General Halloween Headcanons

Halloween is one of the bigger holidays in the Beastars world: there's something very captivating about being able to just dress up and pretend you are someone else, if even for a little while.

It isn't uncommon for smaller herbivores to dress up as stronger herbivores, and vice versa.

For carnivorous animals, Halloween is one of the only days where it's acceptable for them to be scary and threatening — claws and fangs are sharpened.

Halloween also serves as a fun way to pick on social norms, and give commentary on pressing social issues: it's not uncommon to see herbivores dressed up as the most recent predation victim as a sort of statement.

In spite of all this, the Black Market doesn't really do Halloween; or at least, the gangs don't. (Not officially, anyway)

Agata’s Feelings on Halloween

Having been raised outside of the Black Market, Agata had some exposure to Halloween.

When he was younger, his mother liked to dress him up as the ‘threatening lion’ Agata’s father never quite was.

But outside of that, Agata has never participated in any sort of Halloween event, but by God, he wants to change that.

It's just his luck that this year, the Shishigumi isn't as busy around Halloween. It gives him a good excuse to leave the Black Market and explore how people celebrate the holiday.

Agata’s Exploration [Prose]

Agata wasn't used to riding in the back seat, but Dolph insisted that he did. Something about how the passenger side seatbelt was broken, and how he didn't want to be pulled over for something as stupid as that.

With a low sigh, Agata rest his head against the hard, leather seat. He and Dolph’s eyes met in the rear view window.

“Kid,” Dolph said. “Your stop is coming up soon.”

Agata nodded at that, and Dolph’s eyes drifted back onto the road.

Looking out the car window, he could see that the storefronts were decorated with all sorts of things: paper cut-outs, fake skeletons — one store even had a fake re-enactment of a predation.

It was almost frightening how looser everyone became when Halloween was involved; doing something like that was a major no-no any other time of the year.

Catching his reflection on the window, Agata began to stare at himself. Really stare at himself, and look at everything from his face to his dark mane. Idly pulling at his mouth, he lamented that it was too late to grow out his fangs.

But that was fine — it wasn't like he was going to get a costume or anything. No, he was just going to look around and see what was for sale…

“Uh, Dolph?” Seeing the older lion not stop the car made Agata lurch forward. “You missed my stop.”

Dolph made a low noise of disapproval. “I can't park in the middle of the road, now can I?”

“Park?”

Agata + Dolph’s Exploration

Dolph really didn't plan on sticking around with Agata.

At most, he planned to give Agata some extra cash (nothing much, just an extra $200 or so — Halloween costumes could be expensive, and what if Agata got hungry along the way?) and then return to the Mansion.

That being said, Dolph is glad he decided to walk the streets with Agata: the younger lion’s curiosity is infectious.

Agata never got the chance to grow up properly, and it's so obvious that Dolph can't help but feel guilty whenever Agata stops walking to stare, or examine or touch a Halloween display.

It's mostly due to Dolph’s insistence and not-so-subtle nudging that Agata considers getting a costume at all.

Agata’s Costume

Agata wants something simple: so, no fur-dyes, or styrofoam horns, or anything of the sort.

He’s metaphorically dipping his toes in. Even though he wants to have fun this Halloween, he’s still the youngest member of the Shishigumi. And while the other lions probably wouldn't say anything, or even care ... well, what would they think?

Agata’s low self-esteem threatens to get in the way, and while Dolph can't handle the root cause, he can try to make Agata feel a bit more confident in his decision.

Dolph winds up dragging Agata to different stores, and encouraging him to try on simple costumes: the ones that are just outfits with as few accessories as possible.

In the end, both Dolph and Agata wind up paying for mobster costumes. They already dress like they're part of a gang (because they are), and it just feels "right".

(Agata thinks it's hilarious that they went to so many stores, just to wind up dressing up as themselves. Dolph finds it more amusing than hilarious)

Conclusion

As Agata and Dolph walk back to the car, they receive many compliments on their realistic mobster costumes.

Neither of them were wearing their store-bought costumes yet.

All in all, it's a successful outing. Though it isn't discussed, both Agata and Dolph agree that they'll be doing the same thing again the following year.

