A.L.F.A. 40/60 HP Aerodinamica, 1914, by Castagna. Maybe the world's first concept car was designed by Marco Ricotti of Carrozzeria Castagna based on a 1913 Alfa 40-60 h.p. chassis. It was powered by a 6082cc 4 cylinder engine that produced 70hp at 2200 rpm. Thanks to the aluminium droplet bodywork it could reach a 150 kph (93 mph) top speed. The bodywork was patterned after a dirigible, the engine was accessed through square doors located just behind the front wheels.
“We are in such a hurry to grow up, and then we long for your lost childhood. We make ourselves ill earning money, and then spend all our money on getting well again. We think so much about the future that we neglect the present, and thus experience neither the present nor the future. We live as if we were never going to die, and die as if we had never lived.”
