”
“chishiya,” you whimper, clutching his body.
“it’s okay,” he whispers. “it’s gonna be okay.”
you grunt as he wraps an arm around your waist, lifting your body into his arms. you cling to his body, letting him carry you into the beach’s basement. he gently sets you on a metal table before frantically searching through the room for medical supplies. kuina leans over you, pressing a towel against your side. you wince at the pressure, tears stinging your eyes.
“sorry,” she whispers. “i’m sorry.”
chishiya takes over for her soon after, moving the towel to the side. “this is gonna hurt,” he warns. you grab his hand, squeezing it.
“i trust you.”
the pain is sharp and sudden. it feels like someone is pressing on your chest, preventing any air from entering your lungs. the ceiling above you blurs into a mix of blue lighting and gray metal before it all goes black and the world disappears.
Tumblr media
the pain has subsided greatly when you wake up. your vision is blurry as you blink a few times, trying to clear your vision. sunlight shines through open curtains, illuminating the hotel room you lay in. it’s clean - cleaner than your room. the sheets feel nice against your skin.
you grunt, forcing yourself to sit up. your body aches as you lean back against the headboard. the door opens quietly before it closes. a man sighs before he enters. “chishiya?” your voice is raspy when you try to speak. your throat stings.
“y/n,” chishiya rushes to your side, opening a bottle of water and handing it to you. you gulp it down quickly, desperate for any liquid. “how are you feeling?”
“sore.”
chishiya takes the empty bottle, sitting down next to you. he reaches out to grab your hand, running his thumb along your knuckles. his voice is quiet when he speaks again. “you really scared me, you know.”
“about me dying? come on, you can’t get rid of me that easily.” you squeeze his hand. “chishiya,” you whisper. he looks down at you. “i’m okay. you saved me.”
“i know, i just…” he sighs, staring back down at your hands. you intertwine your fingers together, a silent way of encouraging him to continue. “i can’t lose you. you were back late, and then when you make it here you were hurt. and then you passed out and…” chishiya takes a deep breath, tension from his shoulders relaxing a little. “i don’t want to see you hurt. i love you.”
“‘shiya,” you bring a hand up to his face, wiping away a stray tear he hadn’t realized had fallen. you lift his chin, forcing him to look at you. “i know everything will be okay as long as i have you. i love you too.”
chishiya gives you a small smile, pulling your hand up to press a kiss against your knuckles. “don’t ever do this to me again.”
you chuckle. “i won’t. i promise.”
Tumblr media
you pull the chair out between chishiya and niragi, taking your seat at the executives table. arisu stands uncomfortably at the other side of the room, watching you. chishiya raises his hand, waving at him. you playfully elbow his side. “he’s nervous, leave him alone.”
“i’m just waving,” he retorts.
“you looked just like him when you got here,” you tease. “give him a break.”
mira, ann, and kuzuryu sit across from you. on your right, next to niragi, aguni sits at the edge, right next to hatter.
“we are here to discuss the potential promotion of our very own, arisu!” hatter enthusiastically introduces, pointing over at the man. arisu shifts uncomfortably at the attention.
niragi scoffs. “are we really trusting him to be an executive?”
“we’re trusting you to be an executive.” niragi glares at you, reaching for his rifle before ann interrupts.
“he was able to win a seven of hearts. we haven’t seen that card before.”
“it’s a seven of hearts,” mira exaggerates. “if arisu was able to win the game, then, we should be able to send someone back to the normal world soon.”
“she’s right,” kuzuryu says, leaning back in his chair. “heart games are the most difficult.”
“i vote for promoting him.” you say. under the table, chishiya reaches over to grab your hand. “he won a heart game we’ve never seen before. people have been promoted for less.”
“why don’t we test him? send him into a game with an executive and see how he operates under the pressure.” ann suggests. hatter points at her, tutting.
“now that’s a good idea. any objections?” after a few seconds of silence, hatter stands. “perfect! this meeting has been concluded.”
chishiya’s hand remains in yours as you leave the room, slinking through the various corridors of the hotel you’ve found to a private area. “what are you thinking about arisu?” he asks.
“he won a heart game and you said he was good in tag. he could be a useful ally.” he hums in agreement.
Tumblr media
the fire burns around you as you re-enter the remains of the hotel you used to call your home. a man stands in the center of what used to be the lobby, hands stuffed in his pockets.
“chishiya?” you call, avoiding the heat as you step closer. he glances over his shoulder at you, picking something up off of the table. you lean over to see what he’s holding. it’s a card. the ten of hearts.
“you were right, you know,” he says, throwing the card back onto the table. he smiles when you cock your head at him in confusion. “when i first arrived, one of the first things you said to me was that i shouldn’t trust the people here. you were right.” chishiya steps closer, intertwining his hands with yours. “i’m starting to think collecting the cards was pointless after all.”
the flames around you only grow stronger. “as much as i’d like to bask in your praise, we really need to leave,” you say, reaching over to grab his arm. “let’s go. kuina’s waiting.” he hums, pressing a kiss against your temple as he follows you out.

Hi, I love your writing and was wondering if you could do a chishiya x freader where reader takes a long time to come back from a game so chishiya assumes she is dead. They aren’t together but somehow chishiya has managed to open up to them and is starting to have a better understanding of emotions. So when he thinks readers dead (the only person he tells his feelings and past) he has a break down. Then reader comes back to find him a mess. When she asks why he explains how he wants to learn about emotions and feeling because reader opened him up to the idea. He basically ends up confessing and they end up together. Maybe even drunk sad chishiya idk 🤷🏻‍♀️.
yes i can! thank you for requesting. i tried a different format with this so let me know if it's confusing. flashbacks are in italics
"You seem like a doctor", you said with a smile. Chishiya's brows rose. Was it obvious?
"Why do you say that?", he tried to act like you hadn't read him but you had. And after almost drowning, Chishiya didn't have a lot of energy to keep up his nonchalant facade. Especially not since you had rescued him, given him first aid, dry clothes and a warm meal.
"You seem... Serious. But not in a moody way. Like someone who's been... desensitized. You're very clinical. About all of this, the games. The way the world works. Your eyes are a little sad. Like you've seen so much", you said, sitting opposite to him and handing him a water bottle with a smile that made him feel funny. He remembered asking himself if these games were a ploy of God. But if they were, maybe God put some angels hidden around. Like in a spades game inside a pool filled with traps.
"But that could be anyone", he took the water bottle, nodding his head slightly as a way to thank you.
"Yeah. But anyone wouldn't be as smart. And they wouldn't know how to fix the excuse of a patching up I did in themselves like a pro, like you did", you pointed to his forearm, now properly bandaged up. Neither too loose or too tight, the bandages tucked in nicely. "So, doctor, what's your name?", you smiled, offering him what was left of your food.
