The pipeline is so real.
“Oh yeah I know Firefox lets use it because it’s not owned by Apple or Google”
“Oooh great I can install an adblocker on here that makes things easier”
“What other extensions have we got? Omg one that forces all websites into dark mode? I love protecting my migrainey eyes”
“Wait I can have duck duck go automatically part of my search bar? Don’t mind if I do!”
“I need to do this to all of my devices and set up a faraday cage in my house now”

Recently switched from Chrome to Firefox, and omg y'all, I'm a believer now. I was all bought into the Google ecosystem (pixel phone, Google nest at one point, Google drive junkie), but their shit has been getting worse and worse in recent years. Firefox is great, it loves me, it tucks me into bed at night and gives me a goodnight kiss. Firefox has ad block! IN MOBILE! FIREFOX MOBILE HAS AD BLOCK! And it'll let YouTube play in the background in a tab without all the horrible UI shit Google is adding to YouTube, for free, guys this is so great, you can import passwords and bookmarks, it does everything Chrome does, and it does everything you wish Chrome did. AND it won't track you or sell your data.
I also have switched to majority Duck Duck Go, guys it's awesome, all of the awful UI and ad shit that Google has added in recent years is gone, it's like when Google the search engine was good.
Firefox + ublock origin + duck duck go, best trio since neopolitan ice cream

I'm trying out duck duck go for a couple days to see how it feels, and wanted to do a comparison search against google to see the difference. Only search I could come up with was "Spock" lol

I feel like I'm getting a lot more options from duck duck go! Which is kinda cool. Glad memory alpha turns up for both.

ok but how am i supposed to stop using google when the alternatives suck so bad
i switched to qwant but if i do a search and then click on the news tab it tells me there's no news items (this is usually when i'm 100% certain there is bc i just searched a news story i heard on the radio). i can't search by date there (i use that feature of google's search constantly). there is a drop-down where you can choose freshness but it's not very exact
i had a similar experience trying to use duck duck go
i basically end up re-running all my searches on google anyway and that's really not helpful for what i'm trying to do here

how to access the dark web
⦾ first, get an antivirus (you can use Avast which is free if you're broke, it actually works super good)
⦾ then, get a VPN. you can choose which location hackers see you at, for example, you can set it to australia or somethin
⦾ next, cover up your camera with a piece of tape
⦾ google tor browser and download tor. on safari or chrome, dark web links don't show, but on tor, it does.
⦾ go on tor, activate all your protection, and search up the hidden wiki
⦾ when you click on it, you can find a list of the best dark web links, its like an encyclopedia, almost. they are all safe and won't do anything sketchy to your computer. you can click on these links
⦾ if you want more links, search ON TOR best dark web links or something like that

Thank you duck duck go for understanding that the query, "sport anime with the titties," was enfact asking for Keijo!.
Google was remarkably unhelpful and gave me nothing but hentai.

I don't know if Paramount was just too cheap to pay Google, but regardless, I appreciate the Duck Duck Go mention in the recent SNW episode.

you can really tell that duck duck go is built off of Bing because any time you search for a news article, all the damn links point you to MSN. fucking microsoft always wants to make everything their monopoly
Tumblr media
oh, my bad, i'm sorry, they don't pull this shit with Fox, fox articles they're happy to point you to directly

ive been using duck duck go and I really want to say “I goosed it” (in lieu of “I googled it”)
bc. yanno. Duck Duck Goose.
I’m sorry friends, but “just google it” is no longer viable advice. What are we even telling people to do anymore, go try to google useful info and the first three pages are just ads for products that might be the exact opposite of what the person is trying to find but The Algorithm thinks the words are related enough? And if it’s not ads it’s just sponsored websites filled with listicles, just pages and pages of “TOP FIFTEEN [thing you googled] IMAGINED AS DISNEY PRINCESSES” like… what are we even doing anymore, google? I can no longer use you as shorthand for people doing real and actual helpful research on their own.