Agata believes he’s too old for trick-or-treating, so honestly, maybe he could hit up a club next Halloween? Or go to one of those adult costume parties? Either outing sounds like fun to him.

"so whos the man in the relationship" regardless as to what relationship, its nerris. nerris is always the man in the relationship

nerris is a heavy sleeper. they've slept through various storms and generally loud events and haven't woken up once because of it. she's able to sleep anywhere too, regardless of discomfort.

nerris is easily embarassed by any type of affection from literally anyone. someone could give them a hug and they'd sputter and not know how to react. because of this, her usual way of showing affection is through indirect compliments and headbutts/light punches. when tired, they're more open to showing affection.

for some reason, she rarely gets sick. her entire family could be sick with the flu, and she'd be perfectly fine. when they DO get sick, it's usually pretty bad.

nerris doesn't like showing physical pain. they're the character in the movie that gets stabbed and hides it for some reason. they have a 'i'll tough through it' mentality. this applies to everything, and often leads to more harm in the long run.

she disragards all warnings of "do not eat X with your braces". popcorn, gum, all of it she's eaten with braces.

nerris only likes vanilla ice cream. she is called basic by everyone because of this.

nerris has a black cat named salem. they have a little blue cape outfit for her, and calls salem their familiar.

nerris idolizes ered, mostly because they want to be cool. at school, she's often bullied for her interest in DND (and probably their glasses/braces, because kids are like that), and wants to learn to be cool.

nerris loves baking shows, and on christmas eve, they binge christmas baking shows with their mother. their favorite christmas tradition is making christmas cookies.

nerris and her dad are big on halloween and conventions, and both enjoy dressing up for them. nerris' dad has always been big into DND, and he calls nerris his "little sorceress".

nerris reads fantasy novels a lot. when they were younger, they were obsessed with the magic treehouse. now, they've moved onto harry potter, percy jackson, and narnia.

nerris is secretive about their feelings, good or bad, and tends to hide them from others. they get defensive when asked about their feelings. she hates feeling vulnerable, though as she gets older she allows herself to be more open.

nerris at first despised harrison, partially because of jealousy of his magic. but after a while, they started to respect one another. doesn't stop them from bickering like toddlers whenever they see each other.

nerris goes to preston for ideas for their campaigns.

after inviting harrison and preston to join their campaign, nerris bickered with harrison about how he couldn't be 'Harrison the Magical', because she was the most magical of the two. eventually, they relented and let harrison have the title.

internally, they feel bad about calling harrison a dwarf, but they'd sooner die than admit it.

nerris was really sad for the first few days after camp ended, so her parents decided to see if they could get in contact with her friends. preston and harrison, thankfully, lived nearby, and dolph and nikki weren't that far away.

nerris has trouble accepting compliments/gestures of affection. they self implode and bluescreen.

nerris' favorite color is blue, and outside of camp it's the color they mostly wear, mixed with purple.

when nerris does show direct gestures of affection, they're usually embarassed the entire time and insist that they still hate whoever they're being affectionate towards.

tsundere nerris? nah. nerris is the most dense motherfucker ever.

nerris collects board games and bottlecaps. they have a glass jug of bottlecaps on their bookshelf.

nerris loves the choose your own adventure series.

nerris and harrison will often have duels in nerris' backyard with foam swords, and force preston to be the judge of who wins.

nerris, dolph, and nikki will go on adventures that sometimes last hours long and return home covered in dirt and leaves. nerris' mother is always concerned and worries if nikki and dolph are bad influences.

nikki, dolph, and nerris went on a camping trip together with their families. nikki's mother and nerris' mother did not like each other.

when taking walks, nerris will drop whatever she's doing if she sees someone walking their dog. they always ask to pet it no matter what, and instantly their mood is lightened by dog.

nerris had a dog when she was younger, a golden retriver named aslan (after the lion from narnia, he was named by nerris' dad before nerris had read narnia). the dog died when nerris was 11, which was when they decided to get into narnia.

okay, so, the only two kids that I can think would live in a specific state is Nurf because the license plate he had that his mom made vaguely looks like it says California in the episode Culture Day, and Preston gives me New Yorker vibes