One hour. It's been one hour since the games were over and there were no sign of you anywhere. With so many people, he thought he may have missed you. But it wasn't like him to not be able to spot you. Not when he couldn't take his eyes off of you at any given point when you weren't inside a game.
He was sitting seemingly patiently but he had started to twist his hands inside the pockets of his hoodie. His mind was going haywire, going through the stages of grief over and over and over again, interluded with pep talks about how you were smart. You were strong, you could do it. But could you? And then it would start over again.
Another half an hour went by before Chishiya stood up.
"Sitting around just won't do", and then he started walking.
"I think I've seen the worst of the world", Chishiya said, quietly, like he was telling you a secret. In a way, it was. He hadn't told anyone about it, after all. "Here, back in the real world... It's all the same, isn't it? There's no justice, is there?". He seemed so vulnerable, looking down at his lap.
"What happened in that game wasn't your fault. It was a hearts game. You just played the hand you were dealt with", you said, laying a comforting hand on his shoulder, squeezing to bring him out of his stupor, to let him know you were there for him.
"Yes but... How can we decide? How can anyone decide the cost of a life? Who's worth it and who's not?", he said, looking over at you.
"We can't. No one is more important than the other person, but we are all important", you said. You looked over at him, looking every bit like an angel in that white hoodie. "In normal circumstances. But these aren't. You need to stay alive, understand? You have to live", you said. What you didn't say was the "I can't loose you" that felt lodged in your throat, the words seemingly floating in the air around you too like smoke. It was there, you both knew it, but it wasn't tangible.
"I will live. I will", Chishiya was in a similar situation to yours. He didn't say the "You won't loose me. Ever. Even if I die" that was wrapping around his throat, wanting to force him to confess. "I will come back to real world", he said, determined. He didn't add the "With you" at the end like he wanted to, either.
Chishiya didn't mean to get drunk, honestly. He just thought it was a good idea to not be so tense waiting for you, and specially when you returned. Because you WOULD return.
So he decided to drink a bit. He didn't want his nervousness to take the best of him and make him lash out at you because he's so worried. He could picture perfectly the way your brows would crease, your eyes widening, your lips pouting... You were so beautiful.
But as time progressed and you didn't show up, this was a good enough way to keep occupied. Back at the real world, Chishiya wouldn't indulge in things like that. Not even in the Borderlands, really. But you did something to him. Him drinking to try and numb himself of the intrusive thoughts caused by the anxiety of not having you close for longer than expected made Chishiya feel as if he was one of the patients that he worked with in residence, that started to smoke as a replacement addiction to opioids. Chishiya was addicted to you.
"What will you do? When you go back?", you said. It was yet another one of your late night talks, and he was trying his best not to let his sleep addled mind make him do something stupid. Like kissing you. Even though you were so so close...
"I'm going to start living. Really living", he said, voice thick with sleep in a way that made you shiver. "This place has a way of making you feel like you were wasting your life, doesn't it?", you nodded. "What about you?"
"I will do the things I was too afraid of doing before I came here. I'm going to let people in. I'm going to fall in love. Madly. Maybe start a family. Who knows", you were blushing, your eyes closed to avoid the embarrassment of what you just said. You could feel Chishiya's eyes piercing all over throughout your face like needles.
"That sounds good, I think", he said simply before closing his eyes as well, his own blush dusting his cheeks.
"Chishiya? Chishiya, wake up", you said. You had just came back to find Chishiya asleep with an empty bottle on his hand, and started to worry immediately. This wasn't like him. What really startled you though was the dried tear streaks on his cheeks.
He had opened his eyes after a minute, but just barely, his lids were heavy in a way that told you he was still drunk.
"Y/N... You're back", he hid his face in your thigh where you kneeling besides his head and you had to contain a jump to not hurt him. He was already going to have a killer headache soon, you didn't want to contribute. "I can't believe you're back".
"Of course I'm back", you gently pried his face from your thigh and helped him sit up against a wall. "My game took long, it was a maze. And then I had to get some food too, that's all", you whispered, his intoxicated gaze fixated on you like you'd dissapear if he looked away. "What happened? Why are you drunk?"
"I... I drank because I was afraid. Stupid. Stupid decision", he slurred and you nodded for him to keep going. "You were taking so long... And I was afraid you were... You wouldn't... And then we wouldn't fall in love madly and have children ", he could barely string a sentence properly but you could tell he was being sincere. "Love you. Thank you for letting me in. I thought this was all just so stupid. And then you made me care about you", he said and you felt like you were having a heart attack.
You quickly leaned forward to give him a peck on the cheek, and, regretfully, had to push him away when he tried to kiss you. Instead, you cupped his cheek in your hands. "I love you too. But you're drunk. No funny business until the morning comes", you said and he gave a slow nod.
"Come here. Let's hold each other for now, ok? Rest, and we'll talk in the morning. I'll be here when you wake up, I promise", you whispered. And he promptly fell asleep, anxious to open his eyes to you in the morning as soon as possible.

You were waiting for your doctor to come back to do your checkups, but apparently he had been called to see another patient, and the situation got worse and they sent another doctor to attend to you.
"Hello, miss, good morning", he said as he entered the room, you were sitting in front of the doctor's desk, you smiled at him when he greeted you, "Nice to meet you, I'm Chishiya", he offered you his hand and when you touched it, something happened, he frowned at you and smiled without understanding, "I feel like I know you… have we met each other before?"
Your cheeks flushed instantly, letting go of his hand as, for some very inopportune reason, your mind had come up with a very inappropriate scenario where you were bent over a desk in an office you didn't know, getting fucked by him and whimpering his name, asking for more.
"I don't think so…", you chuckled awkwardly, "Maybe I have one of those faces."
"I don't agree… I would never forget your face", and he smiled making your face feel flushed even more, and that's what he wanted to see, "So", he continued, happily following the conversation so you didn't have to say nothing, "can you sit on the gurney over there, please?"
You got up from your chair and climbed onto the padded gurney against the wall and waited. Chishiya took your blood pressure, checked your breathing, and assessed your reflexes, as you tried to push all rude thoughts away like the one where you both were making out on a bed in what seemed like a hotel room. Where did you get those ideas from? What was your problem? He was very handsome, but damn, wait a minute to think like that.
"Let's do a complete blood count", he said after writing things down on his clipboard, "is that all right? Are you fasting, right?"
"Yes, Doctor."
"Just call me Chishiya, please", he smiled, "I'll have a nurse take you to get your blood drawn, ok?"
"Yes, Chishiya", you smiled, making him sigh.
Something inside of him told him that the thoughts of fucking you on a table weren't just his head making a wish of its own, it felt like a memory, and he wanted to relive them, "Are you going somewhere to eat?", you frowned at him, "You can't go home without eating."
