@inquistior : After visiting the library to gather the reading that Solas has assigned him, Hal returns a few minutes later to place a fresh cup of in the place of the mug that had gone cold on whatever desk Dorian has chosen for the day. He leaves it while the mage is busy with one of the researchers, and slips away with nothing but a stifled smiled.

❝ ——— Very well, tell Lord Alexius that we’ve made some headway, ❞ ignoring the dull ache that thudded through him at the mention of his old mentor’s name is easy enough, considering that it occurs at least thrice per week. The first several times he had half forgotten that Alexius is no longer a Magister, anymore. Not really. ❝ However, his idea of amplifying magickal energies using Fade touched crystals is incredibly dangerous, there have been plenty of studies regarding that if he bothered to read any, ❞ the mage he’s speaking to ——— Dylan, perhaps, or maybe it was Dianah, something with a d he’d recall in several minutes when the conversation was over and he could straighten out his mind once more ——— gives him a deadpan stare, as if to say that I’m not a messenger and why are you utilizing me as one, to which Dorian simply stares back, brow quirked. ❝ Well? We haven’t got all day, do we? ❞

Things like that are precisely why he isn’t especially popular, though popularity is hardly something that he worries about, is it? Not anymore, that is, so far removed from his own society and entrenched in another which abhors him as a rule, thereby making him thoroughly unpopular with no real means of fixing such a thing if he cares to. But, that’s neither here nor there.

He exhales a sigh, chest rising and falling dramatically, rubbing his forehead as he makes it way back to his commandeered desk, his standard wards shimmering as he goes, feeling ever so slightly different, a sign of someone having passed through them in his absence. A cursory glance his papers and books inform him that they are entirely untouched, not a page out of order, though he runs his fingers lightly over the long dried ink, besides. It takes several moments for him to scan the whole of the area, only to land on an extra tea cup, which he truly should have noticed in the first place, and likely would’ve if he weren’t so preoccupied with ensuring that his work hadn’t been tampered with in the meantime. Steam is rising from it, unlike its abandoned sibling lying, forlorn and cold, on the table beside, though they are both clearly the same type of tea. He tilts his head, regarding it with blatant suspicion.

It’s not as though he’s expecting to be poisoned, but given his upbringing and the ire he earns down south by breathing it wouldn’t surprise him if someone foolhardy were to TRY in spite of his position in the Inquisition. And it’s one of several options which pop into his head all at once, barraging him with an array of possibilities which he discards one after another. Dorian stares at it for several moments too long before waving his hand over it, magick stretching to check for any unsavory additions to it. It’s not stripweed tea, he knows as much by smell alone ( and it would take an impressive amount of digging for most anyone to figure out that he’s highly allergic, thus it would have to be random chance to give him a drink which would outright kill him ) and after several moments he’s determined that it’s simply tea. His favorite brew, made perfectly and left waiting for him : innocuous.

Which, truly, only leaves so many options : Cole, trying to make his day better, a scenario which is somewhat likely were it not for the fact that he knows that Cole is preoccupied today, though he still wouldn’t put it past him ——— a secret admirer, more likely than Cole in the grand scheme of things, given that he is Dorian Pavus, after all, but who in their right mind would court him by leaving tea lying around for him lest they knew that he had a bad habit of letting his own go cold ——— or, Maker forbid, the Inquisitor.

Yet, that’s the only option remaining, isn’t it? Dorian is something of a fan of LOGIC and while he half denies the origin of this gift ( could this be considered a gift? ) it’s simply a thoroughly Halwn Trevelyan thing to do, to pass through and leave him his favorite tea, freshly brewed and ready for him to drink at any given time, and leave without a word. It’s ——— absurd and foolish and foolhardy, utterly ridiculous in the grand scheme of things, to take time out of the day in order to LEAVE HIM SOMETHING, never mind to take note of exactly what he likes and precisely how he likes it : blazing hot, though just beneath the threshold of burning the leaves.

It ——— feels like courting.

The thought rests oddly in his mind, abrupt and intrusive as he stares at the cup of tea as though it has thoroughly offended him by its mere existence, which is also ridiculous. Though not nearly so much as Halwn leaving him his favorite tea, as if he has hoarded this information within his mind, keeping stock of the things that Dorian likes. He picks up the teacup gingerly as he heads over into his alcove proper, flipping open the rarely used log book, eyes skimming what little is there and ——— well. The neatly signed Halwn Trevelyan rather answers that question, doesn’t it?

Of course he would leave Dorian his favorite tea AND check out a book properly like a civilized person, all without instruction nor Dorian watching over him to make sure that it was all correct.

