"HEY RED!! LOOK AT THIS!" He went over to his friend with a grin on his face and a big lump of Calcite in his hands. But not just any Calcite!
"Look at this Dragon Scale Calcite!"
It was black, spiky and looked like the scales of a large arbok or a small Charizard! Either way he seemed pretty happy about it.
"I know they're pretty common around some areas but I've never seen one form near the coast. You want it?" he asked ready to hand it over.
The rock really does look JUST like dragon scales! Red holds both hands out immediately to receive it and rub his thumbs up the sides. Charizard ate deposits of this stuff regularly to augment his diet with calcium.
It really is a cool rock.
[Yeah. I'll put it on my shelf. Thanks for thinking of me. You find this right here?]
Red sets his backpack down to fish through it and make room for the new curio.
[I have a skull for you. I'm still working on it though.]

The King in Yellow
The outer god known as the King in Yellow is, like all other outer deities, an unknowable being of immense power. He is an aspect of Hastur, meaning that the King in Yellow was formed from Hastur as a part of himself, but is an independent deity. As stated in the introduction to the outer gods, the outer deities are not evil beings but are usually neutral in morality and typically do not care much for humans. The outer gods all formed within the Void and are larger than all the planets of the Universe combined. They are also immensely powerful and help guide the process of evolution in Creation.
Appearance: The King in Yellow tends to show himself as a very tall humanoid figure wearing a hooded yellow cloak and a mask called the Pallid Mask. Sometimes he also has tentacles coming from his lower body. He has countless other forms, however, but is always associated with yellow and does not show a face.
The most well-known account of this greater god is documented in Ambrose Bierce's short story “An Inhabitant of Carcosa” (1886) when he had unknowingly connected to this world and wrote about it, believing it to be imagination. However, the King in Yellow truly is the king of Carcosa and is connected to the planet itself since his essence flows through it. When the citizens of Carcosa had, in their arrogance, believed Carcosa to be their own instead of being allowed to them by the King in Yellow, they were punished for their hubris. Their planet suddenly turned still, leaving their two suns motionless in the sky. But at the same time, places and buildings began changing location at random, making it nearly impossible to meet with particular people, such as friends and family. The lands became unrecognizable; otherworldly and full of mists, and every mirror showed grotesque images of terror. The people of Carcosa were driven insane by all this, and many ended their lives. But even then, their bodies did not decompose. Nor could anyone die from old age. For the rest, they accepted their new way of existing; embracing their madness and the haunting mysteriousness of their altered world.
However, the King in Yellow is not a cruel, malicious deity. One should not jump to such conclusions since morality is not the same for every being, and the greater gods tend to have a much more strict sense of justice and believe in severe lessons. And since we as humans are very limited beings, we can never understand the best ways of acting on such a grand scale; such wisdom is beyond us. As the ruler of Carcosa, the King in Yellow was austere but also understanding, showing compassion towards those who were good-natured and respected him. He could usually be seen siting silently on his dark throne, and would speak to others through telepathy.
While the King in Yellow is most well-known for causing insanity, it is by far not the only thing he is capable of. But as for insanity, it is something utilized to be either a blessing or a curse. For those minds that cannot handle certain tears in their “reality”, their minds become broken, unable to handle the overwhelming realizations they’ve been presented with. But for those who are more resilient and adaptable, they become darkly Awakened with their blessed madness, filling their minds with inhuman understandings. But since the vast majority falls into the former description, it is all too easy for the King in Yellow to make horrible madness tear through the minds of those who insult him. Even his presence alone can be overwhelming for many, causing their minds to be stretched past their limits. This happens as a natural effect of being near to him, so I give a word of caution for anyone who wishes to contact him.
The Yellow Sign, his symbol, represents his Will. Those who possess the symbol end up drawing his attention and can sense his energy through the Sign. One known race of beings who serve the King in Yellow are the Shantaks, the dragon-looking eldritch creatures.
As with all forms of spirit work, it is highly unadvisable to commune with spirits if one has psychosis since the experiences can greatly worsen the symptoms. The outer gods can cause this even moreso (whether they try to or not) so please avoid working with them if you have psychosis of any kind.
Offerings: yellow calcite, chrysoberyl, onyx, opal, copper, live black ants, ceremonial bells, pale African lunar masks, objects made from alabaster, rattlesnake skin, yellow linen, mustard, black raisins, figs, dried seaweed, belladonna flowers, weeping willows; incense: jasmine + musk, or amber + musk

