Finally finished with updating the notes for the IDW Imperious (from @cuppajj) and Quick Search (my boy) story and felt like shareing some stuff.
It's just the sticky-note and Imperious pages, but hey, there's a small plot relevant thingy in here.
(The cool part about the notebook is the hard cover, the galaxy sparkles and the sides of the pages are silver.)
So, yea, when I say "I'm gonna get my notebook" when IDW Imperious related stuff comes up, this is the notebook.

We all love tattoo artist Eddie, but consider tattoo artist Steve.
He has an American Robin perched on a trumpet on his bicep for Robin. He gave her a brightly colored ice cream cone on her shoulder in different shades of pink. She rambled about cultural tattoos and the history of tattoos in America when she wasn’t bitching at him (‘Ow! For the love of all that is holy, Dingus!’ ‘Do you need a break?’) the whole time he was doing it.
He finds one of the kids (Max) attempting a stick n poke and gathers them all around for a lecture on safety and cleanliness. He promises the kids he’ll tattoo them for free when they’re old enough.
He and Will have art sessions where they’ll pick a subject and draw it traditionally and then Steve gives him pointers on how he would make the design better for tattooing. Will ends up apprenticing with Steve when he turns 18.
Steve still wears blue jeans and polos. His work is good enough that his customers don’t give a shit how he dresses.
He’s compassionate about coverups. He knows what it’s like to have changed so much that who you once were doesn’t fit anymore.
He’s very versatile, switching between outlines, black and grey shading, subtle highlights, and bold coloring with ease. He can do cartoon work as well as he can do realistic plants, or big cats, or lettering (he checks the spelling five or more times. He’s never messed up, but it’s one of his biggest fears). He has a whole list of referrals from people who like how he does scales. He’s lost count of how many fish, dragons, and snakes he’s done. He’s comfortable with a lot of styles, but he doesn’t do portraits. When Will starts at the shop he excels at portraits. Steve’s happy he’s found his niche.
Steve’s at a tattoo expo to network and check out new techniques when he finds himself stopping to watch an artist doing a tattoo of a demon. The artist has long, dark hair pulled back in a ponytail, and a grin like sunshine, and manages to make something grotesque and beautiful at the same time. Steve checks out the guy’s portfolio and sees a lot of fantasy stuff, dragons and wizards and a familiar looking set of dice, and he knows he has to go grab Will from the food court.

My last remaining hope for asa's recent characterization about her sudden unthoughtfulness (from a character who trait is overthinking) and extreme adaptation to the point of comformity has to do with famine's influence. Ever since she started working for the church asa has become indifferent and apathetic toward kiga actions as well the consequences of hers. Only last chapter asa reacted against yoru but that quickly brushed aside without further conflicts between them like an expected breaking point in their trust for each other. Who would accept on keep on living inside the same mind as her assaulter? who not only hurt you but the person you love?
In moments of huge revelations asa doesn't bother to think much about them: a initial reaction and she still keeps on working for the church/kiga, and well she doesn't reflect on her romantic conflicted feelings for denji/CSM. The guy who dumped you and, due to it, pushed you to suicide, is the same who save you and you been dedicating your life to...
One may say this is the result of character development due falling devil arc, but "progression" shouldn't feel this negative, plain and out of screen. Maybe it has to do with a trauma response but that option requires more work and time to elaborate on it. Either asa is just sadly getting eclipsed by denji to give him the maximun attention writting-wise, or she's been influenced by something else in the story. Like nobana said, after all she went through it's not normal to be this normal. Suddently, asa has become a fami-like person.
She has become less a human and more an animal who just accept anything coming to her. Losing her roof, personal belongings (important things like her mom memories) and her right arm, that just happened. Devils(!) aren't capable of feeling pain or sadness, quoting Barem. Isn't that just... tragically boring on purpouse? A case of devilhood where for denji is bloodlust and for asa is apathy at cruelty?
Maybe Asa has already starved and kiga molded her into her doll without no one noticing, and next on the list is Denji.

