Would you be able to write a Goku×Human Reader fic? Maybe some kind of meet-cute where Goku is introduced to the reader? You could also maybe have them meet as children. Tysm! ~blushinggoku
A new training partner - Son Goku x f! Human! Reader
This is my first Dragonball fic so bear with me! I hope I got Goku's character somewhat right :o
Enjoy! @blushinggoku
"Come on Krillin! Show me what you got"
"Of course! Don't underestimate me Goku!"
Son Goku and his long childhood friend Krillin are training together in an open, green field. Its far out in the wild since their training sessions can get very heated and this way, they can't disturb other people and or destroy people's properties. Son Goku, who recently won the martial arts tournament and saved earth from demon King Piccolo, is having the upper hand. His last fights made him a lot stronger and even though Krillin knows that he won't give in easily. He also has his pride as one of Master Roshi's students.
In one swift motion, Goku uses a mismove of Krillin to his advantage and sends him flying. However, it seems that the black-haired fighter has underestimated his own power since the distance grows and grows and doesn't seem to stop anytime soon. Goku's expression scrunches up "Sorry Krillin!" he shouts after him and gets going to see where he went.
Little did they know that there was somebody else who was enjoying the quietness of the nature and the big, open fields for their own training. A young woman focused on the movements of her kicks and punches, her body and mind moving as one. Her eyes lit up as she notices a foreign source of Ki coming closer to her location. Her eyes focus on the direction and before it can hit her, she catches the smaller man and holds him upside down on his ankle.
"W-Woah hey! Let me go!"
He sounded nervous, wriggling around in the woman's iron tight grip.
"Who are you and why did you try to attack me?"
She asks in a strong voice, glaring down at him. Krillin gulps.
"W-What? No No, this is a misunderstanding! I did not try anything! I was about to crash into you because I-”
Before he could explain himself, there was a second source of Ki coming closer. It was on a completely different level, making the woman feel a bit uneasy. Whatever it was, it was strong, but it did not feel hostile.
"Krillin? Are you okay? I didn't mean to throw ya away this hard!"
Goku catches up to his friend and as he sees the situation, he tilts his head in confusion.
"Whos that? Are ya training a new technique or something-?"
"No! Now help me, please!"
Krillin sounds desperate, the blood already getting into his head from hanging upside down for so long. The womans eyes widen a bit.
"Wait, who?"
Her e/c eyes look him up and down. His black spiky hair, the very well-trained physique, the orange Gi and the strong Ki that radiates from him. Now it clicks. She looks down at Krillin, his face started to get pale and his expression screams that he is not feeling good at all. She lets him down carefully and holds up her arms in defense.
"I deeply apologize! I thought your friend wanted to attack me!" she bows down, and her face is tainted in a light, embarrassed blush.
Goku processes her words and then smiles
“No worries! Krillin can take that” he answers with a chuckle.
His best friend lays on the ground, the blood slowly running back into his body
“Y-Yeah..absol..absolutely” he mumbles in a defeated voice.
The fighter stretches his hand out to the woman
“Names Goku by the way! Nice to meet ya!”
He introduces himself with a warm smile. Y/N takes a deep breath and takes his hand, shaking it with a firm grip
“Nice to meet you too, my name is Y/N. I actually heard a lot about you” she answers with a small chuckle.
“Oh really? hope it's nothing bad then!” he answers and then helps his best friend up from the ground.
Krillin shakes his head to regain focus and brushes some dust off his Gi, the smaller warrior looks up to his friend
“Thanks man. I think I was about to pass out” he mumbles the last part quietly to himself.
Y/N shakes her head
“No, no don't worry. I know you from the tournament to be exact. I watched you fight and have to admit that your skills are very impressive.” she answers, a small shy blush makes itself present on her cheeks. It's not that she only watched one fight, she watched all. His fighting style and lighthearted personality caught her interest quickly.
Goku smiles brightly at the compliment and his eyes light up, as he thinks back to the tournament
"It was an amazing experience! There were so many strong opponents to fight. Man..thinking about this makes me feel all pumped up!"