You laughed, "Oh, yeah, I was going to eat at a convenience store nearby."
"Can I make you a proposal?", you nodded and waited, "Here at the hospital there is a restaurant for employees and the breakfast is wonderful", you raised your eyebrow doubtfully, making him laugh, "I'm not lying, it's really good. Pinky swear", and he lifted his pinky making you smile.
You laced your pinky with his, "But what if I don't like it, what do I get?"
"If you don't like it, I'll take you out to dinner."
"I think I already hated it", he smiled, and, fuck, his smile was beautiful.
"I'm going to call the nurse, as soon as you're done wait for me and I'll take you with me, ok?", you nodded, "See you in a bit, miss."
You had to force yourself to stay still as the nurse drew your blood, your legs shaking non stop with anxiety. All you could think about was him, you could see so clearly his eyes devouring you as you knelt before him, blowing him. You were going to need to talk to a psychiatrist soon.
"Can we go?", asked the blonde as he approached, smiling.
You nodded and took a deep breath as his gaze devoured you from top to bottom, could you make that erotic fantasy in your mind come true? And with him in that lab coat? Could that happen?
The staff restaurant was quite small, with four four-seater tables and a small counter with a black menu on the glass with various snacks, there was no one to offer them, the staff could get them on their own, the people who worked to make them were in the kitchen behind the counter, so they were alone. He chose a chicken salad sandwich each and sat down next to you.
"Are you sure it's okay for me to be eating here? I'm not an employee", you commented feeling guilty, you hadn't thought about that when you were invited, you only thought about his blonde ponytail.
"It's okay… I'm the best doctor here, I have privileges", he said jokingly.
"Says who?", you mocked back.
"I said and I'm the best doctor here so you have to believe me."
You smiled and accepted the sandwich. The two talked softly while eating, everything was fine, until his voice started to get smother. His hand went up to your wrist, being gentle.
"I know this is going to sound weird… but I have memories with you", at the same instant your eyebrows rose, the fact that you knew exactly what he was talking about made your heart race, "But they're not memories that I remember having, if that makes sense", he chuckled, "I think you know what I'm talking about… I introduced myself and you started blushing."
"Chishiya", you whispered, looking at him in amazement, your cheeks flushing again, your skin glowing.
"I think you saw what I saw", whispered the doctor, his lips approaching your ear, "You riding my cock, your pretty face contorted", his hand slid down your jeans-covered thigh, "you kept moaning my name in such a cute way, begging to be spanked and choked… if I'm not mistaken, you called me 'daddy' too."
"Chishiya, I don't… we can't…"
"Can't we?", he repeated, laughing softly, "I can do whatever I want, I'm the best doctor here", and he brought his face close to yours, "Are you doubting daddy, princess?"
"No, daddy."
Chishiya smiled and stood up, pulling you by the hand, "Come with me, I need better memories of you blowing me."
"Chishiya, keep it down!", you asked in a whispered scream.
"I will not…"
You were taken to a private room for employees, where they could sleep in short breaks on very long shifts. The door was locked and he kissed you, desperately, his hands grabbing your thighs and placing them around his waist, laying you down on the bed. His lips dominating yours, your tongue rubbing against his, your legs wrapped around his waist, your hips grinding against his, feeling his erection pressing against your pussy, the thick material of your jeans rubbing against you, but not that satisfying.
You parted your lips, sticking out your tongue, purring as Chishiya let saliva slide from his tongue onto yours.
His hands pulled your shirt up, revealing your bare breasts, making him smirk, "Oh… still with that braless thing, huh?"
He sighed, took his tongue to the delicate nipple and licked it, being delicate while his hands went to your pants, opening them and then took them off along with your panties, returning to suck your breasts, while his fingers started to fuck you. They didn't have much time to be in there and he didn't want to wait until his shift was over, if he didn't fuck you right now, he wouldn't going to be able to concentrate all day.
"Daddy", you whispered, your fingers sliding through the his fringe, sliding the blonde strands back, whimpering, your hips rolling against his fingers, which quickly fucked you.
"You're so fucking hot", he whispered, licking your nipples, sighing, "Such a fucking slut."
"Daddy", you whimpered, "let me blow you, please."
Chishiya smiled, one of his hands squeezing one of your breasts while his hand was still working on fucking you, your body squirmed under his, "Do you want to suck my cock, little girl?", he asked, you nodded, "Then ask for some more."
"Please daddy, let me suck you", you began, your hands sliding through his blonde hair, "please, please, please, let me choke on your cock, please, I need to remember what it feels like to have your cock pounding my throat."
"Fuck", he whispered, darkly, "You know how to beg, baby girl", and chuckled as he sat down on the small bed, "You can do whatever you want to me."
For a second, you thought about his clothes, he looked so handsome in that lab coat, he looked so important and serious, so the only thing you did was open his pants. You were kneeling on the floor between his legs, his cock pulsing in front of your face, your hand gently touching it, the red tip leaking pre-cum, begging for attention.
You sighed and let your tongue run the length of the thick cock, smiling as the blonde whimpered softly, your hair being stroked as your mouth moved up and down, his body tensing whenever you allowed his cock to reach your throat. Saliva glided over your lips, drooling over his skin, helping the movements of your mouth and hands, one helping to massage the part that didn't fit in your mouth while the other massaged his balls.
Your jaw ached, your eyes were teary and your pussy throbbed, it hurted, you could feel your pleasure wetting your thighs. Your eyes rose to Chishiya's and you purred softly, the vibration in your throat caressing his cock, making him moan.
"You were made to suck cock", he whispered, "Look at you", his thumb slid along your lower lip pulling it down so he could see your tongue, "with that perfect little mouth", and he whimpered rolling his eyes eyes of pure pleasure, "Don't you want to ride me, baby?"
"Please, sir, I want to be stretched out", you whispered, rolling your tongue around the tip of his cock.
"Come here, kitten", he asked, pulling you by the waist, placing you sitting on his lap, your legs wrapped around his, your arms hugging his neck. The two kissed, one of Chishiya's hands was on your ass and the other was holding his cock, pulling you down to sit on it.
You moaned, feeling yourself being stretched out as you wanted. When you were all sitting on it, you tried to move, but Shuntaro grabbed you by the ass, keeping you in place, getting separate whimpers from you.
"Chishiya", you whispered, "Fuck me…"
He smiled, one of his hands letting go of your ass while the other wrapped around your waist to keep you in place. His free hand caressed your face before slapping, "No… beg nicely and I'll do whatever you want."
You whined, "Please, mister Shuntaro, fuck me, I already said I wanted to be stretch by your cock, don't be mean to me."
He smiled, "I would never be mean to my little doll."