City/urban kids: Max knows his way around the city, Preston would absolutely be a new yorker, also maaaaybeee Nerris? Like, I can see them at least visiting the city frequintley with their dad for work reasons

Country/rural kids: Nikki, Tabii (I'm not doing the other scouts, but Tabii is ABSOLUTELY a trailer park princess you can NOTTTTT prove me otherwise.), Space Kid gives me the vibes of a kid who spends spring break at their meemaw's cottage, Nurf might live in a mobile home or trailer park, too

I feel like Ered has to move around a lot because of her parents work, and has lived basically everywhere around the world. Dolph, being a millitary kid, canonically also moves around a lot, stating he was born on a german millitary base on Parent's Day.

Suburbs: NEIL X2, parents are divorced but they both live in the suburbs, Space Kid would probably live in a more upper class suburbs because of his family. Harrison probably lives in the suburbs too, but, like, in a cul-de-sac outside of the woods.

Ok I've been thinking about the cast of captain laserhawk and it's keeping bugging me cuz they dont have a canon age in the show and I have some hcs and want to talk about it

So I'm gonna start with Rayman since he's the one that is more difficult to get the age, and I'm gonna say. This man is OLD. Yeah I know, people though and think that he's like 40 or something?? And I understand why but he's more old than that and I'm gonna tell why

So like first of all he's been alive since eua existed, and since the beginning of the series they talk about how it's been a long time since eua became Eden, so yea, Idk how long it was but it probably been some decades.

I gonna use Sarah as an example cuz she was a kid and Eden already existed plus Rayman already did his shows, also Marcus was like 20 or something back there I think??? And when he appears again nowadays he looks old (probably 65?? Idk)

And also there's the fact that Rayman don't age, that's one of the reasons he became Eden's star

I think that he's like between 60-70 or something cuz he's been alive since before Eden existed plus I'm using Marcus as an example because his one of the only people that was more close to have lived in the eua before (the other one is Sarah's dad but he died soo)

Gonna talk about Bullfrog now cuz he's another one with the same thing going on

So we all know he's younger than Rayman (cuz of that one line "when I was your age" when Ramon and Bullfrog talked) and some people think that he's 18??? Which doesn't make sense like yes he's younger but not THAT younger

I saw that you turn into an assassin when you become 23, so he has to be at least 23 but by the looks and how much experience he shows to have, I think he would be like 27 at least (the same goes to Jade but I gonna talk about that in a minute)

Also quick talk rn but I don't really ship Rayfrog like yes it's cute but bcs of my hcs my mind can't let me and plus they talked just once, but I don't mind who shipp it and I respect it since everyone has their hc about them, and this being another reminder that this is just how I see the characters I can just talking bullshit if the creators decide to tell us about their canon ages

Moving on! Jade, so as I said before I think she would be in the same boat with bullfrog since she looks and acts young but not that much?? And plus they seem to be closer (as close as you can say when you know a person for like 2 days) so they probably have the same age

QM let him stay at camp since he couldn't go back into society like ... this gwen , mummy - got tangled in some wires at her dad's show and she died when a speaker fell on her. her dad held a funeral for her , but she woke up in sleepy peak after it. cj , vampire - died from supplement overdose , something to do with his red blood cells idk he's a vampire now QM , goblin - he was born this way cameron campbell , human - didn't die ! max , zombie - died in the middle of the night when a car ran him over. they didn't see him on the road neil , ghost - died while having a terrible panic attack which led to a heart attack nikki , werewolf - died when she got lost in the woods and a pack of wolves ripped her apart ( she put him a good fight ) harrison , wizard - died in an illusionist trick , he got cut in half

nerris , elf - died in a larping accident , someones staff fell on their head and they died on impact preston , siren - drowned in a lake while preforming his 'one-man-one-lake' show ered , stone golem - died in a awesome extreme rock climbing incident dolph , werepup - died when a german police dog ate him ( he's a pup not a wolf because he didn't put up a fight ) nurf , centaur - horse ran him over idk space kid , alien - got abducted by aliens and he died when they experimented on him