He says energized and Y/N can pick up on his Ki raising slightly, mimicking his excitement for a good fight. Goku then holds his chin, thinking for a moment
"Wait a minute"
He then points at his friend, "Krillin was flying quite fast since i threw him with a lot of force" , his finger moves over to Y/N who starts to get a bit uncomfortable "And you caught him! Means your reflexes are quite good"
Krillin's eyes widen at the statement, and he looks up to the woman
"He's right! Hey Y/N, are you a fighter by any chance?"
Y/N starts to sweat nervously and looks to the side
“A-Ah..uhm..yeah but like I-” she gets cut off by Goku's strong hands gripping her shoulders
“I knew it! Then come, join us in training!” he suggests excited, his dark pupils sparkle “This will get all of us stronger!
Krillin smiles and nods in agreement
"He's right, the more the merrier"
Y/N starts to blush at the sudden contact, her eyes wander over to his toned arms that are gripping her shoulders pleasantly firm. She snaps back to reality quickly, not wanting anyone to notice her nearly drooling over the fighter. She then looks back up into his puppy like eyes. How could she ever say no to his request?
“Okay okay, I'm in! But my level of skill doesn't match yours in the slightest so..I don't know if you guys really benefit from training with me” she answers a bit nervous, avoiding eye contact.
Goku smiles and squeezes her shoulders reassuringly before letting go. Y/N already misses the contact.
“Doesn't matter! Any kind of training will get us stronger so come on, let's get right into it”
Y/N nods and the three of them start to get into a fighting position. The woman is utterly nervous, her limbs shaking a bit. //I have to try my best! No way I will miss this opportunity//
Krillin does not like the thought to fight against a woman at first, but he gets into the mood quickly after seeing how hard Y/N tries and that she surely knows how to throw some good punches. Even against Goku.
Goku smiles brightly and encourages Y/N to try and show some more, hyping her up. He can feel how much potential is hidden inside of her. How she partially blocks her Ki out of nervousness and not believing in herself strong enough. He wants to change that.
After hours and hours of training, Y/N falls onto her knees. Her breathing is heavy, and her body drenched in sweat, an amazing feeling if she is honest with herself.
Goku sits down beside her and smiles “That was great! You are really tough” he compliments her, stretching his limbs to prevent any after-training cramps.
Y/N’s cheeks start to blush in a deep red which is not coming from the exhaustion. Hearing such a compliment from him, a fighter of his skill, is really making her heart race
“T-Thank you..It was a lot of fun to train with you guys” she answers with a warm smile.
Goku stretches his hand out to her and helps her up, giving her hand a light extra squeeze before letting go. He looks down to her
"There is a lot of potential hidden inside you, Y/N. I can feel it!"
Y/N looks questioning at him
"You're limiting yourself through your mind" he taps at her forehead softly "Stop questioning yourself and your abilities and start believing in them! It will help you grow in no time." he adds and smiles warmly at her.
Y/N eyes widen a bit, something about his words tickle her emotions in just the right way. Her chest feels all warm and fuzzy. She looks up to him, his buzzing, strong but gentle Ki radiating of off him. She needs to smile and nods.
"Thank you Goku, your words mean a lot. I will definitely work on that"
Goku grins and lays his arms behind his head lazily
"Im looking forwards to next time already!"
Y/N blinks a few times, a faint blush creeping up on her face again
"Next time?"

Videl's inclusion and integration into the Dragon Team is such a missed opportunity for fun interpersonal dynamics and interactions, what with Toriyama seemingly unable to decide where he wanted the story to go until Boo and Majin Vegeta basically derailed the entire thing.
One moment I keep imagining and can't get out of my head is everyone telling her stories of their adventures, how they met, how they were all kind of awful people when they were young and so on. Yet everyone has more than one moment where they displayed immense courage, loyalty, friendship, honor, selflessness etc.
But then they get to Vegeta. Everyone's kind of used to him now but once they try to think of any positives for the guy, they stop dead in their tracks. Pretend Boo and Majin Vegeta don't happen in this scenario yet. Or at all. Whatever floats your boat.
So they try to downplay how much of a scumbag he was or how he never really earned his place with the group or worked off his bad karma like the others did.
So they try to spin a "he helped when needed" tale more for Bulma's sake than anyone else's.
Piccolo ends up being the only one who tells her like it is and forces Gohan and Krilling to tell her the whole truth regarding Vegeta and what he was/is like.
So the three of them tell her everything. All the horrible stuff he did even when fighting on their side. Videl looks horrified at Bulma and Gohan, asking her how she could boink him and how Gohan can tolerate him after what he put him through.
