I go through periods of 0 productivity but my dog is always an inspiration.

It's important to remind myself that creating art isn't always fast nor is it easy. I started this painting back in 2020 during the first few months of COVID lockdown and I am still working on it. During that time I lost this lovely little girl to old age and it hit so hard that I lost interest in painting her and fell into an artist block. Then I had to plan for a wedding and found myself surrounded by grief after losing my own pets to illness and all that stretched my creative river to its breaking point. I again, found myself opening this painting up just to close out of it in one move multiple times.

1 year later, I am diving in again. My creative flow is trickling back in and this girl is on my list to finish.

Her name was Maggie, but she answered to "Girlfriend" when I called.

So, without further ado;

day 9 of doggust, the beloved schnauzer

and a fun fact!! 'schnauzer' actually means 'snout' or 'muzzle' in german!! how funny is that 10/10 germany

Baby bug got to run and she did great. She did the full 200 yards twice and ran well and sound. Previously it was easy to see her start to pull up and run out of gas at the end, but she was able to keep good form the whole time for this recent run. Definitely still needs stamina building, but each time we get out she does better and better. And most importantly, no ouchies 💕

Got to take my baby into the office today for world dog day. Every body loved him and wanted pictures with him. Gotta love days like this.

In honor of Mo, Morris' Carolina Sun Kiss, Mo-sEE-Phus, and other various nicknames my sister and I made up as we grew. The mini schnauzer with copper accents, doe-like eyes, and a shrill bark of excitement. She was our little girl that always had a seat on some of our biggest adventures.

She was a runner from the time we brought her home. She would see a rabbit and go flying between our fence posts, earning her a stake in the ground and a long lead attached to it until she thickened out more. When she was about a year old, we took her to an uninhabited island with a lighthouse on it. In an instant, her leash broke and she was free to chase after the seabirds flocking on the peninsula a ways away; her black silhouette bounding across sand as birds pushed to the wind just above her was truly a sight to see... and a memory on my books to paint so I can always hold on to it.

She wasn't our first puppy, but she was the first we lost. She passed away a few years back after a hard life as a senior. I am so very grateful for the memories she had with us, even if she did chew on my shoes and made holes in the walls.

My parents are letting my husband's brother stay with them a couple nights while he interviews with a medical school and he keeps sending me pictures of my dogs bless him
