I used to jump up and down several steps at a time even as many as nine step holding onto the hand rails. After recovering from inflamed Bakers Cyst over 18 months of therapy I didn’t expect to injure myself so easily. The injury won’t stop me from trying. The irony of when it happened I was just returning from a double appointment treating left shoulder and left fragile heal plate that has made walking 🚶‍♀️ very uncomfortable over the past two months but I felt was on my way to these injuries being healed. So I feel quite a klutz doing this. For the past hour have been resting my knee wrapped in a towel of ice. Sadly adrenaline meant I could carry on walking 🚶‍♂️ without feeling the effects of the injury. It was only an hour later when the adrenaline had worn off my knee became very sore. I’m likely to have to rest up for the rest of the week. Only bothered if I’ve done more permanent damage because my whole leg is beginning to seize up. One thing my father has always taught me was to never forget where I came from. He meant it in several aspects, but mainly your journey through life. Use your successes to get even better but most importantly to use your failures to grow and in the right way. To remember the people that gave you a chance and helped you along the way. To be humble and to always stay hungry. To realize that you are never “there” and there is always room for improvement. And to never slight anyone on your journey. It was and still is such a valuable lesson that I live by. Never forget that journey and the path taken, because when the success starts happening you can smile and say the road there was worth it. But still remember you have more traveling to do. Especially now, to be indifferent to the injustices going on in the world is something that cannot be tolerated. While it is intimidating and overwhelming to think of how you can be involved in fighting oppression, that doesn't mean you should be complacent. Start off small, knowing that any contribution is one more step closer to where we need to be. Not everyone can or needs to be on the front lines of the revolution.