"Eh, he's alright." he says.
Videl goes home and lays awake in bed in a state of a semi mental breakdown and existential crisis, wondering just what kind of insane group of people she's dealing with.
Bandits, would-be assassins, space pirates, alien demons, shapeshifting animals, fearsome castle lords, cyborgs made by a cooky old geezer from a long gone terrorist army, CEO of Capsule Corp who at 16 shot a 12 your old monkey boy in the head with a pistol with no hesitation, bizarre cat deities that live with lazy fat ronin and perverted martial arts hermits who taught math to his students as part of their training.
On top of learning that there was a literal space Hitler zipping around the galaxy, wiping out entire solar systems and was this close to wiping out Earth if not for a time traveling half alien, half human hybrid.
It's a lot to process and she can't even talk to her dad about it because he's still in denial over what he saw in the old tournaments and during the Cell Games.
Then she learns that the Tournament Announcer is a bit in-the-know and goes to him for information only to find that all he knows is what he witnessed at the tournaments and his knowledge of old martial artists. Then he gives her a history lesson on martial artists like King Chappa, Namu, Giran, Bacterian, the Wolf Man and so on. He helps her deal with all the weird and bizarre shit of the world that she was frighteningly ignorant of.
But will forever have a hard time feeling safe with Vegeta around

Profiles in Villainy Redemption
Vegeta
The prince of the fallen Saiyan race, Vegeta IV is a hero who was forced for a long while to act as a villainous general of the tyrannical galactic overlord known as Freiza.  As a child, Vegeta was bestowed onto Freiza by his father, the then ruler of the Saiyans.  He was given to Freiza as an act of surrender so to spare what few remained of the Saiyan race.  Frieza accepted the child, honing young Vegeta into a powerful top lieutenant and leader of his planet-conquering ‘Frieza Force.’
Regal, egotistical, and full of pride, Vegeta acted as a cold-blooded warrior and outright killer, enforcing Frieza’s dominion across numerous worlds.  This changed after conflicts with a fellow Saiyan on Earth named Goku.  Vegeta was ultimately encouraged to put aside his anger and embrace a peaceful life on earth as an ally to Goku and key member of the Z-Fighters.
Once Freiza was finally vanquished, Vegeta was able to settle down and know a time of peace and happiness.  He married his colleague, Bulma and together they had two children: a son named Trunks and daughter named Bula.   Trunks would go on to become an incredibly powerful warrior himself and it was he who was able to finally destroy Freiza once and for all, avenging the countless Saiyan’s who had died at the despot’s orders.
Actor Ryō Horikawa has provided the voice for the Saiyan prince in the anime; with actors Christopher Sabat and Laura Bailey voicing the character in the English language dubs).  The villain turned hero first appeared in the second episode of the Raditz Saga of the Dragonball Z anime, airing on May 3rd, 1989.

Why I Think Cell is the Most Horrifying DBZ Villain
Frieza remains a silver tier DBZ villain and the Namek arc is still the best arc in DBZ in my opinion. However, in some ways Cell is the more terrifying villain.
Design
Imperfect Cell's design is horrifying and creepy. Whenever I see his face in Youtube videos, I immediately cover my eyes. He is monstrous! I hate cockroaches too so his bug design does not make his imperfect form easier to bear. Yeah, I am a 23-year-old woman, don't judge me!
His Absorption Technique
So almost every villain after Cell had some kind of absorption technique. Buu ate people, Baby was a parasite and Omega Shenrom fused with the other dragon balls. However, Cell's tail is the thing out of nightmares. I don't know how Piccolo could watch with a straight face as Imperfect Cell literally liquified a begging man right in front of him. I will be honest and say that I lost a bit of respect for Piccolo when I watched that scene. Not to mention the scenes where he absorbed Android 17 and 18. Tien even exclaims how revolting Cell's absorption of 17 was. The scene where he absorbed 18 was...interesting. Let's leave it at that. When he powered up to fight Piccolo in his imperfect form, you could see the souls of all the people he devoured. In the sub version, you can hear their wailing moans. Talk about demonic.
