sleep deprived dust can't recognize what's dream and what's real when he goes in and out of consciousness so i think dust is allowed to be incredibly reckless when he's awake but thinks he's in a dream. he will kill whoever passes by him (or attempt to. for him it's an instict to shoot bones anyways.) he will drink 4 bottles of alcohol just because he thinks its just a lucid dream. have incredibly loud conversations with phantom paps because he's asleep so nobody will hear him talk. or just have loud ass breakdowns because again he thinks he's asleep!!! nobody's gonna know what he gets up to in his dreams. and until someone (probably phantom paps) tells him that he's not asleep and this is reality he won't realize until he's done something really reckless

horror is seconds away from exploding dust's skull open with his magic while dust is trying to strangle him and FINALLY phantom paps tells him he's awake and dust snaps out of it. killer is walking around the house with bones sticking out of him like pins on a sewing pattern (casually too. another day in the life for him) and he just asks dust what that was about. dust just gets off of horror and shrugs his shoulders with an idk. and then walks away. this is the 6th time its happened this month

Dustfell Danmaged

Alright, so this is a summary about the version of dustfell i made on my own, this take became to be after i abandoned the old one i made along with Flambeworm, so that's why they are like, separated and shit lol

So, onto the lore itself.

This take has actually 2 lores, one of which is for the old version, and one that i was making for the new version before i ended up giving up on it But, to leave things a bit more organized, i'll leave the main info about the au having the New lore instead of the old one (which i will explain in another post much more vaguely)

So, the idea for this Dustfell was that, following up the events of dusttale where sans remembers resets and stuff (but actually following the idea that, the reason he remembers resets was because frisk never finished the genocide route fully, and thus, he would always have dejavus about what happening, with those dejavus building up with each reset until, at some point, he would just straight up remember what happened in the previous routes), in this version sans ends up losing his mind by how much he had to watch the world being reset endlessly, but this time, instead of coming up with the idea to become stronger than frisk by killing everyone, he instead understood that the reason frisk was repeating those unfinished genocide routes over and over was because they wanted something new, and thus, he would have the idea to practically try to give what frisk wanted in order for them to move one from the loop of genocide routes. With that, sans would decide to try and shake up Frisk's route by going to the core and taking control over the entire thing (having to kill alphys in the process of getting inside), and with control over the core, he would immediately break the thing, making all of the magic and energy that the machine produced begin to increase continuously, thus messing with the entire magic of the underground in the process. Which, would lead to also the monsters being affected, as the levels of magic of air were increased, the monsters would begin to grow stronger and more "monstrous" like per say, all so that frisk's job of making their way through the underground would went on to be much harder than before. Now, after things began to turn into chaos, sans would decide to also try and play a new role in Frisk's journey, pretending to not know what was happening with the monsters when meeting up with frisk, and thus, following them in order to protect himself and frisk, as having frisk die before they were able to see the entire thing would be nothing more than a waste of sans' effort.

Basically, the au is meant to follow sans actually wanting to give frisk what they want by turning all of the monsters into viscious beasts, while helping frisk out himself in order for them to be able to enjoy the entire run without going through the risk of frisk giving up and resetting. Yes, that's right, Sans in fact doesn't want frisk to reset in Dustfell, he wants them to enjoy the run he made up himself to the fullest, so he can be sure that frisk will finally be satisfied with the "new thing" he provided them.

With that being explained, the main detail to explain how the ending of the story would go (and to also explain what is sans' second design all about) is that, sans is not exactly free from the effect of the core. No, not at all, he in fact would constantly try to hide out the fact that he's being affected by the core, having to leave frisk alone for several occasions along the game in order for him to let all of the accumulated magic inside him out before he snaps. But, in the end, sans would not be able to hold out the effects that the magic is having in his broken mind anymore, and, right when frisk and him get to the judgement hall, sans would stop them and begin to talk about what was really happening. It would be there that frisk would discover that it was sans that fucked up the core, that it was him that mercilessly killed alphys, and most of all, that he always knew about the genocide loop that frisk was doing. In the talk, he would explain why he had done all of the stuff that frisk had seen, it was because he just wanted (as stated previously), to give frisk something new, and that the reason he helped them out was because he could not fathom the idea of frisk dying and giving up before seeing all of the events he had prepared for them. And with that, one last fight would enroll, a fight where sans would be practically begging frisk to be killed by them, as by that point, he was already useless to the story he had prepared himself, saying as well that, for the fight with asgore, it would be best experienced if frisk went off alone. In that fight, frisk would be given 2 choices, to either kill sans, or to attempt at sparing him, if frisk kills sans, he will take the hit like any normal monster, and die while laughing maniacally while he spews out about how everything is going to plan, but if frisk decides to continuously spare sans, he will ask why is frisk insisting on forcing up the same fight that they had been doing for ages already, saying that by this point, that whole deal should be already boring to frisk, before soon, after a couple more tries, sans would understand, and say that if frisk wishes to fight him one more time, then so be it, leading to sans snapping and showing out the crazy eyes that he has in the second design. The fight would be like any normal sans fight really, but being considerably harder than the og undertale sans fight (with that being in purpose, as sans is trying to make this boring fight be a bit more entertaining for frisk, despite knowing that the fight itself is already overdone to the point he can't do anything else than just follow the old ways), ending on sans getting hit again, but this time, he would have a moment of clarity before dying, noticing that, despite all the stuff that he had done to make things different, it still seems that frisk was stuck on the old times, wanting still the same fights, the same deaths, the same story, with his attempts at making stuff new being nothing more than futile, with him saying only "Good luck" before dying, as he himself knows what is actually waiting frisk beyond the throne room's doors.

