Jim Carrey’s Robotnik is definitely a really interesting character study:

He was an orphan without any family, was bullied at school which caused him to fight back, and spent his years studying and learning until he could build the perfect machines to do what man can’t.

He developed a hate for humanity and thus favors machines because they are more efficient and take orders without push-back; the only person he trusts is Agent Stone, but even then he treats him like he’s nothing to him even though he helps the doctor without question.

Eventually he is defeated by Sonic and sent to the mushroom planet where he is with no one but a rock that looks like Stone. This was a really fitting scenario because it parallels Sonic’s story where he started out alone, but gained friends and a family.

Robotnik would eventually then escape the mushroom planet with the help of Knuckles, and in tern ends up using him just to get his hands on the Master Emerald.

After his betrayal, Knuckles joins Sonic and they work together to defeat Robotnik, showing the power of friendship over Robotnik’s constant need to not make friends and only use people (even Stone who still helps him despite everything that has happened).

In a deleted scene from the 3rd movie, it showed that after the defeat of the Death Egg Robot, he found Robobnik, rescued him and nursed him back to health which again continued to show how much Stone cared for the doctor, of course Robotnik continues to treat him poorly.

After that Ivo meets his grandfather Gerald Robotnik and finally gets a chance to have an actual family for once which doesn’t make him less evil but shows what he was missing.

Stone realizes there was more to Gerald and Shadow’s plan and tried to warn Ivo, but he continues to push Stone away like he always does. Of course Ivo does find out what Gerald was planning which was to destroy Earth along with themselves, Ivo tried to convince him not to and even made a point about how he has a family now, but Gerald disregarded him even telling him he will never be like what Maria was to him.

Ivo then went out of his way to sacrifice himself in order to stop the eclipse canon from destroying Earth with it’s laser and self destruction, and as he’s doing so sends out a message to Stone apologizing for always treating him poorly showing that in those last few moments Ivo finally realized the purpose of friendship and companionship, something he wanted from his grandfather but didn’t get.

I gotta hand it to Fowler, he really cooked with Robotnik’s character in these movies.

thinking about sonic 1 and this has probably been said 1000000 times but the progression of events of robotnik failing embarrassingly at catching sonic -> him looking genuinely haunted because he didn’t win -> stone pointing out that sonic and tom keep getting away -> robotnik blowing up at stone and telling him that he doesn’t mean anything to him and neither does anybody else is sooooo interesting

like. I Won’t Miss You When You’re Gone I Hate Humanity All I Need Are My Machines doesn’t really make sense as an immediate response to stone acknowledging that robotnik hasn’t managed to catch sonic yet UNLESS robotnik is adding an implied ‘i now think less of you for failing at this’ to what stone said that wasn’t actually there, & he’s doing the defense tactic of pushing someone away when you think they’re going to leave you so you can stay in control

i have no idea if this was intentional or not but he phrases what he says in that scene in a way that sounds less like he’s saying ‘i’m going to fire you and i won’t feel bad about it’ and more like ‘i’m definitely not going to be upset when you quit’. which implies that he thinks stone will actually see him as a loser and not want to work for him anymore after one ☝️ unsuccessful hedgehog catching day. he does not expect to be liked at all & even less to be able to fail at something and still be liked AND the only time he does let down his guard and believe someone cares about him (apart from the livestream scene! though i do think there’s no way he gets that stone is Literally In Love With Him yet) and thinks there’s potential for a good relationship is with Gerald. who actually for real does not like or value him and in fact lures him into space so that they can blow up the world and also both kill themselves. i need to buy a gun

Amy's not showing up... and that's okay.

For the sake of getting a great third installment with cohesive storytelling and engaging plot, I accept the fact that it's highly unlikely that Amy, Rouge, or anyone else beyond Shadow will show up in Sonic Movie 3.

Believe me, I was SHOOK (and a little bitter) at first when they introduced Shadow before Amy. But after watching that trailer, I can see that they know exactly what they're doing. It makes total sense. With the story that they're trying to tell, Amy would stick out like a pink, sore thumb! This is Shadow's story. It's his turn. This movie already has a lot on his plate as it is. To couple that with Amy's introduction and backstory would be a bit overwhelming. It would do her a great disservice by making her a "third wheel" and I don't want that for her. We're lucky that they were able to pull it off with Tails and Knuckles in Sonic Movie 2 lol.