And Chishiya started to move. The memories you had and didn't know from where, didn't do justice to what you were feeling at that moment. Your moans grew louder, but you kissed him to try not to make a scene while you clung to his lab coat, feeling your pussy being punished.
"Fuck", whispered the doctor, "such a tight pussy…"
"Daddy", you purred, your body moving more with the man's strength than yours because he had a rhythm he wanted to follow and who were you to go against his will?
"Where did I meet you?", he whispered softly, giving you a peck, "Where was that office I fucked you in? I wanted to go fuck you there again."
You smiled, laying your forehead on his, moaning and panting heavily, "I have a nice home office…"
The blonde grinned, "It will do", he whispered.
Chishiya came first, his cock sunk inside you, panting softly, but you still hadn't cum and he had a plan to satisfy you. He laid you down on the bed and spread your legs, kneeling in front of you, watching your pussy all fucked and wet.
His thumb pressed onto your clit and started massaging it, "Fuck that little pussy so I can watch, c'mon, princess."
You moaned and nodded, your hand going to your pussy, two fingers sinking into you without difficulty, the massage on your clit never stopped, your free hand squeezed your own breast as you moaned for him. You looked at him, feeling like a piece of meat, he looked at you hungrily, watching you fuck yourself. His cum slipped between your fingers, slicking your pussy even further.
"I'm going to cum, daddy, may I?", you asked slyly.
"Of course, my baby girl, cum for me."
It didn't take long, your orgasm hit you hard, moans and whimpers leaving your lips as you felt your body burn. You didn't even have time to catch your breath, being kissed with desperation by the blonde.
"Did you like the sandwich?", he asked, giving you a peck.
You shook your head, "I hated it."
"Fuck…", he sneered, "I'm going to have to take you out to dinner."
"Too bad", you whispered, kissing him again.
He waited while you got dressed and exchanged phone numbers with you. The doctor accompanied you downstairs and said goodbye. Fifteen minutes later, he received a message from you. It was a picture of you, in the hospital bathroom, in front of the mirror, showing your breasts, making him smile and shake his head. How he was going to pay attention to his work until it was time to leave, he had no idea.

Tumblr media
Universe: Alice in Borderland
Pairing: Chishiya x reader
Disclaimers and Warnings: This is going to have some descriptions of anxiety and panic attacks as well as the general 'alice in borderland' violence. Be warned.
I'm trying to make the reader gn, but I'm always scared to make any sort of gendering labeling, so just please forgive me if something is gendered and know that my idea is to make the reader GN.
And also, I still don't know what I'm doing, and english is still not my main language.
Plot: You go to a work event in a familiar place you've never been to.

The sun was still low on the horizon when you arrived at the Foundation’s main door. Grabbing your duffel bag and backpack you exited your car followed by your close friend, roomie and colleague Kaori. There were already a few staff members waiting, on the sidewalk, for the transport to take you all to the event and you both walked to join them.
Kaori hadn’t stopped talking about the conference and the fact that you would get a free vacation out of it. However, your mind kept switching her off from time to time.
“Hey! You sure you’re feeling alright?” They asked you for the tenth time.
“Yeah. It’s just weird…I feel…weird…” You told them honestly.
You met Kaori a long time ago. They had been the ones that had helped you after ‘the incident’. Their bubbly personality, friendly attitude, and especially their caring and patient side had become a safe space for you to turn to. Even if sometimes they were a bit overexcited. After the meteor, their over-the-top personalities were what kept you motivated.
“It’s the first lengthy trip after the…thing…it’s normal. It’ll be alright…” Kaori placed a hand on your shoulders, giving you a reassuring smile and you smiled back, still weary.
It was in fact the first long trip you had taken after the disaster a year ago. In the months after the incident, just walking around Tokyo would make you hyperventilate. Although it had subsided, there was still a feeling of dread in the pit of your stomach. You felt like a prey animal, always hypervigilant. All the doctors you knew and all the counselors told you it was normal. You had been through a traumatic event, more than that it had been a sudden traumatic event, your body still in fight or flight mode. Still, the explanation didn’t take away the feeling.
“I promise you, I have googled every single space agency, telescope and conspiracy theory website. None indicated the sky was going to fall down again.”
You rolled your eyes at their joke. Some people might find their humor offensive, but it was something you both had in common. Even though you still felt the scars mentally of your trauma, you found that a helpful workaround was to joke about it.
“Thank you. Deeply appreciated, friend!” You placed a hand on your heart in mock gratitude and they nodded.
"No problem, buddy."
As you approached the small group of people at the door, you both made a beeline for some familiar faces. The taller of the two figures, Ari, waved at you and your friend as they saw you approaching.
“Who’s ready for a free vacation?” Ari asked, clapping her hands together and beaming brightly.
“It’s not free.” Chishiya’s raspy voice argued.
"It's an all-inclusive, four-day trip to one of the finest resorts in Tokyo. It's a bit of a free vacation.” Kaori argued back.
“Did you forget about the two-day conference?” He asked her, pushing his hands into his white jacket.
You stood, quietly grinning, looking between Kaori, Chishiya and Ari as the three of them argued whether the event constituted a paid vacation or just work.
“You know! I liked you better when you were blonde.” Ari concluded by crossing her hands over her chest.
The look Chishiya threw at her was the most offended glare you had ever seen him give. It lasted exactly 5 seconds but it was enough for you to snort as you tried to keep the laughter in.
“Come on Ari, we all know blonde Chishiya was not the superior Chishiya.” You teased, pointing at his now jet black hair. “This! This is our true lord and savior. The evolution of the man, who is now a legend.”
“I don’t know why I hang out with you people.” He retorted, but his face was neutral with a side of good humor.
He had indeed made a radical shift in his looks. His hair was slightly shorter, looked healthier, but his usual white was now jet black. He had changed his locks after the incident, a few weeks after he started working at the Foundation. Obviously, you all teased him.
Truth be told, many survivors had indeed altered their appearances after the trauma. The last time you saw some of them, thanks to the ‘mandatory monthly therapy session ’ , there had been some changes in aesthetics. Some had grown out their locks, others had shaved their heads, and others had changed their style completely. You yourself had changed your appearance as soon as you could move about.
Every time you looked in the mirror, the person looking back didn’t seem like you. It was like staring at a photo of you from years ago. From another life. And technically, that was right.
“Because you need a few people around, to bring you down from that marble pedestal you like to stand on.” Ari said and everyone nodded, including him.
“Kicking and screaming sometimes.” Kaori gave everyone a knowing look.
"Alright children. Enough with the beating of an undead horse.” You looked between your friends as they groaned and moaned at the bad joke.
The bus arrived and the group made their way to it. As you walked down the bus aisle quietly, shuffling behind the rest of the staff, you could hear Kaori and Ari argue about something they had read in a scientific magazine and Chishiya complaining he was not mentally ready to spend an hour hearing Ari go on about this.