Things I Wish I Knew About Collecting
The gem and mineral industry is quite tricky to navigate. There are many scams, misleading info, and tips that people may not know of. I certainly didn’t know them, so hopefully I can teach a few people some things. Even if I don’t, it’s a good reference for myself.
Gemstone Care
Do not leave colored gems in the sunlight for long periods of time. This causes the color to fade and the gems can become brittle.
To wash any dirt or calcium deposits out, use a toothbrush or washcloth soaked in water and soap. For any tough dirt or water-sensitive stones, a sonic cleaner can clean stones without risking damage. It is good to clean stones that you touch or wear frequently.
Gems should be kept separate (or at least uncrowded) when stored, especially with stones of different hardness. If you can’t find any good containers for your stones, tackle boxes can be a good option.
Here is a list of specimens that can and cannot be placed in water. Additionally, metals should generally not be placed in water.
Misnamed Gemstones This is a list of gems with names that imply false information about them, as well as their true names. Here are a few other misnamed gems.
Rainbow Moonstone -> White Labradorite
African Turquoise -> Teal Jasper
White Buffalo Turquoise-> Howlite
Turitella Agate-> Fossil formations
Lavender Rose Quartz-> low quality rose quartz Here is a list gemstones that are either partially or completely manmade, as well as a few others down below:
Dragon’s Breath Opal-> Glass Aura Quartz Crackle Quartz Dragon Vein Agate Siberian Quartz
Fake Gemstones Gemstones are commonly faked or altered. Here are ways to spot fake gemstones: Citrine, Malachite, Turquoise Clear Quartz, Moldavite, Larimar Charoite, Tiffany Stone, Lapis Lazuli Obsidian, Rhodochrosite, Rainbow Calcite, Selenite Rose Quartz, Pink Amethyst, Amethyst
(Please note that the metaphysical aspects mentioned are not something I am endorsing or denying. That is up to personal choice.)
This is a quick guide on the different ways gems can be treated, synthesized, and faked.
This is a guide on spotting dyed stones.
There is nothing wrong with having altered, imitation, or synthetic gemstones if you enjoy them! just do research on what you are buying.
Gem Identification
Gems have unique properties that can be very useful in identifying unknown stones. Here are some tips on identification beyond looking at the color.
Patterns: Make note of the relationship between the stone’s colors. Does it have bands? Are they straight bands or jagged? How about any swirls? How many colors are present on the stone?
Is it transparent, translucent, or opaque? are there certain areas where this changes?
What is the density? does it feel heavy or light in your hand? This is how to figure out the density of water-safe stones.
What does the light do to it? Are there any unique effects in the lighting, such as a sheen or cat’s eye?
How easily does it scratch? You can use the Moh’s hardness scale to check.
Where did it come from?

I have sorted out my desk and it indulges in piracy, it has bones, candles, maps, volcanic rock specimens and a treasure chest filled with Lukas first scan and umbilical cord, because to me, those are my most valuable treasures, him. He is my treasure.
For information about the volcanic pieces, which my friend on her travels brought back to me, as I grew up being obsessed with knowing about volcanos, and once standing on the inside of an extinct volcano myself, I’ll list them here:
Tumblr media
• Biotite
Biotite is a common group of phyllosilicate minerals within the mica group, with the approximate chemical formula K ₃AlSi ₃O ₁₀ ₂. It is primarily a solid-solution series between the iron-endmember annite, and the magnesium-endmember phlogopite; more aluminous end-members include siderophyllite and eastonite.
• Obsidian - Ossidiana
Obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass formed when lava extruded from a volcano cools rapidly with minimal crystal growth. It is an igneous rock. Obsidian is produced from felsic lava, rich in the lighter elements such as silicon, oxygen, aluminium, sodium, and potassium.
• Calcite
Calcite is a carbonate mineral and the most stable polymorph of calcium carbonate.
The Mohs scale of mineral hardness, based on scratch hardness comparison, defines value 3 as "calcite". Other polymorphs of calcium carbonate are the minerals aragonite and vaterite.

• Granite - Granito
Granite is a coarse-grained igneous rock composed mostly of quartz, alkali feldspar, and plagioclase. It forms from magma with a high content of silica and alkali metal oxides that slowly cools and solidifies underground.
• Covellite - Covellina
Covellite is a rare copper sulfide mineral with the formula CuS. This indigo blue mineral is commonly a secondary mineral in limited abundance and although it is not an important ore of copper itself, it is well known to mineral collectors.
• Sulfur - Zolfo
Sulfur is the tenth most common element by mass in the universe, and the fifth most common on Earth. Though sometimes found in pure, native form, sulfur on Earth usually occurs as sulfide and sulfate minerals.
• Pumice - Pomice
Pumice is a type of extrusive volcanic rock, produced when lava with a very high content of water and gases is discharged from a volcano. As the gas bubbles escape, the lava becomes frothy. When this lava cools and hardens, the result is a very light rock material filled with tiny bubbles of gas.
• Tuff - Tufo
A light, porous rock formed by consolidation of volcanic ash.
• Olivine - Olivina
Olivine is the name of a group of rock-forming minerals that are typically found in mafic and ultramafic igneous rocks such as basalt, gabbro, dunite, diabase, and peridotite.
And a vial of pioggia di cenere, or as we know it as, “ash rain/fallout/etc.”.
After all of that, I’ll introduce you to my agate eggs, in a green onyx marble box I managed to acquire awhile ago.
The “keys” on the dragons skull are actually pens, quite a pretty replacement from a regular pen, but I also can use my glass blown ink dipping pen as well if I’m not using usual stationary, which is more than likely but it’s gorgeous to have the ability to write with something a bit fancy in a while.