One of the things I admire most about this franchise is the way that tell each character's story and how connected they are! Everyone's lives were greatly impacted all because a blue little hedgehog was sent through a ring portal to Earth. From the Wachowskis to Robotnik to Tails and Knuckles... even Rachel!

If Amy is going to be anywhere within the Sonic Cinematic Universe, I want her pressence to enhace the story and make sense rather than excessive fan service. I want her story to be just as important,

thoughtful,

powerful,

and necessary

as everyone else's.

It's what she deserves. 🩷🦔

BES fandom… what if i presented to you all a really weird (but i loved it with all my heart) fanfic idea?

Here it goes: what if Victor (Phantasmo’s past life) encountered Mizu in London…?

Yes, yes… i know, crazy right? Because, like, the years wouldn’t match and we don’t even know for a fact that Victor is a Londoner! (He’s probably British but i don’t know if he is a Londoner)

I’m saying this because one: (i desperately want more people for the Telltown fandom to talk to) someone sent me (they prefer to stay anonymous because they’re shy) this drawing of Fluffpillow:

And let’s be honest: this original concept of Victor with blue eyes reminded me very much of Mizu, don’t this reminds you all of Mizu?

Now, now: i’m not saying that Victor is Mizu’s father (I haven’t gotten that crazy hahaha… yet…) but i thought that it would be funny as hell if Mizu encountered him and kept staring at him and followed him along with Fowler until he politely asked: “is… everything alright with you miss…? Do you need something…?”

Giving a bombastic side eye to Aardman's website every time they tell updates about the upcoming Chicken Run: Eggstraction mobile game

Because on one hand I'm excited because YAY MORE CHICKEN RUN CONTENT, esp since they had Nick Park as a consultant and mentioned that the game is gonna expand on the Chicken Run universe's world. And its gonna be inspired by the good old PS1 Chicken Run game!!

But at the same time it's apparently set directly after the events of Chicken Run 2. And as yall may already know, I reaaally disliked how they wrote Mrs Tweedy in the sequel (I LOVE HER cuntiness and how she is so prideful about her wealth LOL slay queen. but they really flanderized and simplified her character compared to the original movie, and turned her super onedimensional. Plus they clearly had never even opened the Chicken Pies For The Soul sidebook, which tells her backstory and expands on her broken psyche)

So I'm gonna assume they're gonna keep going with Sequel Melisha, and I'm rubbing my temples like GHHHHHHFJDJDJ

I do hope Mrs Tweedy will appear in the game, but I feel like in the worst case scenario it's gonna be lowpoly cgi Sequel Melisha spewing cheesy villain one liners like "well well what do we have here" or some shit LOL

I will of course check the game out when it arrives!! Especially since it seems like it's gonna have some sort of character customization, and I'm like HELL YEAH ive always wanted to be a chicken war criminal

Honestly, the fact that Agent Stone became such an impactful character for the Sonic Movie canon is insane.

We know that Agent Stone was intended to be a throwaway side character, quite literally just an extension and accessoire to Dr Robotnik for him to express his character with. Agent Stone didn’t matter, he was there to enhance your impression of Dr Robotnik and his personality.

I mean look at this, in the first movie, there are clearly other Agent-like characters following Robotnik everywhere he goes. Not military, Agents. Those are ALL supposed to be Robotnik’s agents.

Even if they are not directly under his command, they are „with him“, his entourage for at least the first half of the movie before they all, including Agent Stone, disappear when Robotnik goes off to do his own thing (destroying that hedgehog).

For all we know in the vacuum of the first movie, Agent Stone and Bot never met before the day this movie takes place and Stone just happens to be assigned to personal bodyguard duty on that particular day. The point is that Agent Stone could have just vanished after the first movie and a good chunk of the general audience for these movies wouldn’t have minded at all.

But Jim Carrey was like „Hey, Jeff, I like this guy, he’s a great counterweight for my character, I think we should expand his role.“ and a few of us from the audience said „Hey, Jeff, we like that fruity assistant guy, we think he and Robotnik should kiss.“ and Jeff said „I agree“. And now Agent Stone is Robotnik’s only real friend and he got his own action figure.