“You can sit with me.” You smiled at him, turning to look at him over your shoulder.
“Thank you.” He bowed his head to you.
As the four of you settled into your seats, the excited Ari and Kaori kept chatting on and on about the article while Chishiya just shook his head.
“That article was disproven by several sources months ago.” He declared in a hushed tone as he took out his hoodie and placed it on the overhead shelf.
“You can walk over and tell them that. Good luck!” You teased him and he shook his head, getting comfortable.
"Ari will probably google it in about...five minutes." He grinned at you, raising one eyebrow and you chuckled.
The relationship between you was warm, comfortable and you both seemed to enjoy each other's company. You both shared a once-in-a-lifetime experience, which bonded you in an unusual way, just like it did with the survivors. There were some who were affected more than others, but being collectively dead for a minute or two had made you all form a strange bond.
With Chishiya it spanned beyond the monthly meetings though. You had started working at the Foundation months before the meteor, and he had joined a few weeks after. The Foundation had made you and him sit through counseling every week, deeming that the monthly therapy group sessions given by the government weren’t enough. You would both sit in the waiting room of the psych wing waiting for your name to be called. That was the perfect opportunity for you to strike a conversation with the handsome and aloof doctor.
It started with small talk, the weather, the shifts at the hospital, what had been on TV. Even though he seemed distant, he was willing to listen to you. He kept the conversation flowing by adding some snarky remarks and trivia about the topic you'd be discussing.
And then you introduced him to your friends and the four of you became a unit. It had taken him a while to get used to the chaos that was the three of you together, but as time passed, you noticed him becoming more relaxed. Although he kept all of the other staff at arms length, barely moving an eyebrow at them, around you three, he seemed to be content. He seemed to be happy, often antagonizing one of you or just letting you all tease him about something.
It became a habit to wait for each other whenever you had counseling sessions. You would grab some cookies from the machine and sit on a bench taking in the last rays of sunshine.
• ··········· • ············ •
“Thank you” He said one day, munching on a biscuit, making you turn your head towards him in surprise.
“For what?”
“I don’t know.” The still white haired doctor shrugged and leaned back into the stone seat. “When I woke up in the hospital, I felt like I needed a change.”
“Dying does that to you.” You smiled at him and he nodded.
“I didn’t enjoy doing anything before. At least that’s what I felt. I was a flat line, just keeping up with the flow. Nothing mattered. Get to work, pretend to care, go home, pretend to have hobbies, pretend to have friends, go to sleep. Repeat. I felt nothing. Whether I was telling a mother that her child was dying or just ordering lunch, it was all the same to me. ”
“And now? Are there any nuances in your...feelings?” You questioned him softly and clearly saw the gears in his head turn.
“Yes.” He looked at you and raised an eyebrow. “I don’t think I’ll ever be able to fully rationalize what they are, but there are spikes on the line now.”
“I don’t think you have to rationalize emotions, Chishiya. I don’t think anyone does. You just have them.”
“What if I don't have them?”
“Well, you go to counseling." you joked, pointing a cookie at him and then becoming serious. "I’ve seen you with your patients. I’ve seen you around Ari and Kaori. I’m seeing you now. This…” Your hand motioned towards him. “This is feeling an emotion.”

The Cut That Always Bleeds
requested?: no pairing(s): shuntaro chishiya x gn!reader genre: fluff, smidge of angst warning(s): mentions of injury (not detailed), fluffiness, shiya being soft for reader (shock horror gasp) , healing wounds, chishiya being chishiya summary: reader gets hurt and tries to hide it, but chishiya sees straight through it and helps them word count: 323 a/n; haven't wrote for my lovely husband yet, so i thought i would, have fun ya'll, mwah
you and chishiya had just finished a game together. well, not so much together, more so just doing a game at the same time, different games, it was the beach, what do you expect?
either way, you managed to acquire an injury in your right leg, that kind of effected your walking. chishiya did kind of notice, but brushed it off for the first few days. until, you came down with a terrible fever, and chishiya needed to know what had happened.
you tried to tell him it was nothing, but he didn’t believe you. being as smart as he was, had its profanities. you did eventually show him what had happened. his doctor instincts kicked in, and he immediately got to work on how to cure your wound. he disinfected it first, holding your hand and saying praising things as he did so.
“you’re doing so good, almost there i swear, yeah?” he said encouragingly, you nodded as tears pricked in your eyes. he bandaged you up as quick as he could, before pulling you into a tight hug, him wiping away your tears and smiling down at you lightly before hugging you into his chest and kissing the crown of your head softly.
you sat there in his lap while he told you what you needed to do from keeping your wound from infecting even more than it probably already had.
he did scold you slightly for not telling him beforehand, but he did kiss you over and over again afterwards.
“i love you so much, yeah? just gotta tell me next time something happens, that could’ve gotten infected if i didn’t press on you to tell me, hm?” he whispers in your ear later that night, making sure you know that he loves you, but you do need to tell him these things.
“i love you, shiya” you say before yawning and falling asleep to the sound of his heartbeat.

Chishiya x GN!Reader
Genre: Angst (TW: Death, mentions of being stabbed by a glass shard, possibly rushed oneshot) Romantic In which Chishiya makes it out of the borderlands and remembers everything, including losing you.
["Lights are on But nobody's home"]
"Game complete"
The last thing Chishiya remembered was laying slouched against a car holding his bleeding side, then fireworks, then nothing.
The next thing he hears after being completely knocked out is the beeping of what he knows is a heart monitor. He opens his eyes slowly to see a doctor standing beside someone he couldn't make out yet, since his eyesight was adjusting to the lights; and he could slowly hear the doctors voice increase to more than just something muffled.
"..for a minute your heart stopped, as well as the person beside you. It's a miracle you're alive, you both were in the border between life and death."
Border. Life and death.
Chishiya's head turned to the side after the doctor left, coming face to face with a male with long black hair up to his shoulders. His eyebrows knit together in confusion. He felt like he knew who this was, but couldn't put a finger to it.
"Seriously? Out of all people, I have to be next to you?" The male mumbled, and Chishiya instantly recognized the sharp tone.
"Niragi?"
"Yeah, who else? Did you want it to be Y/N?"
Y/N?
Chishiya stared at the ceiling. Y/N? Who was that? Why did he feel a tug at his heart, hearing their name?
"That look on your face tells me you don't remember who they are." Niragi spoke up again, and Chishiya turned to him.
"You know, you guys were incredibly soppy. After that King of Spades game, you wouldn't let go of them, begging them to hold on because it was almost over. I never imagined you'd be capable to cry over someone" Niragi snickers
Then it hits Chishiya.