What that is? I honestly don't know That was actually something i wanted to leave vague for the story, as for the entirety of the run sans would tell you about how monstrous the people he knew became, but never touch on what happened to the so called king that everyone still feared. Did Asgore turn evil like everyone else? Is Asgore still the same as before? What happened to him? I don't know, and it's better to leave it as that.

Some random details about the au would be that the concept behind the entirety of the lore was an attempt at applying the "good people turn evil, evil people turn good" trope, but trying to do it in a much more in depth way than just, slapping that concept onto sans or smth And uhhh, that would also mean the au would have designs for the entire main cast, not only sans or sans and papyrus, cos all the real enemies in Dustfell would be the other monsters, not sans. Also means no phantom paps design, cos paps is alive as a mini boss for snowdin.

And that's it for the lore, really, i don't got any fun facts or anything, because i managed to mash up all the necessary info for the au on the story itself lol uh, ig one fun fact is that sans design is slightly inspired by one of fella's old undertale artworks? and the reason sans has a golden tooth is cos fella always gives sans a golden tooth in his artworks, being underfell or not.

Well the story for the old version was that, uh Undyne and alphys were watching you fight paps, but then sans came in, undyne fucks things up on the lab that makes the core starts to get messy, things go wild, sans kills paps accidentally, and uh, i guess he would snap and start chasing you down??? Idk the old lore was confusing as hell, that's why i was trying to rewrite it lol

Saying he could fix it all, help him end it, stop it, maybe even give him something he never had before….

Control

Sans, after a long pause, agreed. Of course asking for the catch. 

There was “no” catch.

The caller told him how to fix it.

That they’d even help him.

Sans started the “plan”, convincing himself this was what he had to do.

(It was finally something new…something that wasn’t predictable.)

They wouldn’t remember.

It was to stop the endless cycle.

He would make it better in the end.

Make it up to them.

(When he got control over it all.)

He would start his own game and be the one to control it…

To call the shots…

For the better.

He would never be just another “character”, “npc”, “it” anymore…no one would.

Something changed in him.

The plan changed him.

He was finally enjoying himself…because he was the one in control and it felt good.

He felt powerful. 

Determined to stop it all and make this his world.

He didn’t care anymore.

He just had to reach the end

No matter what.

They would thank him later.

His soul grew cold, hard, unfeeling.

He didn’t recognize those who he cherished (friends, family, no one.) and “he” wasn’t the same.

 He heard it.

The entity.

The entity the caller told him would make this easier.

Not to be afraid of it.

This was to help.

(Abilities/Battle info)

Cold has all the abilities of Sans.

Cold has an assimilation ability which allows him to copy a few unique abilities from a monster he has killed, aswell as bullet patterns (Ex: The waviness of Toriels attacks or the spear ringlets of Undynes attacks)

Cold has a passive where he radiates coldness that he can control, and can freeze things through touch due to this (Turn them into ice sculptures) which does not affect magic items but affects things with a soul, (Things without a soul such as Ink can still be frozen but physical contact just doesn't cause them to immediately start freezing over.)

Ice infection, which, just makes it so his ice SPREADS. If touched a body part shall freeze and will start to spread the freezing until you're a statue. The speed varies but will usually be faster the longer you have touched something icey.

Frostbite which is a mimic of KR. For however long you've touched an attack a bit of your HP will freeze and become a blue color. This blue HP will be unusable and cannot be healed. It can only be thawed. To thaw just..go somewhere hot or get hit by an attack that produces heat lol

Cold progressively gets stronger each "reset" happens, as in, his progress is put back at 0.

Cold himself does not have the ability to au/world hop but his demons do e.g Promise. Think sort of like how Nightmare is able to send Killer/Cross places.

(Notes/Facts)

Sans nickname is "Cold".

This is an alternate timeline, but could be considered a universe.

The inspiration is Deltarune SnowGrave route, Spamton, Jevil, Noelle, and DustTale. As "ColdGrave" is more alike to DustTale if any AU.

Cold attracts all sorts of things, demons, spirits, creatures. After all, Misery loves company.