I had the weirdest possible Check Please dream.
Ngozi was going to do another volume, and we were all excited because Shippy and Taylor were finally going to get together.
Who tf are Shippy and Taylor you might ask?
Shippy, I immediately realized upon waking up, is Tater, but in this dream world somehow he got a different nickname and I don’t even know how. Idk if my brain was just like “he’s part of this popular ship and I’m lazy” or “Tater and Taylor would sound too cutesy and I really want this girl to be named Taylor for some reason” or what.
Taylor was not Vanessa with a different name. She had spiky lavender hair that looked a bit like this animal crossing hairdo:
But longer, like if it were lying flat it’d be about chin length, and of course in Ngozi’s drawing style.
I didn’t find out much more bc I woke up due to my husband getting up to get ready for work, but somehow when I got back to sleep, for once my brain deigned to continue my dream from before. It is apparently very invested in Shippy/Taylor (although after I woke up and realized Shippy was Tater my brain went back and forth between the two names).
So in the continuation, I learned that Taylor was already dating another member of the Falconers (I’m not sure I ever got his name), but he was very controlling and emotionally abusive and everyone on the team was hoping she’d leave him and kind of shunning the boyfriend socially due to his behavior.
Tater ran into her in like… a mall food court sort of location? And somehow their conversation led to him confessing his feelings but saying that it was fine if she didn’t want to be with him, just begging her to leave the controlling guy and saying he’d help her however he could just as her friend. She was clearly not quite ready to leave yet, but then her boyfriend called and when she said oh I’m at the mall and I ran into Tater so we were just hanging out he got really pissed that she was hanging out with another guy (in a totally public location, and being honest about it) without him and demanded she come home right away. And when she hung up you could see that having that conversation right after the conversation with Tater was kind of making her realize that she really did need to get out of it.
Tater saw that too and jumped on it, like “If you don’t want me to help I’ll call Jack and Bitty (which my brain then corrected to Zimmboni and Little B, it was like my brain was like helloooo this is Tater unlike you Ngozi would write him correctly) right now and they will come help you get your stuff, you can stay in their guest room, they would love to help.” And she was kind of mortified by this, like oh god does the entire team know??? And he was like, well. Yeah. Kinda. Everyone’s rooting for you to leave him, that’s why nobody talks to him or hangs out with him outside practice, we all know how awful he is. And she was like oh god, great, everyone knows how stupid I am for staying with a guy like him, but Tater was like no no no everyone knows how hard it is to leave that kind of thing but we all know you’re strong enough to do it as soon as you decide you’re ready.
And that was about as far as I got in the Shippy/Taylor saga before I woke up for good. I can only assume Jack and Bitty did come get her and let her stay with them, and eventually once she was over the nasty breakup she got together with Tater.
What’s really funny was that when I went to start writing this post I couldn’t remember her name, only that it started with a T and was like 6-ish letters long. I started the post calling her Tricia and was like no that’s not right, so I googled girl names that start with T and was just hoping that if I read enough lists of names something would click and maybe I’d recognize it if I saw it. Then I opened the first list and the very first name was Taylor and I was like OH RIGHT MY BRAIN NAMED HER AFTER TAYLOR FUCKING SWIFT HOW DID I FORGET THAT??

What if when baby inklings and octolings are babies, they have suction cups on their palms/tentacles, that they walk around, and the suction cups help them stick to their parents
Yess I think they do! I like to think they're born with just 4 limbs (which are the primary arms and legs) but they already have suckers since they're a major tool in movement and exploring and interacting with the world in general. (Grabbing things, grabbing onto their parents, tasting things, scratching or suckering onto evil animal that tries to eat it, moving... whatnot)
Then when they grow and their limbs develop into clearer shapes, the suckers will reposition and bunch together. So squishies (children) can grab things and manipulate objects just fine for the majority of their childhood, just hand-specific motor skills aren't something they can do until they actually have elongated fingers...
So what actually happens when the hands start developing structure is the suckers settling into a balanced pattern, after which they start protruding and growing more elongate stalks ("the fingers").
It's a pretty slow process, and most of the suckers stay joined together for a pretty long time still until they grow out, but the first finger to grow out and separate tends to be the thumb, which gives squishy hands the "mitten" effect.
Of course, when the development process is complete (typically in the preteen years), the suckers are the basis for hands!