Stealth and sneakiness
I think what also makes Cell dangerous is his patience and stealth. He wandered on earth for 4 years without being detected. He ravaged so many towns without the Z fighters catching wind. You never know when he will strike which makes things even more tense. The way he snuck up behind Android 17 to absorb him is still hard to watch. He was running circles around the Z fighters. He made everyone look incompetent.

I'm not going to address the content of this one so much. It's as easy as pointing out they're conflating a feat of technique and skill with a feat of power. Granted, it's still absurd in terms of scaling, especially as this Roshi didn't get inspired by Goku and Krillin training together again to resume his own training, which implies he should have been this deft even in OG Dragon Ball, but I digress.
Tumblr media
No, what I really want to point out is the borderline venom used in describing these events from the Moro arc. It's like, unnecessarily hostile.
Tumblr media
Like Goddang, this almost reads like a fanboy Reddit post. Which, to be fair, Screen Rant probably stole this from in the first place. But... man. Maybe mask your hate for the other human characters just a tiny bit? Maybe?

I TOLD CHATGPT TO WRITE A SYNOPSIS FOR A DRAGONBAL Z X AVENGERS TEAM UP, HERE IT IS..
The Z fighters from Dragonball Z and The Avengers team up to take on the threat of the intergalactic conqueror, Frieza. After a long and grueling battle with the powerful alien, Goku, Vegeta, and Piccolo manage to finally defeat Frieza and his army. However, just as they think the battle is over, Frieza reveals that he has a secret weapon - a device that can open a portal to other dimensions.
With the help of Dr. Strange, the Z fighters and the Avengers are able to follow Frieza through the portal and end up on an alien world. There, they discover that Frieza has allied himself with Thanos and the Black Order, who are also seeking to conquer the universe. The Z fighters and the Avengers know that they must work together if they are to have any hope of defeating this new threat.
The two teams soon realize that Frieza and Thanos have a powerful ally in their quest for power - a being known as Darkseid, who rules over the planet Apokolips. Darkseid's goal is to use the power of the Infinity Stones to destroy all life in the universe and remake it in his own image.
The Z fighters and the Avengers engage in an epic battle with Frieza, Thanos, and their minions, while also trying to prevent Darkseid from obtaining the Infinity Stones. During the battle, several members of both teams are injured, including Goku, Vegeta, Thor, and Iron Man. In a desperate move to turn the tide of the battle, Goku unleashes his most powerful attack, the Spirit Bomb, while Thor channels the power of the Bifrost to strike Frieza with lightning.
The combined attack is enough to defeat Frieza and Thanos, but it is not enough to stop Darkseid. In a final showdown between Darkseid and the remaining members of the Z fighters and the Avengers, several heroes make the ultimate sacrifice to save the universe. Goku and Vegeta, recognizing the danger posed by Darkseid, fuse into Gogeta and unleash their full power in a final attack that destroys Darkseid and saves the universe.
As the battle ends, the remaining Z fighters and Avengers mourn their fallen comrades and vow to continue protecting the universe from threats like Frieza, Thanos, and Darkseid. The team-up has left a lasting impact on both groups, as they realize the importance of working together to protect the universe. They part ways, but with a newfound respect for each other and the knowledge that they will always be ready to help each other in times of need.

DBZ Thoughts: Z Fighters Don't Care About Earthlings As Much as I Thought
So I have been daydreaming about some DBZ scenes and I had a sudden realization: the Z fighters don't really care about the Earthlings much. It's hard to explain my feelings but I will try.
Ignorance is Bliss
I find it a bit distressing how many secrets the fighters keep from the Earth's people. I understand that they are on no one's payroll so they have no obligation to keep Earthlings posted and they deserve their privacy but it's really not fair. They knew the Saiyans were coming and never thought to inform at least King Fury about it. They knew the androids were coming and did not think to inform the government of the island about the possibility of attack. You can make the argument that the Earthlings would not react well or not believe them. But come on. People at the tournaments saw Goku grow a tail, saw him transform into Ozarou, and saw Piccolo and Goku fight. Before they allowed Mr Satan to spread lies, Earthlings were accepting of these so-called light shows. And King Fury knew of Goku's feats. The Earthlings had a right to know about the dangers they faced.