The caller and the entity is really up to interpretation.

Cold can take KR damage due to his LV and not being a good "Judge" of character anymore.

Cold doesn't actually use his own magic much, often opting to just smack something a bunch with a weapon i.e like Player who as Frisk..just hits things a bunch 'til they dust.

Shivvers: Colds Phantom Papyrus, which isn't actually Papyrus but just a demon taking the form of Papyrus to haunt Cold- make him feel even worse and to guilt-trip him into continuing what he's doing. Shivvers feeds off his misery.

The Heart Locket: Just a representation of Chara, another 'demon' like entity. (Chara themself says they are a demon.) Colds DETERMINATION and everything he's done, along with being a new change of pace had woken Chara up sooner than Frisk.

Promise: Another demon who keeps Cold on track. (AKA continuing his mission) Also Colds best friend.

Papyrus and Sans: Just echoes of what once was. Faint yet familiar memories.

Cold is "just dust but sadder" (quote from Promise), similar to Kris and Frisk. Similar also to Noelle, especially after the soon to be reboot. (The reboot is going to change the way I RP Cold)

The reason Cold and Promise know eachother is that Cold attracted Promise (Creepy pasta by d4niztic) due to Cold LV n such and after Cold was tormented by Promise (Promise is a violent creature) they struck up a deal so Cold can live but now Cold kinda works for Promise and Promise little gang of creepypasta's (UnderTale creepypasta's)

(This happened because of RP me and my friend @entitysoulless did and they ended up becoming friends lol)

If you were to encounter Cold in a fight the song that would most likely play would be something like "But nobody came" (Undertale esque) or Lullaby of the Unheard.

i think the creators in the undertale multiverse is SUCH a creative concept and even though it's fourth wall breaking it's so amazing that it deserves to break the fourth wall

everytime other medias and games or stories break the fourth wall it's either taken unseriously (like pinkie pie from mlp or family guy cutaways) or people shit on it for being out of place and just a deus ex machina or something (hi3 i will NEVER hate you for including the players in the final arc) but the undertale multiverse completely subverts that. actually the entire MULTIVERSE is BASED on the concept that people are willing to make media and art and writing and that is what keeps these ocs and worlds and creations going and alive

the utmv isn't even a real thing. like it's not a fandom that spawned from a book or a movie or a show or game or comic. ok well it technically is but the undertale fandom and the undertale AUs fandon are two different things i think. like undertale aus ofc came from undertale but that's a whole seperate branch of things and sometimes those aus have NOTHING to do with undertale (looking at you dreamtale. and others.)

but the fact that a whole seperate branch of a fandom was created just because people wanted to expand on one tiny game and had so much love for it that it spawned this clusterfuck of a fandom is just so amazing to me. i don't think any other fandom has THIS extensive of a multiverse with aus where the people holding the pencils and typing words are so heavily engrained into the lore (ink and error i will forever love you for being aware of creators I AM AWARE OF YOU TOO!!! I LOVE YOU!!!!)

in other fandoms there's a strict canon for medias but in the utmv a lot of aus are just a brief concept and maybe some charactization and that's it (dusttale ily 4 this. dusttale is peak fiction). and if you like the concept enough you can make another concept based on it. and if someone else likes your au enough they might make another au based on it or write headcanons for it. and it's so cool that this fandom is kinda self sustaining in a way. undertale's probably never gonna get another update or game and even though deltarune has its connections its a completely seperate thing. but somehow the fandom is alive and still pumping out tons of amazing content

and the fact that we control all of these character's actions is so daunting but also so cool. like these characters do these things because we basically script them to do. we as creators are the ones drawing the angst or writing the shit posts. if a character is self aware of the creators that's just because we MADE them aware. so are they really aware or are we just pretending that we are. if a character is powerful that's just because we made them powerful. if a character hates the creators we made them hate us. if a character destroys aus we make them do that. but they don't actually feel that way or do those things, that's just what we tell them to do and i think that's really cool

ive yapped a lot about this topic (i still have so much more to say) but i'll hold it back and just talk about one last thing and that's headcanons and interpretations. I LOVE PEOPLE'S INDIVIDUAL INTERPRETATIONS!!! I LOVE PEOPLE'S HEADCANONS FOR CHARACTERS!!! i love seeing how other people think the mtt (or other characters but i am a murder time trio fanatic) would interact or how they would act. i love seeing people's dumb comics of them bickering or making out (errrmmmmm) because it's all different. all these people came up with their own ideas and thoughts on how to expand these relatively basic concepts and it's all different because everyone's different and gone through different things <333

all in all i love you undertale multiverse. this fandom is one of the most unique i've ever had the joy of being in and i hope it never dies out (if it dies out what will happen to all of the amazing creations and worlds and people we've made 😕😕😕 ink will be sad. so pls don't die utmv)
