Listen i know that Song For Ten is literally written for ten and all that but every time I listen to it i only ever hear nine talking to rose during his regeneration! All i hear is this beating, wounded heart of a man saying a teary eyed goodbye and telling her how fantastic she is! Ten will have many perfect days with her in the future but nine will never see her again!
Tumblr media
And I started to walk, pretty soon I will run And I'll come running back to you ′cause I followed my star and that's what you are
Literally nine thanking her for everything shes done
So have a good life, do it for me Make me so proud like you want me to be
LITERALLY THE MOST NINE WORDS EVERRR
Our time will never come again But if you can still dream Close your eyes it will seem That you can see me now and then
This is him passing the torch to ten and trying to help Rose through the transition

rewatched space babies just now and the 'they're inside the tv show' theory is making a whole lot of sense. hitting all the beats of what feels like quintessential dw, but kind of oddly fitted together. the 'last of the time lords' lore dump, sonic-ing the phone to call mum, the tardis translation/the nanny filter, 'every story needs a hero,' the doctor saving the monster/'you save them all,' giving the tardis key, 'tell your mum not to slap me,' scanning the companion without her knowledge... and the snow/memory scene is a literal flashback, just with the characters remembering what the tv showed us.

aaaaaaaaaa so I just watched The Star Beast, and like,, I had seen a spoiler before about the name Rose Noble, but I didn’t retain enough of it to really understand what was going on, so I was just like 👀👀👀
but now that I know that it was explicitly intentional in-universe, that she canonically named herself that because the part of her that is the Doctor loves Rose so much…I’m never gonna be normal again actually 😵‍💫

Clearly the doctor hearing the show’s music must be a new development because if he could hear it this whole time, he would have had to take a minute when Murray Gold’s score first dropped to just smoke a blunt and vibe with it.

so russell t davies had a recent thing in dw magazine where he put his thoughts while watching the completed 60th specials for the first time
and a couple things he said caught my eye, but mainly this:
Tumblr media
[image id: --I become an extra [caps] wait wait the music just went... up [end caps], aaaah, is that Donna's Theme? [italics] Is it? [end italics] Are these the same chords that played at 43:17 in Turn Left? [caps] I think so [end caps]/I doubt myself/[caps] I know nothing. [end caps.] end image id.]
and because i'm, well, me, i went and checked Turn Left. however also because i am me, i was watching a pirated copy and i can't be 100% sure his 43:17 is the same as my 43:17. however. on my copy. that timestamp seems to be a sort of transition between two songs. so i think either he means A Dazzling End or The Doctor's Theme.
do with this information what you will.

can’t get ruby’s theme out of my head. might rival clara’s in my list of favourite companion themes, actually (and it’s the only one apart from claras to be diegetic! funny that). twist at the end may not have been grammy-worthy but BOY did he cook with the life of sunday. by all the gods mr gold you’ve done it again

I'm going to say something that shouldn't be controversial. Murray Gold is in the same league as Hans Zimmer and Howard Shore
There.
I said it.
And what I mean by that, specifically, is:
"Songs of Captivity and Freedom" (!!!!!!!!)
"Song of Freedom"
"Rose's theme"
"The Doctor's theme"
"The Dream of a Normal Death"
"The Long Song" (!!!!!!)
"Vale Decem"
"The Doctor's theme Series 4" (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
"Vale" (!!!!)
"The Dark and Endless Dalek Night"