Slowly, the cup raises and he pauses with the porcelain pressed against his lower lip, abruptly far too aware of his own heart beat, the cup steam warm against his mouth. It feels ——— far too private, almost SALACIOUS, and he feels no small measure of frustration rearing its head, scratching against his sternum as he tips the cup and drinks it.

Perfect. Naturally.

Dorian stares at it for several moments longer, mind bizarrely blank for several moments, the only remnant of his being alive the fact that his heart is thudding in his chest and his lungs continue to expand with each breath that he takes. A moment passes / and then another / and another before he downs the whole cup in one go ( an odd behavior, for him, rather erratic, but the tea has mostly cooled by now anyways and there’s no sense wasting it, now is there? ) and sets the empty cup on top of the log book, turning sharply on his heel and making his way towards the kitchens.

Several looks are directed his way as he blustered into the rooms, oven hot and stifling as he glances around at the various bowls and instruments and ——— ah. There. An apple lifts from the bowl and drifts towards him as everyone in the kitchens stares at him and he smiles brilliantly, ❝ My apologies, I was feeling a bit peckish... do excuse me, ❞ he bows shallowly as he turns out of the room and the apple falls into his hand and he makes his way, at a perfectly normal pace, back to his alcove. The apple is thrown several times, absently, always landing perfectly back in his hand, and he gives Solas a passing wave before ducking into the stairwell, making his way back up and pushing open the window of his alcove, leaning out a bit, eyes scanning the area.

He’s not especially hard to find, never is, speaking to someone or other, or rather being spoken to, likely having been waylaid on his way to some destination, and Dorian simply watches him for a moment. He can’t see him particularly well at this distance nor angle, what with the Inquisitor turned primarily away from him, but for a moment he can admire the slope of his shoulders and the way his hair catches the light and that’s all fine and well, basic PHYSICAL ATTRACTION is simple enough, isn’t it? Something to be worked out, if both parties agree to it, and that’s that. The problem is ———

THE PROBLEM IS : a tea cup left beside the papers that he had been writing upon, everything else left untouched but for the log book that no one bothers to use having been written in perfectly to his standards ( reasonable standards, mind you ) with not a thing out of place, excessively thoughtful and mindful, a teacup pressed to his lips, the contents perfectly brewed albeit somewhat chilled due to time alone. The whole of that? A problem. A rather major one, at that.

His mouth thins and he has half a mind to eat the apple himself but ——— no, instead the Veil ripples as he tugs at Halwn’s elbow and watches as the man shifts, not quite starting, as he looks around for the source of it all. Dorian knows he’ll look up here ——— Halwn’s not subtle and that’s a problem, as well ——— and the moment that their eyes meet he flings the apple with carefully applied magick. Luckily he had plenty of target practice in his youth, and the trajectory is utterly perfect, bearing in mind wind and whatnot. Surprise, he thinks, flits across the man’s face as he compulsively catches the object catapulting towards him, staring at it for several moments. Dorian leans against the window frame, arms crossed.

They look at each other again ——— they always do and that’s part of the problem, as fucking well ——— and Dorian gives his widest, most charming smile, accompanied by a jaunty wave. ❝ My thanks, Inquisitor !! ❞ he shouts, subtle manipulation of the Veil allowing his voice to carry without him having to shout too loudly. People are looking, of course they are, and while he’s partial to giving a show, there’s no need to go overboard.

And, he departs from the sill, closing the windows without fully gauging Halwn’s reaction, irritated by speed of his heart, pulsing against his chest. He could imagine it, anyways : the slight widening of his eyes, the softening of his jaw, that specific form of gentleness descending upon him. Dorian doesn’t need to see it at all, and hasn’t the faintest clue what he would do if he had.

Yes - I’m replaying the game

1 - Zevran disapproval if you tell him to stop looking at you is not a glitch. He actually disapproves - like what? Really? Come ON!

2 - It is actually possible to miss the dying soldier in the Woods of the Wild - as I just discovered for the very first time....O.o

3 - I really wish Tamlen was a full time party member because I really like him and my Lyna (but oh well, guess I can suck it up with my Lyna/Garrett Hawke HC)

4 - I now only have 4 PT - I might get round to doing my City Elf and Dwarf commoner but then I’d need to figure out my Hawkes then my Inquisitor after them so eh...I’ll see how I feel