They were in the borderlands fighting the King of Spades, and Y/N had helped Arisu lead the King to the pharmacy, where they blew him up. He also remembered seeing Y/N tumble into the gravel, a glass shard protruding from their chest. He remembered holding them close, begging them to hold on a little while longer, because everything was going to be just fine.
He sat up suddenly, ripping the IV cords off himself and heading out ignoring Niragi's protests. He quickly walked down the hall, searching for the main desk.
He needed to see them, to make sure they made it.
"Excuse me, was there a patient named Y/N L/N here?" He asks urgently, and the nurse goes through the file. "Room 603-" Chishiya interrupted with a quick 'thank you' before hurrying off, not wanting to waste a single second.
Room 600, Room 601, Room 602-
"Y/N!" He burst into the room only to freeze in the doorway to see Kuina holding into their pale hand, tears in her eyes. He gave her a questioning look, and she shook her head slowly.
No.
"Chishiya.. they got them here safely, but they lost a lot of blood due to the glass in their chest. They were able to last through the week, but they were too weak today." She explained
Please no.
He went up to them, holding their hand. It felt cold and limp against his skin, and he held their hand to his cheek as he gazed at their peaceful figure.
One whole week. They were here one whole week, and he missed it.
<><><><>
He got discharged and headed home seeing his lights were still on exactly how he'd left it during the borderlands. He remembered taking Y/N here, how they'd hugged out the possible last few minutes of the games away. How they'd finally confessed their love for one another, after so long.
"Chishiya, what if I told you I loved you?" He glanced at Y/N, caressing their cheek, a small smile on his face. "What if I told you I felt the same?"
He wished he could've told them a little earlier, if only he hadn't wasted precious time secretly admiring Y/N.
If he did, would they be together? Would Y/N still be on the couch lazing with a book and hot cocoa, greeting Chishiya with a hug and a 'welcome back'?
Chishiya was home but it felt empty.
Empty, because they were no longer there.

Hello! I really love your writing and saw your requests are open :D
Wondering if you could write a headcannon of what it would be like being chishiya’s childhood friend? like how would they meet and what would their dynamic be like
gn! kid reader who’s selfless and caring like arisu wanting to befriend him (whos been staring at the Mona Lisa painting for quite awhile)
Sorry if this doesn’t make any sense
have a nice day/evening/night ⭐️
Chishiya's Childhood Best Friend Headcannons!
Tumblr media
A/N: Im giggling so hard rn cause I've been planning on a lot of chishiya x childhood bestfriend! reader so this was so ♥ i mean like 'return to me' was legit that shshsjdj tysm for this req <3 i love this req smmm
Pairing: Chishiya x Childhood Bestfriend!Reader
Warning: Season 2 spoilers
Feedback is highly appreciated!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Before Borderlands:
both of your parents were friends
all giggling and shit in the background as if they werent shitty people
you held your mom's hand all unamused as they were talking
but then you saw another kid staring at that one mona lisa painting
so of course
you went to him
you started to introduce yourself and chatted with him for a while
you talked more because all he mostly did was hum and nod
both your parents saw how 'close' yall were so they set both of you up with studydates. playdates arent their cup of tea
it took a while for chishiya to open up to you
but of course, you were the only person who comforted him because you saw right through his little charades
im sure you were both so close only because you were so persuasive and just really liked his company!
he does too but he wont let you know that
chishiya also kept you close because of that 'you know me too much'
so its either friendship or death
but you chose friendship of course
when you guys grew older, maybe teenage years,
chishiya really thought you would leave and never see him again
he was a little bit relieved but also partly scared and worried
but you pulled an uno reverse and visited like a lot.
he hates admitting the fact that you're his best friend and probably his only friend
he wouldn't mind you calling him 'chishi', 'shi', 'shiya' and whatever nickname you can get out of his name
you both played games of course.
he made/helped you in mind games
and you helped him with more physical and hands-on things. especially with teamwork.
because that little shit likes doing everything himself and he had to learn how to share
you'd come to him to ask for help and vice versa ,
after a lot of denial of course
can we all agree that chishiya is a bit of a tsundere? because yes.
but he'd be more sleek and good at hiding his feelings.
he'd tease you but you'd tease him back
you'd already call him doctor the moment he joined medical school as a joke
you're definitely going to let him reconsider his point of views and ideals.
he listens but he doesn't apply
he hates how much you care for him,
hates how much you would put him first
but that's cause he likes the affection.
again, he'd lie to himself about his feelings lets be real
but i really do imagine a classic opposites attract dynamic
"somebody will die-" "of fun!"
or like you create the chaos and he is the smart, chilled out chaos enabler
in short, both of you guys are two peas in a pod except that he dislikes admitting it
but he wouldn't mind being by your side
During Borderlands:
i really, honestly, wouldn't think that you'd come in there with him during this time
but if there's a chance that you do join,
fuck you because he is going to be having your back even when you dont realize it
sure, he probably only wants you as an asset. but goddamnit-
you already understand that he is the type of person who would betray others
i think you even told him that both of you should split up so that you wouldnt get in his way
honestly, he thought it was a good idea too
but ofc, every goddamn game you finished, chishiya's outside waiting for you
then both of you agreed thst you'd split up from time to time
but when you guys were in a same match then expect war against the other players
because power duo
especially in a game of clubs
chishiya is honestly very lucky that you got his back in games of spades and clubs
if the game turns out to be diamonds and/or hearts,
you'd help him think and solve situations with him
but for the most part, you're just there under his protection
because people would definitely try to manipulate the both of you or like, mostly you
and if you look bigger, taller and maybe even a little bit ripped than chishiya from all those physical games,
PICK 👏 HIM 👏 UP
like we all saw that bastard jog from those bullets in season 2
YOU'RE GONNA HAVE TO PICK HIM UP
when the king of spades is starting to bite yalls asses,
just literally swoop in and pick him up like he's fucking nothing because its definitely better than watching him jog around with his hands in his mf pockets
but i hc that you picked him up in several occasions
hell, you'd pick him up like aguni did niragi
you become very good friends with kuina!!!
she's honestly baffled how you could pick this stone up
oh and you definitely taught her how to read chishiya or how to truly understand his 'cute' antics and remarks
protect him from niragi. please.
