In "Tryptich" we heard Future Kevin say that the future was desolate and he'd been alone for many years. What happened to Charles and Donovan??

It doesn't seem like people really age in the Otherworld. I wonder if Charles took Donovan somewhere else so he could grow up. I wonder if Kevin stayed behind because he couldn't bring himself to leave his home again. It's been a century of their time, which is plenty of time for that to happen. What if Carlos gets there and Kevin is completely alone?

kevin alternating between being violently overprotective over donovan and distancing himself from him as much as possible bc on one hand kevin is terrified he'll be just like his father when parenting so he is as self-sacrificing as possible to ensure donovan never has to go through any pain at all and he blames himself for any and all tiny mistakes but on the other hand he's terrified donovan will turn out to be like kevin because kevin is helping raise him so he tries to not interact with charles or donovan as much as possible and he blames himself for any and all tiny mistakes.

it gets a little overshadowed by his following line but Kevin choosing to sit "criss cross apple sauce" in front of the boy and saying "Put the knife down, little one" in a voice that even Cecil notes as gentle is so cute

I like to think now days Kevin is fine with Cecil. He had time to think, he understands why Cecil lied, them being soo similar before means he would have done the same for his comunity sake and his only other reason to dislike Cecil was jealousy and he moved on. I think Cecil is still akward around Kevin. Mostly because he feels guilty and also because he never met Kevin after Strex. But I do think they could slowly be friends or be on friendly terms at least.

On the other hand I think after being abandoned and specially after getting a heathy relationship Kevin would HATE Carlos. Both for leaving and because now he can see he was never anything but "replacement Cecil", Carlos was his only real support for ten years and he never truly though of Kevin as a friend. He left and never came back. He didn't even said goodbye in person. Not only that but since Cecil doesn't even know they were friends is likely Carlos just sort off accidentaly ghosted Kevin the whole time Cecil was visiting the Desert Otherworld. Carlos would akwardly try to mend things but I don't know if he would suceed. Specially not if he still wanted to keep the ten years thing a secret from Cecil at the same time.

On a third point. It would be soo funny if Cecil and Charles sorta bonded. Charles has no clue of the whole akwardness (max and this is purely hc he has a petty academic dispute with Carlos) and Cecil and Kevin are mending things and they just talk and become friends. That or Donovan and Esteban become friends (my beloved headcannon) or even both and Carlos and Kevin have to deal with being constantly around each other and having to pretend they aren't in bad terms for the kids sake/because Cecil can be soo oblivous when he wants to

the topic of kevin having been a parental figure before and then losing that child to strex being a sensitive topic in his and charles's relationship and charles worrying that kevin will have worse mental health if he's with donovan and then charles coming home late one night to find kevin like. singing donovan a lullaby or smthn and its the first time hes heard kevin sing and he looks a little tired and distant but his voice is steady and his hands aren't shaking and he looks happy.

No Kevin yet, it looks like, but I continue to be delusional and wonder if The Boy is Donovan somehow

And it looks like this'll be a Carlos-heavy episode anyway!!!! So I am still hyped!!!!!

Re: the Boy's monologue: okay, lots to unpack here!

Half of what he says is incredibly vague, the other half is just plain confusing

The mother thing kinda makes Donovan much less plausible, but it's possible he had a mother in his life before Charles met Kevin????

I can't really think of any connections to other plot points in this world? The Dark Planet Lit by No Sun maybe? "True name of God" makes me think The Obelisk and Susan Willman? Or is The Boy just a completely new thing they're introducing out of nowhere??? I am so lost

Either way I'm still clinging desperately to the Donovan theory!!! Anyways great ep even though (because??) it drove me insane