City of Cape Town provocative campaign against gender-based violence

A new campaign #16DaysOfActivism for the City of Cape Town by advertising agency HelloFCB+ is addressing damaging gender-based attitudes that generally go unchallenged. The campaign, titled “Boys Do What Men Teach Them”, takes a hard look at the realities around the normalisation of gender-based violence through men’s perceived “innocent” and “victimless” actions (such as locker room talk, rape jokes, and the objectification of women) and by not speaking out against it when they see these things happen. Three content pieces were created, each showing how the actions of men creep into the world of young boys, and the very real consequences. One video sees a young girl’s first encounter with a young boy objectifying her, while the other two show a young girl’s first encounter with a catcall and a young boy’s first encounter with a sexist and inappropriate joke. “It’s these actions, and inactions, that young boys see happening daily and as a result, think that this is how a man should act. In reality, it’s our responsibility to teach the next generation of men how they should behave so that we can break the cycle of gender-based violence,” said HelloFCB+ CCO Mike Barnwell. #16DaysOfActivism is an international campaign to challenge violence against women and girls and takes place from 25 November (the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) To 10 December (Human Rights Day). It’s a time when South Africa stands together with women and children to send a clear message that gender-based violence is not welcome in this country. “This was a really exciting campaign for the City and one we are so proud of,” added Director of Communication for the City of Cape Town, Priya Reddy. “As a local government, we don’t always allow ourselves to be as bold as we would like. CANTLON'S CORNER: WOLF PACK OFF SEASON VOLUME 17