he can DEFINITELY protect himself from niragi but
you just selfless and caring like that
it would probably make his heart happy if you do that but yk him
and if you join the jack of hearts game,
then thats where your bond REALLY starts to show
because you trust one another
honestly, you were probably ready to bash that big bully's head in if he started threatening chishiya
chishiya would also reassure you that he would tell you the truth and only the truth
and he knew you were being genuine because everytime you told him his symbol after he told you yours, you'd have a dumbass, dorky smile on your face that he liked so much
y'all would honestly pass the time chatting
philosophy, what the games could mean or even just memories before borderlands
after the king of diamonds game though, he seemed so off
you asked what's wrong and he told you that he was just thinking
and at the time when chishiya was planning to sacrifice himself for usagi, you left him to try and shoot niragi using the gun he gave him
haha, the anger on your face when niragi shot him
but then you were caught off guard when chishiya suddenly went to usagi and you swear to god you heard him say a soft 'sorry'
you almost had a breakdown when he got a second bullet
but instead of choosing to stomp niragi, you decided to stay by chishiya's side and help him stop from bleeding as you lay him next to a car
both of you would then slowly start softly chatting about his life choices
while people were being murdered.
im sure he let you hold him like that,
trying to stop the blood
and omg when he told arisu his secret, you felt so much sympathy for him
then chishiya probably told you that while he was thinking to be selfless for once,
he kept thinking about you and everything you told him
ever since you both met
because before arisu, you were the most selfless and caring person he knew
and after all those times you told him that it would make yourself feel better after you helped others. because you were so sweet
he wanted to try it out for once
and when you both saw the fireworks in the sky, you told him how excited you were to see him again in the real world
After Borderlands:
you were definitely walking together and talking when the meteor disaster happened.
like you were laughing and he was just listening to you
and then you woke up, next to him
different bed of course
and other than the ceiling, he was the first thing you saw
he was looking at you when you woke up
"good morning" he'd say
and you'd be so fucking ecstatic that he was alive
then both of you would just start chatting about how your near-death situation affected you
you were glad to hear that he was planning to change his life ideals and pov
when both of you could walk around the hospital, there was never a moments that a doctor or nurse wouldn't see the both of you chatting together
this is when your bond with him starts to really strengthen

YanDoctorChishiya x Reader - Best Medicine
Tumblr media
Notes: Yandere Chishiya - Suicide mention - Mental health and Illness mention - Delusional Reader - DARK CHISHIYA - Manipulation -
Notes 2: im not by any means an expert in mentall illness so this may have some mistakes in that part.
When you started to date Chishiya things seemed extremely fine. He was kind, smart, a bit rash and sarcastic. But you two found a balance in your relationship.
He knew almost (if not all) of you. Your likes, dislikes, your favorites places. He noticed and kept track on things you hated or loved.
He kept track on your relationships, your cowerkers, friends, family....
When he got into your family you were scared. Your family got a long list of mentall illness in them. Depression, bipolar disorder...to name a few. But Chishiya was a doctor, he told you he undertood both the fear of not being accepted and the illnes themself.
So you dont know when or who you srated to feel paranoic around....everyone.
First episode was on yours Sister Birthday, you were doing fine, dancing and drinking a bit. Chishiya was there having a talk with yours Sisters Husband. When suddendly you started to hear voices...but not the voices from your family or friends. Strange ones, what they said you could not describe but it became too much, the voices, the music, you passed out right there.
The second episode was at your work. You were doing just fine, tiping your reports and filling up some late work when an email appear
I see you :)
You brushed it off as one of your coworkers making a joke to you (you would bet it was Kai doing it).
Stop Kai :P
You sent that reply and continued to work when another email came.
Who is Kai ?
Alright now that was....off. You turned to Kai's desk and got a chill down your spine. Kai's desk was marked as "absent".
You decided to blocke the email and continue but as the day went by more emails came.
Why did you block me ?
We want to see you
Please reply we are lonely
Do you want to see mom ?
The last message got your nerves. Your mom had passed away comitting suicide thanks to her delusional mind. Your biggest fear was ending like her.
Days passed and it just got worse.
You would be walking and see random figures that were not there when you took a second look. The emails kept coming and getting worse.
You started to have nightmares almost everynight and since Chishiya had took night shifts he could not help you during these times.
You did not want to tell someone about it. Not when you started to hear your friends saying things in distorsed voices when you were with them at your home.
You went to emergency care when you felt like you could not take it anymore. The Doctor who attended you listened and wrote down everything.
"I know most crazy people says this...but im sane, i swear"
The Doctor told you to wait for him in the room. When he left you tried to remember when things started.
Your first episode was in your sisters party, but what was befote that ? Why was everything so blurry ?
You could see one figure screaming at you, moving their hands, they took your neck and told you something but you could just not remember what they did.
"Here she is" The Doctors voice said.
With Horror you saw Chishiya standing there, a small smirk on his face.
Tumblr media
Chishiya and you were the happier couple ever, all of the stalking months had gave their fruits. Chishiya knew about your fear of being left because of your family with their mental health problems, but he never had a problem with it. He knew about these illness, how terrible they were and how society was not understanding about them.
He never tought he would have to use them against you...
It was just one morning, one bad morning. He was not sure how, but you had discovered he had been stalking you and were angry, well more than angry at him. Screams started to go from you, not getting him a reaction till you say the words that made him do it
"Im leaving you, i dont want nothing to do with you"
Chishiya lost it. He took you by the neck, pressing it and whispering to you
"I wont let you, I will be the only one you will be able to count on"
And just like that he chocked you, letting you fall. When you fell your head it the floor a bit too strong. Chishiya took you to his friend clinic who did not question about the marks on your neck.
"Possible memorie lose" where the words that stood with Chishiya.
And that was the start of his plan and downfall. As a Doctor getting different types of medications was not a problem, even easier if you knew how to move around the underground world.
Chishiya got the typical medications for a standar dementian patient. The next weeks he added them in whatever you were having. Food, drinks...it was just about some time they made their effects or side effects.
When you passed out in your Sisters Birthday Chishiya played the worried boyfriend card perfectly, and while you were at the hospital he made a small comment about you being paranoic the last few days. He saw how your sister went silence, fearing the worse.
Harassing you by email was in his opinion a low move but necesary. He remember when you called him crying, rambling about emails and how they kept mentioning your mother but when you showed them the emails were not there.
You had tried to take a photo of them but that one did dissapear too.
Chishiya had to contract a hacker for it, he gave him the specific words he wanted you to read, and made it clear to remove all the evidence once it was done.
You then started to see figures around, another side effect from the medication and to think your friends were not your friends or how them were trash talking you.
And while all of this happened Chishiya talked with your family. Your Sister insisted that you were fine, but when Chishiya made her listen to your call from work she stopped talking.
Your father, the old man who had lost his dear wife was worried. He did believe you had started to fall into madness like your mother and listened to Chishiya as he was god.
"I believe the best would be to get her a treatment....and to let her live with me" Chishiya had soflty said.
"I know this type of illness well, i can take care of her in my house, and it will be better than have her in a mental hospital".
Your Sister was against it but your father accepted, under one condition that for Chishiya was like hitting the jack box.