Collateral Damage
Vegeta vs 18. Majin Vegeta. What else is there to say? Vegeta and 18 killed several people in their fight. Vegeta was an arrogant prick at the time so I don't blame him too much. But no one ever criticizes Vegeta for putting civilians in danger. Vegeta is not forced to atone to Bulma for almost killing her when he launched that blast to the stands. Bulma was literally a few feet away from the point of impact! I like to think she and Vegeta had a deep conversation about that when they went home and Vegeta had to make it up to her. But nope, they were wished back to life so Vegeta's actions don't matter! Also Gohan's fight with Cell. Gohan brought the fight so that fat guy was right in front of him. Of course, Gohan saved the Satan screw so he was fine and it showed off his badass moves...but was endangering that guy necessary?? And how could I forget Piccolo literally watching Imperfect Cell drink that poor man right in front of him without the slightest care on his face. Talk about cold. And they had an opportunity to stop Gero before he could hurt anyone but they put the Earth in danger for cheap thrills and testosterone stupidity. Poor Bulma, it must be hard to be surrounded by idiots.
Edit: Piccolo was actually horrified by Cell draining that fat guy. What I meant here was that Piccolo did nothing to help him.
Goku Letting Villains Go
So Goku let Piccolo, Vegeta and Frieza live. Although he did blast Frieza after he unsurprisingly tried to kill him with the energy Goku gave that bastard. Piccolo and Vegeta turned out to be good guys...but what if they did not?? I don't get the impression Goku was keeping tabs on Piccolo. How would Goku know if Piccolo did not enjoy a random killing spree every now and then? Pretty sure Majunior killed a few people as a kid without Kami giving a crap. And what if Vegeta returned to Earth and killed a ton of people before the Z fighters could intercept him?? What if he brought backup?? Well, no matter! Because we can just wish the Earthlings back! Unless...they were always revived so those suckers are out of luck :). Same argument for Frieza which Frieza actually carried out. What if Frieza arrived a few months earlier? And not just Earth! What about the other innocent people in the universe? What if Frieza decided to ignore Earth and continue his reign of terror in the universe? I guess Goku does not give a rat's ass about non-Earthlings. You best believe that once Goku left Namek, he would not care about Frieza anymore as long as he left Earth alone, leaving Frieza to do all the so-called 'mischief' Goku told him to stop doing. The Z fighters aren't exactly helping out other planets after all which is perfectly valid. But Goku sparing Frieza was such a dumb move and such a disgraceful insult to all of Frieza's past genocide victims.
Ignorance is Bliss Part 2
I find it kind of disgusting how the Z fighters allow Mr. Satan to propagate lies about Ki. Don't they realize how damaging this is? It means that any Earthling with potential like Videl won't live up to the likes of Krillin and co. because they think Ki is fake. They have the good people of Earth believing a buffoon like Mr. Satan actually defeated the likes of Cell who destroyed an army with a wave of his arm. Imagine if Future Trunks defeated the androids and let a clown like Satan take credit for saving the world? Just the thought makes me feel like vomiting right now! It's not a coincidence that DBZ hardly shows impressive fighters like Nam from Dragonball anymore. It's a shame that they are not training a future generation to protect themselves. Because the DBZ next-gen crew absolutely sucks!!! Imagine depending on Goten, Trunks, Marron and Bra to save the day! Might as well just kill yourself on the spot. The Z fighters should be helping Earthlings to give themselves a fighting chance. Also, their wiping of people's memory of Buu is highly questionable. I understand that Buu would cause panic and the events of the Buu saga were traumatizing. It goes into ethics about hiding the truth to protect someone. Still, modifying people's memories so Buu can walk free and avoid the consequences of his actions is appalling. Imagine you are a rando Earthling and the Z fighters have the ability to mess with your memories? And when you factor in that the Buu saga reached such disastrous levels because of the Z fighters' incompetence makes this even worse :(
TLDR: The Z fighters at times show little regard for Earthlings when it comes to the truth and treat their lives as collateral damage.

What do you think of the noted parallels between Goku and Ryu from Street Fighter? Do you think that Ryu is meant to be Capcom's homage to Goku?
No. Ryu is much more the homage to the wandering martial artist trope than anything directly parallel to Goku. Very different personality, struggles with being tempted by dark power and having to try to overcome that and even surpass it to take out his true nemesis, etc. I do think the Ryu and Ken dynamic is somewhat similar to Goku and Krillin, but I think that DB is merely one influence among many there too.