BY: Gerry Cantlon, Howlings HARTFORD, CT - With Labor Day coming this weekend signaling the traditional end of summer, hockey fans, especially Hartford Wolf Pack and New York Rangers fans, are gearing up for what should be an exciting season. PLAYER & COACHING MOVEMENT The Wolf Pack have added a ninth and tenth defenseman for the Pack roster with the inking of Jeff Taylor to a one-year AHL deal. Taylor, a left-handed shot out of Union College (ECACHL), played the last two years splitting time between the Wilkes Barre/Scranton Penguins (AHL) and the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL). Zach Tolkinen, a six-year pro who played his collegiate career at Quinnipiac University (ECACHL) was on the Wolf Pack roster for nine games on a recall assignment from the Maine Mariners. Tolkinen signed a one-year AHL deal. Both Taylor and Tolkinen were signed as part of AHL organizational depth for the Wolf Pack. Ex-Pack defenseman and assistant captain last year, Rob O’Gara, signed a one-year AHL deal at $75K with the San Antonio Rampage. He missed the final third of the regular season with a herniated disc injury that required surgery. He joins ex-Pack Josh Wesley who signed with the Rampage last week. Ex-Pack, TJ Hensick, signs up for another season with the Toledo Walleye (ECHL). He also spent the second half of the season with the San Jose Barracuda last year. Two Bridgeport Sound Tigers from last season signed contracts. Michael Del Colle put his name on a two-year, one-way deal paying him $700K. Josh Ho-Sang sees just $11K in his NHL salary increase and gets none at the AHL level ($70K) on a one-year, two-way deal with the New York Islanders. Following a buyout from the Philadelphia Flyers, an ex-Sound Tiger, Andrew MacDonald, will attend the Calgary Flames training camp on a tryout deal. Another ex-Sound Tiger, Eamon McAdam, a goaltender who split last year with the Toronto Marlies (AHL) and Newfoundland Growlers (ECHL) signs with the Binghamton Devils (AHL) for this upcoming season. Tanner Pond leaves the Providence Bruins to sign a one-year, two-way deal with the Sound Tigers and Islanders. A new signee with the Stockton Heat is another ex-Sound Tiger, Matt Gaudreau, the brother of Calgary's Johnny Gaudreau. Columbus renewed its affiliation with the Cleveland Monsters for five years. In what is becoming more of a trend in the AHL, not only do the NHL teams own their AHL affiliate, (currently, 18) they are also taking over the management of their respective arenas as well. The latest is the Anaheim Management Group being selected by the San Diego City Council to become the new arena operator at Pachanga Arena effective on July 1, 2020. Two players head to the Niagara University Purple Eagles (AHA). They are Croix Evingson UMASS-Lowell (HE) and Walker Simmer of Air Force (NCAA Division I Independent). They also get 24-year-old Ryan Cook on a transfer from Merrimack College (HE). Then Will Scherer transfers from Brown University (ECACHL) to Canisius College (AHA). Goalie Conner Ryckman takes the leap going from Division III at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (WIAC) to Division I at Northern Michigan University (WCHA). Goalie Dylan Schoen leaves Division III SUNY-Geneseo (SUNYAC) and goes to Stevenson University (WIAC). He played for the Connecticut Nighthawks for two years. A nice story makes its way to the public as Penn State adds senior William Holzforster. He will be the Nittany Lions third goalie after playing three years on the Penn State ACHA club team. The Post University Eagles (NE-10-W) of Waterbury has tabbed Lauren Wash, a four-year varsity player from RPI and 2018 Isobel Cup winner for the NWHL New York Riveters, as their new assistant coach. Ted Hart of Yale University (ECACHL) leads a list of eight more college players to sign pro deals. Hart signs with Maine (ECHL) while Chase Priskie of Quinnipiac University signs a two-year, two-way deal with the Carolina Hurricanes. Priskie gets $832,500-NHL/$70K-AHL. He will likely start in Charlotte with the AHL Checkers next year. Stephen Baylis Bowling Green (WCHA) signs with Ontario and Alec Marsh of Penn State signs with the Norfolk Admirals (ECHL). The University of New Hampshire's (HE) Ara Nazarian signs with Binghamton. Brendan Smith leaves Cornell University (ECACHL) to head to Wichita (ECHL). John Wiitala leaves Ohio State (Big 10) for Rochester and Beau Starrett of Cornell University (ECACHL) is off to Bakersfield (AHL) to join his brother Shane, a goaltender for the Condors. These signings make it 202 Division I players to sign pro deals and 272 collegians overall to sign deals in both North America and Europe. Jacques Bouquot (South Windsor/Salisbury Prep) rescinds his commitment from Boston College very late and will attend the University of Vermont (HE) in the fall. He had an injury-laden season last year primarily playing a bit with the Wenatchee Wild (BCHL) but played most of the year with the Chilliwack Chiefs (BCHL) contributing 28 points in 31 games. Mike Posma from Kent School (CTPREP) will play for Cedar Rapids (USHL) this season and has committed to Boston College (HE) for 2020-21. Ex-Sound Tiger, Kris Mayotte, leaves Providence College (HE) quite late to take the opening for the Assistant Coach's job at Michigan (Big 10). St. Lawrence University (ECACHL) is inducting five new players into their Hockey Hall of Fame. The group is led by former New Haven Knights (UHL) goalie Eric Heffler. Three of the five are all former AHL’ers in T.J. Trevelyan (Providence/Worcester), Drew Bagnall (Manchester, Houston, and Rochester), Erik Anderson (Milwaukee) and Ron Waske. Luke Loheit, the grandson of late New Haven Nighthawk and former Ranger, Bill Goldsworthy, will be a freshman for the two-time defending national champion, University Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs (NCHC). Nolan Volcan, the nephew of former Hartford Whaler, Mickey (Mike) Volcan, finished his major junior career with the Seattle Thunderbirds (WHL). He is heading to Canadian college hockey with the University of Alberta Golden Bears (CWUAA). Ryan Verbeek, the nephew of former Whaler great, Pat Verbeek, goes from HC Lyon (France-FREL) to Toledo (ECHL), the Red Wings Double AA affiliate. The Red Wings new assistant GM is his uncle, the aforementioned Pat Verbeek. His other uncle is Tim Verbeek who played in Toledo (ECHL) when they were called the Storm from 2000-2003. Former New Haven Senator Jason Firth is an assistant coach with Lakehead University (OUAA) in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Under the headline your never too old. Former New Haven Senators head coach, Don MacAdam, who just celebrated birthday number 69 will return to Europe this year with UTE (Hungary-ELH) as a coaching mentor. At age 61, former center Rob McClanahan, of the Miracle on Ice 1980 US Olympic Hockey team, and who played 17 games with the Whalers, as well as several years with the Rangers, was named interim head coach at the Blake School in Minnesota. Good for him and the kids. Jake Taylor, the ex-Wolf Pack, after spending six years as an assistant coach will be the head coach of Lakeville North (MNPUB) this year. Ex-Nighthawk, Mark Vichorek, will be doing double duty as Director of Player Development for the Wisconsin Lumberjacks (SIJHL), a Junior A team, and will also be the head coach for Duluth Marshall HS (MNPUB). Former Wolf Pack and Nighthawk goalie, Robb Stauber, has new coaches in his family. Brother Dan and niece Emma will be coaching Proctor HS (MNPUB) this winter, boys, and girls respectively. Wow, I’m bad at remembering to do question games. @annie-thyme tagged me in this an AGE ago, and I’m only just getting round to it.

1. Coke or Pepsi: I don’t drink either? Not a big fan of fizzy drinks tbh. Gonna say Pepsi though because Richard’s Pepsi ads are hilarious.

2. Disney or Dreamworks: Disney! I would regularly terrorize my next-door-neighbor at university by playing Disney songs at full volume. He could hear my Disney soundtracks, I never heard any of his heavy metal music. Funny how that one worked out.