"We will do that. But you will marry her, i want you to take care of her for the rest of your life"
Tumblr media
Your looked confused at Chishiya who took the seat besides you. Without noticing he put a silver ring on yout finger and kissed your hand.
"Chishiya what-"
"Im here love" love, a word he never uses. "I will take care of you from now. You seem to have what you mother had, but dont worry. You will stay at my house, i promise you, i will be the best husband and doctor for you".
"Wait...what do you mean husband, and doctor?" You asked with horror. "And what is that i have the same as my mother the other doctor-"
"He went to ask for a second opinion and that was mine. You have been dealing with such a harsh time now, and i havent been there. But now i will, i will be with you forever now. No matter how much you want to be away, or how sane you think you are, i will make you insane so i can have you all for myself".

Hey I saw u were taking writing prompts I was wondering if u could write Chishiya x sick fem Reader. I’m sick right now and it’s kicking my arse lmao.
Thank u hope u have a nice day/night
oh nooooooooooooooo!!!! i was also sick last week and it was a pain in the ass, i understand. :(
hope this makes you feel a bit better ♡♡♡
Tumblr media
Chishiya was packing up his things, having changed clothes and almost completely ready to leave the hospital for the day, when he heard his phone buzzing.
'Doctor, I need you.'
It was a text from you, of course. He couldn't help but smile to himself thinking you must be in a really playful mood if you were referring to him as doctor. Your next message, a few seconds later, seemed to confirm that.
'Please, please, please. Come to my place to see me today.'
He raised an eyebrow. Begging out of nowhere was not like you. But you hadn't seen each other in a few days ― both of you had been very busy with work, and he had to admit he really missed you. You were supposed to meet on Saturday, three days from then, but he found himself walking towards your house, his body, his feelings for you, making the decision before his head could. He was excited.
He finally made it to your place. He raised a fist, and had just knocked on your door when he heard muffled coughing behind it, getting closer. Were you okay? He was not one to get easily agitated, but that didn't sound quite right.
You opened, and he could tell immediately what was wrong. You were sick.
Chishiya had always thought you were the most beautiful woman he had laid eyes upon: big, knowing eyes, that changed color depending on the lighting; shiny hair that always smelled like home, that he loved playing with distractedly when you would sit down to watch a movie, soft lips he would get lost in whenever he could.
And he still thought so, even know. But there was no denying; your pretty eyes were surrounded by dark, grayish circles. Your nose was red, irritated and runny. Your hair in a messy bun. You were holding a cardboard box full of paper tissues against you, and were still in your pajamas.
'Surprise!' Your tired smile told Chishiya you hadn't been able to get much sleep.
'Are you sick?' He asked, getting close to you and placing his lips on your forehead, both to kiss it and to measure your temperature. Yes, you were burning. You had a fever.
'Nah, I don't think so.' You snorted a laugh, stopping for a second to cover your mouth with your hand and cough. 'Aren't you supposed to be the smart one in the relationship?'
He chuckled at that. You were sick, yes, but having a cold didn't make you any less witty. If that was only a cold, which was what he wanted to check next. He couldn't help but feel slightly worried. He went inside your apartment, left his bag on the back of a chair and hanged his coat.
He turned to face you then.
'What are your symptoms?'
'No, no, no. I wanted you here as a boyfriend, not as a physician.'
'You did call me doctor in your message.'
You thought about it for a second, throwing yourself on your couch and rubbing your chin distractedly with two fingers, lips parted. You couldn't really breathe through your nose that well.
'I guess I did. Very well. My throat started hurting yesterday. It was like… tingly?'
'Okay.'
'Then in the night time I had a little bit of a fever, you know? Not much. I went to bed thinking I would be okay by the time I woke up.'
'And?'
'I woke up at four in the morning and I was so cold, and shivering. I have been taking this.' You looked around you until you found what you were looking for and gave it to him: a box of over-the-counter tablets.
He took it, opened the package and got out the prescribing information. He checked the ingredients and nodded. 'Pretty generic, but it will do the job.'
'I thought so. It was the only thing I had around. Kuina brought them last week after she made me go to that party and I had a hangover.'
'When did you take the medicine last?'
'About forty minutes ago.'
'Have you eaten? Can you hold food just fine?'
'I have eaten, but I'm not really hungry. And I haven't thrown up or anything.'
'Stomach issues?'
'Maybe a little bit, but I don't want to talk to you about them!'
You had another coughing fit, raising your voice after that last sentence. He sat by your side, wondering if his examination had gone a little bit too far. You looked like you thought it did, because there was a slight wrinkle between your eyebrows, and the corners of your mouth were facing downwards.
'Please, just be a normal boyfriend.'
'I'm sorry. I got carried away.'
'Occupational hazards, I guess.'
You were smiling again, which made him smile in return. He liked that about you ― you wouldn't hold grudges. Whenever someone honestly said sorry, whether it was him, a friend of yours, a family member… You would always forgive them. He lifted his hand so that it would rest on your jawline, caressing your cheek with his thumb, softly.
You were still farm too warm for his liking, but the medicine should start working soon.
'And what does a normal boyfriend do in cases like this?'
You didn't answer immediately. You stared at him through half lidded eyes, sticking your tongue out, something you did when you were concentrating and that according to you, you had inherited from you father. Chishiya knew he had given you free rein to ask whatever you wanted from him, but to be honest, he would have done whatever it was to please you, especially after seeing you in such a state, so he didn't particularly mind.
'I want to watch a movie. One of those shitty movies I like that you say lower my IQ. What can I say, I am a simple woman with simple pleasures.'
Chishiya chuckled. He thought of you as many things: smart, caring, sweet, adorable, beautiful in ever sense of the word, both inside and outside, brave, strong, charming, bewitching, endearing… But never simple. That was not it.
'Wish granted.'
He took the remote control and turned on the TV, giving it then to you so that you would choose what it was you wanted to watch. He also grabbed a blanket, wrapping you with it, enjoying how the second after he was done you cuddled against him, making him lift the arm that was closest to you so that he would put it around you. As if moved by invisible strings, his fingers started to travel their way up and down your back.
You finally chose something. Some American romantic comedy with bad actors, far too many plot-holes, and badly-timed jokes. But Chishiya loved it. How couldn't he, if it made you laugh?
About thirty minutes in, you had fallen asleep, your face on the crook of his neck. You were breathing noisily, possibly from the nasal congestion, but at least you were resting and, Chishiya checked by placing the back of his free hand on your forehead, the other one still holding you against him, your body was a much more normal temperature.
He would let you sleep, as much as you wanted. Then, he would make you dinner, because you had to eat something. Lastly, so that you wouldn't feel bad about not being able to watch the movie with him, he would put it again, remembering where it was that you dozed off.
He would take care of you. Not as a doctor, although he wasn't sure he could help himself.
But as your boyfriend.