what is 1994 estonia? (Gen, interested)
You've activated my trap card, I'm afraid. '1994 Estonia' refers to the September 28th, 1994 sinking of the passenger ferry MV Estonia in the Baltic Sea. Out of the 989 people on board, 852 died, and 137 survived.
As previously stated, my offputting special interest is disasters, and I've probably done more research on this specific disaster than any of my other "favorites". To me there are a couple of things that are particularly horrifying about this sinking, and to explain I'm going to do a little compare and contrast between the Estonia and a much more famous wreck - the RMS Titanic.
Details under the cut. If you don't want to read a detailed description of why this sinking was so awful, please don't click.
The first piece of the horror to me is the fatality rate. When Titanic sank, around 68% of the people on board were killed, and women and children had a reasonably high survival rate. This is undeniably horrific. On the Estonia, however, the fatality rate was closer to 86%, and very few women, children, or elderly people survived. There are a couple of reasons for this, which I'll go into a few bullet points down. They include:
The cause of the sinking. Titanic got in a fight with an iceberg and lost, resulting in a series of ruptures along the hull line and progressive -- but predictable -- flooding. Estonia, on the other hand, was what's known as a roll-on, roll-off ferry, meaning that the bow of the ship is able to lift up in order to allow cars and trucks to drive on at one port and drive off at their destination. During a storm the night of September 28th, 1994, the bow of the ship took such a beating from the waves that it came loose and fell completely off. This caused catastrophic and unpredictable flooding in the ship's hold.
The list. If you've seen the movie, you know that while the bow of Titanic eventually lifted out of the water, it didn't develop much of a list -- a tilt to one side or the other. When Estonia's hold flooded, it took on a significant list to starboard (tilted sharply to the right). Imagine you're staying at a hotel, hanging out in your room. Then, without warning, your room tilts sideways. Now the floor of your room is at a 30-degree angle. Objects in your room have fallen over, or fallen onto you. You're disoriented and possibly injured, but you decide that it's time to get out of your room, and out of the hotel, as quickly as possible. But with every passing second, the tilt of the floor beneath you continues to increase. Think about how quickly your environment would become difficult or impossible to navigate. Now imagine that while this is happening, you're surrounded by 988 people who are also trying to escape. How fast do you think you'd be able to get out? On the Estonia, escape to the outer decks was only possible for the first 5-10 minutes of the sinking. Anyone who was inside the ship past that point went down with it.
The conditions inside. Making it out to the deck of the Estonia required quick reaction time, even quicker movement, and a lot of arm strength. When the ship listed, it rendered the staircases impossible to use normally, and people who survived had to pull themselves up along the rails. Most people couldn't. Survivors reported panic among the passengers, as well as seeing people who were injured and in need of help, but being unable to help without losing their own lives. To me, the one of the most haunting stories from this aspect of the sinking is one of a man who was helping his girlfriend and parents to escape. When they realized they couldn't pull themselves up the stairs, they ordered him to save himself -- and he did.
The conditions outside. While Titanic sank on a relatively calm night, Estonia sank in the middle of a storm, which meant the weather conditions were a threat to the people who were able to escape the interior of the ship. The list made it impossible to launch most of the lifeboats, and while there were life rafts, some of them didn't inflate properly. Many people ended up in the water with nothing but a life-jacket, and some survivors went without. It took several hours for help to arrive, and in that time, many people drowned or succumbed to their injuries.
The time. It took Titanic almost two hours to sink -- time for people to escape, time for the band to play, time for those who couldn't escape to accept their fates in whatever way was possible for them. The Estonia sank in 35 minutes.
To sum it up, while more people died in the Titanic sinking, a passenger or crewmember on the Estonia had a much lower chance of survival, due to the nature of the sinking and the speed at which it occurred.
Part of what draws me to this particular disaster is that it combines so many of my greatest fears. Drowning, being trapped in a small space (such as a cabin), not having enough time to escape but having more than enough time to know I was going to die. Something else is the sheer number of obstacles survivors had to overcome in order to escape, and just how many chances there were for things to go wrong. And then there's the question -- if you're with a loved one, and only one of you has the ability to escape, do you stay or go? The Estonia sinking is my worst nightmare, and I come back to it over and over again, hoping I can learn something that will make it less senseless, less bleak, less flatly and inescapably horrific. I haven't found it yet.
Thank you for the ask. If you've read this far, I very much apologize for ruining your afternoon.
